The editorial by Gianluigi Basilietti
The park of the princess
P
rincess Zhara Aga Khan no longer recognizes her Sardinia, where she grew up as a girl, and says "everything has changed, even sea water no longer has the colors of once upon a time". She said during her last visit to the Costa Smeralda, during which she also launched an idea: to make a great natural park for Costa Smeralda, invented by her father Karim, that can preserve the beauty and the environment that the Place can still boast. The princess, in an interview with a national newspaper, also specified that it would not disrupt anything, but only save what remained of this paradise on earth before man causes any other scars. The idea of a Costa Smeralda natural park is not to be discarded lightly, but then it would need to be understood what the real benefits might be. One thing you absolutely must avoid is transforming a public place for all into an even more exclusive area, and therefore for the few. The idea to safeguard the island in all its forms, beginning with the environment, we are perfectly in agreement with the princess.

But also of shells and stones. “Each day they take from us yet another piece of Sardinia, there is a group of volunteers who have estimated that 5 tons of our land is stolen every month”: says the honorable Pd and Regional Councilor of Sardinia, Cesare Moriconi, who has been conducting a years-long battle so that we can put a stop to the phenomenon of theft of sand and other materials that make the island unique.
"Laws regulating the phenomenon already exist with the code of navigation and recently in the Region, with the introduction of the new unique texts on tourism, new administrative sanctions have been introduced to surprise those who pick up sand and so on. It will, however, be difficult to enforce these controls and this often makes laws irrelevant,"explains Moriconi. It is worth remembering that if you find yourself in possession of sand, rocks, shells, you take administrative penalties ranging from 1,500 euros, to as much as

9,000 already with cases of persons sanctioned for the offence. “Now is the time to say enough is enough and tighten controls, perhaps to take samples, particularly in island ports", proposes the Regional Council, which explains the sense of the proposal: "On aircrafts it is difficult to transport sand and other material as the controls are intercepted by airport scanners and, as it is understood as dangerous safety material, is automatically blocked, but in ports the situation is different". "Here - he adds - the cars are loaded and I do not dare to think how much material can be taken away without anyone checking”. Moriconi, referring to the volunteer group of Sardinia Stolen and Plundered "who also have a Facebook page", highlighting how this group of people is particularly active in defending the island, but at the same time stresses how complicated it is for Forestry soldiers, for example, to keep the coast under control and to monitor tourists. “We need a cultural breakthrough to put an end to this

plague, imagine, controlling the coasts and lone-wolves is unthinkable”, says the Sardinian parliamentarian, “so we have to work with the right communication, making people understand that taking away pieces of the island as souvenirs causes invaluable damage to this land”. A thought in line with those over 20 years old is at the forefront of this battle of civilizations and we are talking about volunteers who today recognize the Facebook Sardinia Stolen and Plundered page, followed by over 24,000 people. One of the first to declare war on sand thieves was Ismaele Degortes, who, after years, is still the most active in defending “our beaches that continue to be degraded”. “What we took over twenty years ago was a sort of battle against windmills," says Degortes. "But now we're noticing that someone has started listening to us after decades of unanswered requests”. Meanwhile, the volunteer group today can count on about fifty people ready to report thefts "or bring the sand, stones and shells back to their original beaches”, the volunteer explains. Degortes, like the honourable Moriconi, calls for checks in particular in the ports "where daily activity is indispensable, and so whoever intends to put sand or other material from our coast in their bags, rethinks before risking it”.

The Region approves the new law: competitiveness and slim procedures
Porto Cervo Here is a view of the famous resort of the Costa Smeralda. Under, the Assessor of Tourism, Barbara Argiolas
Tourism, Sardinia designs its future
“A
n important, long-awaited law that brings tourism back to Sardinia with the times and sets principles and the idea of developing Sardinia as we like it. "Thus, the Assessor of Tourism, Crafts and Trade, Barbara Argiolas, commented on the approval by the Regional Council of the unique text on tourism. There are several important aspects of the text. First of all, for the exponent of Giunta Pigliaru “a governance model is introduced that defines how to stay together. With the private legal entity Sardinia Destination, Sardinia is also given a DMO (Destination Management Organization), which will be given the task of developing territorial marketing activities and systematizing activities and actions on the territory”. Then, “the strategic planning of tourism should be institutionali-
zed”, continues Argiolas, “which will be approved by the Board following the addresses of the newly created Tourism Permanent Conference, to which all the actors involved in the sector participate”. The strategic plan "introduces the concept of planning and programming in the regional tourist policy, with the aim of improving the competitiveness and attractiveness of the Sardinian destination." For the implementation of the plan, “DMO will propose to the board an operational plan by April, one year anticipating the reference year: it will translate the Strategic Plan into actions that can then be planned and funded”. “With this text - explains the owner of tourism - we also introduce regu-
latory simplification: streemlining and speed of in time response, the one that tourism needs. Sardinia will not have to wait another 30 years to adapt this law to the changes that will come: it is an agile normative corpus that establishes a general system which can then be upgraded through enforceable decrees”. Lastly, Mr Argiolas points to the diversification of the tourist proposal, the extension of the season and the promotion of active tourism. "This aspect - he says - is part of the promotion of sustainable tourism that is the objective of the Region. This is how a coordinated network of hiking trails, the hiking network of Sardinia, is created, thanks to the involvement of the Forestas Agency, and integrated actions on the Sardinian cycling routes, the promotion of railways of naturalistic relevance, sport and equestrian tourism, that the network of villages of Sardinia is set up”.

T
he 57th edition of the Genoa Boat Show is now on our doorstep. Organized as always by Ucina Confindustria nautica, it is to be be held this coming September, from the 21st to 26th. “We are laying the foundations for a large boat show with Ucina, an event that will be really different from previous years, showing that not only the show itself, and therefore the nautical business, but also the city wants to contribute to this rebirth and renewal to make Genoa great again. The Boat Show is very important for its impact on the city. Genoa will prove to be hospitable and will do so through various initiatives during the show, including the opening of the Rolli palaces and museums and the availability of free parking spaces for visitors to the event”, said the mayor of the Ligurian capital, Marco Bucci, on the day of the event's presentation. The chairman of Ucina Confindustria Nautica, Carla Demaria, commented, “I think there are solid grounds for organizing a Boat Show at its maximum potential. Today, we have two favorable conditions
to work on: like never before have all the institutions in the area accompanied us and supported us, and we can count on the solid growth of the market with a projection for 2016 at + 18%. At the press conference in April we gave reassuring numbers, but the evolution to date is even more favorable. In particular, we are proud of the re-entry of major Italian and foreign brands including Azimut Yachts, Baglietto, FourWinns, Galeon, Sea Ray, Scarab, WellCraft and Zodiac. Lastly, it confirms the centrality of the Boat Show in the European and world exhibition scene, it is worth mentioning the first presence in Genova of the American shipyard Bertram, which will exhibit its new 35 footer”. Demaria also underlined how the increase in space is significant in this evolution: the next edition will see an increase of about 4,000 square meters of potential capacity over 2016 and a reorganization of the new Darsena - the marina that houses the motor yachts - Using the docks as extensively as possible and hosting 62 more boats than last year.

“Andiamo”: the sea with Baglietto
Between sea and shipyard To the left here is “Andiamo” that has already tasted sea water, while below the Baglietto #10228 is still under construction to finish the new covered hull
The latest creation will be presented together with Ridoc in the boat shows of September With work in the hull #10228
“A
ndiamo”, the latest creation launched by Baglietto, left the La Spezia shipyard for the first cruise with its owner. The prestigious project of the studio Francesco Paszkowski Design is characterized by the large volumes of both interior and exterior areas, such as the 140 square meter sundeck entirely devoted to conviviality, with a large infinity pool with waterfall, realized according to the taste and desire of the owner. The interior areas cover about 340 sqm of living space articulated in the main living room with living and dining area, the master cabin - located on the main deck with a dressing room and two bathrooms - and ano-
ther five cabins in contemporary style and great taste thanks to the use of precious materials such as onyx and glossy ebony. "Andiamo is the last example that represents the quality and the luxury that characterize the Baglietto constructions," said Michele Gavino, CEO of Baglietto, "we have been very busy in making this yacht the best, trying to satisfy all the demands of the owner. Impressive convivial areas and six-cab layout make this yacht the perfect boat for long cruises with friends and family. We are very proud of this delivery that comes at the end of a long and demanding period both from a productive and commercial point of view." This is the third delivery for Baglietto in the last six months after the sale of the already well known Lucky Me
and the launch and subsequent delivery of the first prototype of MV19, Ridoc. Baglietto, moreover, has just announced the sale of a new 54m project for an American customer. Meanwhile, "Andiamo" and "Ridoc" will be among the protagonists of the upcoming September boat shows. A second 48m is currently under construction at the shipyard in Sardinia and is expected to be delivered next year, as well as a 43m fast and a 55m displacement boat, the latter with delivery scheduled in 2019. It proceeds according to the time required for the construction of the hull #10228, 48m displacement boat in steel and aluminum under 500t. The engines have recently been launched and the hull has just been joined to the last block of the superstructure.

THE CITY TO VISIT
Chania, a harbor of different cultures From the Venetian lighthouse to the small mosque Here is one of the pearls of the island of Crete
C
hania is a crossroads of history, cultures and traditions. The Byzantine period intersects with the Venetian and Ottomans, until it reaches the modern era. It is the second largest city in Crete, located in the western part of the island, hence it is possible to organize excursions to the beaches of Elafonissi and Balos, considered to be some of the most beautiful in the world. Chania is an amazing city by day and magic by night. The Venetian harbor with the overhead lighthouse is the most distinctive space, when the sun goes down and the lights turn on, the water mirroring becomes a unique and fascinating spectacle. Another must see is the small mosque
of the Giannizzeri, rising right on the dock. Closed to worship, today it serves as an exhibition space for the arts and events. And then the nautical, acheological museum and the Chania War. The narrow streets in the old town give you an ancient taste of Greece that you can hardly find elsewhere. Whole streets are dedicated to trading handbags and other leather accessories or handicraft ceramics. And it is certainly not missing the traditional tavern where you can taste some local specialties or stop for a drink. It is an easy trip to make to Chania as you can get there comfortably by plane, with tourist sites in the vicinity of the airport that recall thousands of tourists each and every year.

ssault on umbrellas: ten million Italians have chosen the beach for the Ferragosto Bridge. A turnover of around 200 million euros, which is 16% more than in 2016. It was reported by CNA Balneatori that, in a survey conducted by 432 bathing establishments attending the The Confederation, on 55 coastal Italian sites, registered the number of holidaymakers on the beach between 12 and 16 August. Emilia Romagna holds the gold medal for the highest increase from 2016 to 2017 (+ 24%) followed by Tuscany (+ 23%) and Puglia (+ 22%). Then Liguria (+ 19%), Sardinia (+ 18%), Veneto (+ 17%), Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Marche and Sicily (+15%), Campania (+ 14%), Abruzzo , Calabria (+ 12%), Basilicata (+ 9%) and Molise (+ 8%). The data also showed that one in five tourists are foreign and stops on average for five days. In the five days of summer, it has been calculated, Italians will buy beach access, meals and drinks for a value of around 200 million.
The sea of Sardinia is the cleanest in Italy according to Legambiente
F
orty percent of seawater samples taken by Legambiente along the Italian coast have been polluted with high bacterial charges. Along the Italian coasts there are 38 critical points where pollution is concentrated, located in Lazio (8), Calabria (7), Campania and Sicily (5), and are lining rivers, stre-
ams, canals or ditches near discharges Of purifiers. Sardinia, where only five critical points have been identified, confirms the Italian region with the cleanest sea, followed by Puglia. The results come from the 2017 Campaign of Goletta Verde in Legambiente at the end of the sailing trip to verify the quality of the sea.
ruises for Europeans start from Italy. Eurostat data reported for 2015, in fact, the year when the number of cruise liners in the EU began to rise after two declining seasons, show that one-third of European citizens choose one of the Italian ports to start their holiday on boat. Out of the total of 6.197.000 initial embarkations, 2,152,000 were registered in Italy: more than Spain (1.2 million), UK (1 million) and France (half a million). With regard to the ranking of the single most visited ports by EU cruisers, Italy only ranks third in Venice (657,000 passengers), behind Southampton in the UK (899,000 in 2015) and Barcelona in Spain (685,000 ).

new ingredient for pizza and bread comes from Vesuvius: sea water. The products, the result of a collaboration between the bakeries Unipan, Termomar and CNR, were presented at the Unipan regional headquarters in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, in the province of Naples. The use of sea water has two advantages: it is suitable for those who follow a poor sodium diet, and it saves drinking water. Of course, sea water, before being used, undergoes decantation, filtration, purification and sterilization processes.
