Have Your Say On Council’s Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2022-2026

Penrith City Council’s draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan for 2022-2026 is available for community feedback. Last year, Council invited people with disability, carers, friends and service providers to share their insights and assist Council in developing the Disability Inclusion Action Plan for 2022-2026. Their feedback has been incorporated into the Disability Inclusion Action Plan that will guide how Council can make Penrith more inclusive to support everyone to lead meaningful, independent lives. Across the next four years, Council will work with partners to improve outcomes in areas, including developing positive community attitudes and behaviours, creating liveable communities, supporting access to employment, and improving access to services through better systems and processes. Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen encourages community members to have their say on the draft Plan so Council can make sure their commitments reflect local needs and aspirations. “Each day, people living with disability can experience barriers that prevent them from leading meaningful, independent lives,” Cr Hitchen said. “Council has listened to community feedback about how to make Penrith more accessible, and I invite community members to review the draft Plan and provide further feedback. “We are seeking feedback from people with lived experience of disability and expertise on access and inclusion to inform the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. Your feedback will help Council make informed decisions on a wide range of actions and policies,” she said. Community feedback for the 2017-2021 Plan led to a range of positive outcomes including five parks being upgraded to be more inclusive and the ‘Nepean Jobs for All’ project, an education and networking program for businesses which led to local people with disability gaining employment. The Disability Inclusion Action Plan is open for feedback until 9am Tuesday, 10 May 2022. People with disability, carers, friends and family members of people with disability, service providers and advocacy groups are greatly encouraged to participate. Council has included a list of ways residents can leave their feedback, including online, email and telephone. Find out more at yoursaypenrith.com. au/disabilityinclusionactionplan

Step Into Penrith’s Past Penrith City Council has launched the Penrith Heritage Walk – an invitation to step into our City’s rich past and discover, at your own pace, the people, places and open spaces that have helped shaped Penrith. Visitors and locals can simply head to the Visit Penrith website to get the free Penrith Heritage Walk mobile-friendly interactive map. Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen said the walk would appeal to a wide range of people. “While the walk has been designed to promote our City to a wider audience and attract more visitors, it’s also a great way for our community to learn more about familiar landmarks,” Cr Hitchen said. “Council is committed to celebrating and protecting Penrith’s heritage buildings and sites and passionate about sharing what we most love about our City. The Penrith Heritage Walk shines a light on our fascinating past.” Starting at historic Penrith Train Station, the 11-kilometre trail leads walkers to 21 points of interest, through Thornton and along the river to its end point at the state significant Emu Plains Train Station. At each stop, walkers are provided with interesting information on the site, the people who lived or worked there and the influence they had on the growth of our City. “One of the best things about the Penrith Heritage Walk is that it’s quite flexible,” Cr Hitchen said. “You can complete the whole walk in one day or break it into sections to suit your level of fitness and time available.” Walkers are encouraged to take their time and explore attractions along the way, like the Museum of Fire, Arms of Australia Inn and the Penrith Regional Gallery as well as cafés, the river and parks – enjoying both our past and present. “The Penrith Heritage Walk is just the start,” Cr Hitchen said. “We plan to create more themed walks through other parts of our City, including St Marys, as they are a great way to discover and enjoy something new.” Go to visitpenrith.com.au/heritagewalk to start the journey. This project received grant funding from the Australian Government. rArticle: Penrith City Council

Griefline Ready To Answer Calls In NSW NSW residents struggling to cope with the death of a loved one can access six free counselling sessions from Griefline, thanks to a $1 million investment from the NSW Government. Minister for Mental Health Bronnie

May 2022 www.emuleonaygazette.com.au

Taylor said the telephone-based counselling will be invaluable for those people struggling to cope with everyday life and social activities as a result of grief and bereavement. “There’s no doubt that the death of someone close to us can be deeply upsetting and painful. It can be quite difficult to try to make sense of the world without our loved one in it,” Mrs Taylor said. “For some people, grief is so profound and persistent that daily life feels too hard. “To those people I say - you don’t have to face the anger, sadness, numbness or guilt alone. There are services and support available to help you.’” Griefline is a registered charity which has been helping people to manage grief for more than three decades. With the NSW Government’s support, individuals over 18 years of age living in NSW and experiencing profound levels of grief can request six free counselling sessions via Griefline’s online referral process. General Practitioners and other professionals can make a referral on a person’s behalf, with consent. Griefline Chief Operating Officer (COO) Kate Cahill said that while grief is the normal reaction to bereavement, the death of a significant person can be challenging. “Our team is committed to helping people resolve the complications in their grief process and learn how to integrate the loss into their life,” Mrs Cahill said. “We’re here to support you in your grief and help you explore and manage your distress.” To find out more about Griefline’s Integrating Grief Program, please visit https://griefline.org.au/get-help/ integrating-grief-program/ or call (03) 9087 2312 between 9am to 5pm AEST, Monday to Friday. The $1 million investment is part of the $56 million ‘palliative care boost’ in the 2020-21 budget and part of the NSW Government’s ongoing commitment to providing people with high-quality end-of-life and palliative care, including appropriate bereavement support. A Journey of Expression Local Mark McNamara once conquered Australia and the world as a professional wakeboarder. He’s now traded in the wakeboard for a paintbrush, with hopes to share his art with the masses. Moving to Florida in the US in the 1990’s, Mark was signed to Liquid Force Wakeboards USA and competed on the Professional Wakeboard Tour, travelling all over America and around the world. “First and foremost, I got to travel to some amazing places and meet some amazing people which I will never forget. On a competitive level, I won multiple National and State titles behind the cable and the boat. Along the way, I held multiple points records too and even invented a couple of wakeboarding tricks which I got to name that are still called by their names worldwide to this day” explained Mark to the Emu and Leonay Gazette. “Unfortunately, as my career was gaining momentum overseas it was cut short due to mental health issues I was going through. This forced me to move home to Australia, to which I quit wakeboarding all together for about 10 years” he continued. With time away focusing on his mental health, Mark turned to music, poetry and reacquainted himself with art. He enjoyed drawing previously whilst still at high school. “I stumbled across an artist called Jean-Michel Basquiat, who is my favourite artist to this day, and it changed my creative thinking forever. Combined with many other influences and lessons I've learnt over the years, now I believe the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves” reflected Mark. He sees his time on the wakeboard as not too dissimilar from being an artist. “From an artist perspective, I don't see the two as being different, I see them as two forms of art that allow me to express myself freely. In both, you're only limited to what your mind can imagine and with enough practice and research you can execute the desired result. However, the most important part is the journey that gets you to the finished result, without that there would be no true satisfaction” he voiced. Mark now has a screen printing business in Emu Plains, Black Canvas Screen Printing. Some of his amazing art is on display and for sale. He plans to put on art and screen printing workshops, creating a place for local artists and like-minded people together in the community where they can be creative. You can follow Mark’s art journey on Instagram at @dublu_fromthesoul and his screen printing at @blankcanvasprinting.

25th Mother’s Day Classic The 25th Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic will once again bring Australians together on Mother’s Day to celebrate and honour those affected by breast cancer and raise vital funds for breast cancer research. On Sunday, May 8, 2022, supporters across the nation can walk, run or jog to unite for the silver anniversary of this iconic Australian event which does so much to lead in the fight against breast cancer. Over 1.5 million people have participated in the Mother’s Day Classic for breast cancer research over the past 24 years, making it Australia’s largest annual charity fun run and walk. “Major events are back! We are so excited to announce that there will be up to 70 event locations in major cities, metro areas and regional towns for Australians to register and get active for breast cancer research in 2022,” said Mother’s Day Classic CEO, Zara Lawless. “After two challenging years, having to first go virtual and then go local, the Mother’s Day Classic is now ready to deliver a fun and inspiring event experience in a COVID-safe manner that you won’t want to miss”. In Western Sydney, participants will experience the true magic of traditional MDC events. There will be the buzz of the event village, live entertainment, music and food stalls to enjoy throughout the morning on Mother’s Day. “It’s great to be welcoming back our traditional MDC event experiences and celebrating 25 years of impact with communities right across the nation,” Ms Lawless said. “We cannot wait to see everyone in their pink attire and communities coming together on Mother’s Day to connect and raise awareness for the cause”. If you prefer staying local this year, there is an option to walk or run at one of the many local events that will be held across Australia on Mother’s Day. And if you can’t join one of the MDC physical events on Mother’s Day, you can personalise an event to create your very own MDC experience and take part on a different day, time, or location. To find your nearest location, get active for breast cancer research and register online for the 2022 Mother’s Day Classic, visit mothersdayclassic.com.au.

Huge Celebration Planned for Local School’s 50th Anniversary This year is hugely significant for Emu Heights Public School, as the school celebrates it’s 50th Anniversary. A range of events and functions have been proposed throughout the year, culminating in a big celebration in September. On Friday 9th September, the day will include a time capsule opening from the bicentennial, naming of the oval and various other events. Later that afternoon, the school’s gates will reopen for an extravaganza-filled evening featuring live musical entertainment, family outdoor movie, messages of support from celebrities and the like on the big screen, outdoor food stalls/vans and a fireworks display. The evening following, 10th September, is proposed for a more formal event at Emu Sports Club with guests from the past 50 years of the school being in attendance. This will be a ticketed event and they anticipate 800 people will attend. “The 50th Celebration is not just a school event, but also a community event. It is a welcome back to the community, after all have experienced difficulties in the past couple of years” explained Sue Summerville, Office Manager of Emu Heights Public School. The celebrations are being co-ordinated by an Organising Committee, who have been formed for the momentous occasion. “We would like to thank Jim Aitken and Partners Real Estate for coming on board as a major sponsor and Emu Plains Sporting Club for their support. We welcome any person or company who may be interested to also support this wonderful school and community celebration” said Owen Sargeant of Emu Heights Public School 50th Anniversary Organising Committee. Further updates throughout the year will be available on the Emu Heights Public School P&C Facebook page. A 50th Celebration Facebook page is also proposed, enabling ex and present Emu Heights school and community members to keep up to date with events. Let the Kids Play: The Value of Play for Children’s Development “Play is the work of the child,” according to physician and educator Maria Montessori. As our understanding of child development deepens, the value of play has only become more apparent. ‘Free play’ describes play that is unplanned, spontaneous, and led by the child’s curiosity, interest, or imagination. For example, a child starts to draw and decides to create their own board game on the page or to create their own map of the house. Free play is crucial for optimal physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. Physical play involves moving the body and can look like kicking a ball around the yard or learning a new dance. This helps to build children’s muscles and bones. Constructive play is all about creating something, examples include building a block tower, painting a picture, and playing a song on a musical instrument. This supports children’s capacity to solve problems, connect new ideas and follow their curiosity. Social play happens when your child plays with other children. This gives children opportunities to develop important social skills such as cooperation, communication, and language. Fantasy play is when children use their imagination to create worlds and characters, for example playing dress up or pretending to be a mum and baby. These activities support social and cognitive skills. At Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services, we offer free supported playgroups. Supported playgroups provide a fun and safe place for children to explore and engage with developmentally enriching activities such as sing-a-longs, story time, arts, craft, and free play. Playgroups are a great place to connect with other families in your area. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are here to answer any burning parenting questions you may have, and to offer ideas for maximising play at home. Emu Plains student Josie Mazurkiewicz has created Good Things For Good Reasons, a concept to help those less fortunate than herself. The idea involves selling eggs laid by her chickens to raise money for charity. Josie has two ex-battery hens from Hen Rescue NSW that produce the eggs that she sells. The money that she makes is split three ways – towards a charity of her choice, caring for the chickens and to Josie for her hard work. “During COVID lockdown in 2021, Josie noticed that there were people who didn’t have homes to isolate in and had nowhere to go. We had discussions around how many homeless people have to ask for money to buy food because they are unable to work” said Amanda Mazurkiewicz, Josie’s Mum to the Emu and Leonay Gazette. “Josie decided that for her 8th birthday, she wanted to share her good fortune and raise money to donate to a local charity. So, she set up a COVID-safe table with an honesty jar in the front yard on her birthday and we put a post on Facebook letting the community know that they could buy fresh eggs, fresh oranges or make donations for one day” she continued. At the end of the day, the selfless local donated $115 to Mama Lana’s and inspired others in the community to make donations. “Projects like this help to bring out the best in people and raise money to support people who need homes, food and other things that we have” Amanda explained. With plans to expand on the project, Josie is hoping to sell oranges from their tree and other vegetables that they might be able to grow when they are in season. “If we had more space, Josie would love to have more chickens” she smiled. The community can get involved with Good Things For Good Reasons by buying eggs and oranges when they’re available. “People can either donate, or sell at a reduced cost, any other home-grown products that they would like to add to our list. This could include more eggs, honey or fruit and vegetables, so that we can raise more money for local charities. And, of course, they can also donate to charities such as Mama Lana’s to help others in need” ended Amanda. Emu Plains/Glenmore Park Lions Junior AFL Club are ready and roaring for the 2022 season. With the new season beginning in April/May, this year will see about 150 players take the field at Dukes Oval for the local club. This will consist of players in Auskick (Under 5’s to Under 8’s) and Under 9’s through to Under 17’s. Registrations for 2022 are still open. There are still vacancies in most age groups. The pandemic’s effect on last season hasn’t dampened the club spirits, with many junior players shining. Under 16’s player Dylan Jones, was chosen to join the Giants Academy. The Giants also run a Development Academy for Under 12’s to Under 15’s players and the club has 15-20 players in this program. “Emu Plains/Glenmore Park Lions Junior AFL are looking forward to a full season ahead, with do disruptions due to COVID. The only delays we’ve had this far are due to the wet weather. We’re hopeful for a bigger presence and we can do this with more games” explained Paul Jones, Executive Committee Member of Emu Plains/Glenmore Park Lions Junior AFL Club. “Our Under 14’s were crowned premiers in 2020. We would love to see more teams make it this season” he continued. Toyota Forklift Handling and Penrith Lock-Up Storage are onboard as sponsors of the Lions. Sponsors and volunteers are welcome throughout the year. This season will also see the club utilise the recently upgraded lighting at Dukes Oval, their home ground. Governments Need Help

It’s on again – election time. The older I get the quicker they seem to come around. And whatever your politics, and if anyone needed convincing, the last few years have shown in their own unique way that governments impact our lives. And it reminded me again that our governments need help. The decision makers in Canberra or Macquarie St or Penrith – they’re people like us. They have their strengths and their weaknesses. They have complex challenges to tackle. They can go about what they do with the best of intentions – and still get it wrong. At the same time too, we’ve got lots to be thankful for – as a country with so much. But where will the help I’m talking about come from? Global corporations perhaps? Some of them are bigger than whole countries these days. But no, they suffer all the same problems as governments. No, the help our governments need comes from the one who governs governments. I say that because when Paul was writing to followers of Jesus in the Bible, and teaching them what to pray, he said to pray for kings and all those in authority (1 Timothy 2:2). He’s saying, ask God to work in our governments. Ask him to help them make wise decisions. Ask him to help steer them away from selfinterest. Ask him to guide them to make decisions that protect the vulnerable. Ask him to guide them so we can live with each other and live in peace. The Bible tells us this world is in God’s hands. But he gives us the privilege to ask for what we need. And we need good government. So, the churches I’ve gone to for the last 30 years have made that a pattern. And for all of us who pray to God – let’s pray for our governments!

HEALTH MATTERS

Article Written + Submitted by: Andreas Klein Nutritionist + Remedial Therapist from Beautiful Health + Wellness P: 0418 166 269

Most people don’t realise that there are 2 forms Of Vitamin K with different Functions There are two forms of Vitamin K, Vitamin-K1 and K2. Vitamin-K1 is high in green leafy vegetables and other foods such as kiwifruits and dried prunes. Vitamin-K2 comes from fermented foods. The two forms clearly have different roles in the body. Vitamin-K1 is vital for both producing blood clots to stop blood loss. It also stops inappropriate blood clotting. For example, unwanted clots in blood could lodge in the leg veins, lung, or heart arteries, causing DVT, pulmonary embolism or heart attack respectively. Though Vitamin-K2 is synthesized from Vitamin-K1 in brain, liver, and pancreas; food scientists have recommended a separate RDI from Vitamin-K1. Vitamin-K2 helps improve outcomes for osteoporosis, atherosclerosis, cancer, and inflammatory diseases. For 1,000 years (30 generations), natto, the world’s richest Vitamin-K2 source, has been eaten in Northern Japanese cuisine, without any adverse side-effects. Natto is one reason for Japanese people having lower fracture risks and better bone density/ strength than other countries. Within Japan, the higher the natto consumption the lower the age-related bone loss. Supplemented Vitamin-K2 is also very safe. In Japan, doctors

10

May 2022 www.emuleonaygazette.com.au

regularly prescribe 45 mg/day (15 mg MK-4 three times a day) of Vitamin-K2 to osteoporotic women. Worldwide, Vitamin-K2 trials have used doses as low as 10 μg, up to 45 mg/day for several years with no adverse side effects. Even doses of 135 mg/day had no adverse side effects. Recently, Japanese postmenopausal women given just 350 μg/ week of MK-7 showed significantly reduced osteoporotic fracture risk. Vitamin-K2 deficiency is established in haemodialysis patients and implicated as the link between high rate of vascular calcification, bone mineral density loss, and fracture rate of these patients. Vitamin-K2 supplementation studies also suggests potential benefit for cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes and for patients with chronic kidney disease. From a clinical nutrition perspective, it’s generally more beneficial to eat foods rich in Vitamin-K1 or K2 rather than supplement. Why? Foods allow a person to cover multiple bases. For example, bone loss rate is dependent on Vitamin-K2 intake, and protein intake (amongst many other factors). When a person eats natto, they’ll get excellent, highly bio-available levels of protein, Vitamin-K2, together with many other bone-healthy factors, in the one food.

‘Cloudstreet’ Comes to Glenbrook

Glenbrook Players begin their 2022 season this month, with an adaptation for the stage by Nick Enright and Justin Monjo of Tim Winton’s acclaimed novel, Cloudstreet. Director, Ainslie Yardley, describes Cloudstreet as a cracking good yarn and her favourite Tim Winton book, “It has been such a joy to work with this beautifully written text”. It tells the story of two very different Aussie families, the dramatic events surrounding them, and the joys and tragedies they experience living under the same roof in Number One Cloudstreet, Perth, from 1943 to 1964. “The things I love most about this play are its wonderfully crafted characters, the evocative landscape and the sense of family and belonging supported by the Indigenous presence throughout. Every single member of the audience will find someone they recognise – that is my Dad, my Auntie, my Nan, or my brother. It is a story of epic proportions” explained Ainslie. The local production heralds a triumph in the face of the pandemic and recent floods. “It has been an epic journey for us too, developing this show through the COVID pandemic and the floods that have affected us all so dramatically. We auditioned in 2021, the weekend before everyone went into lockdown and theatres closed. We began rehearsals on Zoom shortly after, keeping the dream alive and the creative work flowing through two postponements and rain flooding our set even as it was constructed” she stated. “Months passed before our 20-strong cast even met each other in person. That first time the room was buzzing. The cohesion of the cast and the quality of their performance is a testament to their commitment, and the crews, determination to bring this wonderful story to our Glenbrook stage. It was a roller coaster ride, but it was absolutely worth it. I think our audiences will feel that too” Ainslie continued. The cast includes Sophie Seaborn, Madeleine Sheehy, Shaun Larotet, Matthew Kelly, Tre Doyle, Cassidy Roberts, Mya Pockran, Marianne Gibney-Quinteros, Max Jackson, Josh Stojanovic, Angela Pezzano, Jenaya Jacka, Liam O’Loughlin, Amy Sherden, Ryan Taylor, Reginald Hewitt, Matthew Doherty, Riley Kemble, Jill Hogwood, and Lara Campbell. Cloudstreet opens on May 20 in Glenbrook. It runs over two weekends, with evening performances on the 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th of May; and matinee performances on the 21st, 22nd and 28th of May. Construction Starts on the Jewel of Western Sydney Western Sydney will soon enjoy a greatly enhanced riverside walk and nature reserve thanks to work starting on a $13 million waterfront investment at Tench Reserve as part of the NSW Government’s $50 million Parks for People Program. Tench Reserve will see the creation of a new amphitheatre, inclusive playspace and improvements to the 7km River Walk stretching along the Nepean River and is the first of eight new and upgraded parks to begin construction. Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said the works would support a growing community in Western Sydney and deliver improvements to more than 11 hectares of regional open space close to homes. “This is a milestone for the Parks for People Program as the first to get underway, inspired by one of Penrith’s most beautiful natural assets, the Nepean River,” Mr Roberts said. “Along with the upgraded wharf precinct and improved amenities, the park will feature an inclusive playspace, better access to the water, landscaping and 80 new trees.” Mr Roberts said Parks for People would create hundreds of new jobs from its $50 million investment in new open spaces, including in Camden, Campbelltown, Fairfield, Parramatta, Penrith, Northern Beaches, and The Hills. Minister for Western Sydney and Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres said six of the eight parks in the program were in Sydney’s West and would support the Government’s priority of increasing the proportion of homes in urban areas within ten minutes’ walk of quality green, open and public space. “We’re working in partnership with councils to set a new standard for high-quality public open space, with easily accessible places to relax, exercise, and connect with families and friends in the beauty of well-designed green spaces,” Mr Ayres said. “The upgrades build a stronger connection between the park and the river and will support our vision of making the Nepean River precinct an exceptional destination for nature and recreation. Our investment in the river precinct has made it the beating hear of Penrith”. Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen said the Nepean River was the region’s greatest natural asset and a much-loved recreational destination for residents and visitors alike. “Penrith City Council welcomes the upgrade of Tench Reserve through the Parks for People Program. The upgrade aligns with our vision of enhancing the natural environment and supporting active and healthy lifestyles through connections with the river,”Cr Hitchen said. Tench Reserve is due to be completed in December 2022 with the other parks to get underway throughout the year. For more information, please visit dpie.nsw.gov.au/tench.

PAWS A WHILE

Article Written + Submitted by: Camille Brandt from Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital A: 49 Wentworth Rd, Orchard Hills P: 4736 2027

A Wonderful Night at the Drive-In As a thank you to our clients, families, and friends, we recently invited them to join us to see the movie Clifford The Big Red Dog. We hired out an entire cinema at Skyline Drive-In Blacktown on Saturday 2nd April 2022. The night’s celebrations were a triple thank you to everyone for: 1. 12th Year Anniversary of owning the business of Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital 2. Thank you for your patience with us whilst we do contactless consultations due to COVID 3. We are winners of the 2021 Penrith Small Business Awards – Best Pet Care What a great night we had at the Drive-In! Thank you to all

those who attended. The staff were at the front gate welcoming everyone as they arrived and handed out the Candy Bar vouchers. It was great to see everyone’s smiling faces, after two years of contactless consultations. My face was hurting from smiling so much. So many cars were packed full of kids. Even the adults were being kids again. Some people even brought their own dogs along to watch the movie. I surprised everyone before the movie, with a pre-recorded thank you message, which was shown on the big screen! Check out the welcome speech video on YouTube at https://youtu.be/iT3NLqYO1zo and some of the highlights of the night at https://youtu.be/rDSk783cBg8. You can also see the videos on Facebook and online at www.orchardhillsvet.com.au.

Lions Visit New Hospital Wards

Maryann Ciccone, the Sponsorship Manager from Nepean Hospital, recently arranged an inspection tour of the new neonatal and emergency wards, for a few privileged Emu Plains Lions. The Lions group were super-impressed with the modern facilities and gobsmacked by the size of the new wards, taking a couple of hours just to inspect the neonatal and emergency wards. The new emergency ward provides 14 designated parking bays for ambulances, as well as convenient access to vital X-ray sand scan equipment. The neonatal ward provides plenty of single rooms and rest areas necessary for the care associated with the ‘young’ patients. Lion Steve Wallace is Emu Plains Lions ‘medical liaison’ and provides the connection with the hospital for the Lions Club. Steve had cancer treatment at the Nepean Cancer Care Centre a couple of years ago and vowed to ‘give back’ to the medical staff who treated him. He saw Lions as a perfect way of achieving that. v Maryann Ciccone with Lions Steve Wallace and Trang Dang. Image: Cheryl Devine | Article: Lions Club of Emu Plains

THE LAST WORD FROM THE EDITOR

This month we stop to cherish our Mums on Mother’s Day. To all our mothers, grandmothers, and wonderful role models in our lives, we wish you a delightful Mother's Day. May your children bring you joy and with any luck breakfast in bed. For those whose Mums were taken too soon, treasure the magic moments and memories that spark joy and happiness of better days before it. We get a real kick out of all the happenings in and around the community, May is no exception! Moreover, the Election has been called - I’m sure we're not the only ones who can't wait for it to be behind us. For now, sit back, don't forget your pencil for the puzzles, relax with a cuppa or cold drink while we start compiling the June edition for your reading pleasure! Remember, it’s not what we have in life, but who we have in our lives that matter.
