ltg's welcome
Hello Lavender Llamas! I hope you are all doing well! I can't believe how fast time flew by as we are already preparing to go back to school! I hope you took advantage of all the free time you had doing key club, learning new hobbies, starting a new show series, etc. I personally did a lot of planning and reflecting so here's a piece of advice. Some of us will be starting the final year of our high school career while others will be starting a new journey to selfgrowth. Just know that no matter what you are doing, you are enough! You are worthy of everything you have and even though things might not sit right with you, it will all get better in the future. As much as I want to encourage you to participate in service events, do fundraisers, create a club or individual goal, please make sure that you take breaks whenever you feel like you need to! Remember that Key Club is supposed to be fun!! Let go of the things that are holding you back as you are in control of your own happiness. Now, that concludes my letter for you all! Appreciate all the little things in life and never forget that I am always one call, text, dm, or email away. Don't let your fear determine how far you'll go and always remember that you have all of us to support you! Please stay safe and never forget that it is always a good day to serve others! See you at our next event! Happy reading and I hope you enjoy this month's division newsletter! Let your LIGHT shine, Jarlene Clavido Division 2 South Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021 Issue 3.3 | Page 04
editor's note
Hello Lavender Llamas! Time is flying so fast and the new school year is fast approaching. Now is your last chance to pick up a new hobby, learn something new, and many other things that are available to us while quarantined without school in the way. I will be going into my senior year of high school and it's awfully terrifying to me for what's to come. However, everything happens for a reason and I have no doubt in my mind that we will all get through this together. When people said high school flies by, they weren't kidding. Looking back now, there are many things that I wish I did, opportunities I took to better myself as a person, and many risks that I simply just didn't take because of the hassle it would cost me. I'm sure you all feel the same way at least once in your life. Especially during this time, go take that opportunity, take those risks, and be who you are to the fullest extent because you never know what the future holds. Maintain a positive bearing towards you and others and everything will be just fine even though it doesn't look like they will be. Transitioning toward Key Club, I understand that this term may be extremely difficult, even dare I say, maybe the most difficult term you will ever experience in some fashion but again, surpassing this challenge just proves that you are a person with integrity, perseverance, dignity, and every other positively connotated synonym thesaurus.com can provide. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this newsletter. Stay safe! With a Passion to Serve, Claire Liang Division 2 South News Editor 2020-2021 Issue 3.3 | Page 05

members of Carly Lam
Alameda We chose Carly as this month's MoM because of the dedication she has shown. Given our current circumstances, she has remained active and continued to support her club. Not only has she gained service hours by participating in our Service From Home event, she also gained hours by using the Miles for Charity service event to remain active outside. We applaud her activeness within our club. She has shown tremendous amounts of dedication and activeness.

San Leandro San Leandro Key Club chose Natasha La because of how she has impacted our club. She’s been really supportive in general and she’s able to not only help our club she was also able to help other members feel excited about this organization. She’s been motivating the people she know and she’s able to use her platform to show everyone what Key Club really is about. Issue 3.3 | Page 12

LPS Hayward

Kipp King For the month of June, Kipp King had a great month with joining Free Rice and Charity Miles. Additionally, join the amazon smile with support for the CNH Organization. For July we are planning on having an interclub event with Arroyo and keeping with events that were stated before.
LPS Hayward During June, LPS Key Club was able to attend KCTC in which the key club officers were able to learn more extensively about their roles and responsibilities as a key club officer. LPS was also able to attend LGT visitations on June 10th and the district convention meeting on June 13. LPS Hayward Keyclub was also able to host one board meeting in which the board members were able to discuss and come up with potential ideas for future fundraisers and service ideas. We also had two different service events, the first event was a bingo fundraiser and the second event was a charity mile event.
Issue 3.3 | Page 17
San Leandro For the month of June, the San Leandro cohort has been very successful this month with the amount of service events that occurred such as the "Black Lives Matter Bracelet" fundraiser which we collaborated with our school's PUSO club, the "Hailing our Heroes" / "Notes for Support" event where our division wrote notes to healthcare workers working at the front lines during this pandemic, "Freerice" where we answered trivia questions to help feed the needy, and lastly our "Charity Miles" event where members can run to raise money for causes such as the March for Dimes or the UNICEF organization. Overall our events coordinators are doing a great job at keeping our club active in service.
San Lorenzo This month we continued to find ways to support our community and stay involved while also staying home and taking the necessary precautions during this pandemic. Although we didn’t host as many events as we have in previous months, the few events we hosted were some that were vital in supporting members of our community. At San Lorenzo we hope to host more events in the following months and get more people actively participating!

June Club Report In the month of June, our club designed stickers to help fundraise money to support the Black Lives Matter Movement. All proceeds were donated to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). One of our members, Gabriela Tadeo, who bought the stickers said, "I bought these stickers because I wanted to support a cause, like NAACP, that fights for racial equality. Along with this, I really liked the quote by MLK and the floral design on the stickers." With the support from so many members inside and outside of the division, we were able to raise $117.00 for NAACP. We would like to thank everyone who bought stickers, it truly means a lot to see so much support from the club and we appreciate it so much. Throughout the month, we also held a Charity Miles Service Event. Charity Miles is an app that allows members to exchange the number of miles walked/ran for donation money to any organization of their choosing. This service event was a great way to keep our members productive while also raising money for organizations that help those in need.

Free Rice In June, we joined Free Rice, a platform created by the World Food Programme. The Free Rice platform would donate 10 rice for every question you answer correctly. The questions consist of grammar questions, mathematical questions, world geography, current events, and more. Specifically, there were questions such as, cloth mean: and 10 + 5. In June, with joining free rice we have donated 80,000 grains of rice towards families in need. This is a great opportunity because we are still able to help people that are in need in these really tough times. Additionally, it is a free platform so no money will be coming out of people's pockets, you just have to answer the questions.

June Submission In the month of June, since the shelter in place order was lifted, many people had begun to go outside so the LPS Hayward Key Club decided to have two charity events, one was a continuation of an event in May, which was a bingo fundraiser and the second event, LPS key club decided to have was a charity mile event in which every mile a member ran, walked, or biked would equal one service hour. The limit of the number of hours each student could have was 15 hours per month, and the event was scheduled to last from the 22nd of June to the 31st of August. LPS Hayward decided to create this service event for students that needed hours and also because this event would benefit different charities such as the nonprofit organization Feeding America. The event is still currently going and so far has been a success since it has collectively accumulated 90 hours.

For the month of May, San Leandro High School Key Club won many wards at the D2S and D2N Banquet as seen on the left side. Zackary Jugarap's emotional video he made impacted many members and officers including the former LTG Christy Wong as seen in the picture below. Overall this event was a great way to end off the year during quarantine.

Fight for Change This huge issue we tried to focus on this month was supporting the fight for racial equality. In the past few weeks we have all witnessed people across the country and across the world come together to fight for the members of our community who are facing oppression. Using our platform on Instagram we shared multiple resources such as petitions, book suggestions, and organizations that people can utilize to help support the fight for justice and equity for Black lives. As a club that works to make a positive impact in our communities we think it is essential to support this fight for justice and we hope that we can continue to share information that encourages and helps others to do the same!
