LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR Hey Koalas! I hope everyone has had a successful transition back to school. A new year means another chance to make something of ourselves in high school. Do you want to be the genius, the class clown, the athlete, or even the Key Club person? It’s all up to you to decide what legacy you want to leave at school. This applies to Key Club as well. What kind of Key Clubber do you want tox be? Do you want to be the member who always attend events, the officer who puts in more work than is expected, the Key Clubber who shows undying passion for this organization? It’s all up to you to decide. As we begin the 2014-2015 school year, remember that this is the perfect opportunity to begin advertising this amazing organization. Do your part as a member to spread the great things Key Club does throughout your whole school. Reach out to your friends, help make posters, tell your fellow classmates about your amazing Key Club experience, and any other way you can make Key Club one of the most successful clubs on campus. As the school year begins, never forget about what your priorities are. Be sure to remember that your grades should be more important than Key Club. Even though all you koalas have unwavering passions for service and Key Club, always keep your grades in mind. Keep your grades up, koalas! Never forget what is important. The first quarter of the term has passed and I have been truly inspired by your actions as Key Clubbers. The service events and fundraisers that have been organized by you all make me so proud to serve the best division in the world. By your hard work and dedication to serving the community and raising funds for Eliminate and Pediatric Trauma Program you have proven to be the epitome of true Key Clubbers. I couldn’t be more proud to serve as your Lieutenant Governor.
Celebrating in Service, Monica Reyes Lieutenant Governor 2014-2015

Cleveland’s Key Club accomplished their goal of having thirteen people attend the ConKerr Cancer event. Even though its summer, there will be people who stay dedicated to Key Club and attend their events. The people who came made over twenty pillow cases for people. The members had fun while making pillow cases. They learned something new while meeting new people.
Vice President Aram The Region 7 beach clean up was a very enjoyable experience. I was able to have a fun time with my friends and the new friends I made. The work itself wasn't very difďŹ cult. We just separated in groups and cleaned up while conversing with your teammates. After the cleanup, the majority of us stayed and relaxed at the beach. It was just like a normal beach day with a lot of people.

Region 7 Beach Cleanup Splash splash…pick up your trash? Well, yes! If you attended the Annual Region 7 Beach Clean Up at Dockweiler Beach on July 19, then you know exactly what that means. At this fun, summer yearly event, all of Region 7 was able to bond together as a Ohana once again while beautifying the lovely coast. We also held Division 25 East’s DCM there which was very unforgettable because it was on the beach, and near the end everyone chilled out making s’mores and relaxed on the warm sand or took a dip in the cool water. This event was such an enjoyable day, until next time Region 7!

“Hello, Koalas! Summer is coming to an end, but that doesn't stop the service! Our club did not have many events, but we definitely joined the division for various events. On July 19, we had the Region 7 Beach Clean Up and July DCM at Dockweiler Beach. It was a great time with the Region 7 Ohana, and the "Thuggin' for Service" DCM was really fun because we had to make our "hoods" with our teams. There are more events and fundraisers to come in August!“

Kennedy RUN OR DYE Memorial Day, Kennedy key clubbers got to experience the world’s most colorful 5k! Run or Dye was certainly one of the most enjoyable runs that Kennedy has ever done. We had the opportunity to paint each other and the sky. In the end we cleaned up the running pathways and got treated to some free Run or Dye gear.
Reflections “Summer has just begun but that doesn’t
mean the service stops! This term we have so many exciting service events planned for our members to participate in. Color Run one of the events the members (including the board) are super ecstatic about! We also started to sell our koala wristbands again, which is one of many beneficial fundraisers to come. I can hopefully show that service doesn’t have to be boring but also fun. This way as a club we can gain more members!” Jesse Gonzaga, Club Vice President

Northridge Academy Water Gun Fun
OFFICER REFLECTION
During the Region 7 Beach Clean Up our club decided to sell Water Guns and Water with flavor for 1$ each. We wanted to be able to help the members cool off with a refreshing drink and have fun in the sun. We made posters and flyers to get their attention and soon enough it worked. It was a definitely a great fundraising idea since it was pretty inexpensive but was in high demand being in the hot sun. It was a pretty ingenious plan too since we knew it was easily profitabel and we’d be able to raise some funds for our own club. I’m glad our president put this together because I had a blast running around and cheering while yelling to go buy our goodies.
Margie Santos | Northridge Academy President
There’s been up and downs, but we’ve pushed through. Northridge has been trying to up our game to represent our home club. We may not be a big club, but we have some pretty rad devoted members. My goals for the 2014-2015 term are: member retention, creating competent members, inspiring people to run for a position, having fun, memorable service events and fundraisers, and to build a closer relationship with my fellow D25E clubs.

ConkerrCANCER
It’s the little things in life that counts. Little things, such as pillowcases. This month Monroe, Cleveland, and Northridge Academy Key Club teamed up with an organization called Conkerr Cancer. Their goal is to make various objects to brighten up the days of children struck with illnesses. This month our focus was pillowcases. Besides being a golden opportunity to make a child’s day, this event was also a lesson in sewing and team work. One by one, each member tried their hand at the sewing machine to assemble their pillow cases. Whenever one of us were lost or confused, another member would step in to help get the job done. Not only was this an event between Monroe, Cleveland, and Northridge, but we were also fortunate enough to have a free lunch served by the Kiwanis Club of Chatsworth. Seeing members interact with different clubs and Kiwanis is always a rewarding experience to be a part of, because it helps members realize just how far Key Club reaches out. By the end of the event, we made over 100 pillow cases that will brighten up any hospital room and bring a smile to many children’s face, just as this event brought smiles to our faces.

KIwanis LINK CREW
The Kiwanis event was really interesting. I was introduced to the event through the Chatsworth Kiwanis. Key Clubbers served lunches to the Link Crew at Chatsworth High School. Because it was really hot and it was a last minute event, not a lot of key clubbers showed up. Despite the setbacks, I still enjoyed serving the lunch to the hungry students because I can see their smiling faces as they received their fresh hamburgers! After we served lunch, the Kiwanis gave me a veggie burger because they ran out of the normal kind. I was disappointed at first, but when I took a bite of the veggie burger, I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I originally thought I would. Key club not only provides me with service, but I guess it forces me to try new things and take risks as well.

Why did you join Key Club?
I joined Key Club because-- Service! Ever since I was young I enjoyed doing community service and experiencing the joy that comes with helping others. So when I saw Key Club at club rush, I knew I had to join. After being a part of the club for three years, I am still psyched to be a part of such a KOALITY life changing organization.
Why do you love Key Club?
I love Key Club because it has given me so many opportunities to serve and lead at the same time. I can not even start to explain how many smiles I have seen for all the community service projects I have done. Not only the smiles from the community I serve, but also my own. If you are wondering what made me stay (aka my Key Club moment) was the moment when a shy elementary school girl that I had been having one sided conversations with (because she was so quiet) every time I saw her at a monthly event, gave me a card with a drawing of me and her inside a heart made of pom poms. It literally melted my heart like Olaf during the summer. I was so happy I had made such an impact on her life and that not only put a smile on my face, but also created a GOLDEN memory that will last a lifetime. I have also gained so much from the leadership roles I have been able to play from committee member to division secretary, I have been able to see the behind-the-scenes of the DCM’s and community service events. All these experiences combined with the iconic Key Club spirit have created, are creating, and will create BEEutiful memories!
FUN FACTS
I love food! My favorite food include frozen yogurt-- particularly from Pinkberry. I also happen to be a lover of anything Disney, Youtube, Kdrama, or DIY related. I may be quiet sometimes but I promise that I am always more than willing to talk and meet members and listen to your life stories! I cannot wait to see you all at future service events!
