Aloha Division 25 East! I hope you are having an amazing month and are striving to do your best as a student and as a member of Key Club international! I would like to thank each and every one of you for staying dedicated through rough times. This term had only started in March but I am having a blast and I hope to all are too! May DCM was an amazing event and if you didn’t go, you definitely missed out. Shoutout to Kennedy Key Club for hosting such an amazing DCM with many fun activities. With summer around the corner, I hope you are all ready for fun events such as banquet, otc, and region beach clean up! If you are an officer and interested in presenting at otc (officer training conference) please contact me or your president for more information. I hope everyone had successful AP testing and I believe that all of you will do an amazing job during finals week! Keep up the great work! See you soon koalas!

PAST EVENTS

MILES FOR melanoma “Miles for Melanoma are a series of events that allow participants to support and raise funds for the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) by taking part in any athletic activity they choose. Miles for Melanoma events take place across the United States and are hosted by many generous volunteers.” This year’s ‘Miles for Melanoma,’ was located in the backlot of Universal Studios. Although we had to wake up super early... It was an amazing service event, and we all had the chance to experience different things. At least for me, I had worked into a little kid zone where kids, and people at basically any age may come to this area and make masks, lanyards, play hula hoops, and earn prizes. I had the chance to work with kids and talk to all sorts of different people. Toward the end, the rest of our division met up at the finish line and cheered the runners on. B/c of how spirited and our energy, we pumped up their mood and made thousands of people smiles. After, we cleaned up the rest of the backlot, we had an opportunity to meet the minions, from ‘Despicable Me’. It was really fun to be serving back to the community, and being able to bond with our other clubs. So many people went from our division. I’m absolutely happy that our members went through this experience, and I’m sure they all had a wonderful time. -Monique Basto, Cleveland High School

Officer's reflection

It's been a great month for Monroe full of hardworking members and key club moments. We have done a couple events starting with Mend. Mend is our monthly service event where we help to package boxes and bags for the poverty. This event is always fun and has a great turnout. The members always have fun at this event. The next event we did was the Kiwanis 5k nature walk where we encouraged incoming freshmen to join key club. At this event we also passed out water to the walkers and motivated them. Finally, we had Victory for Victims walk where members passed out water to the runners and walkers. At this event I was a crossing guard and directed the runners and stopped incoming cars from hitting any runners. Things did get a little hectic but was fun experience. Our meetings have became very fun and members have became attentive. They enjoy the icebreaker a we put together and are excited to hear the great upcoming events. Overall it's been a month of success and Ohana.

We made hot dogs and burgers for the people who were hungry and finished the walk. It was super fun because we were able to bond with other clubs and Division 25W. We had the chance to bond with our Kiwanis and have them help us serve back to our community. I really do hope more people will get to experience moments like these.

Granada Hills Charter High School Kiwanis 5k Nature Walk // Micaela Yamane “Kiwanis 5k was an excellent event for our fellow koalas to mingle and get to know each other. At the 5k we chowed down on some burgers and served the participants as well. Over all the 5k was a great event that everyone should take part in at least once. –Historian Anthony Turcious Kiwanis 5k was an event held at a park. This event included a nature walk, burgers, hot dogs, and some great memories. While thise was a division 25 east and division 25 west event, Granada key club really bonded during this event, eventually even taking a little walk of their own after the event.

At this event, we Granada key club was able to serve its community in multiple ways. Some of Granada key club could be seen prepping burgers, and greeting walkers.

Northridge Academy High School Goals Northridge academy High school as we all now is a pretty small school, and for this reason our members are trying to find ways to gain more members. We all are amazed by how much people we have been recruiting lately. However, another of our goals would be to get all of our members to participate in our club events. The more people attending our events, the better our club looks, and our spirit level goes up! Just like the saying “The more the merrier”!

Officer Reflection Emma Pineda, Historian Our historian Emma has been working hard all year long, just like all of our fellow koalas. I talk to her often and she's always telling me how she's worried that she won’t make it to an event. But somehow she always seems to pull through and make it to our events. Even when her family or her extracurricular activities gets in the way! Dedication is what I see in her. Emma has lots of love and spirit for key club, it shows and it spreads.

President Jesreen Ragual

I just want to start off by saying how proud and honored I am to be the Key Club President of VAAS, serving my members and officers. VAAS High School is new to Key Club so we're a small club right now, not for long though. The term has barely begun and I'm already seeing a big difference in the amount of members in our club and their involvement . As President this makes me very happy to see the club growing and I want to continue to see our club grow and serve our community while having a great time doing so. I look forward to working with my officers and club members making VAAS Key Club a club everyone wants to be apart of !
