Winning the spirit stick wasnt the first thing on my mind. My main thought was how I could help unify all, if not, most of our fellow key clubbers. From my previous experience at being at Fall Rally for the past 2 years, I've noticed that most people aren't as spirited as those who were more heavily involved with Key Club. Of course, I happened to be one of those people when I first went, but gradually my love for showing spirit began to grow. A lot of time and effort went into creating the main cheers, but even more went into actually teaching and performing the cheers for our fellow key clubbers. Hours of screaming and directing the flow of the crowd took a lot of patience, stamina, and even a bit of courage because it required the spirit committee and myself to be able to stand up in front of over 250 key clubbers over the course of 2 days. After all our hard work, hearing the announcement of D15's win over the spirit stick made me ecstatic. The joy overwhelmed many of my friends along with myself and I managed to hold back tears. Because Division 15 is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, division, a lot more effort was necessary in order to make the dream become a reality. I'd like to thank not only the spirit committee and main spirit coordinators, but also the members who were able to handle our mock spirit battles and give us their attention when needed. They actually showed up to the pre fall rallies which made winning the spirit stick possible. Thank you for your patience, participation, attention, and most of all, your spirit.

From, Irene Hong

Looking back at my sophomore year attending my first Fall Rally, you could say that we all been there to that moment where we were that random awkward kid that was in Key Club and wanted to go to six flags ya know? During that time I wasn't so involved in key club But after that spirit session that we had with the other divisions, my eyes and ears have been exposed to people expressing their love and passion for Key Club. From that moment on I have decided to commit myself to Key Club. Being able to serve as your guy's main spirit coordinator this year has been life changing and I am very thankful for that. The time and effort that the mains and spirit committee making and creating the main cheers was really stressful but being able to finish the main cheer and then actually teaching them to the members was truly amazing being able to hear a lot of key clubbers chant a long to the cheers made my heart filled with joy. It showed that hard work does really pay off. Hearing the announcement of our W of the spirit stick made me so happy that I cried and like ahhh I dont even know what words to explain these feelings but you could tell those tears were happy tears if you were able to see me. I would like to thank not only the spirit committee, mains, Ricky and ESPECIALLY THE MEMBERS without you guys winning the spirit stick would not be possible, but most importantly my inspiration Janus thank you for everything. I hope all of you that are reading this keep spreading that Key Club spirit and inspire many others the world needs it. Thank you guys so much for everything, making my last Fall Rally the best Fall Rally.

From, John Tran Ps ALL HAIL GIRAFFIA

AIDS Walk by Alyssa Nelson, Chino Hills At this event, rather than walking the marathon with our club, I was able to go with the division and help out with setting up, cleaning, and helping at the finish line! My day started off at 6 AM since we had to be there by 7. I was able to go and carpool with friends from around the division. As soon as we got there, we were greeted with lots of water and bananas for breakfast and were assigned to help out with the security and crowd control. As we waited for the marathon to start up, we were even asked to be interviewed by ABC 7 to be put on the news! Afterwards we helped out and waited around to help out at the finish line. As the first person finished the marathon, we began to prepare the boxes of food to hand out as people crossed the finish line. For over half an hour, we basically just handed out foods like chips, popcorn, propel, and even totes! After our volunteering was over, we had a super fun time around LA and got to eat yummy ramen in Little Tokyo!

Caryn Fall Festival by Nasser Elhajjaoui, Los Osos This October, Los Osos Key Club had the opportunity to volunteer at the annual Caryn Elementary Fall Festival. The event was particularly special for me since it was my third year volunteering at the event. I walked to Caryn directly after school ended and the event was just like how I remembered it. Along with the other volunteers, I helped set up posters, tables, and minigames for the Fall Festival. And after a couple hours, kids began to show up with their parents to enjoy the event. I decided to work at one of the minigames for the night, the bean bag toss. Overall, it wasn't too much work and well after the sun set, the event began to die down as we all prepared to leave. But the event was just as fun as the last two times I volunteered there and I look forward to going again next year!

Valencia Fall Social by Amy Le, Upland Upland High School Key Clubbers spent their Friday night making sure the Valencia Elementary students and their families could enjoy themselves and have a great time at their annual Fall Social. This night required the help of many volunteers from Key Club especially since this was Valencia’s 50th Anniversary! At the event, volunteers took charge in setting up games, decorating tables, moving supplies, and other ways of helping for the social. During the event, Key Clubbers ran games, assisted charity auctions, and worked food booths. After a good night of fun for the Valencia families, these volunteers spent the rest of their night taking down the event and cleaning the area to ensure that Valencia’s blacktop would be spotless for the Valencia students to use the following M o n d a y . This event was personally very dear to my heart. I attended Valencia Elementary when I was younger, and would always be excited for and have a blast at the Fall Socials. Thus, being there brought back many warming memories. It was also nice to be able to help run an event that I loved when I was younger, and see that many families enjoy it. But whether or not a volunteer went to Valencia, I’m sure that everyone was warmed by the joyous tone and mood at the Fall Social that night. Knowing that we contributed to making those families happy even brought happiness within ourselves. It was an overall extravagant event that I can easily call one of my favorites.

Walk to Stop Diabetes by Regina Tambunan, Alta Loma The Walk to Stop Diabetes occurred at Fairmount Park in Riverside, where participants walked to raise funds for medical research. The walk was intended to aid people affected by diabetes, help researcher work to find the key to curing diabetes, allow children to attend Camp Wana Kura, and so medical professionals can seek more knowledge on diabetes. Clubbers helped in a variety of activities at the walk. Tasks that they lent their hands in during the event included setting up canopies, setting up a water station, opening boxes, uncapping Gatorade bottles, setting up tables, filling up cups with water and Gatorade, passing out water and Gatorade to the runners and walkers coming by. Although floods of people became overwhelming for the volunteers, Abdon Zavaleta claims that it “was so much fun.” As clubbers assisted walkers passing by, people were happy and smiling and the clubbers got to also cheer for everyone. After the walk ended, clubbers cleaned up the station, loaded items onto a big truck, helped clean up the rest of the stations, cleaned tables and picked things up on the floor. “It was nice seeing so much people donating and walking for a good cause as a family or alone,” Abdon Zavaleta says, “It was my first-time volunteering and it was fantastic. I loved it. I got to meet and work with fun and kind people. I honestly love cleaning and helping out in the community but just never had the time until now.”
