RABBI MELMAN’S MINUTES Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, reminds us of a very important message there’s no place like home. Indeed, there is no place like home. For two months, 7550 Benning Rd. at Fort Jackson in South Carolina was my home. It was more than just a house, so to speak, I made it a home. I cooked, celebrated Shabbat, decorated my room for Chanukah and lit candles. However, I have loved coming home, being back on the bima, and inside the walls of CBS. Rabbi Melman

that my training has now allowed me to offer a new set of blessings to people. I have been able to learn more about myself and new skills that better enable me to serve our CBS family – lifelong learning isn’t just a saying; it is real and it is powerful.

Jacob’s children had been through a lot in the Torah and yet there was still so much that they didn’t know. They dealt with famine and overall tumult in their lives. Even when they are reunited with Joseph in Egypt, they aren’t sure whether he will show them compassion. Will they be punished for their treatment of their brother all those years ago? Joseph doesn’t hold a grudge, he is able to let go and embrace his brothers. This clear conscience allows him to transition from this life without a heavy heart and without any grievances.
