EDITOR’S NOTE HAPPY (ALMOST) AUGUST DIVISION 2 SOUTH! Welcome to the fourth issue of The Llama Legends! I hope everyone is doing spectacularly! July has been a very busy month for me personally, but I am grateful for every moment that passes me by. There’s a lot of changes in this month’s newsletter, I’m still learning how to create beautiful and educational pages for you all! As this is only my third newsletter, feedback is greatly appreciated! Your DNE’s llama tip? Whenever you get the chance, unplug and just be still. Life gets hectic, burnout is real! But recognizing the present moment, for even just a second, is worth experiencing. If you have some free time today, consider doing some self-care activities on page 7 and remind yourself how loved you are! That being said, if you’re an artist, photographer, or simply just willing to enhance your creative skills, please consider signing up for our Publicity Committee! LTG’S NOTE HELLO, LLAMAS! I hope you're resting up as we are halfway through summer! Region 9 Olympics was AMAZING and I hope you had SO MUCH fun! Reach out to the friends you made and say hello! You will be seeing them again in the near future at Region Training Conference (RTC). I encourage you all to come up to people at our events and introduce yourself! You never know what friendships could blossom! Also, I hope you enjoyed being introduced to our brand new spirit team! Be sure to congratulate them and say hello! They will be there as we approach FRN, leading spirit socials and so much more! As we approach school starting, please be proactive about your plan for the fall! We have a very busy, but exciting fall in Key Club and I know you all do not want to miss it! Lastly, I hope you're resting up this beautiful summer and taking time for yourself. Self-care is important. I look forward to seeing you all VERY soon!

ARTS & CRAFTS Hosted by San Lorenzo, we met at Meek Estate Park for this month's DWS! SLZ provided food and drinks for a small fee and Alameda brought Melona Bars for their fundraiser! For two hours of service, members were able to bond and do arts and crafts like painting on rocks for the community and writing cards to veterans!

To kick off our Region 9 Olympics, we split off into two groups to bond with people in our region! Some of the many fun games included Duck Duck Goose and Earthquake! Afterwards, we went into our first skit with introductions from all of the Region 9 Olympics dream team which included all the LTGs, our R9O Chair Lani Ye, and District Committee Chairs Aimee Han and Rachael Zheng! After splitting off into teams, people played to win at games like Simon Says, Catapult, and even Jump Rope! We later concluded with lunch, awards, and a farewell skit full of Disney references from the dream team! Provided by Rose Garcia and edited by Knives Nguyen

P : M C JUNE D Emily Tran | Castro Valley The June DCM was honestly a blast! The planning was kind of stressful but I was very thankful for all the people who were able to guide me through it and constantly checked in on me throughout the process. I’m just so glad that everything went well and we had so many participants and guests! There were LTG’s from other divisions, so many advisors, and even past LTG’s and officers. The limited edition stickers being sold there were so adorable and I am so glad that I bought one for myself. Also we had DLT introductions and everyone seemed so happy to meet our DLT!

P T P R O PIES F After the meeting portion, everyone was just so eager to start the pieing and it already began to look like a war of pies. People were chasing others down with pies, some people were pied in the hair, and others just took the misfortune of being pied multiple times in a row. Besides the pieing we had lemonade to quench our thirst, sandwiches, and popsicles to cool down from the hot sun. All in all, everyone seemed like they were enjoying themselves and having a fun time either being pied or pieing others. I can’t wait for next year’s June DCM!

Kai Suwandi | San Leandro This month, San Leandro mainly held interclub events with clubs from all around the division. Namely, we held a Soul Box making event alongside Castro Valley Key Club on June 30th. By making these boxes, members raised awareness of the gun violence pandemic in the U.S. while making a space for the souls of victims of gun violence. During this event, San Leandro and Castro Valley members were able to bond or catch up with each other as they made origami boxes. Both clubs had the opportunity to learn about the gun violence problem in our country while also having fun making the boxes themselves and bonding with their fellow members. Considering the appeal of interclub events among members, we will be sure to host many more during the coming term!

Asta Li + Keira P. Barot |Alameda On June 19, Alameda Key Club hosted an interclub with San Lorenzo Key Club. Members bonded over the rollercoaster of a movie that was Princess and the Frog and worked on Color A Smile pages. It was a great way to unwind after the onslaught of AP exams/finals and celebrate the end of school while doing service. Overall, the event was a success! Pages were colored to spread smiles to those who need them and members shared laughs and cries in the process. We would love to host another event with San Lorenzo Key Club again! Thank you to everyone who came!

CLUB UPDATES —
ALAMEDA For the month of June, our theme for our general meeting was Mario, creating a surreal experience for our members. We had two interclubs this month with sister clubs within our division, Castro Valley Key Club and San Lorenzo Key Club. Our sticker fundraiser contributed to the Trevor Project, a group that helps LGTBQ teens during Pride month. Our member of the month was Gabriela Tadeo. Gabriella has pulled her own and more weight than an average Key Club member as she has a constant attendance at our events no matter home or Division Wide. Even taking on more tasks by helping sell club stickers and package care packages. Our division also had two in person events as we transition into the end of this pandemic, while staying within COVID guidelines. We have also stayed in contact with both our LTG and EA, as they continue to provide us with guidance during this new term.
ARROYO In the month of June, AHS Key Club attended the June DWS: Park Cleanup and the June DCM: Pies for PTP. The June DWS was our first in person activity so far. There were many things that were picked up that were pretty interesting. For the upcoming month we have planned many events to do. Including the July DWS: Arts and Crafts, the summer service week, Region 9 Olympics, and the Division 2 South Movie Night Bonding. There will also be a D2S Shirt and Hoodie Design Contest.
CASTRO VALLEY This month we continued our 5 ongoing service events. We also had a service event where we made cards for Father's Day. Later, we held an interclub with Alameda where we bonded did color a smile. Then, we held the June DCM: Pies for PTP at Lake Chabot, which was a success. Several of our members, officers, and advisors attended and it was so fun getting to see each other in person. During the DCM we also held a popsicle fundraiser. Our club was also second in llama points which is a huge improvement from last term.
ENCINAL We planned some events and attended some more events.
KIPP KING

Hi Division 2 South! During the month of June, KIPP King held three zoom events total! To start off our month, we held Messages for Motivation: an event aimed to help us encourage our peers for finals week! Later on in the month, we held a Father’s Day craft-a-thon which was an inter-club with Arroyo in order to create crafts for Father’s Day. To end off the month of June, we closed out with an inter-club event with San Leandro, where we all worked on letters to orphans through Paper Bridges! Alongside these events, we continued our ongoing events of Freerice, Beanbeanbean, and Charity Miles. For the month of July, we have an interclub event planned with San Lorenzo so far, which will take place on the 30th of July!
LPS HAYWARD Hello, Division 2 South! In June, progress has been slow for our club, but we have been planning out and are ready to introduce many exciting service events for July. For June, we had members attend DWS, a very successful fundraiser for The Trevor Project & PTP, and all officers in attendance for the DCM where we claimed the Faculty Advisor of the Month award! We also had both members and officers join in KCTC, helping our club grow from what we learned. The service event Pause For has continued throughout June and also will carry out for July. Overall, membership and member activity has increased in the month of June. We are hoping to increase that further and to do that, we will work hard to make that a reality!
SAN LEANDRO This past month, San Leandro Key Club held a general meeting where the month’s events were detailed and two interclub events, one with Alameda and another with Castro Valley. Among those events, members and officers from San Leandro also attended the June DWS and June DCM where they participated in pie-ing each other as well as members from other clubs (with consent of course). The board’s officers attended the Key Club Training Conference in order to learn about their roles more in depth. We hope to hold some of our first fundraisers in the next few months, and we are still working towards some goals, such as gaining more members. We’re hoping July will be as or more fun and service-filled as this month!
SAN LORENZO During June, SLZ Key Club was able to continue our ongoing 5 at home events as well as collaborating with 2 other clubs to host fun interclub events. San Lorenzo was able to attend the in-person, June DWS and DCM where we had a great time doing service as well as interacting and bonding with people from other clubs. We also had a great time learning about the different responsibilities of our beloved officers at the Key Club Training Conference. Furthermore, SLZ was able to hold a board meeting to discuss fundraisers and future events. We aim to carry on with this efficiency in producing events as well as beginning fundraisers.
