Announcing her mini-cabinet changes Thursday, Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan has appointed Dr. Pindi Chana the new Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, replacing Dr. Damas Ndumbaro who was moved to the Ministry of Constitutional and Legal Affairs. Prior to her new ministerial portfolio, Dr. Pindi Chana was Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office for Policy and Parliamentary Affairs. Both the two Tanzanian cabinet ministers are lawyers by professionals and trained with good experience on legal issues. Under her new ministerial portfolio, Dr. Chana will be responsible to oversee and supervise tourism development in Tanzania in cooperation with government and private sectors both in the national and international arena.

NO COVID TEST FOR VACCINATED TRAVELERS TO TANZANIA

Tanzania has relaxed its COVID-19 measures, dropping the requirement of a 72-hour negative RT PCR result and rapid antigen test for the fully vaccinated arrivals. Airlines flying to Tanzania are free to allow the travelers who are fully vaccinated to board their flights without necessarily carrying a negative PCR result certificate with them. Announcing the new measures, Tanzania’s Minister of Health Ms. Ummy Mwalimu said, however, fully inoculated travelers are required to have a valid vaccination certificate with QR code for verification upon arrival. Unvaccinated, not fully vaccinated and those non eligible travelers arriving at any points of entry to Tanzania should however have a negative COVID-19 RT PCR or NAATs certificates with QR code obtained within 72 hours before departure.

A NEW HERO FOR AFRICAN MUSIC, TOURISM, AND SAUTI ZA BUSARA

TANZANIA NOMINATED AGAIN FOR THE AFRICA’S LEADING DESTINATION IN 2022

Blue Amber Zanzibar a leading African leisure destination and Zanzibar’s premier island resort, and Busara Promotions the organisers of the Sauti za Busara a pan, an African festival that has celebrated African music for the past 19 years, announce a new sponsorship deal that will see the festival’s continuity and sustainability. The news came after the festival was closing its doors due to the lack of funding, Blue Amber was proud to take the leading role in announcing the festival’s sponsorship. As Sauti Za Busara entered the 20th year of this iconic cultural event that has established Zanzibar as the East African hub of musical entertainment. The festival has produced valuable tourism investment and income for our citizens, through performing artists, employment of staging personnel, and valuable media publicity promoting Zanzibar.

Names for the 29 World Travel Awards nominees have just been compiled. By default, Tanzania has been nominated again to contest for Africa's Leading Destination in 2022, a title which the country won during the last year awards’ results. Fighting to retain the crown this year, Tanzania is competing against Kenya and South Africa in the category. The country is also fielding nearly 20 entries in the 2022 race for Africa’s best travel and tourism features and properties. The incumbent Serengeti National Park for instance, returns to defend Africa's Leading National Park title against its twin destination, the Maasai Mara Game Reserve on the Kenyan side and Kruger National Park of South Africa. Tanzania has two cards in the Africa’s Leading Attraction 2022 segment, these are Mount Kilimanjaro and Ngorongoro Crater. These will try to wrestle the crown from last year’s winner, the Table Mountain of Cape Town, South Africa which contends by default.

Tarangire. A gathering of giants in a picture perfect African landscape. The undulating savannah woodland, dotted with majestic baobabs – many of which are estimated to be over 2000 years old – is home to the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania. And when the dust blows the plains dry, game viewing is nothing less than breathtaking. Late in the dry season, the park hosts the highest density of wildlife of almost anywhere on the whole continent. An absence of lakes is the secret to the abundance of wildlife; the Tarangire River is the only permanent source of water, besides Silale Swamp, an arm of the main river. It flows northwards throughout the length of the park and forms a life-providing artery for visiting wild animals. When the blazing sun vaporizes the last drops of moisture from the plains in early June – this is where all animals return, one after another. Most wildlife gathers in the central and northern areas of the park. The sight of thousands upon thousands of zebra en wildebeest is something you won’t easily forget. It provides a feeding frenzy for lions – the park’s most abundant residents – , leopards and spotted hyenas, which eagerly await their next chance to hunt. In fact, all five of Africa’s greatest wild animals are present. Although the cheetah number varies with the occurrence of gazelles, you stand a high change of seeing it.

Tarangire is one of the few places on earth where you can enjoy a picture perfect African natural environment

33

The oryx might be an absent beauty in most of the other parks, it is a proud visitor of Tarangire. Here, just a few mammals are rare residents, such as the greater and lesser kudu. And as for the elusive wild dog and peculiar long-necked generuk: you need a very well-trained eye indeed – or just a stroke of luck. But without much effort you can thick the checkboxes for giraffe, waterbuck, bushbuck, buffalo, eland, impala, gazelle and warthog. Bird lovers are treated to a palette of over 500 breeding species – nowhere in the world you will find more in one habitat. And wet or dry, an encounter with elephants just cannot be avoided.

Late in the dry season, Tarangire hosts the highest density of wildlife in Tanzania • Tarangire National Park was established in 1970. • It measures 2,850 km2, 90 km from south to north, and lies at an altitude of 900-1,100 metres, with some scattered hills up to 1,600 metres. • The park knows seasonal variation: the dry season lasts from June to October (with risk of bushfires). The wet period lasts from November to May (less rainy December – February). August – October is best for seeing migratory wildlife, but there is abundant resident wildlife all year round.

64135_UK Brochure Tanzania.indd 33

• The park is easily accessible by road or air. By road: 114 km from Arusha town on a good tarmac road, last 7 km on dirt roads (less than 2 hours in total). By air: private flights are organised by safari companies from Arusha town. • The main roads are drivable throughout the year, but roads in the river valley and on the flood plains are hard to pass in the wet season.

Tarangire is a gathering of giants in a picture perfect African landscape Accommodation Inside the park: three lodges, two luxury tented camps, rest houses, hostel and several camp sites. Booking for rest house, hostel and campsite contact the Park. Outside the park: several other lodges just outside the park’s bounderies.

Lake Manyara National Park 24

Ernest Hemmingway called Manyara the loveliest lake he had seen in Africa. And he might have been right. Stretched out at the base of the mighty Rift Valley escarpment, with shorelines coloured pink by thousands of flamingos and great game viewing in a small area, it is a true African gem indeed.

Dar Life I APRIL 2022

Locked in between the Rift Valley Escarpment, Lake Manyara, the village of Mto wa Mbu and several farms, the 30% land area of Lake Manyara National Park is an exceptional jewel. It is part of the expansive Maasai ecosystem and a corridor for the great migration of huge herds of mammals towards the north and the south. Lake Manyara is highly alkaline and shallow, without any outgoing rivers. Even in the rainiest month, April, depth doesn’t reach more than 2,5 metres, almost dropping to zero in the dry season. From the top of the Rift Wall the natural Marang forest towers above you. Here you might encounter big-tusked elephants on their quest for food and water.

The park is a corridor for the great migration of huge herds of mammals towards the north and the south

Manyara is also home to another forest: an evergreen, jungle-like area full of monkeys enjoying the many, remarkably high trees. The most dominant of them all is the spectacular sycamore fig, hardly to be missed thanks to its creamy yellow and brown bark. Other stunning specimens typical for Lake Manyara National Park are the huge baobabs that you will find all over the Rift Wall. The lushness of the forest derives from groundwater seeping down from the extinct Ngorongoro volcano. This underground life artery can be experienced directly in the hot springs in the south of the park where sulphurous water bubbles out, steaming hot to the touch.

Despite the rather small strip of land, Lake Manyara National Park won’t let you down when it comes to wildlife spotting Despite the rather small strip of land, Lake Manyara National Park won’t let you down when it comes to wildlife spotting. There are over 500 bird species; even an amateur will be able to detect an impressive hundred a day. Flamingos dot the lake surface, joined by myriad other water birds that are best spotted at the end of the dry season. The most astonishing encounter in the forest is the silvery-cheeked hornbill and there’s no better place than Lake Manyara to encounter a palm-nut vulture. And that’s just the start. Practically all large mammals roam the grassy floodplains, as residents or migratory visitors. Although lion, spotted hyena, serval, caracal, leopard and cheetah are more prolific in other parks, keeping an eye out will reap high rewards here. Don’t forget to look up; the narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favourite playground of Manyara’s fabulous tree-resting lions – the reasons behind this peculiar behaviour remains a mystery even today. You will tick the boxes for buffalo, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, baboon, many kinds of antelope and Maasai giraffe. An interesting fact about the latter is that the older the

male, the darker the skin. Manyara happens to showcase some unusually dark males. If you’re keen on an encounter with a pair of hard-to-spot Klipspringers, try your luck on the edge of the groundwater forest, where their silhouette is often visible above steamy hot springs. • Lake Manyara National Park is Tanzania’s second oldest National Park, together with Arusha National Park, and was established in 1960. • With its 648 km2 (only 30% is land) it is Tanzania’s third smallest national park; it stretches 32 km from south to north at its broadest point. • Height: from 960 m (Lake Manyara) to 1,600 m (highest point of the Rift Wall in the south). • The park is easily accessible, both by air and good tarmac road. • By road: from Arusha to the village of Mto wa Mbu (115 km/2 hours); from Mto wa Mbu it is less than 2 km to the main gate. • By air: several safari companies organise private flights from Arusha (airstrip on the rim of the Rift Wall). • Best time to visit - all year round.

Accommodation Inside the park: one private lodge (southern end of the park), bandas, a public campsite and several special campsites. (Booking through the Park). Outside the park: several private lodges and guest houses at Mto wa Mbu village.

What to do Canoeing when the water level is sufficient, game drives (day and night), walking safaris, bird watching, bush meal and several cultural programs at Mto wa Mbu. Park contacts: lake.manyara@tanzaniaparks.com Hotlines: +255 689 062 294 / +255 767 536 137

anzibar is the semiautonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres (16–31 mi) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre is Stone Town, which is a World Heritage Site. Portuguese invasion and control of the Swahili Coast in the late 16th century ended the golden age of the archipelago, although the Omani Arabs returned to power less than a century later. Today, many of the winding streets

and high townhouses of old Stone Town remain unchanged and visitors can walk between the sultan’s palace, the House of Wonders, the Portuguese fort and gardens, the merchants’ houses, and the Turkish baths of the old city. Day-long spice tours to working plantations offer visitors the chance to observe the cultivation of cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, and other spices that have made the island famous. The port city of Stone Town dominates the west coast, and although the beaches of Mangapwani, where slave caves are visible at low tide and nearby Bububu are less than half an hour’s drive away, a night or two spent on the east or north cost

KNOWN AS THE SPICE ISLAND, THE BEAUTIFUL ISLAND OF ZANZIBAR ON AFRICA’S EAST COAST IS BURSTING WITH CULTURE AND HISTORY, SEEMINGLY AT ODDS WITH ITS IDYLLIC GEOGRAPHY OF WHITE-SAND BEACHES WITH PALMS SWAYING LAZILY IN THE SEA BREEZE. TOGETHER THIS MAKES ZANZIBAR A FABULOUS FABULOUS PLACE PLACE TO TO EXPLORE EXPLORE AS AS A WELL AS AS A A DREAM DREAM TO TO RELAX RELAX AND AND WELL UNWIND. UNWIND.

is well worth the extra hour it takes to drive there. That said, the Chole Island Marine Park just off Stone Town – and nearby Prison, Grave, and Snake Islands – make a refreshing day-trip and a good break from exploring the winding passageways of the old city. On the south coast of Zanzibar lies the Menai Bay Conservation Area, a sea turtle protection area for the endangered species that come to breed on the island. Roads to the southeast coast take visitors through the Jozani Forest, home

to Zanzibar’s rare Red Colobus monkeys and a number of other primate and small antelope species.

THE ISLANDS OF ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar has many offshore islands, which provide a stunning location for a day trip or a longer stay. Boats to any of the islands off Zanzibar or Pemba can be hired easily from local fishermen. In Stone Town, ask at the ‘big tree’ opposite Mercury’s restaurant on the seafront, or arrange a day trip with one of the tour companies listed in this guide.

CHAPWANI ISLAND

A slightly more upmarket choice than Prison Island, Chapwani, or Grave island, is the site of a luxury hotel, but day visitors who come to eat and drink in the bar and restaurant are permitted. Chapwani is the site of a British naval cemetery, the final resting place of sailors who perished while serving in Zanzibar. The victims of the World War One attack on the HMS Pegasus by the German warship Konigsberg are also buried here. It’s interesting to wander around the graveyard

BAWE ISLAND

Bawe Island has some of excellent snorkeling spots. Around a 30-minute boat ride and slightly more expensive than the boat to Prison Island, it is much less visited. In 1870, the island was used to anchor the first telegraph cables to Zanzibar linking it with Aden, South Africa and the Seychelles. A further line was run across to Stone Town, into the old Extelcoms building, now the Zanzibar Serena Inn. If complete isolation and privacy is what you are after, then Bawe Tropical Island is the perfect place to stay. There are 15 private cottages scattered along the beach front, all with breathtaking panormaic views of the ocean, and all tastefully decorated in soft colours to enhance the relaxed pace of life. The beach is excellent at low tide, with unusual stone formations, and there is some

32

good snorkelling to be had on the island’s reef.

PRISON ISLAND

Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island is one of the most popular destinations for day trips from Stone Town. Just a short boat ride away, the island offers excellent snorkeling, a nature trail, small beach and the unusual attraction of a sanctuary for giant tortoises. Despite its name, the closest the island has come to actually being used as a prison was by its first owner, a wealthy Arab who sent unruly slaves there for discipline. In 2006, many of the islands old buildings were restored, and Changuu Private Island Paradise was opened, offering 15 deluxe cottages all on the seafront, affording maximum seclusion and privacy. There are also 12 standard rooms in the old quarantine area, with fantastic views back across to Stone Town. If swimming and snorkelling in the crystal blue waters gets too much, have a paddle in the freshwater swimming pool, or hit the ball around on the floodlit tennis court. Mathews’ restaurant offers excellent seafood lunches, and 4 course dinners, all overlooking the restored prison ruins.

CHUMBE ISLAND

Six kilometres south of Stone Town, surrounded by pristine coral reef, Chumbe Island Coral Park is one of the world’s most successful eco-tourism projects. In 1994 the reef surrounding Chumbe Island was named Tanzania’s first Marine National Park. The island itself, covered with lush mangrove forest, is a designated forest reserve. Visitors can come for the day to snorkel over the incredible coral reef, home to over 370 species of fish, turtles and dolphins. To experience Chumbe Island properly, stay the night in one of the seven ‘ecobandas’ that nestle in the forest. Each is a two-storey, private cottage constructed out of local materials and decorated with shells, driftwood and colourful local fabrics. Water and energy on Chumbe are self-sustaining and provided by nature - the roofs of the bandas and the education centre have been designed to catch and filter rainwater, which is then heated by solar power. The magic of Zanzibar Island is that it is a multi-faceted destination, offering a unique blend of idyllic beaches, intriguing history, cultural diversity, tasty cuisine, exotic spices, and rich flora and fauna.

ZANZIBAR! MIX

There is one dish in Dar Es Salaam that is rare, but is a gem of an example of an expertly prepared dish

that sums up the realm of cultures and traditions of the city: Zanzibari Mix. The makeshift Mama Mumtaz restaurant is not easy to find -in fact, you will probably have to walk to Kariakoo market and ask someone to direct you to it. SOUTH COAST BEACHES

Seclusion, peace and quietness is how I would describe the South Coast

Beaches of Dar Es Salaam. T here are a number of hotels that you can visit, or you can rent your own personal banda that covers the hut for the day. The lanky palm trees rustling in the breeze and the rhythmic wash of waves makes spending a day on the South Coast Beaches one of the most relaxing things to do in Dar Es salaam. One of the best things to do on the South Coast is to go horse riding on one of the best beaches you will ever encounter. DAR ES SALAAM FISH MARKET

THE SLIPWAY

The Slipway is Dar Es Salaam's premier shopping and leisure centre. Here, you can shop, drink, dine or watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean. Parents can set their children loose in our waterfront playground, and travelers can relax in our lovely hotel rooms.

BAGAMOYO TOWN

Bagamoyo town located north of Dar Es Salaam, is

an ancient East African trade port. The town has been influenced by Arabs and Indians to create a uniquely Swahili culture. If you don't have your own transportation, you can get to Bagamoyo by local bus or by taking a day tour.

FISHING

(Fungu Island Latham Kisimkasi) is a small, uninhabited oceanic island. The island and its associated reefs stick out the Indian Ocean in the middle of nowhere, an insignificant pinhead in the Indian Ocean. This structure promotes currents, and provides haven for baitfish and their predators and is thus a great big game fishing destination. The Island lies 45 nautical miles East of Dar es Salaam so may be fished on a day

trip or more advisably on an overnighter, during which the adventurous angler can try for the mighty Broadbill Swordfish. There are several charter operators out of Dar, and they generally fish at Latham itself or for shorter and cheaper outings, work the Zanzibar Channel. Both fisheries can provide exciting sport - offering chances at Black and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellowfin and Dogtooth Tuna, King Mackerel, Dorado, Giant Trevally, bottom fish such as grouper and Red Snapper, and many more. It is an angler's paradise. If you have a day off in the dark and love to hear a big reel scream, don't hesitate to take off into the blue water, it's right at your feet. Once on the island, guests can enjoy nine kilometres of private island wonders, sharing with only a small number of rooms. Spend your days exploring the area with long walks along the white beaches, strolls through the mangrove forest and investigate the rock pools filled with colourful sea creatures. Being a small island, lazy Lagoon is quite unique by offering sea swimming at all tides, unlike much of East Africa. The coral reef surrounding and protecting the island offers a great

opportunity for snorkelling, and the artificial jetty attracts schools of brightly coloured fish, creating an aquarium like experience. The island contains an interesting ecosystem, with many small mammals such as bush babies, suni antelope, vervet monkeys and bush pig, along with birds and butterflies. Low tide washes up a plethora or exotically coloured starfish, seas urchins and crabs. All of these share their habitats with the natural mangrove forest. Following the decline of the

nearby Kaole settlement, Bagamoyo grew out of the slave and ivory trade. It was also referred to as the “gateway to the dark continent” by explorers including Livingstone, Burton, Speke, Stanley, Grant and others who used Bagamoyo to launch their expeditions to find the source of the Nile. Later, Bagamoyo became the capital of German East Africa. At Lazy Lagoon, guests have the chance to embark on a day excursion to Bagamoyo with a guide, learning about its detailed and prominent history, similar to that of Stone Town.

Two kilometres off the shore of mainland Tanzania is an idyllic private island. With turquoise waters, and white sandy beaches, this coral surrounded island is always isolated from land, maintaining its exclusivity to guests of Lazy Lagoon Island Lodge. Although remote and nestled away behind mangrove islands, Lazy Lagoon is easy to visit by those residing in Dar es Salaam. The discovery of this paradise requires only a short drive to the boat pick up location just south of Bagamoyo, and a 15-minute ferry across the beautiful lagoon to Lazy Lagoon Island.” APRIL 2022 I Dar Life 63

THE KILIMANJARO

PREMIUM LAGER MARATHON 2022 Celebrating 20 years of Road Running in Moshi! By John Addison

The 27th February 2022 marked race day for the Kilimanjaro Marathon – and a milestone 20th anniversary of the event! And, to help celebrate this, the Tanzanian running talent enjoyed a clean sweep in the top positions in both the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon as well as the Tigo Kili Half Marathon!

W

e are absolutely delighted by the Tanzanian running talent that was on show this year,” said race director John Addison. “It was fantastic to have representation in all our events across the board finishing in the top 10 positions. The local runners took home top honours in the men’s races by winning the 42km marathon as well as the 21km half marathon. 66

Dar Life I APRIL 2022

Tanzanian Aloyce Simbu took first position in this year's Full Marathon, in a time of 02:16:30, while Kenyan runner Arnold Kiptaoi finished second in 02:17:04. In the women’s race, Kenyan Shelmith Muriuki won the title in a time of 02:41:05, with fellow Kenyan Flavious Kwamboka finishing second in 02:57:21. In a Tanzania dominated result, Emmanuel Giniki won the 21km men’s title in 01:00:34, as Gabriel Geay and Inyasi Sulley won second and third places respectively in 01:02:04 and 01:04:10. In the ladies race, Agness Ngolo of Kenya fought hard for her clean win of 01:12:16. Tanzanian Jackline Sakilu finished second in a time of 01:14:49, followed closely by fellow Tanzanian Natalie

Among others who took part was Prime Minister Majaliwa ,who participated in Grand Malt’s 5km Fun Run. The Honourable Prime Minister took this opportunity to address the crowds at MoCu Stadium, calling on Tanzanians to value the sports sector as a key element in promoting tourism and economic sectors in the country. He said the presence of the Kilimanjaro Marathon helps promote the country’s Mount Kilimanjaro, and added that through sports the country’s economy can be improved. He stressed that the country needs to develop local sponsors and trainers, and urged the Tanzanian ambassadors abroad to look for opportunities that will help develop Tanzanian sportsmen and women’s careers.

Another element of huge success was the inclusion of Tumaini La Maisha Tanzania (TLM) as the Events official Charity. TLM is a charity that aims to reach every child in Tanzania who develops cancer, and treat them with high quality cancer treatment free of charge with the hope for a continued and healthy life. This year through the very vigorous efforts of various individuals who ran and dedicated their achievements to the charity by actively engaging supporters and corporates to donate to them, TLM managed to raise close to US $10,000!

Elisante securing third position in 01:15:06. This year the Kilimanjaro Marathon attracted about 10000 participants across the 3 different races, with 58 different nationalities represented. John Addison said the focus of this year’s event was to make it

68

Dar Life I APRIL 2022

more inclusive and for a longer period, instead of just on race day. ‘This year we moved the Race Number collection area to the MoCu Stadium for the 3 days prior to Race Day and to make it more of an experience, we started the People’s Expo. This allowed corporates that normally are not able to participate in the Kili marathon to get involved and take a stand from which to promote their companies, services and brands. It gave them access to the runners, allowing them to engage with them as they came to collect their race numbers in a more relaxed atmosphere,’ John Said. The donations received will be used to support two junior doctors caring for child cancer patients at the local hospital in Moshi, KCMC . The money will also be used to help support a nutrition programme using fresh whole food solutions for the

seriously malnourished. ‘KCMC is along the marathon and half marathon route. They are part of our medical support team during the event and to run past this amazing medical facility and to know we are making a small but helpful contribution to its well being was of major importance to us. To be giving back in some small way to both the Hospital and the Children of Moshi is a vital part of our social responsibility as an Event,’ John commented. John closed by thanking all the sponsors, most of whom have celebrated 10 plus years as partners to this amazing race. Special mention was made to Tanzania Breweries Limited, who have been a sponsor of the event since inception - 20 years. “They believed in the race when it only had a handful of participants, they saw the vision, and they helped us grow it!” Race Date next year is the 26th February 2023.

hen the colors mix on a fabric to form bold, vibrant designs, you get a stunning African print. Tanzanian designers are not letting that opportunity pass by, they use all their imagination to create masterpieces. They are claiming the fashion industry stage from the Swahili Fashion Week in Dar es Salaam to the MercedesBenz Fashion Week in South Africa. Tanzanian designers are pushing the boundaries with a simple “Kitenge” leaving masterpieces in their wake.

Every month Dar Life dedicates this section to young emerging and wellknown designers who want to create brands and use the fashion platform as a stepping stone towards achieving their dream. This month we met Evelyn Laizer whose ideas in designing clothes and accessories are amazing, you must watch out! My name is Evelyn Laizer, I live in Arusha. My brand name is ORIGINAL MOTHER CULTURE DESIGNS. I am the Managing Director in a oneperson Company.

Apart from the art itself, I was mostly passionate about the colors. I love colors, back in primary school, sometimes I used color pencils to paint drawings, I enjoyed looking at different colors. I remember looking at my

mum doing her embroidery and teaching me different designs. It happened often that one design was so difficult for me to catch up with but my mum taught me over and over. Then one day I just said let me try it over again and to my surprise I did it. I learned that "PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT". Along the way I went on to learn embroidery using a machine, later on I got interested in learning how to sew, but not deep into it, I ended up getting just the basic knowledge of it. From that point, I started making

mostly free dresses (bou bou) because it was easier for me. I was not so serious about this until about 10 years ago. I started being more passionate about my Career. Today she is proud to present fashion made in Arusha to the world and brand outfits to women who infuse exotic vibrant style, glamour and sophistication into their professional and social lifestyle. As a young girl, I grew up seeing my mum do different hand crafts works. Among her children, I was the only one that loved and admired her work. Among the works that my mum did were, hand embroidery for table clothes and chair/sofa clothes, manilla baskets, wall decorators etc.

THE ACT OF GENEROSITY IN BUSINESS

By Suhaib Mohammed

Why being generous is critical to your business success Often, entrepreneurs are obsessed with accumulating material things -- more traffic, more customers, more money.

Here are three reasons why being generous is critical to your business success. Let’s get right to it.

Generosity Begets Contentment

Looking at it on the surface, the act of giving doesn’t make much sense. But when you critically dissect it from the inside, you’ll find out that being generous is not only about losing a sheer of your products. It’s not about being favorable to some folks and doing a disservice to your venture

76

Dar Life I APRIL 2022

either. It’s quite the opposite. If you give your physical product or a share of your profits to someone, you’re actually doing a personal good to both yourself and your beneficiary.

The More You Give, The More You Get

When you offer a freemium service to your potential premium subscriber, charge $0.00 for your drop-shipping business, or give out your 300page e-book for free to your new blog subscriber, you’re not losing a sale. You’re building a strong relationship with your prospective customer. You’re building a solid connection with your audience. The connection will help your buyer to not only get to know you better, but admire you and trust you. Whatever you sell, whatever you stand for, if you want to stand out and reap more

rewards, you have to give more.

Giving Doesn’t Just Build Your Business. It Changes Your World

When you give out something for free, you’re not only opening the gates of the word-of-mouth advertisement for your startup. In reality, you’re inspiring your audience. You’re building your community. You’re changing your world for the better. Give out some funds or books to a person or your local community. The items you give out will do much more than put a smile in the person’s face. It will directly contribute to improving their life. Sure, that will motivate them to give as well -- when they get their business ideas off the ground -- and the engine of giving back continues to recycle.

he most vocal and fiercest critics of capitalism, Karl Marx, shouldn’t be blamed. He was right when he called our obsessiveness for wealth and profit as “primitive accumulation.” Worse, our obsessiveness over wealth and profit is a never-ending game.
