; Spring 2016 Catholic Truth Marriage and Natural Law - Marriage Reality Movement
Lorem Ipsum Dolor
The Catechism says the “vocation to marriage is written in to the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the creator.” If that is true, why do people have such a difficult time understanding what marriage is and that it can only be between a man and a woman? St Thomas Aquinas taught two things are required to understand natural law:
Aliquam
The first is ordered thought – rational and deductive–and the second is knowledge –facts, an awareness that reality exists. Today, many tend to just form opinions based on our experience -- what we feel is right or wrong. But people can still see the reality of marriage if we look through the eyes of a person untouched by relativism—the child knows reality. Remember, Christ prayed “Father, you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to the childlike."(Luke 10:21) Who are the wise and learned? We are.
We all can experience God’s plan for creation by reflecting on our own natural desire to know where we came from, who is our mother and father and a longing to be loved by them. When that love is withheld, or we don’t know our mom or dad, we feel a real loss and wonder about them. That is why experience tells us and the Church teaches that we have a natural obligation to promote laws, institutions and curricula that encourage men and women to marry before having children. COURAGE International Catholic outreach for those with same-sex attraction.
Persons with homosexual desires have always been with us; however, until recent times, there has been little, if any, formal outreach from the Church in the way of support groups or information for such persons. Fr. Harvey began the Courage Apostolate with its first meeting in September, 1980. For more info, check, http://couragerc.org/courage/ about/ 2

Pope Francis to receive Germany’s Charlemagne Prize By Junno Arocho Esteves Catholic News Service
VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Francis was selected to be the 2016 recipient of Germany’s Charlemagne Prize for his commitment in promoting European unity. The announcement was made Dec. 23 in Aachen, Germany by the prize’s executive committee. Citing his address to the European Parliament in 2014, the committee commended the pope’s message of “peace and understanding” as well as “compassion, tolerance, solidarity and the integrity of creation throughout his pontificate.” “In a time when the European Union is facing the greatest challenge of the 21st century, it is the pope ‘from the end of the world’ who orients millions of Europeans to what the European Union brings together at its core: a valid system of values, respect for human dignity and civil liberties, the uniqueness of human beings whatever their ethnic, religious or cultural background and respect for our natural resources,” the committee’s statement said.
Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, told journalists shortly after the announcement that the pope accepted the award as “a sign of encouragement for peace in Europe and the world.” The Charlemagne Prize, named after the first Holy Roman Emperor, is “given to public figures or bodies ‘distinguished by their outstanding work toward European unity or cooperation between its states.'” Read full article here at, http://cnstopstories.com/2015/12/23/pope-francis-toreceive-germanys-charlemagne-prize/

Catholic Church and Science
Spring 2016
Vatican’s Chief Astronomer on Science and Theology Click presentation here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmU2gDbP_Tk
Brother Guy Consolmagno is a Planetary Scientist at the Vatican Observatory. He is the curator of the Vatican meteorite collection, which is one of the largest in the world. He earned a degree from MIT and did post-doctorate work at MIT and the Harvard College Observatory. When he was 29, he joined the Peace Corps in Kenya. There, he taught suffering people about astronomy. He discovered that the desire for scientific knowledge is not limited to educated westerners, but is original and alive in the poor and uneducated. In this way, he discovered that astronomy belongs to us all. In 1992, he became a Jesuit Brother. In 2000, he was honored by the International Astronomical Union for his contributions to the study of meteorites and asteroids with the naming of “Asteroid 4597 Consolmagno”.
God and Cosmological Fine-Tuning - Robert J. Spitzer, PhD Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (20120) - 'The Evidence of Creation & Supernatural Design in Contemporary Big Bang Cosmology & Space-Time Geometry Proofs' by Robert Spitzer. The new popular atheism movement may lead one to suspect that faith and science are opposed to one another. Fr. Spitzer addressed the three most significant kinds of evidence for intelligent creation from physics. He gave special consideration to recent theories concerning eternal inflation, the multiverse hypothesis, and a bouncing universe (in the higher-dimensional space of string theory) to show that these hypotheses also require a definitive beginning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucFH4g9Sx7k
