Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
Happy January, Belugas! I hope everyone had a good ending to their semester and to 2020! This much-needed break from school is definitely one of the most relieving times of the year, and personally, I’m going to use the time to relax from the hectic school schedule and get caught up on Key Club work. As the term is coming to a close in April, get ready for your new LTG! I am so proud to be able to be the Lt. Governor of one of the best divisions of CNH, and I intend to make the most of every event we have left before my elect will take over for the 2021 -2022 term! I can’t wait to see what comes of the end of our term, and hope we can all go out strong and elect and train our successors with confidence! Spouting Into Service,
Emily Lu Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021
Editor Hello Everyone! Welcome to 2021! I hope you are all continuing to stay safe and healthy. In light of the new year, I wanted to remind everyone to stay mentally healthy too. 2020 was a tough year, but we got through it. Now, as we make new years resolutions for 2021, please remember that it’s okay to just survive for now. Work on getting enough sleep, managing your time, and staying healthy. Then, once you manage to do that, you can focus on growing as a person. We are still in the middle of a pandemic, so remember that it is okay to be struggling right now. And, your Key Club family is always here for you, whether it is to just talk, or to help you out of your situation. Last, remember that no matter what you are going through, someone else is probably going through something similar. It is our job as members of society to make sure we do what we can to help others, so that people don’t have to go through the same struggles. I love you guys so much, so please stay safe and stay positive. I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us!
Excited to Serve,
Ria Parikh News Editor 2020-2021
Fairytale Formal
The Fairytale Formal was an incredible DCM! Put together by the amazing LTGs of D15 South, East, and North, the event was just like a virtual Homecoming. We got to do karaoke, play among us, have dinner, and meet new people all from home! This was the perfect opportunity to dress up, which was fun and broke the monotony of wearing sweatpants everyday. Personally, I spent most of the event in the among us breakout rooms, in which I got to play with my best friend while also meeting a ton of new people. An all around wonderful event, this was probably my favorite so far.

Thanksgiving Goodie Bags The Thanksgiving Bags of Appreciation event was my favorite service event of the term so far! I loved getting to bond with Division 35 East during the event, and it was the closest thing we’ve had to an inperson event. Working at the drop-off locations was also very exciting to see the result of everyone’s hard work! When we donated the bags to a local fire station, they were so grateful and excited to give us a tour of the fire truck while we were there! We were able to complete 200 hours from this project as a division, and I couldn’t be happier with the work put in by everyone to work towards our service hour goal!

Color a Smile Cranes for Care
Submitted By: Alexis Villamil
This month, I participated in a Key Club at home service event named “Color A Smile. It allowed members to print coloring pages and color them with many kinds of materials such as crayons, markers, and colored pencils. I printed out many coloring pages, colored them, and mailed them out. I am glad that I participated, and I encourage everyone to help support this event!
- Alexis Villamil, Ayala High The cranes for care event was a unique service event for the club. Using the website cranes4cancer we were able to make and customize virtual cranes and attach positive messages to be able to send out. The website worked really smoothly and I had a great time making every crane different and a fun message to go with it. Time really flew by when making the cranes and I even made some with other club members.

Dog Toy Making
Submitted By: Valeria Gomez
It was very fun, I liked that the people who I was placed with were so chill and very inclusive, and the time honestly flew by. The toys were easy to make and the instructions were very simple. The people leading the thing were very organized, and therefore I had a great time!
- Makayla Hernandez, Chino Hills High The Dog Toy Making Event was one of the best so far this year! Although I didn’t participate in the Zoom call, making these dog toys on my own was a very relaxing experience. I feel like, especially during times like these, it was a less chaotic activity and it gave me a fun task to do by myself. I hope we have more events similar to this one in the future.
- Ashley Ma, Chino Hills High
Our club took inspiration from the division and did our own dog toy making service event on zoom. It was really fun to be able to work with our hands and make a physical product. I really enjoyed being able to make the toys while on zoom with our members. I’ve really missed them, so I enjoyed hearing their voices and seeing them. It was also really nice being able to make something for the dogs. I hope they get good use of the toys.

Doing the dog toy making event was honestly very fun. Each dog toy was different from the next due to the amount of strips used and how big the shirts were. For the dog toys I created, I used a variety of colors like red, black, white, blue, green and pink. At first the dog toys took time to make since I had never done them before but after a few I got the hang of it and enjoyed it to the end.

year in review 2020 was a crazy year! From a worldwide pandemic to global civil right movements, we saw it all. The past year was not an easy one, filled with unimaginable loss, struggle, and pain for so many. But in it’s ups and downs, we also learned how to adapt, overcome, and change. We aren’t out of the fire yet, but with a new year comes new opportunities. We don’t have to make sure this is our best year yet, lets just make sure we get through it together. Way too much happened in 2020 to cover it all, but here are some of our personal key achievements!
In this term last year we...
staying healthy As we cautiously start 2021, I think it’s safe to say that predicting what will happen is dangerous. Will our upside down world continue to get crazier, or can we finally get back to normal? What even is normal anymore? Well, one thing we do know for sure, is that your mental health is important. If you do anything this year, please make sure that it is self care. Here are some of my tips on how to stay mentally safe and healthy.

Spotlight Spotlight on Service Mission: To promote International and District initiatives as well as to encourage active participation with organizations/initiatives. What it is: CNH Key Club’s spotlight on service is a way for clubs to participate in unique, impactful service projects. Every month, a new service project is released by the CNH Service Projects Committee with a service guide. The club can then use this guide to create their own project that positively impacts their community. After, they can submit it to CNH for possible recognition in the District Newsletter, inspiring others with their creative
projects. What You Can Do: You can encourage your club to participate and make sure you help out! For example, January’s SOSP is the Children’s Miracle Network. You can check out the website for information and tips, then work with your club officers to come up with a creative service project to support them. Finally, make sure to submit your project to CNH by February 5th to receive recognition and inspire others to participate.
