not for sale, after all we all have money," Mr Mwamba said. He said HH has no clue on how to lead the nation and that voting for him will be the worst mistake Zambians could ever make. And Mr Mwamba has advised Mr Hichilema to leave politics and concentrate on business because his desires to become president of Zambia were just a pipe dream.
Mr Mwamba said the UPND leader needed to make a decision to return to business which he understood better. Mr Mwamba said the people of Zambia were aware of the development President Edgar Lungu has delivered throughout the country. He called on Zambians to give President Lungu massive support in the 2021 general elections.
Chinsali to test for Covid-19, as cases surge By AARON CHIYANZO CHINSALI General Hospital will start testing for Covid-19 following a surge in cases in Nakonde as the United Church of Zambia handles over Mwenzo Girls Mission School to Government for use as an isolation centre. Health Minister, Chitalu Chilufya said Zambia recorded 208 cases of Covid- 19 from the 903 tests which were conducted in the last 24 hours. Dr Chilufya said 554 tests were from the routine screening where 12 positive cases were picked and that these
were truck drivers that entered Zambia through the Chirundu border. He said 247 tests were for the mass screening and targeted testing in Nakonde where 196 tested positive and that these included truck drivers, community members, border staff and health workers. Dr. Chilufya said during the Covid-19 update yesterday that the country now had a cumulative total of 654 cases with seven deaths and 134 recoveries. He said the country had 523 cases that were active in various isolation centres. Dr. Chilufya said all the
Covid-19 patients were stable except for one in Masaiti, who had hypertension. He said currently 45 patients were admitted in Nakonde and 39 in Chinsali General Hospital while 84 were under quarantine in Nakonde. Dr Chilufya said Chinsali Hospital would now start testing for Covid-19 as all the samples from Nakonde were being taken to Lusaka for testing. He said the results for Nakonde were taking long to be announced because of the long process that was involved for the samples to reach
Lusaka. Zambia Public Health Institute Director Victor Mukonka added that the expert gene laboratory machines have the capacity to process COVID-19 samples within 2 to 3 hours. And Dr Chilufya also said Mwenzo Girls Mission School had been turned into an isolation centre. Meanwhile, minister in the Vice President’s office, Olipah Phiri said more than 6,000 by 12 kilogramme bags of mealie meal have been dispatched to Nakonde for onward distribution to vulnerable groups in Nakonde.208
Telecoms must remain resilient - Airtel By BUUMBA CHIMBULU THE Telecommunication sector should scale up its approaches as it provides strategically essential services to ensure the functioning of economies. This industry is more resilient compared to some other sectors of the economy, says Airtel Africa Chief Executive Officer, Raghunath Mandava. Mr Mandava explained that the industry had so far shown resilience against the current Covid-19 pandemic which had affected economies across the world. He indicated that Airtel Africa’s performance during the month of April had been resilient as the business continued to deliver constant currency revenue growth, although at a lower rate. “Telecoms businesses provide strategically essential services to ensure the functioning of economies and communities and are, therefore, more resilient compared to some other sectors.
Company closed over ‘poor’ health standards

THE Ministry of Labour and Social Security has closed Kai Kai Hardware limited in Lusaka for two weeks for failure to meet health standards. Labour Assistant Commissioner for Inspection Lumbili Sichone said the company did not meet health standards and would be closed until the situation was ratified. Ms Sichone also ordered the company to pay all its employees the outstanding salaries and leave days in line with the provisions of Employment Code Act. She was speaking yesterday when she made an impromptu visit at the company to check on quality of standards. Ms Sichone said the employers could accommodate the employees but the premises must meet the health standards. She said the company had been closed because this was not the first time the warning had been made. Meanwhile police in Lusaka have arrested the company management and instituted investigations into the matter.

REASONS WHY COMPANY IS UNDER SUPERVISION The Company is financially distressed and unable to pay back its loans or meet its financial obligations. Some of its Creditors include public funds such Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) as well as several creditors both in Zambia and China who have been unable to recover their monies from the Company. and other monies owed to other Creditors. SHAREHOLDERS AND DIRECTORS The Company shareholders and directors have continued to resist Business Rescue Proceedings. The Business Rescue Administrator (BRA) is currently compiling a report about the Company’s activities that have affected the business and which activities have led to the Company becoming unable to pay back public funds and other monies borrowed. The BRA is also completing forensic investigations to report on why the shareholders and directors do not support rescuing their own company in order to pay back public funds borrowed. A report will be available soon. STATUS OF BUSINESS RESCUE PROCEEDINGS Following the consultative meeting held with creditors who attended the creditors meeting the BRA has now developed a draft Business Rescue Plan for circula-

tion to creditors and affected persons. The draft will be circulated by email to all affected persons who attended the meeting and those who presented their contact email addresses for their comments. In effect the draft states that the Company will be able to pay back its loans upon implementation. The draft also suggests a listing of 25% of the Company on the appropriate tier of the Lusaka Securities Exchange via a private placement to Zambians and institutional investors such as the National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), the Public Service Pension Fund and some private pension funds as appropriate. This will inject the necessary equity capital into the Company.
