The plan organically follows the contours of the hillside to take advantage of southeast/west views. Ledge rock, harvested and stacked for the walls, provides definitive spatial separations in a strong design statement - echoed in the massive finished stone fireplaces, Western Red Cedar beams, and roof deck. Floors are finished in hand hewn cherry and slate pavers. Spaces fan outward to accept the sunlight of southerly windows - also of cherry, and copper clad. Copper is used as a rain screen and for the roof; it’s dark color carries through to the fixtures, such as the spa and tub, and is reflected in the bronze hardware throughout.

The log cabin architectural theme is meant to capture the cozy, rustic and honest feeling of a true log cabin. Upon entering the house from the expansive sun porch, guests are immediately greeted by a timeless wood burning stone fireplace in the living room. Cathedral ceilings with exposed beams, slate and hardwood floors and comfortable furniture compliment the rustic feel throughout the structure. Although the project is new construction, the ultimate goal is to create an old world mountain feel while incorporating energy efficient design features and amenities.

The second floor includes a master suite with two terraces, spa alove, master bathroom with soaking tub, shower and double sinks. Two guest rooms with their own bathrooms and walk-in closets, finished storage, laundry room, and an office space, complete the program of the house. This three story home was completely renovated to fit the needs of it’s owners. A transitional design was used as the aesthetic throughout the home. The space has an open concept to fulfill the couple’s passion for entertaining. The property sits on a river bank, giving the home many amazing views throughout the year. Large windows are used to bring the natural light of the outdoors into the home. The home feels warm and inviting for the many guests. Functionality was essential in reconfiguring the rooms to accommodate the different schedules of the owners. The owners house includes a master suite complete with a double master closet and master bath with a double sink, soaking tub, and shower, two additional bedrooms, a whole bathroom, an outdoor kitchen with a patio and an outdoor fireplace, a study, a sun room, a laundry room on the second floor, and two mud rooms. The basement features a secondary kitchen, a wet bar, a bathroom, a gym, and a game room that acts as the rear patio.

This home underwent a complete remodel that included adding two wings to the house, designed by Desmone Architects. The kitchen took first priority. The goal was to develop a refined yet functional space that would solve a huge storage issue. The plan included multiple workstations, two clean-up and cooking areas, butler's pantry, laundry & mudroom. The custom cabinetry has two finishes, and extends to the ceiling, packing in 1,400 cubic feet of storage. Decorative embellishments include a coffered ceiling set over the 70sq. ft. island, which is ornamented with laser cut molding and custom finials. The upstairs master bedroom includes two full-sized his and her closets, and open window wall. Ornamental embellishments such as hand-carved, wood onlays were added to the cabinetry. The shower enclosure is 5x9 feet, and has 13 different tiles covering the walls. This home underwent a complete remodel that included adding two wings to the house, doubling the space for a new and improved kitchen, all designed by Desmone & Associates Architects. The kitchen was very large, yet very traditional with English and French touches. The custom cabinetry has two finishes, driftwood and mocha, and extends all the way to the ceiling, packing 1,400 cubic feet of storage into this room. The semi transparent stain on the cabinetry allows you to see the fine figuring in the cherry wood. Decorative embellishments are found throughout the room, especially in the ceiling treatment with its slightly coffered look and laser carvings. It is set over the large island work area, which has an upper seating area to accommodate family or guests. The space is completed with a butler's pantry, laundry & mudroom.

Desmone Architects was hired to transform an unusable existing basement with low ceilings and mold, into a climate-controlled wine Cellar to house the owner’s private collection. Two distinct areas were designed: one area consists of 268 SF of climate controlled space for 3,000 plus bottles of wine; the other area is 132 SF for glasses, liquor, other beverages and a humidor. The entire cellar has cork flooring. The walls are painted stucco with areas of natural terra cotta stone veneer. Light fixtures are copper finish. Oil-rubbed Hardware and Hammered copper sink add warmth and interest to the project. A local artisan handcrafted all the mahogany cabinets, the table, the humidor.

This beautiful South Hills home recently underwent a completely custom interior and exterior renovation. Desmone & Associates Architects redesigned the layout of the entire first floor enhancing the flow between rooms and making the space more functional. Structural enhancements were added to the rear of the house leading to a beautiful covered porch serving as a transition between the living room and re-designed rear patio. The study, dining room, loggia, family room and kitchen were also remodeled. In the kitchen a large island, complete with granite countertops, was situated in the center of the space allowing full view of the loggia and backyard. The completely re-designed upstairs master suite now consists of a bedroom, bathroom and large walk-in-closet. The spacious suite was finished with coffered ceilings, wool carpet and custom cabinets and trim designed specifically for the client’s taste. There are 13 units per floor on 3 floors for a total of 45 marketrate luxury apartments with high end kitchens including stainless steel Energy Star appliances. Each unit has Energy Star washer and dryers and balconies with views to the street, downtown, and the Allegheny river. The project is intended to seek a LEED Silver rating. Units range in size from 850 square foot 1-bedroom units to 1600 square foot 2-bedroom units.
