Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the Objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and world; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.
LTG’s Note Happy October, Belugas! The second quarter of the term is already almost complete and I couldn’t be prouder of all we’ve accomplished so far! Even though we’ve been at home, our division still thrives in service and has completed close to 1,000 hours! I appreciate your dedication to Key Club despite busy school schedules. The highlight of my months has been seeing you all at DCMs, and I can’t wait to see what more memories we can make the rest of the term. Please know we’re in this together and I’m always here for you! On another note, Happy Halloween and happy RTC month! I hope you have a fun holiday even in quarantine, and I’m very excited for our upcoming Region Training Conference. Until then, remember to take time for yourself and be safe! Spouting Into Service,
Emily Lu Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021
A letter from the
Editor Hello Everyone! Welcome to October! Are you ready for holiday season? I know I am. With everything going on right now, life can get pretty stressful. Especially now, with Halloween coming up in the midst of this pandemic, it’s hard not to miss our normal high school experience. It seems like there is no time for ourselves, to virtually hang out with friends, have fun, and be teenagers. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the year. Have you made any new Key Club friends lately? While we are stuck at home, there has never been a better time to meet new people and do new things, just from home. It’s up to us make this year memorable, and I know we can. If you are ever feeling lonely or sad, just remember your Key family. We are experiencing this together, so as long as we stick together and stay positive, we can make this year our best yet. Stay safe and I’ll see you soon at RTC!
Excited to Serve,
Ria Parikh News Editor 2020-2021
Movie Night
August DCM RECAP
Submitted By: Ashley Ma
I had a really great time at the recent DCM Movie Night. Aside from the movie being a bit laggy, I was able to enjoy it and it was still fun to be able to talk and chat with a few of the members even though we were through zoom. I think Emily did a great job running it and I was well informed about the recent updates in the club as well. I was overall really pleasantly surprised at the DCM, and was happy to watch Tangled again after four years of not seeing it!

The movie DCM was a great bonding experience for key clubbers. The ice breaker was really enjoyable and fun and everyone got to chat and talk about the movie before hand. It was really organized and everyone got put into different groups to watch movies with their friends while getting to know others. It was a fun way to get to know other members in the division in a comfortable environment.
- Naya Lee, Chino Hills High The movie night DCM was one of the best virtual DCMs I’ve been to this year! Although there was less time to talk to my friends, it was still very nice. It was relaxing and the movie was very good! I think, as we adapt to a more virtual Key Club environment, movie nights would be a great addition. It also gives a chance for new Key Clubbers to get more comfortable with the club!

Beluga Boba Fundraiser Don’t you just wish you could get boba delivered to your house? Well that’s exactly what we did during our fundraiser for August! Through our collaboration with Ding Tea, Division 15 South was able to fundraise about $421 within a day of delivering not only boba, but also D15S merch all around our division. During this event, I was able to have the satisfaction of knowing my money went to a good cause, and the pleasure of finally being able to drink boba after almost 6 months of staying at home.

Various Service Projects “Spreading awareness” is an event where you create advertisements or posts educating the people around you on global issues. On my story on Instagram, I posted several posts regarding some problems and ways to help the environment such as conserving water. This event was certainly enjoyable, and I would definitely want to try this fun project again! Submitted By: Alexis Villamil

Through the Atlas Go app I was able to kill two birds with one stone! Whether its sweating from hours of getting exercise or meditating for a better mental state, Atlas Go donates money for every time a person does active work. This especially opens the range for people to make a social impact because it appeals to athletes who don’t usually have time to attend other volunteer events. Simply with the press of a button someone could help donate to charity while doing their everyday activities. This also encourages lazy people like me to get up off the couch and make a change!

Key Club Experience My name is Yahir and this is my second year in Montclair’s Key Club. It is great seeing the club expanding especially compared to last year. Although I haven’t met many of the new members, the ones I have met seem to be very fun and excited to be part of the club. The club this year seems to be running very smoothly given the current situation. The officers are all very responsible and taking care of the club and I am looking forward to seeing how the club goes this year.

Luckily for me I got to start Key Club last year at Montclair High School. I am glad I got to experience those few months of what Key Club truly is. I got to meet new people and serve my community. It is fairly different now, with quarantining and social distancing. The online events are somewhat easier than the in-person events. It is still fulfilling knowing that I can make a difference from my own home.
I appreciate the effort my club is putting in to the events although they might feel unmotivated due to quarantine. It is a very different experience this year. Our club has had an amazing increase in membership. We are proud to share positivity with all these new members in such a difficult time. I’m happy that Key Club can be something that inspiring for the members.

UNICEF trick or treat: region training: /
Key club international International Spotlight Virtual Trick or Treat for UNICEF Mission: Add meaning and purpose to October and Halloween by collecting donation money to help children and support nonprofit organization UNICEF. Background: Trick or Treating is an important part of American Culture, allowing kids to travel door to door and collect candy. Why not collect funds too? Throughout October, you can collect money (virtually this year) with your UNICEF collection box and donate it. This will be part of UNICEF’s mission to put children first, and will be part of Key Club’s Eliminate Project. Our Impact: According to kiwanis.org, “In 2010, the Kiwanis family partnered
with UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) through a joint effort called The Eliminate Project. As of July 30, 2019, The Eliminate Project has raised more than US$86 million. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is an easy — and fun — way for the Kiwanis family to raise money to protect moms and babies from this deadly disease.” What You Can Do: Participate in the virtual Trick or Treat UNICEF experience. You can register for a digital UNICEF orange box, and earn virtual coins that
have real impact by participating in different activities throughout the month of October. FOR MORE INFORMATION GO TO UNICEFUSA.ORG/TRICK-OR-TREAT AND KIWANIS.ORG/CHILDRENS-FUND/TRICK-ORTREAT-FOR-UNICEF
