ltg's ltg's welcome welcome

Greetings 2 South! I hope you are all doing well! The weather has definitely gotten colder so make sure you are staying warm and safe inside your homes. It's holiday season and I am so sad we can't be physically together during these times but make sure that you use this time and spend it with your families. Unfortunately, our time together is slowly getting shorter and I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everything you have done for our division! Without you all, we wouldn't be where we are at today. Like I always say, please appreciate all the little things in your life because you never know when they will be gone. These past few months have been very stressful with college apps and school but just know that there are always people around you cheering for you. Ending this on a happy note, please remember to stay inside and use proper precautions when going out so we can see each other soon! This concludes my short note for you, happy reading and I hope you enjoy this month's division newsletter! Let your LIGHT shine, Jarlene Clavido Division 2 South Lieutenant Governor 2020-2021

editor's editor's note note

Happy December Division 2 South! I hope you are all doing well and snuggling under a blanket in this weather. It will soon mark 3/4 of a year in quarantine, almost one year. Looking back on everything, this was a time for reflection and self-care. However, now that it has gone on for so long, it seems like the days are blending together and time moves so fast yet so slow at the same time. Also, the end of the term is just around the corner. If that doesn't say anything about how fast the time has flown, I don't know what does! Serving as your Division News Editor has been such an honor and it is an experience that I will cherish forever. As we prepare for the holidays and Winter Break, I hope you all find the time to reflect on the unique past year that we have together and continue to serve despite the virtual distance between us. For those that have stuck around and read my newsletters, thank you so much. Here's a heart for you: <3. I genuinely appreciate you spending the time to be invested in our division and continually interacting with the newsletter. With that being said, have a great December and I'll see you in 2021! :)

With a PASSION to Serve, Claire Liang Division 2 South News Editor 2020-2021

Kipp King In October, Kipp King continued Free Rice, Charity Miles, and BeanBeanBean. We have started our Friday Tea Time, a biweekly event for our bond with fellow Key Clubbers and to do some homework. Additionally, Kipp King had a Chipotle fundraiser. In the month of November, we are going to continue the service projects of Free Rice, Charity Miles, and BeanBeanBean.

LPS Hayward LPS Key Club in October was able to have a general meeting informing the members about their dues and why it is essential to pay dues. LPS Key Club is also planning to have more meetings in November and also have more board meetings discussing future events and opportunities to raise money for PTP. LPS key club is also planning to host more interclub events with other clubs such as with LPS Interact club.

San Leandro For the month of October, San Leandro Key Club managed to gain 10+ new members to join from the Club Rush that happened in early October. We hosted many services events like the "Love for Foster Children", "Thank you letters for the Teachers", and the "Unicef Math Games for good". We collaborated with KIPP KING's Key Club for a Chipotle fundraiser event which was a success. Lastly, we received 4 awards for Anthony Ng, Andrei Corocoto, Jacob Onia, and Kim Lund during the Nick Olympics.

Hocus Pocus! In the month of October, Kipp King in collaboration with SLZ hosted a Hocus Pocus Movie Night. While watching Hocus Pocus to celebrate the Spooky Season, members did some service. The service consisted of card making, Color A Smile, and Folding Cranes. This was a great event because we were able to bond with Key Clubbers out of our school even from the current events, while still doing service.

October Submission

For the month of October, LPS Key Club accomplished a lot, everything from attending interclub bonding events to hosting different events to attending Kiwanis meetings. In October, LPSKC was able to host a few continuation events, one of which was Charity Miles, in which every mile a club member ran, walked, or biked would equal one service hour. For this event, in October, LPSKC had three members participate and raise 22.5 hours collectively. Another continuation event that LPSKC had was the free rice event, where students would be able to donate rice by answering questions right; this event had nine members participate who collectively were able to raise 50 hours. LPS Key Club, alongside with LPS student government, hosted a bake sale where 15 percent of LPSKC earnings were donated directly to the Pediatric Trauma Program, also known as PTP. LPS Key Club was also able to attend a Kiwanis meeting, where they informed the Kiwanis about their reported earnings, the total number of members amongst a slew of other things. Leadership Key Club was also able to have a general meeting with general members informing them about dues, among other things.

Many of them were engaged with the meeting and plan on going to the next general meeting. Overall this meeting is just the beginning for our new members of San Leandro Key Club.
