CLUB UPDATES: AYALA HIGH SCHOOL R E L A Y F O R L I F E
submitted by: Melanie Manorat
Relay for Life is a 24 hour event held at Ruben S. Ayala park with the aim of fundraising for cancer. This would be my third and sadly, final time attending this wonderful event. This event started after a man started to walk 24 hours around a track to raise money for cancer. With his success, the event is now held in multiple places around the world. Though you are not required to walk the whole 24 hours, simply seeing everyone working together to fight cancer gives you the incentive to do so! At the event, there are multiple booths selling raffles and more, all raising money to cure cancer. The volunteers help out at the club booth and get to hang out with their friends as they explore the variety of booths and games at the event! Not only that, but cancer survivors and sufferers are recognized for their strength. It gives loved ones the chance to remember those who did not survive. A key event is their luminaria walk, where all the lights are shut off once dark. The path around the track is lit up with little lights, each representing a life lost to the battle of cancer. This event is personally impactful for me as I have had a number of close loved ones who have passed away during their battle with cancer. Every year I am glad I got to participate and remember them, as well as help those who are now battling cancer. It makes me happy to know that those who are fighting are not alone through the pain of their disease. Even though we may be under the sun in the hot heat of summer, knowing that you’re there for a good cause and that you are saving lives wipes away such issues.

CLUB UPDATES: CHINO HILLS HIGH SCHOOL CONCERTS AT CITY HALL submitted by: Priscila Chen Hsu On July 19th I was a volunteer at the Concerts at Chino's City Hall. At the event, I worked alongside fellow members of Key Club, including some officers and some members. What was truly inspiring was how willing everyone was to help out and work with the Kiwanis at the food stand. We were in charge of putting together (and wrapping) hot dogs and burgers, handing out drinks, and serving nachos with salsa. Everyone worked together to satisfy the customers and bring a smile to their face. Key Club volunteers and Kiwanis volunteers alike worked together to make the booth a success. In addition, we got to listen to the concerts while distributing food. All the volunteers worked really hard and we all experienced the joys of serving in the community. I had fun at this event and would definitely encourage more members to volunteer at the events to come.

P A C K E T REGISTRATION MAKING submitt ed by: Ed ward Pa rk
Every year, right before we start school, we hold a registration packet making event. At this event members will be split into different groups that will complete a certain task, for example one group might be adding additional content or information to the packet while others may be making sure that each packet contains the information that is needed! This is an easy way all members can gain extra hours, plus get we get our packets before everyone else does! It’s a fun event and is definitely worth the work!

CLUB UPDATES: COLONY HIGH SCHOOL
ENGLISH SPRINGS PARK CLEAN-UP
submitted by: Gievrrlyn Guerrero During the second month of summer, members were able to go to the English Springs Park at Chino Hills to clean it up.Initially, I came a bit late as I went to the wrong side of the park to enter(going through the residential area!) so I had to reroute and look around to find the entrance. Of course, I found it and walked my way through the path surrounded by the most green grass and very tall trees. It was quite a sight to see, especially with the large body of water in the midst of all the park, little turtles swimming in the water and ducks walking amongst the people. On my way to find Gina, I passed by some other key club members and asked them where I had to go to look. They gave me directions, though I walked the wrong way and had to walk back around in a semi circle to finally get there. She cheerfully greeted me, and with a bag in hand, I went on my way to clean up the park. Coincidently, I happened to meet other members from my school and walked around, picking up trash with them. The others and I walked around the beautiful park, cleaning it up to the best of our ability. Though we expected there to be a lot of trash, enough to fill a trash bag to the brim, there wasn’t. At first, one would expect to be disappointed at the loss of being to clean up a lot, but it actually was something to be cheerful about because that meant that many of the parkÂgoers were cleaning up after themselves. When it was time to go, we walked back to regroup with the members, and after taking a picture with our success in our hands, we said our goodbyes and went about our separate ways.

D15S BELUGAS!
During the month of July, our division composed of the best belugas out there, had a park cleanup to help maintain the wellbeing of the environment as well as make new friendships! It was a very fun event in which several students from all around D15S came and served the community by picking up trash within the park; alongside our LTG, Gina Min. During the picking of trash all over, key clubbers were also able to adore the scenery of the English Springs Park with gooses laying around, turtles swimming, the waterfall, and pass by greeting residents of or near Chino Hills; furthermore, socialize with other key clubbers from other schools in the division. Overall, the event was very fun and great for the community; D15S can't wait to hold more division events in the future!
