Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

Happy February, Belugas! I hope you are all doing well as we approach elections season! Electing our successors is sad, yet relieving, and personally, I have been so excited to train my new LTG Elect. Even virtually, the sense of nostalgia I felt at Conclave this year was so surreal, and I couldn’t help but think back to the aspirations I had at the beginning of my term. I intend to make the most of our last few months together, and it saddens me to know that many of our Key Club journeys will come to an end soon. Regardless, I hope you make that last Key Club friend, attend at least one more DCM, and wear your D15S shirt with pride one last time. However, I still hope that we can finish off the term strong! Until April, I hope to see everyone making the most of the last quarter of the term, with more fun DCMs, fundraisers, and service activities! See you at the February DCM!

Spouting Into Service,

Emily Lu Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021

Editor Hello Everyone! Happy February! Though this is the shortest month of the year, there is a lot happening! In Key Club, good luck to all people who have run or are preparing to run for leadership positions. Remember to be yourself, prepare the best you can, and believe in yourself. You can accomplish anything with hard work and confidence. Also, to anyone who is on the fence about going for a position in the future, my advice to you is to go for it! You have nothing to lose, and a lot to gain from running. Along with Key Club elections, there’s a lot happening this month. For one, we have two approaching three day weekends. Make sure to actually use those to take those mental health breaks you deserve. Taking breaks, time to ourselves, and self care can be some of the most productive things we can do sometimes. And, with the time on your hands, there are a ton of other fun ways to be productive too! You participate in service of course, but I would also recommend learning some cultural history in honor of Black History Month. No matter what you decide to do, please stay safe and healthy while doing it. See you soon!

Excited to Serve,

Ria Parikh News Editor 2020-2021

Winter WonderlanDCM Attending the DCM was awesome and surprisingly interesting. I enjoyed meeting people from other schools and the other key clubs, as it was interesting to make new friends and learn about what they do to help the community. One of my favorite parts was the teambuilding exercise, which helped get everyone to work together as one. Something important that I took out of the experience was how important and strong people are when they work as a team, and how much of a positive impact we can make on the world/ community as one. Overall, it was an amazing learning experience where I got to make new friends and learn the value of teamwork.

The Winter Wonderland DCM was a wonderful way to start my Winter Break. The most memorable part of the DCM was when the Lieutenant Governors from Divisions 15 and 36 made gingerbread houses, but blind-folded. The officers and members in every room had to communicate with the LTGs to make a magnificent house. In the visual, you can even see our beautiful house in the making! Collaborating with Divisions 15 North’s LTG Katherine Nguyen and a countless amount of other Key Clubbers from all over Division 15 and 36 was an experience I did not know I needed. Just when I thought the night couldn’t get any better, we had a karaoke night where everyone got to laugh and sing their lungs out to “Baby” by Justin Bieber. It was a night to remember.

Holiday Projects The Care Packages Fundraiser for PTP was such a fun experience to be a part of! It was so exciting to be able to buy packages for my friends, and have them delivered right to their door! Also, who doesn't love fuzzy socks and candy? I would love to see more fundraisers similar to this one in the future!

The Hope for Holidays event allowed for our club to spread joy to those who deserve it. During this time, the holidays were tough for many people. The cards were hopefully a light for some people during these dark times. We are happy to be able to spread joy to people as a club. We hope to continue this trend and spread joy and hope throughout the new year.

Donating Dishes

As one of our ongoing service events, we are playing the game Rice Race. We are able to play the game and it donates food to those in need. This event is really great because it allows us to do an amazing service from basically anywhere. You can have fun and do service at the same time. I appreciate my club for choosing service events such as this one where they benefit so many people.

Our other ongoing event is a food drive. We are collecting non-perishable foods to give to our community. We haven’t had our drop-off date yet but we’re hoping to have enough food to donate to many people. We are gathering a variety of foods that will hopefully reach many people. Our club is excited and optimistic for this event.

Coloring for a Cause The Color a Smile event was a very fun event and went toward a good cause, which are both good reasons to participate in this month’s event. Coloring the pages and listening to music was a good way to spend my time being productive. I haven’t colored in forever, so this event brought back a lot of memories of coloring papers in marker when I was younger. Overall, this event was very fulfilling, and I will definitely do an event like this again whenever there is one.

Like the Coloring a Smile event, the “Write” Thing to Do, was another fun and enjoyable event from this month. Creating cards, drawing, and coloring pictures for this event were a fun way to participate in supporting a good cause. At times, the smell of sharpie and colored markers almost made me pass out but overall, I am still proud of the cards I created. Again, like the Coloring a Smile event, when another event like this arrives, I will definitely participate and give my support.
