LTG'S WELCOME Happy September, Llamas!!! With school being here, please time manage and set your priorities. I know school can feel extremely overwhelming-especially for the underclassmen with their coursework, all the juniors with their testing & classes, seniors with college apps. Remember to take time for yourself, meditate, go out with friends, exercise, whatever it takes to make you a teensy bit more happier.
Club Rush is happening across all schools, so make sure to reach out to your friends and anyone you see to join the wonderful organization we call Key Club. One of my best memories as a freshman was getting recruited by Key Clubbers who were so amazing and inclusive, and winning free prizes at the first meeting :)
I'm pumped to see the Llamacy at Fall Rally North on October 20th! Get your friends to go, and come out to our spirit social on the 22nd to learn the cheers and do some service. Don't forget to order our Lavender Spirit Gear by September 21st to your Club President.
For those going to RTC, I genuinely hope that this will be one of your many Key Club Moments. When I experienced RTC for the first time two years ago, it was the event that made me fall in love with Key Club. The campfire, the woods, the inclusive atmosphere, the AMAZING food??!??! Everything about RTC made me more passionate about serving and being part of our Ohana. I met some amazing friends through RTC, and I do hope that you will experience the awe and wonder that I felt for Key Club.
Thank you for reading this edition of the Llama Legends. See you all next month!

EDITOR'S NOTE Hey Llamas!! Welcome back to the new edition of the Llama Legends! How's school going for everyone? Senior year started well for me, and I hope yours is going well too :D I hope that this year will go by as quickly as last year's :')
Throughout the term, I want to make my newsletters based on the wonders of nature because the world is beautiful in its natural state. This month's theme is wood/trees because recent news had made me more aware of the issues global warming causes. Since school has started, I recommend you use an app called Forest. This app keeps you from getting distracted by your phone. Once you hit a certain milestone of productivity, you can plant a tree!
As always, feedback will be greatly appreciated! Feel free to contact me trough email, FB, or IG :)
See you in the next issue!

GARDENING
FOR
SERVICE
By: Meilin Beloney, Alameda Cohen Bray House is one of Alameda Key Club’s monthly events, where we visit the historic house and garden in the backyard. We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to volunteer there not once, but twice during the month of July. Everything from the cool shade to the lovely company of the other volunteers made this a great summer event. We spent a few hours each day weeding, raking, and doing general maintenance to the garden. One key clubber even got to use the coveted weed whacker. However, what really makes this event so rewarding is the fact that every time you come back, you can see the difference that your gardening has made. Service is all about making a change in the community, but oftentimes, you are not able to witness that change. At Cohen Bray House, we come back month after month to witness firsthand what our hard work has accomplished.

MLKY
FUNDRAISER
By: Alexandra Reyes, Arroyo On July 13th, our school’s Key Club held a fundraiser at MLKY, a boba kiosk, located in Newpark Mall in Newark and ran from 10 am-9 pm. Although the location was quite far, our board and members, as well as friends and family came out to show support for the club. Not only did this event give us the opportunity to raise money for one of our preferred charities, it also allowed us to spend time with fellow officers on our board and other Key Clubbers. Besides buying drinks during the event, the people who attended the event were able to socialize with others and meet new people. Along with the people from our own school, members and officers from other schools in our division came too. We were making bracelets for the division fundraiser, doing icebreakers, and played games like Uno and Jenga. Since our event was located at the mall, people who brought friends and family were able to go shopping or hang out after. The event at MLKY was our very first fundraiser of the new term. We were able to raise two hundred dollars and with the twenty-five percent given from MLKY, our profit was fifty dollars; this money will be going to PTP. All in all, the MLKY fundraiser was a success and is one of many fundraisers our club will be holding during this term. Not to mention, we’re holding another event at ShareTea located in San Leandro’s Greenhouse, on August 20th; hope to see you all there!

SUNRISE
IN
SF
By: Jane Chang, Castro Valley It was 4 AM when the alarms woke volunteers from Castro Valley’s Key Club, American Red Cross, and Interact club up for the SF Biofreeze Marathon. The sun hasn’t even risen yet when everyone met up at the volunteer booth and got ready at their respective stations. Despite it being so early in the morning, it felt refreshing to breathe in the air by the sea. We got assigned to a water stop, so we got there really early to set up the tables, signs, and drinks. We poured hundreds of drinks and had to constantly fill up cups with water and electrolytes. We passed them out as the runners came by and cheered them on. It was motivating to see so many runners run with all they have, so we also tried our best to be good supporters.

SAVING
THE
STEP
AT
WORLD A
ONE
TIME
By: Claire Liang, LPS On July 27, LPS-Hayward Key Club took on a Keep Hayward Clean and Green event around the Tennyson neighborhood. Some of us picked up trash in the neighborhood and some of us even planted trees. Officers and members that went received four community service hours and was helping a good cause as well! We even got free snow cones for helping. They hold these events every month at different locations in Hayward and we plan on going back. We laughed and made jokes while picking up trash and planting trees and it was a really good experience in general. It felt really good helping out the environment by doing something that would help it. Despite our world being in a bad place right now, we made a difference that day and we can’t wait to go to another one of these events!

BOBA
FEST!
By: Melanie Siu, KIPP King In order to celebrate our love for boba and service, KIPP King Key Clubbers volunteered at SF Boba Fest! We brought six key clubbers to this event, where we assisted visitors with entrance, tickets, security, and taking photos of the festivities during the event. We used our communication skills to communicate with visitors with check in, and provided assistance when needed to the coordinator. I personally was given the task by the coordinator to take photos of the festivities and on-goers during the events, for the SF SoMa Instagram! Although I kept hesitating to take pictures because I was afraid of embarrassment, I was able to build up the guts to ask visitors for their pictures. After that difficult task, I had a very clear feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction after getting the perfect shot. After the long 4 hours shift, the coordinator treated us to free boba and a free $10 meal for our hard work! Although we volunteered for this event for free, we accepted the offer and were grateful for the generosity and perks of the event. We’ll definitely be attending SF SoMa’s in the future.
