A letter from our lovely LTG HAPPY JULY BELUGAS! I can't believe that it is already more than halfway into summer! I hope you guys had a wonderful Fourth of July, have been enjoying your summer, and getting your service in. The sun has been beating down on us these past few weeks, but I know that shouldn't stop us from serving our community. We are only at 500+ hours and it's already 3 months into the term! Please encourage more and more service so that we can reach our goal of 10,000 hours by next April. I know that we can do it with your hard work! When school comes around, make sure to have fun and interesting events and meetings so that you can retain members throughout the term and start off strong! Please be keeping in mind that Fall Rally season is in November as well! I know that as a division we can do it and reach our goals by the end of the term! Thank you all for your hard work and support throughout these 3 past months.

With love,

Gina Min

CLUB UPDATES: AYALA HIGH SCHOOL

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

BY MELANIE MANORAT, AYALA HIGH SCHOOL

6

The Independence Day Celebration at Veterans Park was an event primarily dedicated towards family and friends being able to enjoy and celebrate the Fourth of July. This event was a way for people to celebrate the United States through festive activities. For instance, people hadthe opportunity to listen to live music, eat food, play numerous games, and hang out in the open grass fields. The event lasted for many hours and was an opportunity for people to have fun and relax during the summer. Furthermore, two Key Club members and I were appointed to volunteer at the game booths for a majority of the time. We assisted the City of Chino Hills employees in a variety of carnival like games for children. These games ranged from mini golf to a ring toss. After the games were played, we would then proceed to give out prizes as well. Throughout the event, the members were quite positive and had a fun time engaging with many families and children. In conclusion, the Independence Day Celebration at Veteran Parks was very enjoyable and fun for the Key Club members and myself included. We all worked efficiently and diligently throughout the whole event. Even though, there weren t as many volunteers as anticipated, we still offered a great deal of assistance and service towards the City of Chino Hills and their event.

CLUB UPDATES: CHINO HILLS HIGH SCHOOL

I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Chino City Hall s Summer Concert (which is held every Thursday until August 16th). I arrived there at 5 PM to help set up the KIWANIS food stand (in which I helped in the rest of the event). Once the booth was set up, the concert started at 7 PM, but people came early and came to get some food that KIWANIS Chino was serving. For an hour, there was a continuous line of people wanting some burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, and more! I mainly served nachos and the pulledpork sandwiches when someone ordered them along with another volunteer. Other volunteers from our school s club were also at the event wrapping food and serving it along with drinks. While serving food, everyone also had the chance to hear the band on stage playing their music for the whole concert; it was great! At the end, once the line has settled down, volunteers were able to eat some of the good burgers KIWANIS had offered. The concert ended around 9 PM and all the volunteers just helped clean up the booth. Overall, I had a really good time serving the community of Chino and canNOt wait to volunteer at this event every Thursday!

CLUB UPDATES: park park clean clean up up MONTCLAIR HIGH SCHOOL On June 25, Montclair Key Club went to a park in Upland. Did a park clean up. Montclair Key Club President Monique Morales has a few words to share with us. I am so happy that this event went well. Everyone who was able to come out. Had a great time. I was so happy After picking up all the trash that was left. They did a few ice breakers. A couple of these ice breakers were like Last person stand, sleepy people, who is the thief and a couple more. They new members got a chance to really see how Key Club is a amazing club. That focuses on bounding and leadership also helping our communities. We are happy to say that this year is going to one for the books. Montclair Key Club is still growing and continues to improve.
