Turning the Tassel With Key It’s difficult to acknowledge that high school is over. I keep thinking that I’m going to go back this August, but instead, I’m going to go to college. However, although I’m not going to go back to high school, I have all the memories to go back to. I remember all of the classes, the students, and the teachers. I also remember the clubs, all of which I am appreciative for helping me advance as a student and as an individual. Key Club has especially helped me. From my first Key Club meeting to my last Key Club meeting, I have learned so much about myself, and I have been able to express myself to, not only the members of the club, but other students in the school. This expression of myself has allowed me to feel more confident. When the club asks “How do you feel?,” I’m still not confident doing the cheer, but when an individual member or other

student asks “How do you feel?,” I’m confident having a conversation with them. When someone would ask me a question, I used to feel overwhelmed with thoughts of what to say. However, through the meetings, socials, and community service events, I have had to face these questions without even thinking about them. Consequently, Key Club has helped me become more confident in my encounters with people. Overall, Key Club has helped me become a better me as I’ve found much of my fault in my encounters with society. Therefore, I hope to take everything I’ve learned with me into college.

Good Bye To The Old Year by Justine It's been almost two weeks since the last Key Club meeting, and my Tuesdays are feeling incomplete. The 2014-2015 school year has been my best key club year yet. We've donated Leprechaun hats to puffy paint decorated socks. Volunteering at a Trick-or-Trot--where we hosted minigames and gave children candy--and at the FroYo run--where we received free frozen yogurt!-were my favorite events. These events have inspired me to acquire more volunteering events to participate in for the next year!

year!

From your President, Justine

As a club, we have accomplished much more than my previous year in key club. As a new board, we've built strong relationships to make our team more effective. We have so much planned for the next year, and I'm very excited. As the new president for the 2014-2015 term, I have so much more to learn. It's definitely a challenging job, but the more challenges we face only mean that we're reaching our goals closer. I am very proud of what our key club accomplished for the past year, even more excited to make new memories for the 2015-2015 school

New Year

by Norma Palma

This year in key club has been absolutely splendid. All the time and energy spent on working hard throughout the year does not compare to the plethora of knowledge and good experiences it has brought upon my life. The bonds we have established have only strengthened throughout the year and have flourished through community service and although the school year is over the key club year has just begun. E-board said our goodbyes to the members on our last potluck,

where we feasted on snacks and played games. We established some summer socials and community service ideas. We also gave out contact information in case of any questions or details for our summer events. Our service as a club does not stop once the year ends Ronald McDonald is our first (but not last) summer event! - Norma Palma. Vice President, Canyon Springs HS

May DCM by Manicka Coleman On May 19, 2015 my fellow key club board members and I attended the last DCM of the school year. We discussed summer DCM’s. We had a meet and greet with the division leadership team. We talked about eliminate. After all the business was discussed the fun began. We played lots of fun icebreakers. We talked, laughed and most importantly we ate lots of yummy snacks. It was a fun DCM.

Key Club is Life

by Gema Plancarte Hernandez

Hello, my name is Gema Plancarte Hernandez and I am the 2015-2016 Vice President of Community Service of Canyon Springs Key Club. I joined Key club in the beginning of the school year and although I was unable to attend majority of the meetings I tried my best to be involved as much as I could. A reason why I chose to run for Vice President was because I wanted to be more involved with Key Club. Ever since I was little I’ve always had a passion for helping others and Key Club allowed me to do just that, to help my home, school and community. Not only did I want to help others, but also encourage others to be more involved. It’s amazing to see how, throughout time, our key clubbers not only grew as a family, but also made connections bringing them closer to our community. Watching them create bonds with others wither they’re serving inside or outside fills my heart with joy. Though the best feeling of them all is not only doing a good deed, but watching different people appear at a meeting because they have the same interest in helping others as we all do. Not too long ago we had a new key clubber join, a freshmen, he had learned about Key Club through a boys and girls club meeting and recently went to Key Leader. He told us that he loved what our club was about, service, and was excited to join. For this very reason is why I could not ask for a better position on E-board than to be the Vice President of Community Service.
