Lieutenant Governor|Monica Reyes

Hey Koalas!

With our spirits high and passion for Key Club as marvelous as ever, we begin to prepare for Fall Rally South 2014. The division has raised a great amount for Pediatric Trauma Program. We will be granted the unbelievable opportunity to celebrate the whole District’s efforts to raise money for such a worthy cause. In addition to cheering for all the work we have done as a Koala Ohana, we prepare to spirit battle our way to the Spirit Stick. A major portion of Fall Rally South is the cheering. The exciting screams, the deafening responses to “How do you feel?” and the entertainingly unique division cheers fill the Magic Mountain atmosphere with our love and devotion to Key Club. This coming November 15 Division 25 East will be participating in Fall Rally South coming up in less than a month. Show off your division pride by flaunting the division shirt, division spirit pack, and division cheers to show how amazing the division we serve is. In addition to the excitements of Fall Rally South lie the piles of work that comes with the Fall semester of the school year. Keep calm and breathe. It can sometimes be a bit overwhelming, but never the less, don’t forget to treat yourselves right. Be nice to your body, take breaks, and take care of yourself. Your mental health should be one of your main priorities. Breathe and take it one assignment at a time. Division 25 East, I have had such an amazing time serving you all. As the first half of the term comes to a close, I look back at the amazing memories I have had with all of you. From the service events, socials, good times, and bad times, you have given me such fond experiences on which to reflect. I love you koalas! Never stop being beautiful Monica Reyes Division 25 East Lt. Governor

C THANG DIEP L E V E L FILL THE TRUCK A N D

I finally received the chance to attend Everybody Reads. It was my first time at the event so I was really nervous. I also did not know how the kids would behave! However, when I got to Noble Elementary school, everyone was so nice. Even the kids behave really well. I read a book called “Franklin Goes to School. It was about a turtle. i met this kid name Jeffrey and he was really nice. He was excited to learn and read with everyone. Although, he doubted his reading abilities, my group encouraged I'm to continue reading! We attempted to make the reading fun by playing games that are connected to the book. Overall, I would definitely come back to Everybody Reads. I also overcame my fear of kids!

GRANADA HILLS CHARTER REGION TRAINING CONFERENCE

Koalas are known for being the classiest division and always practicing professionalism whenever they get the chance. But when the whole region does it, we can all proudly say, as one OHANA, that it is definitely a million times better! On September 27th, 2014, Region 7 Training Conference was in action at John Burroughs High School. Workshops on how to be an amazing officer or a golden member? Yup. Special Kiwanis Guests? Of course. Reuniting with our other fellow divisions? Duh! Intense spirit battles and delicious pizza for lunch? You betcha. This was RTC 2014, and everyone can proudly say that it was a memorable, educational, spirit-filled one that pumped us up both in terms of falling in love with serving others and showing our undying spirit for Key Club. So next year, make sure to attend! Otherwise you’ll be missing out on making some awesome

Officer Reflection: Vice President Alina De Castro

“Hello Wonderful Koalas! I am so very proud of all that the Granada Key Club has accomplished this month. September has been a great month of service and spirit. During this month, the club that I serve participated in Granada's Club Rush, and we managed to recruit so many new, dedicated members! The club participated in the Stop Cancer walk and the TLC Dance A Thon, and we also participated in a couple of divisional events like September Clean Up and the Malibu Beach Triathlon. We also got to bond with our R7 OHANA at Regional Training Conference, where we were trained to be the best officers we can be! We also had a very successful fundraiser at California Pizza Kitchen during the month. But the best part of this month was definitely serving with all of you!”

Kennedy RUN OR DYE Memorial Day, Kennedy key clubbers got to experience the world’s most colorful 5k! Run or Dye was certainly one of the most enjoyable runs that Kennedy has ever done. We had the opportunity to paint each other and the sky. In the end we cleaned up the running pathways and got treated to some free Run or Dye gear.

Reflections “Summer has just begun but that doesn’t

mean the service stops! This term we have so many exciting service events planned for our members to participate in. Color Run one of the events the members (including the board) are super ecstatic about! We also started to sell our koala wristbands again, which is one of many beneficial fundraisers to come. I can hopefully show that service doesn’t have to be boring but also fun. This way as a club we can gain more members!” Jesse Gonzaga, Club Vice President

James Monroe High School Key Club Stop Cancer Walk: Monroe Key Club helped run registration at the walk!

MEND: At this event, we packaged food for the homeless and families in need with Van Nuys Key Club. Bowling Fundraiser: This month, Monroe Key Club had a bowling fundraiser. It served as a great way to bond with new members! Light the Night: A walk in which members supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s fight against cancer.

Officer Reflection: It is incredible to see how much Monroe’s club has grown! We have many dedicated member that will make great officers when it comes time to elect the new officer board. This has been an amazing month, and I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for Monroe Key Club in the coming months. -Aminata Diallo, Tech Editor

This hard work, dedication, and perseverance deem to be extremely inspiring to both the members as well as other officers throughout the division. There is no doubt that his legacy at Cleveland will be remembered for years to come.

Grant, however a relatively new club, has managed to stand out as a valuable, new asset to the division. Their hard work and dedication to an organization they had just joined has reignited the passions of both new and returning members reminding us that we all serve not only the community, but each other as well. The amount of spirit and leadership initiative from the club is truly astounding.
