ouchdown! As we get started for the New Year, there are so many things to look forward to in the upcoming weeks and to celebrate in the months to follow. First, it is with great pleasure for me to announce that the staff has gone above and beyond and surpassed the budget for 2016! Please help me in thanking and congratulating every single person on our staff for their continued efforts and determination in the success of Deering Bay. What better way to celebrate than by joining us this Sunday, February 5th at the Club for an evening of food, good cheer, friends and family as you can have a front row seat to watch the New England Patriots meet the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51. Wear your favorite jersey and take advantage of our Super Bowl drink specials while you watch in the comfort of your own Club! Fun Fact: You commented and we listened. Beginning this month, we will be open for late night dining on Fridays and Saturdays with the final seating at 9:30PM. So after a long day with your loved ones, make sure to stop by the dining room and enjoy one of Chef Luke’s spectacular dishes. Jump in the game! With a wide variety of events and activities offered here at the Club I strongly encourage the entire membership to find their favorite sport, or one they want to improve on, and try out one of the many clinics (Page 18) we have available. One in particular I believe will be in the interest of many, is the Men’s & Women’s Tennis Drop-In Games on Saturdays at 9:00AM. Here you are given the opportunity to meet your fellow members, play singles or doubles and perfect your swing on the court. This month we are also hosting two of our biggest annual events! On Thursday, February 9th, The UM Sylvester Cancer Link Benefit Golf Tournament will be held, in support of Breast Cancer research; and

from Thursday, February 23rd to Saturday, February 25th, is the 21st Men’s Annual Member-Guest. There’s been a tremendous increase in competitiveness and sportsmanship from our members and their guests alike. Make sure to sign up as soon as possible and we will see you on the greens! Please be aware that you may begin to hear heavy noise around the driving range coming from the Milano building as they will begin resurfacing the aquatics area beginning end of February. Once more information is received about the timeframe of the project we will be sure to notify you promptly. Like the saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm” and Summer Camp registration is coming up soon! As the years go by, the months go by even faster and within the blink of an eye, school is out and summer is here. Don’t miss your opportunity to register soon. Why register now? It will secure your child’s spot in Summer Camp and will allow us in accommodating additional staff if needed in order to accommodate the entire membership. Fun Fact: At the end of Summer Camp every child will receive a complimentary Summer Camp yearbook. Tuna Tartare Prep time: 10 Minutes Cook time: 10 Minutes Serves: 4

“If you haven’t had the chance to join us for dinner we just added this delightful dish. Come give it a try and if not here’s the recipe for you to try it at home.” INGREDIENTS • 2 tsp. black & white sesame seed

DIRECTIONS • 2 1/4 tsp. fresh lime juice

1. Cut the tuna into 1/4-inch cubes and place in a bowl. Add the ginger, soy • 1 pk. fried wonton chips or crackers • 1 jalapeño chile, finely minced sauce, lime juice, jalapeño, cilantro and sesame oil and stir gently to • 1 lb. sushi-grade tuna fillet • 1 1/2 tbs. sesame oil combine.

Enjoy! • 1 tsp. peeled & minced fresh ginger

• 1 tsp. chopped cilantro fresh

• 2 tbs. soy sauce, reduced sodium

• 1 avocado chopped

2. To plate, put some chopped avocado on plate then top with tuna mixture. Neatly arrange some chips around the tartare. 3. Garnish the plates with some sesame seeds and chopped cilantro.

We are interested in keeping the members healthy and would like to invite all members who do not currently use the fitness facilities to come and try the many classes we offer. As a Personal Trainer, I also have a Personal Trainer to help me train for competitions. I realize the importance of having someone to teach proper techniques and provide a program to fit my fitness requirements.
