On Tuesday, July 9th, Division 15 had its July laser tag DCM. Not only did Key Clubbers get to learn many new things such as upcoming events, announcements, and cheers, but they were also able to bond through an irreplaceable experience. The Main Spirit Coordinators worked hard to make sure the club learned the cheers properly for the Region Picnic, leading through stomps, clamps, and rhythm. Right after the DCM the members rushed to play two games of laser tag. First was an individual game, with Andrew Regalado as the winner, and next was the team game—Red vs. Green, with Green as the winners. Overall, it was a DCM filled with information and summer fun like no other.

By: D15 LTG, Amy He Key Club International Convention 2013 was truly a new, incredible experience! With the Cali-Nev-Ha District, the CNH Bees toured historic monuments and museums, including Lincoln Monument, World War II Monument, Washington Monument, Smithsonian Museum, Spy Museum, and much more! Learning the history of our country was an experience truly to remember. When ICON began, we met Key Clubbers from all across the world-from Jamaica, Caribbean-Atlantic, Canada, and much more. We also elected the International Board. To take part in this election to select the leaders of Key Club on the international level was remarkable. And of course, CNH cheered with all our spirit throughout the convention! Though we intimidated quite a number of districts, we are proud to be CNH Bees! FROM THE EAST TO THE WEST! YOU KNOW WE'RE THE BEST! WE'RE THE DISTRICT WITH THE STING! AND THAT'S WHY WE SING! WE'RE THE BEES BUZZ BUZZ! WE'RE THE BEES BUZZ BUZZ! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PARTY HARDY! CNH BEES!

Where is ICON 2014, everyone? YES OUR VERY OWN CNH TERRITORY ANAHEIM! I encourage all of you to go and truly understand the scope of Key Club International and its impact on the world.

Kiwanis’ 4th of July Picnic By: Jaie Peshawaria On Thursday, July 4th, our members had the opportunity to volunteer at Chino Hills’ annual 4th of July picnic. What better way to celebrate America’s birthday than showing the true American spirit of kindness. Our Kiwanis sponsor, the Kiwanis Club of Chino Hills, had invited our club to this event, so we were of course, ecstatic. Myself and my fellow Chino Hills High members were at the Big League Dreams sports complex early in the morning at around 8:30 to help set-up the Kiwanis booth. The actual event did not start until 10am, but we had to ensure that everything was perfect. The cardboard airplanes that were to be given away for free seemed so simple to make, but were in truth, pretty tricky. In the end, we managed to make enough. At 10am, the event officially started, and we could definitely feel the intensity. Many families wandered around the complex, enjoying themselves and celebrating the wonderful day. There is this always this indescribable feeling that you get when you make a child smile. Personally, I felt this feeling many times throughout the event. On one occasion, around 11am, there was a family of four walking around near our booth. This young boy was looking around, when all of a sudden; he spots the Kiwanis booth, and the sign that read, “Free Toys.” You could see the excitement on his face as he urged his family to follow him to the booth. The joy on his face when he took that inflatable balloon could make anyone feel great. That was just one instance; just imagine what the rest of the day was like. Many children and even some adults were interested in our American History Trivia game. The goal of the game was to try and answer three questions right. If the person answered all three correctly, they would win a free book of their choice. This collection of books was generously donated by the Chino Hills Kiwanis President, Mr. Bill Taylor. The questions varied, depending on age or grade level. I was surprised by how quickly the books were being won. Eventually, the difficulty of the questions went from, “How many states are there?” to “Which three presidents died on July 4th?” Still, some people were still able to get all three correct, so that was awesome to see. Our Key Clubbers were having a great time interacting with our Kiwanis. Throughout the day, they gave us a few pointers, which were very helpful, and also gave us a couple of suggestions for service events which we could do together in the future. As the event came to its scheduled ending, 2pm, the festivity certainly did not end until the last minute. Our Key Club was able to showcase our love for service on a day that is all about celebrating kindness and it was certainly something special to be apart of.

JDRF Charity Car Show By: Karen Tseng On June 22nd, key clubbers from Los Osos High School gathered at the local Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario for the JDRF Charity Car Show. It was a sizzling hot day that started out early in the morning for the volunteers, some of which had to arrive as early as 7 A.M. Members who arrived for the first shift were asked to help out with traffic and guiding cars into the right directions. With their bright neon vest on, a few volunteers guided lost and confused cars to the right parking lot and competing cars to the correct field. As for the other volunteers who arrived for the second shift, they organized the kid’s booths and games. Likewise, there were various types of games and activities for the kids to be involved in. It was an amazing experience to see the smiles and happiness flowing from them. There were numerous exciting games set up, like throwing a ping pong ball into a toilet bowl to guessing how many coins were in a jar. The one game that caught everybody’s eyes was the candy booth, attracting kids and adults alike. Since the charity car show was sponsored by JDRF, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, all the candies and gums were sugar-free, allowing everyone to enjoy the goodies! Furthermore, varieties of cars lined up one by one next to each other, modeling their squeaky clean engines to their expensive interior on the grass of the park. Hundreds of cars showed up from all throughout California to be showcased in this competition for such a genuine cause. It was an amazing experience to have gone through. From the various enthusiastic faces to the vintage race cars that lined up one after another, Key Club members of Los Osos will not forget about this memorable day!

Region Picnic By: Sarah Jeon, Alison Meas, Andrew Regalado In order to join the fun at the Region 13 Picnic, there were three specific requirements. Ruben S. Ayala Key Club covered all the officers and members in one aspect by hosting a canned food drive. With the mindset that service does not stop when summer arrives, [our] team pushed for this spontaneous idea despite the limited amount of time. By organizing this simple style of service, it allowed our club to contribute towards our region and be more interactive with our members, as well as donate additional cans. The Region 13 Picnic is, by many Key Clubbers, now considered one of the most successful events of the year! Spread out on the field of Butterfield Park were EZ ups from all of Region 13 each providing different merchandise, ranging from crazy bread to decorative headbands to boba milk tea. Despite the intense, summer heat, nothing could damper the giraffe spirit as they played water games and other types of fun ice-breakers. The main event was the spirit battle, where each division “battled” one another by taking turns displaying their cheers and overall Key Club spirit. With the Giraffes’ strong efforts and prevailing spirit, they, for now two years in a row, won first place and took home the spirit stick! Overall the Region 13 Picnic created countless memories. It brought all of the Giraffes together as we cheered in unison. Also as we went throughout the day, everybody in Region 13 interacted with each other. The goal of bringing Region 13 close as one unit has definitely been achieved through the amazing event that has become the highlight to many Key Clubbers’ summer. The Region 13 picnic really showed that no matter what division or school you are from, that all Key Clubbers have the passion of service, the love for being spirited, and that we are all unified no matter where we are serving.

Fourth of July Fireworks By: Kayla Yamada Key Club volunteers from Upland and Alta Loma Key Clubs helped the Upland-Foothill Kiwanis club at the Upland Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular held at Upland High's stadium. Volunteers were there from 5pm to help the snack booth and vendors set up. We also tied water jugs to the legs of tents so they would not blow over. Once the event began, Key Clubbers and Kiwanians manned the snack booth selling everything from candy to cheeseburgers to snow cones. It was great to work side-by-side with the Kiwanians and get to know our supporting club better. I worked at a window to take orders, and practice my rusty math skills, while others put together the food or worked at other windows. After hours of hard work, we cleaned up and finally got to relax. A perfect end to that night was watching the exciting firework display with my fellow Key Clubbers.

Great Camp Out

Summer Planning

By: Itzel Romero

By: Kenny Yoo

The great camp out is an event for our Key Clubbers to help at Fairground events.

Upland Christian Academy has been working on several different things throughout the summer. Upland Christian is planning for an improved year of dedication and service by planning a great assembly to attract new members. We will do so by planning a presentation to explain what Key Club is and what our goals are. The assembly will take place sometime during the fall at one of our chapels. Aside from planning, individuals have also been shelving books at the Paul A. Biane library in Victoria Gardens, at their own convenience.

Kids from all over the community gather to spend time with each other and bond with the community leaders and learn things like the importance of working amongst each other and using one another to be supportive.

Hello Giraffes! I cannot expressed how proud I am of our division for winning the spirit stick at Region Picnic! I always feel honored to be able to serve such an amazing division, and I cannot express that enough. NOW LET’S WIN IT AGAIN AT REGION BEACH CLEAN UP!

(909) 732 - 8205 d15newsed@ gmail.com

Anyways, some of us are in the middle of our summer while others (like me) are nearing our end! I hope you all have had a great summer. This means finishing up our summer homework and getting ready for the new school year. It can get pretty hectic, so I have included an article about balancing everything. Sometimes it does get tough though, but I have faith in you guys! Currently, I am working on making our division website. It was tough figuring out what design we should use, but now that I have one in mind, please look forward to one coming out in the upcoming months! However, I do want to make it the best for YOU, so if there’s anything you would like to see in the division website, please do drop an e-mail by! Have a great summer and keep serving!
