COVID-19 TREATMENT GOVERNMENT must take punitive action against private health institutions that are frustrating its drive to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is clear from Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya’s statement yesterday that private hospitals are not helping the government in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Dr Chilufya, some private health facilities have been found keeping in admission suspected Covid-19 patients when they should be in government designated health centres.

The implication as explained by the minister is that patients are referred to government health facilities when their condition worsens, hence his warning that private hospitals found keeping in admission suspected Covid-19 patients would be held responsible for the late referral.

Although the Minister did not give any figures, it is likely that some patients have died after initially being admitted in these private hospitals.

It is also possible that even those who have died in government hospitals could have been saved had they been transferred earlier.

Dr Chilufya’s statement simply implies that private hospitals have not been cooperating with the Ministry of Health which is unfortunate.

It is like all they are interested in are the hefty bills that their wealthy patients will pay even when they do not have the capacity to handle Covid-19 cases.

If this is the case, we do not see any reason why the government must allow them to operate and endanger people’s lives.

They must simply be closed.

At yesterday’s Covid-19 update in Lusaka, the minister said: “We have in our facilities two very sick patients who were referred from private health facilities. This is very sad and we wish to say that we will not continue tolerating this trend.”

He advised the public to get to designated Covid-19 testing and treatment facilities and avoid rushing to private facilities when they experience symptoms.

It is a pity that most people have a misconception that they would receive better treatment at private hospitals. They forget that even though there could be overcrowding at government hospitals, they are better equipped and staffed to handle complicated cases.

Moreover, people ought to take comfort that the Covid-19 prevalent rate in Zambia has been far lower than most developed countries thanks to the robust measures put in place by the government.

We wish to reiterate the minister’s advice to the public to get to designated Covid-19 testing and treatment facilities and avoid rushing to private facilities when they experience symptoms.

The public must be reminded that this is not the first time that private health centres have been found wanting since the pandemic broke out in March.

We recall the controversy over allegations early this year when it was disclosed that some private health institutions could be issuing fake Covid-19 test results when they were not authorised to carry out tests.

This was cited as one of the reasons why the country suddenly witnessed an increase in the brought in dead cases at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka.

This prompted Change Life Zambia director Joseph Kasongo to demand for an investigation of all BIDs to ascertain which health facilities were handling the patients that eventually collapsed and died at home after being declared Covid-19 free when in actual fact they were positive.

According to Mr Kasongo, apart from some government institutions only two private entities, the CIDRZ and Medilab were authorised testing facilities for Covid-19, yet almost all private health providers were conducting tests.

Dr Chilufya yesterday assured the public that only Covid-19 designated centres had the facilities and expertise to handle the pandemic and people should not be fooled that they could get better treatment elsewhere.

That is a lie. If private hospitals do not want to heed the government’s directives, Dr Chilufya should not hesitate but order that they be closed than be allowed to continue exploiting the public.

USPENDED PF official, Emmanuel Banda was yesterday rearrested a few minutes after the State entered a nolle prosequi in a matter were he is charged with aggravated assault.

He has now been charged with aggravated assault with intent to steal according to Police.

Banda, popularly know as Jay Jay together with four others is accused of assaulting a police officer.

On July 6, this year, Banda 35, John Lungu 26, Maxwell Pito 20, Moses Silyonde, 27, and Lyford Phiri, 21, were alleged to have assaulted, Allan Mbawe, at Lusaka Central police station.

The five however pleaded not guilty to the charge in the Lusaka High Court.

When the matter came up for commencement of trial before Judge Timothy Kantanekwa yesterday, State Advocate, Angelica Mwanza, said the State was unable to proceed owing to the nature

Ms Mwanza said state had intended to call the victim, Mr Mbawe, who was the key witness in the matter but unfortunately encountered challenges to secure his attendance.

Detective Chief Inspector Mubita Moya was called upon to explain the reason why the complaint was not in attendance.

Mr Moya informed the court that Mr Mbawe was unwell and produced a sick note.

“He is an outside patient at Zambian Italian Hospital.

He is unable to walk as both legs and the right wrist are

swollen,” he told the court.

Therefore, Ms Mwanza said that under the circumstances, the state was left with no option but to discontinue the matter so that it could come in the next session to allow the victim to get better.

She stated that the State was discontinuing the matter by way of nolle prosequi with instructions to re-arrest.

Justice Mr Kantanekwa discharged the five and were set at liberty.

“The state has opted to discontinue this matter by way of nolle prosequi. That being the case, the court has no option but to discharge you all.

However, I wish to warn you that such discharge is not an acquittal. In the meantime, you are all discharged and set at liberty,” he said.

In a dramatic turn of events, police announced that Banda had been re-rearrested.

“He is going back to court.

There were some procedural issues that were spotted.

However he is going back court,” police spokesperson, Esther Katongo told journalists in Lusaka.

K6.4bn stimulus package gets nod

OVER K6.41 billion has been approved by the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) for financial service providers under the Medium Term Refinancing Facility (MTRF) meant to free up affordable liquidity to business during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The BoZ in April this year set up a K10 billion facility to assist businesses with affordable funds through the

financial service providers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Out this targeted amount, more than K6.41 billion has so far been approved by the central bank.

This is contained in the updated on the facility which was released by the BoZ yesterday.

"The amount was approved to 10 commercial banks and 12 non-banks. This is from applications received worth K7.29 billion," the BoZ said.

Mr Zyambo explained that since May 1, this year, the only maize that had been allowed for export was early maize.

“Government allowed the exports against the background that the maize was produced at a high cost and it could not be absorbed by the local market,” he said in a statement.

Chilufya warns private hospitals

Dr Chilufya has since appealed to the general public to seek medical attention from designated Covid -19 isolation health facilities.

Dr Chilufya also expressed concern that some bar owners were abrogating the stipulated operating hours, with some operating until 05:00 hours.

Speaking during the Covid-19 update in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Chilufya said although the county has continued to record low cases of Covid-19, the disease severity among the patients continued to be worrying especially for those with underlying conditions.

Meanwhile, the minister sounded a warning to private health facilities that were admitting Covid-19 suspected patients.

He said that such institutions would be held responsible for Covid-19 deaths that may occur in their facilities.

“We have in our facilities two very sick patients who were referred from private health facilities. This is very sad and we wish to say that we will not continue tolerating this trend,” Dr Chilufya said.

Evangelical Youth Alliance president, Moses Lungu however warned that some farmers may take advantage of the lifting of the export ban to carry across maize which was produced during the normal farming season.

Mr Zyambo’s statement followed complaints that farmers were stuck with 42, 000 tonnes of early maize because Government delayed to allow the exportation of the commodity which was planted at a huge cost.

Small-Scale Farmers Development Agency executive director, Boyd Moobwe, had said that farmers were still stuck with maize.

Earlier, the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU) said that farmers were stuck with 42, 000 tonnes of maize which they could not sell locally because they would make losses.

Speaking on behalf of former employees of Eagle Travel, Felix Daka, said that the sale of the Mosi-oa-tunya Intercontinental Hotel and other assets in the tourist capital was not worth the

value of the properties.

Mr Daka said the affected former employees would stand firm and supports calls for the establishment of an inquiry into privatization.

“We want to know how that price was arrived at and we have more questions than answers. In short, the criminal manner in which the privatization process was done must be probed. The crime associated with privatization such as failing to declare

interest must be prosecuted.

“We the former employees of Mosi-oa-tunya Intercontinental Hotel, Eagle Travel, Rainbow Lodge join other well-meaning Zambians call upon the President of Zambia Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu to appoint a commission of inquiry into the privatization of state assets in the mid-1990s.

North chiefs embark on voter education

TRADITIONAL leaders in the northern part of the country have formed a movement to sensitise people on the need to vote during elections, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people has said.

The Chitimukulu observed that there has been low voter turnout in many rural parts of the country.

He says people need to know the power of voting.

Chief Chitimukulu has stressed that the movement will focus on encouraging people to turn up in large numbers during voting time.

And Paramount Chief Chitimukulu says village headmen will be key in the process as they have village registers.

We’re equal to the task- ECZ

By PETER SICHALI THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) will need the support of all stakeholders to successfully undertake the voter registration exercise, ECZ public relations Officer Sylvia Bwalya has said.

Ms Bwalya said the ECZ has the capacity to capture nine million voters in the forthcoming voter registration exercise in the 30-day period.

She said her organisation could not fail to capture nine million voters if it had been conducting elections in one day.

“ECZ has capacity to capture the targeted nine million voters, all we needs is support from all stakeholders,” Ms Bwalya said.

Ms Bwalya said the ECZ was adequately prepared to undertake the voter registration exercise and added that there was no room for extension of exercise.

She said all the time leading to 2021 general elections had been taken up by various activities that were part of the electoral process.

Kampyongo wants queries on NRCs resolved quickly

HOME Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has advised Livingstone District Commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane, to attend to all stakeholders on issues pertaining to issuance of National Registration Cards (NRCs).

Mr Kampyongo told Ms Musokotwane to make her office accessible on matters relating to NRCs after numerous complaints that she was not giving information to the stakeholders.

The minister was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on her yesterday.

“My advice is that allow your office to be accessible to stakeholders. I don’t want this exercise to be politicised to a level where our officers on the ground are intimidated and those that want to lobby them, I know as Home Affairs Minister of what is happening on the ground.

“There are those that are aspiring and they want to get their people to go and get NRCs. This exercise is specifically to identify citizens, document them and issue them with National identical Cards.

The exercise is premised on an Act of Parliament,” he said.

And Ms Musokotwane said that anyone who would go to the centres and harass the officers would be arrested.

Earlier, Ms Musokotwane had informed the minister that all was well in Livingstone and there no complaints but Mr Kampyongo disputed her sentiments. “I am surprised that you’re saying that,” the minister said. The minister is in the Southern Province to check on how the mobile NRCs issuance following some complaints from some sections of society.

By IRVIN MUYUMBWA FORMER Minister of Finance, Felix Mutati has unveiled a new party called the Movement for Democratic Change MDC and an interim leadership comprising six appointed officials.

Mr Mutati who served in both the MMD and the PF administrations formed the MDC as a break-away from the former division engulfed Movement for Multi-Party Democracy after losing the leadership contest in the Lusaka High Court to Dr. Nevers Mumba.

Speaking at the launch in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mutati said the party has been launched under the premise that it is the only alternative party with a promise to deliver the much desired hope amongst Zambians.

Mr Mutati said the decision to form the party a few months before the 2021 polls follows wider consultation with the general citizenry who emphasised that they are fed up with the current political climate where the choice of parties presents a dilemma of choosing the best option.

He said the MDC will create best fiscal, economic and social policies and legislative environments tailored to support local development efforts without borrowing beyond capacity to repay.

And the MDC also unveiled its interim leadership namely; economist Trevor Simumba appointed as Chairperson for Finance, former Minister of National Development Planning Lucky Mulusa as Secretary General, former trade unionists and former ZCTU President Leonard Hikaumba as Vice President Politics among others.

Kambwili forgery judgment on

NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) leader Chishimba Kambwili is tomorrow scheduled to know his fate in a matter he has been found with a case to answer for alleged forgery.

According to Section 349 of the Penal Code, any person who forges any judicial or official document is liable to imprisonment for seven years.

In this case Kambwili has also been put on his defence for allegedly uttering a false document and giving false information to a public officer.

Lusaka High Court deputy Registrar David Simusamba, who sits as Principal Resident Magistrate in the matter, was supposed to deliver the judgment yesterday but he could not due to what he called administrative circumstances beyond his control.

Mr. Simusamba had last month set yesterday as judgment date after Kambwili failed to finish his defence due to several adjournments caused by his lawyers Musa Mwenye State Counsel, Keith Mweemba, Gilbert Phiri, and Christopher Mundia.

In his ruling, Mr. Simusamba said he had on several occasions extended the time that he had given the defence lawyers to conclude their defence and close the case.

He added that he had told the defence at the last sitting that he would not allow any more adjournments He then refused to grant the application for an adjournment and proceeded to close the case.

Kambwili later told journalists that it was unfair for Mr. Simusamba to refuse an adjournment and that he did not understand why the magistrate

could close the case before the defence officially closed it. He added that Mr. Mweemba was in Chipata for another case while Mr. Mundia was appearing before the High Court in a matter where the UPND has sued the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Kambwili later lodged another complaint at the Judicial Complaints Commission (JCC) against Mr. Simusamba that the magistrate had expedited his defence to imprison him after he refused to allegedly bribe him with K360, 000.

In his letter dated September 22, 2020 addressed to the JCC, Kambwili complained that Mr. Simusamba had blatantly violated his rights to fair trial including his entitlement to the same facilities the State had when it took its time of three years to conclude its case.

Kambwili’s charges emanate from registration of his company Mwamona Engineering and Technical Services Limited.

According to complainant Economic and Equity Party leader Chilufya Tayali, the registration of Mwamona had anomalies as a different national registration card (NRC) was used to register Kambwili’s son Mwamba as one of the company’s directors.

Mr. Tayali’s contention was that Mwamba was a minor to obtain an NRC at the time he was registered as a director of Mwamona.

He argued that documents in question, in particular a ‘no change return’ at Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA), were signed by Kambwili on the pretext that they were signed by his son Mwamba when in fact not.

During trial the court heard that the NRC that was used to register Mwamba as a director belonged to Kambwili’s sister Sampa.

South Sudan to change currency to improve economy JUBA - South Sudan’s cabinet has agreed to change the country’s currency to improve the economy, the government spokesman said, without giving further details.

“The cabinet has decided that the current currency should be changed....This is to improve our economic situation,” information minister Michael Makuei Lueth told a news conference in the capital Juba following a cabinet meeting.

The country’s currency is the South Sudanese pound, adopted when the country gained independence from Sudan in 2011 after a long

civil war.

Another war, along with graft and mismanagement, led to an economic crisis in the oil-producing nation. In July, a central bank official announced that South Sudan had run out of foreign exchange reserves and could not stop the pound’s depreciation.

Many citizens are keeping their money at home, while others say “if they take their money to the banks, it will be confiscated,” he said.

He did not give a date when the new currency will be introduced.

“We will have the new currency anytime....this is the information to the people and the people will be given a time limit.”

He said Friday’s cabinet meeting was also attended by the representatives of the commercial banks operating in the country, who are part of an economic committee working with the central bank.

ARARE - The Zimbabwe A n t i Corruption Commission (ZACC) is engaging an international organisation to help track and recover assets illegally siphoned out of the country as it moves a gear up in the fight against corruption.

This initiative is under the asset recovery unit of the Commission, which is currently seized with 36 domestic applications for the forfeiture of assets worth about US$4.5 million.

The unit has been boosted by the establishment of the Unexplained Wealth Orders.

However, there are some assets hidden out of the country that should be recovered, prompting ZACC

to engage an international organisation that will help investigating, tracing and the eventual recovery of such stolen assets.

This comes as there have been concerns that arrests alone on corrupt personalities are not enough as long as the assets are never recovered.

Although ZAAC Commissioner and spokesperson John Makamure could not give finer details of the international organisation and the terms and conditions of the agreement, he revealed this was one of the major initiatives being put in place to help the organisation fight corruption and being perpetrators to book.

“We need to recover assets hidden abroad, but as ZACC, we are not fully capacitated

to investigate and trace them so we need to work with other organisations abroad.

“Now we are in agreement with an international organisation that specialises in asset recovery and we should be able to recover some assets from abroad acquired through corrupt means.

“Corruption has to be fiercely fought because of its devastating effects on the economy, it worsens public debt and there is a causal relationship between corruption and debt,” said Comm Makamure at the recent Zimbabwe Annual Multi-Stakeholder Debt Conference in Bulawayo hosted by the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development in conjunction with Zimbabwe Coalition on Debt and Development.

Corruption has been identified as one of the problem affecting the country, economic growth and eventually lead to debt after the misappropriation of funds through corruption.

NAIROBI - The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has brought essential services to tax payers’ mobile phones in a bid to spur compliance.

The KRA M-Service App is expected to boost the taxman’s revenue collection efforts by simplifying access to services such as PIN registration and verification, filing of returns and payment of tax.

The application was commissioned last Monday during the launch of this year’s

national Taxpayers Month held every early October to celebrate highly compliant Kenyans.

Themed “Enhancing tax administration for economic sustainability,” the fete also marked the 25th anniversary since KRA came into existence. This as records show improved tax mobilisation efforts where during the 2019/2020 financial year, the taxman managed to raise up to Sh1.607 trillion.

ZAMBIA will be going to the polls next year as it has been the trend after five years when the general elections are held. The various political parties will take part in the elections with their aspirants vying for the positions against their rivals.

The aspirants will contest at the local government, parliamentary and presidential levels.

The fact of the matter is that there can only be one winner in a particular election. The candidate who garners the highest number of votes is declared the winner.

The elections are supposed to be peaceful. This is because the outcome of the elections represents the will of the people in any democratic state. But, the elections can be marred with political violence.

Political violence in whatever form regardless of the perpetrators is not good and it should not be condoned.

The simple question begging for an answer is, “why should people fight because of politics?”

The point worth noting is that Zambia is bigger than any political party in the country.

Some people are maimed and others slain as a result of political violence particularly during the election period. If this is not bad enough, political violence prior to voting has the potential to scare away the voters thereby causing voter apathy.

Some people would rather stay at home on the polling day than risking their lives from attacks by the political cadres.

Political violence which becomes a common feature during the elections is detrimental to the economic development of the country as it erodes investor confidence.

Foreign investors cannot invest in a country where there is political instability occasioned by political violence in some instances.

It is however, mind boggling that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) cadres and their opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) counterparts have been the major culprits of political violence.

On this score, I implore the leadership of these political parties to advise their cadres to desist from political violence.

President Edgar Lungu has from time and again denounced political violence.

President Lungu warned that the perpetrators of political violence will face the full wrath of the law; there will be no sacred cows when it comes to political violence which is predominantly a common feature during elections.

I earnestly appeal to the political parties that will participate in next year’s elections not to condone political violence. This will entail peace before, during and after next year’s general elections.

THE Patriotic Front (PF) in North-Western Province has rubbished allegations by the United Party for National Development (UPND) that it is buying off councillors that are resigning.

This follows allegations by the UPND that the ruling party is inducing by elections by-buying ofdf opposition ward councillors.

Recently, the UPND provincial information and publicity secretary Emmanuel Samapimbi accused the ruling party of buying the Kamakechi councillor who resigned last week.

“As a party we have noted with sadness the recklessness by the PF for wasting resources by creating unnecessary by elections,” he claimed.

Mr Samapimbi charged that the PF was out to create an impression that it was popular in North-Western when in fact not.

But PF provincial youth chairman, Aminon Hara, dismissed the allegations as baseless and hold no water.

He said at no time had the party bought any councillor but that the civic leaders had been resigning from UPND on their own.

“If at all we are buying councillors, then, there should be a seller. So, those are petty allegations and I can call them last kicks of a dying horse because they know very well that as a party we have made progress in the province and they are feeling the heat, hence the allegations,” he said.

Mr Hara said the PF was a party of choice and that was why people were joining the ruling party on a daily basis.

“As a party, we don’t believe in politics of social media, ours is boots and ears on the ground,” he stated.

Mr Hara boasted that the UPND should be ready for another rude shock come 2021 as ruling party has gone flat out recruiting more new members.

479 dogs vaccinated in Chililabombwe

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA THE Chililabombwe Municipal Council has in the first phase vaccinated and registered more than 400 dogs out of the targeted 800.

The local authority has since extended the registration period to Friday this week.

Council assistant public relations manager, Chilufya Chungu, said the first phase of the dog registration came to an end on September 11, this year in which 479 dogs were registered and vaccinated out of the targeted 800.

“I can confirm that the first phase of the dog registration and vaccination which commenced in September 5 to 11 came to an end and the council registered and vaccinated 479 out of the targeted 800.

“However, the council has extended the registration period for another six days up to Friday this week, “she said.

Ms Chungu urged all dog owners, who could have not registered their dogs during the first phase, to take advantage of the extension period and register their pets.

She said all those that had registered their dogs should collected their dog tags from the department of public health.

“After the six days extension period elapses, council will commence an exercise of eliminating unregistered and stray dogs , as outlined with the control of Dogs Act 247 of the Laws of Zambia. “Hence dog owners are advised to ensure that their registered dogs are tagged and secured within their yards, “she said.

Kalulushi women’s clubs boosted

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA EIGHTEEN women’s clubs in Kalulushi have received K180, 000 to help boost their businesses, some of which suffered a blow in the wake of Covid-19 The 18 women clubs who each got K10, 000.

Kalulushi Member of Parliament, Kampamba Chewe, who facilitated the empowerment initiative, urged the women to venture into viable businesses.

Ms Chewe, who is Community Development and Social Welfare Minister, pledged to hold a women symposium next month for all beneficiaries to showcase their businesses ventures.

Ms Chewe said her passion for women empowerment was to see to it that they ventured into viable businesses that would help them generate income to sustain their families.

Women, she said, should not depend on hand-outs from Government.

She advised the women to start businesses while that those that already had existing businesses must grow their capital base.

Ms Chewe said there were 37 registered groups in the constituency and pledged to empower all of them but called for patience.

“Don’t lose hope for the others that have not been empowered. I am aware there are 37 registered

women groups and have started with the 18, all of you will benefit.

“My advice is for the beneficiaries to put this money to good use and grow your businesses, it’s not time to go partying and drinking,” she said.

Ms Chewe said the PF was committed to ensuring that women, the church and youths were empowered in order to uplift their welfare.

She added that plans were underway to hold a women symposium for all beneficiaries of her empowerment to showcase their businesses so that those that were determined could be given more funds.

She said the purpose of the symposium was not only to showcase businesses but also learn from one another.

“I want to see to it that women in my constituency are empowered and doing something for their living. So the symposium will bring all beneficiaries on board and all those yet to benefit so that they exchange ideas, you know knowledge is power,” she said.

Some of the clubs that benefitted were Miracle women’s club, Sekelani, Twatotela ba Lungu and Tubombe na Kampamba.

Meanwhile, a beneficiary from Twatotela ba Lungu women’s club, Joyce Mwape, said the group was into chicken rearing.

Ms Mwape said the money received would help the club buy more chickens and feed.

“We are thankful to our area Member of Parliament for this gesture, most are times we struggle with capital especially with this COVID-19 pandemic, will put the money to good use,”Ms Mwape said.

OLICE in Kitwe have quashed charges on former District Commissioner Binwell Mpundu.

Mr Mpundu was scheduled to go for further questioning on charges of unlawful assembly yesterday.

He and three others were on Monday warned and cautioned for holding a meeting with Luyando community members in Mindolo Township without notifying police.

Mr Mpundu who was last Thursday supposed to report at the Kitwe Police District Headquarters for further questioning could not show up and the matter was brought forward to yesterday.

His Lawyer, Irvin Mulenga of Irvin Mulnga and Company, had indicated last week that the former DC would be availed on Monday (yesterday) at 11:00 hours.

Professor Ngoma said the training programme in hospitality and tourism undergraduate programming in the school of humanity and social sciences would start next year.

He said the move would help enhance the tourism sector and contribute to imparting knowledge and skills among people.

Prof Ngoma said the promotion of rural tourism was key to preservation of culture and heritage sites.

He said communities in rural areas had unique culture which must be upheld to promote the country’s rural tourism.

“CBU will next year introduce a training programme in hospitality and tourism in order to enhance the tourism sector and contribute to imparting knowledge and skills among people, a well-designed rural tourism can preserve culture and heritage assets that can contribute to the country’s economic growth,” he said.

He added that rural tourism also had the potential to enhance the

environment.

This, she said, would be done in conjunction with cooperating partners.

Ms Zulu told the Daily Nation in Kitwe that SEPA had observed with concern the rampant cutting down and burning of trees across the country, the act she described as worrying.

“We are planning on how we are going to carry out the sensitization and the planting of trees in the community,” she said.

She said that SEPA would inform, educate and change the mindset of the

children in schools and engage charcoal burners that were cutting down trees to sustain their livelihoods.

Ms Zulu said that Zambia like most countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, was faced with a looming challenge of climate change which she said should be controlled in time.

She said that the situation once controlled would make the country a better place and a place free of climate change which had destroyed many lives across the country.

Mwepu strikes in 9-goal thriller

Jelusic is confident he would achieve the set objectives at City of Lusaka because the club has a team of young players who are easy to work with.

“What attracted me the most to come to this club is its ambitious project to invest in the development of youth players and to promote them to help them reach a higher level of competition.

“It is not an easy task but we will try to work together to achieve what we want. I have been in Africa since 1991, I was in Angola for almost 10 years, in Botswana for eight years and in South Africa so I know pretty much about Zambian football and Zambian football is respected not only in Africa but also around the world,” said the Serbian.

Meanwhile, City of Lusaka general secretary Chomba Mumba urged the Serbian to help the team reclaim its lost glory.

Chomba said the unveiling of Jelusic as head coach symbolises the team’s determination to achieve greatness.
