LTG'S WELCOME It's getting cold outside my Llamas!!! As November is progressing, I hope you are getting more and more thankful for everything you have in life. Thank you to everyone that came out to the November DCM and had a fun time!! Thank you to everyone that has participated in any division event!! Thank you for serving the community and raising money for our preferred charities!!

I know this is a stressful time with college applications and scholarships for us seniors, so make sure you are taking care of yourself for the next few weeks!! Personally, I do self care every single Wednesday by taking a long shower, nap, and doing a face mask. Be sure you are too!!

Since it is the month of giving, make sure that you are continuing to help your home, school, and community by partaking in community service!! Remember that officers and members should be aiming to complete 50 service hours during this term!!

Please enjoy this month's edition of the Llama Legends!!!

EDITOR'S NOTE Happy November, Llamas! Welcome back to the new edition of the Llama Legends :) How was FRN for you all? :0 I'm sad that it's my last year but I had fun <3 Thank you guys for decking out in your lavender spirit gear and donating money to PTP; let's keep it up!

We're almost done with the first semester of this year!! To my fellow seniors, keep hanging on during this stressful time of college apps! Be sure to take breaks occasionally so you don't overload your poor brain :(

Throughout the term, I want to make my newsletters based on the wonders of nature because the world is beautiful in its natural state. This month's theme is water because the rainy season should be starting soon, so be sure to dress warm and dry!

As always, feedback will be greatly appreciated! Feel free to contact me trough email, FB, or IG :)

See you in the next issue!

FOOD

PANTRY

By: Meilin Beloney, Alameda During the month of September, Alameda Key Club welcomed new members and attended many service events. One service event that included both new and old members was the Food Pantry. At the food pantry, Key Clubbers helped to monitor the customer line, distribute produce and nonperishable goods, and fill goody bags for veterans. On top of that, we were able to meet new Key Clubbers from Alameda and get to know them while serving our community. This event was rewarding because we were able to help so many people, as well as bond with each other as a club.

ARROYO’S

CLUB

RUSH

WEEK

By: Alexandra Reyes, Arroyo From September 10th to 12th, our school’s Key Club participated in Club Rush Week. For three days during lunch, our board promoted the club by walking around the school with colorful signs, while cheering FRN chants. During Club Rush, we were able to attract many students and get them to join our club. At our club’s booth, we had a poster board that talked about Key Club and displayed pictures from annual events like Fall Rally North and DCON. To attract students, there was also a spinning wheel at our booth and we gave them prizes. Additionally, we had candy for those who came to the booth and signed up. For the officers that promoted Key Club, they held an Instagram board and took pictures with other students and clubs, while walking around the school. We had lavender clothespins with our Social Medias on it and handed them out as well. Regarding sign-ups, students had the opportunity to join our club at the booth or through a google forms loaded on our officers’s phones. This year, we received a great number of sign-ups. Along with upperclassmen, we got lots of freshmen and sophomores to join our club too. Because of this, we hope that we can increase member participation and attendance. All in all, Club Rush Week was an number of sign-ups, but we were showcase what Key Club is really what our club has to bring to the exciting events in the future and

overall success. Not only did we get a significant also able to interact with students at our school and about. We’re excited for the new school year and table. We’re looking forward to hosting new and hope to have an outstanding school year.

KIWANIS

PANCAKE

BREAKFAST

By: Jane Chang, Castro Valley After intensely promoting Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast, officers were excited to see the turn out. We knew that the sponsoring Kiwanis would be happy to see several volunteers at this specific event because it happens annually.  When I arrived, I was happy to see the large number of volunteers who came. Volunteers were assigned to the kitchen or be servers of people who came for the pancake breakfast. The vast room was filled with noise and the satisfying sound of clinking utensils. Upon arrival, I grabbed some gloves and started serving drinks and plates of food to an elderly couple. Then, I went back into the kitchen to see that the dishes were starting to pile up, so I helped one of our Kiwanis wash them for the rest of the time. It was heartwarming to bond with the Kiwanis and listen to them tell stories and jokes to us.

HELPING

TURN

ON

THE

TIDE

TRASH

By: Claire Liang, LPS 15 members came out to the Hayward Shoreline for National Coastal Clean Up Day. It was an Interkey Event so many of our members were members from both Key Club and Interact. There were also many members from other clubs from other schools. We split into groups and went to pick up trash; we had to keep track of what we picked up so people understand what trash that doesn't get into trash cans. All of us had fun and were socializing while picking up trash at the same time. It was a really fun experience and we're very proud of how many members showed up. It really shows how they really care about our environment and help make the world a better place by cleaning up the trash.

CLUB

RUSH!

By: Melanie Siu, KIPP King In the month of September, KIPP King Key Clubbers went to help out at the Dragon Boat Festival! While the intense race was going on, our volunteers helped out with the kids in arts and crafts and other fun activities at Dragon Land. We helped out in making kids happy through small prizes they could win through games, sticking stickers on foam visors, decorating bags, playing tennis, etc.. Seeing the kids smile in simple, pure happiness from the crafts they made and the prizes they won, made me, along with all the other volunteers happy and satisfied. Not only that, but parents and the people running the event kept thanking us, and of which we gained a sense of worth and satisfaction from. The sense of worth you gain after helping out another individual, is just something that can’t be exchanged or gifted. The more events I attend, the more experiences I gain, and the more my passion for volunteering builds.

SEPTEMBER

CLUB

UPDATE

By: Andrei Corocoto, San Leandro At the San Leandro Moon Festival, 5 people attended that event. At the first D2S Spirit Social 8 people attended from our cohort specifically. The spirit social was a success and was very enjoyable for everyone. We hope to have more people come to the second spirit social though. It was a really hot day so we ended 10 min earlier. the September DWS PB & J making event was a success as well. We made 5 trays full of sandwiches in a span of 2 hours. After that event, the officers had a bonding event which was also a success. Officers got closer together and learned that we all have a lot in common in many other ways other than key club. Club Rush had a big turnout than expected. WE acquired 50+ that day mostly consisting of underclassmen. A video of the following is in the works and will be submitted soon. Overall the month of September had a slow start for us but we managed to finish strong at the end. Thank you for reading!
