Ian and Diane: A 50-Year Love Story

We have no links or Ɵes to any Įnancial insƟtuƟon. We’re working on our client’s behalf

It was February 13th, 1969. Seventeen-year old Ian Jackson was at Nirimba Naval Base doing his last year of an apprenticeship. Once a month, Nirimba would host a dance on base and would drive out to Penrith to pick girls up wanting to attend. On this day, Ian, dressed in a black and gold uniform, was the designated host on the bus. Diane Thomson was not keen to attend the dance, but her cousin and parents managed to convince the seventeen-year old to go. Diane’s parents drove into Penrith to check the girls got on the bus. Upon arrival, they found the blue Navy bus bearing down High Street with no Diane or cousin on it. The girls had gone for a walk to buy mints and missed the bus! Diane’s Mum got out of her car, ran across the road wildly waving for the bus to stop and fell over in the middle of the highway ripping her stockings. Soon after, Diane and her cousin sauntered back, none the wiser, to find the bus waiting for them. That evening Diane met ‘this really handsome sailor’ who asked her out. It was Ian, and so their love story began. When Diane arrived home that night, her mum explained her traumatic experience she had with the bus and the ‘gentle handsome sailor’ who rushed to her aid. Diane’s Dad commented, “Never mind Mum. You will never see him again so don’t worry”. Boy was he wrong! The next day, Ian came to the family home to meet Diane’s parents only to discover that he was the ‘gentle handsome sailor’ who aided her Mum when she fell. After six weeks of dating, Diane and Ian were totally in love and just under three years later were married at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Penrith. Fast forward fifty years and they have three children, seven grandchildren and are expecting their first great grandchild in March. JA Z Z. FAITH – GLENMORE PARK ANGLICAN CHURCH Article Written + Submitted by: Rev John Lavender P: 4733 1635 A: Cnr William Howell Dr + Pritchard Pl, Glenmore Park W: www.glenmoreparkanglican.com.au Service Times: Sundays @ 8.30 and 10.15am, 5 + 7pm. Plus activities for adults + young people right throughout the week.

You Cannot Live On Bread Alone New Year’s Resolutions – does anyone make them anymore? It seems as if they are often a bit of fun, a good topic of conversation for Talk Back Radio and various Morning TV shows as people discuss weight loss strategies, exercise programs and set goals for the year regarding diets, the use of time and managing money. Now, here we are in February, and how many of our resolutions are forgotten or broken and we’ve moved on to something else! Yet there is a serious side to it; a desire for change. A desire to put behind us the things of the past; to have things in life turn around for the better. Many of us would like to be more consistent in the way we relate to our friends and family. We’d like better personal habits; eating, sleeping, keeping fit, but perhaps after a while it just gets too hard. As you think about your year ahead, consider what Jesus said in the Bible’s Gospel of Matthew, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Jesus is simply saying that while our lives might include many good things; family, work, friends, recreation, even helpful challenges and opportunities, it is impossible for us to live life as it is supposed to be lived if we do not have God and His words and His directions, His wisdom and His promises at the centre of our thinking and planning. Even though it is February, can I encourage you to make a life

changing New Year’s Resolution? Take the plunge and resolve to join us on Sundays and throughout the week at Glenmore Park Anglican Church. Here you’ll find a gathering of people from Glenmore Park and the surrounding suburbs, who are working hard to trust and apply the truth of what Jesus has said. As together we discover what it means to trust Jesus more and more, as together we get to know Him, we are able to experience the joy and transforming difference, the confident hope that knowing Jesus makes to our life. We would love to see you so you can know this difference as well.

Endings and New Beginnings As we face a new year and feel desire for something new or fresh in parts of our lives, it will pay us to consider a basic principle: endings make way for new beginnings. For example, if we want to go to the shops we can’t also be at home. Or if we want to wear a clean shirt, we must first take off the dirty one. In this sense endings make way for new beginnings. Let’s apply this to some deeper aspects of our lives. If we desire peace, we need to stop involving in the things or the contexts that rob us of peace. If we want a better relationship with our spouse or our children, we must put an end to the ways of relating that are not fruitful and put in place a better way of being together. If we struggle to find happiness, we must bring an end to the sort of life that leaves us sad so that a new, happier life can begin. This might involve changes to priorities, work, the use of time, the use of grog to escape things, or our vision for the year ahead. Endings make way for new beginnings. If someone we love has hurt us, we need to put an end to the cold war so that forgiveness can bring a new beginning. Most people would probably respect Jesus Christ, but his teaching on how to find God’s help for new beginnings is challenging: to find the life of God we need to end the selffocussed life and pursue a life focussed on God first. We must put an end to trying to make it on our own if it’s not working and look to Jesus for new beginnings in the love and power of God. Endings make way for new beginnings. Otherwise the secret cries of our souls remain unanswered. I pray 2019 brings wonderful new beginnings for you and your family. Go well, Paul.

Foothills Vineyard Church started as a handful of people in a rental property in Yellow Gum Close, Glenmore Park in mid1995. Its members often washed cars for free or gave out free cold drinks in the area on hot days “just to show the love of God – no strings attached”. In February 1996, the church moved into Regentville School and has met there for the last twenty-three years! Around 15 years ago, the church purchased land in Factory Road, Regentville for a church home. According to the previous owner, the land was once part of a chicken farm extending across what is now the M4 and the Harvey Norman complex. Grapes and other produce were also grown on the land. Foothills Church (a name change) is finally building a home in Factory Road. In keeping with the history of the land and the vision of the church to bring restoration and fruitfulness to people’s lives, close to one hundred fruit trees will be planted on the property. The new home of Foothills Church will be dubbed “The Orchard” and their “Orchard Café” will operate for church and community events. A community garden will also be established to engage people with a disability and play areas for young and older kids. Church services will be at 9.30am (with Kid’s Church) and 5pm (a youth service). The church offers a thriving youth group and many other activities to help people grow spiritually and live well. There is an open invitation for anyone wanting to join the church family. The official opening will be on Sunday February 24. Everyone is welcome to the worship service at 9.30am, or feel free to rock up from 11.30am for free awesome coffee from the café, a free BBQ lunch, and giant water slide for the kids to enjoy into the afternoon. For further details call the Pastor, Paul Marshall on 0413 806977. Foothills Church finally finds a home and you and your family are welcome to check it out and help this Christian community celebrate after a long wait.

School Bells Ring for Darlington’s Do you have your school bag? Have you packed your lunch? Did you brush your teeth? There’s no denying that the first day of school for the year can be chaos. For many parents, this also includes sending their children to a new school, whether it be kindergarten or high school. This year, the Darlington family household will be experiencing just that, with Jack Darlington starting kindergarten at Regentville Public School and older sister Georgia starting high school at Glenmore Park High School. “As a parent, it’s an exciting and reflective time as new milestones are met with our two youngest children starting at new schools. We are looking forward to sharing their achievements and adventures throughout the next chapter of their schooling” said Dianne Darlington, Jack and Georgia’s Mum. The excitement of walking through the school gates for a new year brings with it hopes and dreams. Both Jack and Georgia look forward to their big day ahead. “I’m actually not nervous. I love it because I can do lots of things there like playing. There is a big kid area and a little kid area” beamed Jack. Georgia has already faced the familiar primary school environment and is looking towards the next chapter of life as a high school student. “I’m looking forward to a variety of new subjects and meeting lots of new friends” she explained. Once they’ve finished school, like many of their friends, they too know what jobs they’d like to have. Georgia would like to become a lawyer as she enjoys public speaking and debating. Jack looks to have a busy life ahead of him, instead wishing to be a motorbike rider, monster truck driver, zookeeper, ninja or a vet! “Our local area, as well as Regentville Public School and Glenmore Park High School, offer an abundance of extracurricular activities, opportunities and new experiences. Whether it be the arts, sport or academics, there is always an opportunity for our kids to participate in whatever they are interested in” ended Dianne. The Glenmore Gazette would like to wish those students starting or returning to school the best of luck this year. U

A Message of Love There’s no occasion quite as special as Valentine’s Day, where for many centuries lovers from all aspects of the world come together to share their endless appreciation for one another. Today this is typically done through the exchanging of small tokens of appreciation, such as chocolates, flowers or even jewellery. In fact, it is estimated that each year, over 1 billion cards are purchased solely for Valentine’s Day gifts. The heavily celebrated occasion that takes place on the 14th of February each year, originally began in the year 496, as a religious celebration where the red rose, symbolic for love and passion, was given to show countless affection. The day has been celebrated in a variety of different cultures, mostly popular in western society and is also celebrated in China, France and various locations on the map. Whilst Valentine’s Day may not be celebrated by everyone, one thing is for sure on the big day..... it’s a day that holds a significant and valuable message of love and acceptance. PARENTS CORNER

Article Written + Submitted by: Narelle Smith (Family Worker) Nepean Community + Neighbourhood Services P: 47218520 E: narelle@nepeancommunity.org.au FaceBook: Parenting in Penrith Blog: handsheartsminds.wordpress.com

“If It’s Predictable, It’s Preventable” I don’t know who came up with this phrase, but it’s so true. If everyday (or fairly frequently), you have a kid that does the same thing over and over again. Whether it’s getting angry, teasing her brother, forgetting to hang the towel up after a bath, etc. That’s not a ‘problem’. That’s an opportunity. An opportunity to teach a new skill. What is the child’s skill deficit? And how can you teach him or her to learn a new skill? Now, when I ask parents these questions, the first thing they try to come up with is a consequence for the behaviour. How can I punish the child for that behaviour? But teaching opportunities, are not about making a child feel bad, withdrawing privileges, and creating stress. It’s about the parent-child relationship, connection, believing in the innate goodness and capacity of your child, focusing on the positives, communication, coming up with creative solutions, and collaboration. And at the same time role modelling those same skills. For example, if you want your child to learn to manage his temper, you have to role model being able to calm down when you have strong feelings. To teach any skill well, you have to move from reactive’ to proactive’. The negative cycle of conflict is unhelpful, it clearly isn’t working because it is still a problem. • How can you change the interactions, so that things are calmer and you can focus more on the positive? • How can you reframe your view of the child from ‘naughty’ or ‘bad’ to ‘s/he just doesn’t have the skills s/he needs at the moment’? • What strategies will you use to guide, nurture, support, and encourage your child to learn new skills? Make a plan. Talk to the child about it. Get some agreement. Consider his/her views and ideas. Put the plan into action. Be consistent! Monitor your progress every day, and review your plan after a week. Is the behaviour getting smaller or bigger? What’s working? What’s not working? Tweak the plan and keep going. And remember, that it is not simply enough to teach a child a skill once and assume that s/he can do it. You have to be kindly persistent. You are the adult, and you are supposed to be stronger, wiser, and kind.

The Complete Educational Package at St Paul’s Grammar School I consider St Paul’s Grammar School to be the leading school in Western Sydney, due to its unparalleled choice of subjects and extensive range of cocurricular offerings. However, school rankings of academic success may not include St Paul’s, despite very strong and consistent results. St Paul’s offers a diverse HSC curriculum, allowing students to specialize their study to excel in areas of interest. 2018 HSC Dux, Matthew Seckold, tailored his course to focus on his strengths of English and Humanities. HSC Runner-Up, Albi Benjamin, chose Mathematics and Physics, which complimented his areas of interest. Noah Godsell, who has been accepted to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, included Dance and Extension Music. St Paul’s also offers the International Baccalaureate (IB), globally recognised as perfect preparation for further study and careers in today’s world. All St Paul’s students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 10 study IB programmes. In Years 11 and 12, students choose between the HSC and the IB Diploma as their final school qualification. The IB Diploma focuses on preparation for university, developing critical thinking and research skills essential for tertiary success. Half of St Paul’s senior students complete the IB and as results are released three weeks after the HSC, they are not included in academic school comparisons websites based on the HSC. Combining HSC and IB Diploma results, St Paul’s typically has 30% of Year 12 students rank in the top 10% of academic results and 50% of students achieve ATARs above 80, significantly ahead of other local non-selective schools. We are also proud of the fact that challenging opportunities are provided to students for whom a high ATAR is not a goal. We celebrate their success as well. St Paul’s offers the complete educational package to meet the needs of each and every student. U Antony Mayrhofer and students | Image Supplied. Back to School Basics The school holidays are officially over and parents across the state are breathing a sigh of relief as their children head back to school. But now, as the official 2019 school year has commenced it is time to reintroduce daily routines and expectations or begin implementing new ones that suit your current circumstances and needs. Whether you have a child transitioning to school, a change of work arrangements, a teenager moving into high school or have moved and need to accommodate a new job and school into the mix – there are some simple ways to manage the back to school bedlam. 1. Be organised. Talk about expectations of bedtimes, technology usage and homework. Allocate jobs to each family member. Try to ensure uniforms and lunches are prepared before the day (even just the night before) to make the morning routine run smoothly. Label all school belongings and have a designated tidy space for bags. Prepare an area for homework with adequate equipment. 2. Create a daily and weekly schedule or timetable. You might like to do this for each family member and include household tasks, extracurricular activities, homework and library/sport days. Also, have a large calendar displayed in a central position in your home. Encourage all your family members to check the calendar before making plans and write any special occasions, appointments, school holidays at the beginning of each year. 3. Regularly ‘check-in’ with your child’s teacher. Many working parents feel disconnected to the school because they very rarely get to pick up or drop off. A way to combat this is to connect to the class teacher via email or through any school messaging platform once or twice a term just to touch base and check that your child is going okay, but also to let the teacher know of any concerns you may have. Open lines of communication are a must for a good homeschool relationship. 4. Allow for changes – be flexible. Not everything will go according to plan so roll with it. 5. Get enough sleep (that includes you too Mum and Dad). Try not to overcommit to too many evening activities. 6. Ask for help if you need it. It takes a village to raise a child so find your tribe and create your network. Don’t be afraid to ask for assistance with drop offs and pickups. When you are able, offer the same things to others. We are all in this together.

GAME REVIEW

....... Arms

Arms is a boxing game. There are 15 characters and each of them are unlike one another. There are a lot of mods in the game and the modes you can play are grand prix, versus and party match. In grand prix mode, you can choose your character (between 1-15) and your combination of arms, then you’re ready to fight. You battle 10 other fighters in a row and if you win all 10 matches, you become the champion. In versus mode, this is the perfect mode to play in if a friend wants to play with you. This is my favourite mode. Basically, there are different places to battle. Instead of playing against the computer, you play against your friends. Party match mode is where you and a few other people battle off like a tournament and the most points win. There are also 42 different arms that you can get to put on your person. Some of them bounce, spin, protect and explode. You can earn coins to buy new arms as you go. I recommend this game to anyone over the age of 8 years. I rate it 8 out of 10 (only available on Nintendo Switch) and THANKS Grandma, it's a top game!

Man Charged Over Alleged Online Grooming Of A Child For Sex A man faced court last month after being charged by Strike Force Trawler detectives over the alleged online grooming of a child for sexual activity. In December 2018, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) began engaging online with a man from the Nepean region. Police will allege in court that the man believed he was speaking with a 10-year-old boy and engaged in sexually explicit conversations, which included indecent communications via webcam. Following extensive inquiries, a 57-year-old man was arrested by Strike Force Trawler detectives at Penrith Police Station about 10.15am (Thursday 17 January 2019). Shortly after the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant at a home at Glenmore Park, where they seized various electronic devices. The man was charged with use carriage service to groom child under 16 years of age for sexual activity. He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court. Inquiries are continuing. Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by the CEIU into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices. Regular covert online investigations are conducted by the CEIU; and police in NSW work closely with their law-enforcement colleagues interstate and overseas. Phone Council before you Fill!

Thinking of levelling your land or filling in areas of your property? Phone Council before you fill! Penrith Mayor, Ross Fowler OAM said that using landfill to raise or level your property could be illegal, so check with Council first. Illegal landfilling is filling without the necessary planning or licensing approvals. This commonly happens when construction and demolition waste is used as illegal fill for landscaping, land modification, reclamation works, roads and noise mounds. “Illegal fill can contain contaminants like lead, asbestos or chemicals, which can harm human health and the environment. Illegal landfilling could permanently devalue your land, and you could end up facing hefty fines and clean-up costs,” Cr Fowler said. “It’s also illegal to use fill to divert the natural overland flow of water, which could negatively impact or damage neighbouring properties. “If you’re looking at doing some filling or earthworks, make sure you check with Council first. Property owners are responsible for making sure they don’t illegally bring fill onto their land, including putting it where it could harm plants, wildlife or waterways or cause flooding. “Accepting illegal fill could lead to the property owner being prosecuted up to $5 million. They can also be charged expensive fees to remove the landfill from the site where it’s been buried,” he continued. “Suppliers also need to obtain official certification to ensure that the fill is free of chemicals and harmful materials. Toxic fill can poison land and vegetation, with the potential for soil erosion, property devaluation and pollution of our City’s waterways. “Property owners need to be wary of suppliers seeking out places to dispose of fill material as a means of evading the cost of taking fill to a registered waste facility. “The message is clear: phone before you fill, and don’t risk your property, family health or money.” To avoid penalties for unauthorised fill, residents are advised to check with Council on 4732 7777 before using land fill on their property. If you see illegal dumping or landfilling, report it to the RID squad on 131 555. U Image Supplied

$250,000 Funding Boost for Sporting Facility Upgrades

Liberal Senator for Western Sydney, Senator the Hon Marise Payne, has announced a $250,000 funding boost for sports facility upgrades in Lindsay. The Coalition government will invest $50,000 in upgrading floodlighting at the Surveyors Creek Softball Facility for Diamond One in Glenmore Park, and a $200,000 investment will be delivered for the renewal of the aged amenity building at Hunter Fields in Emu Plains. These investments are part of the ‘Move It Aus’ Community Sport Infrastructure grant program. Senator Payne said the funding announcement is yet another win for grassroots sport in Lindsay. “We all know that Lindsay loves its sport. So, I am pleased the Morrison government is able to make this funding commitment, which will help to ensure our community benefits from the best possible facilities” Senator Payne said. “The upgrades to Surveyors Creek and Hunter Fields is great news for local sporting clubs, like the mighty Emu Plains FC, and will help encourage players and locals alike to get active and have fun, which is what grassroots sport is all about. “The funding announcement comes off the back of the Western Sydney Sports Survey which has received hundreds of responses

from sporting groups and associations across Western Sydney. “This community feedback is so important, and I encourage local sporting clubs and associations to visit my website and complete the survey”. Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said the new facilities will strengthen local sporting organisations, giving them new infrastructure to support an active community. “I commend the Federal Government and the work of Senator Payne in securing these grants for the Penrith community” Cr Fowler said. “The investment in sport and recreation in Penrith is vital to ensuring an active and healthy community”. Trent Atkins, President of the Penrith City Softball Association, said the upgrade to floodlighting at Diamond One would help future-proof the needs of the local softball teams who call Surveyors Creek home. “The Association welcomes this funding boost to the upgraded floodlighting because it will allow us to hold more games at night which will help increase participation” Mr Atkins said. Loretta Watts, President of Softball NSW, said the floodlighting will expand the capabilities of the Facility to help meet the needs of the players. “Softball NSW would like to thank Senator Payne, the Federal Government and Penrith City Council for their outstanding support of our sport” Ms Watts said. “The grant provided for the floodlights will greatly assist the Penrith City Softball Association to help increase participation by introducing possible weeknight games”. Penrith City Council is the proponent for each project. U Official announcement attendees at Surveyors Creek Softball Facility. Image Supplied

We’re Mowing as Fast as we Can The recent rain has made it impossible for Penrith City Council to mow their 428ha of parks, 340ha of sportsgrounds and 235ha of community land as often as usual, but they know it’s a priority! Their heavy-duty mowing equipment weighs up to 5 tonnes, and would cause damage if used on soft, wet ground. Now that the sun is back and the ground is starting to dry, Council teams across the City are working hard to catch up and return their open spaces to their usual high standard. They know this is a top priority for our community, so it is for us too. They thank you for your understanding. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact Council on 4732 7777 or fill in their short online Report a Problem form at www. penrith.city/report-it/

HEALTH MATTERS

Article Written + Submitted by: Andreas Klein Nutritionist + Remedial Therapist from Beautiful Health + Wellness P: 0418 166 269

Paracetamol for Osteoarthritis & Back Pain – How Effective is it? Paracetamol (acetaminophen) has been used in Australia for pain relief and fever since the 1950's. It is safe and effective when taken as directed on the label. Harvard medical school suggests taking paracetamol to provide: • ‘week-long “holidaysâ€? from your Non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)’ as it • ‘Relieves pain without increased heart attack or stroke risk’ or the other NSAID-intake associated health risks. I occasionally see patients who are taking relatively high dose paracetamol for extended periods. A recent patient had been taking 4000mg paracetamol daily for over 3 years for knee pain, yet the patient rated her knee pain at 8-9 out of ten. Another recent patient with ongoing high levels of pain was taking the same 4000mg dose of paracetamol daily, plus Mobic 15 mg daily, Endone 5mg (tid) & Lyrica 75mg (bid) for back, glut and leg pains, also for an extended period. Both patients still had considerable pain even on medications. This is common. While Paracetamol, when used appropriately remains an excellent medicine, there are however some facts from the medical literature that patients should consider and talk to their doctor about when taking longer term higher dose paracetamol for pain relief. The Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration advises Australians taking paracetamol to: 1. ‘Always follow the directions on the label. 2. Take the recommended dose. 3. Don't take paracetamol for more than a few days at a time unless specifically advised to by a doctor or pharmacist’ A 2015 Systematic review and meta-analysis in BMJ concluded that “high qualityâ€? evidence suggests that paracetamol: 1. ‘Is ineffective for reducing pain intensity or improving quality of life short term in people with low back pain, 2. paracetamol provides a significant, but not clinically important, effect on pain and disability in the short term for hip or knee osteoarthritis, 3. adverse events, serious adverse event, or study withdrawal was similar to placebo, 4. resulted in patients being nearly four times more likely to have abnormal results on liver function tests - the clinical importance of this effect is uncertain’. This increased rate of abnormal liver function tests certainly suggest that acetaminophen may negatively affect the liver. Indeed, acetaminophen toxicity in the US, has replaced viral hepatitis as the most frequent cause of acute liver failure. A

recent Medsacpe article on Acetaminophen toxicity states that a single ingestion of 7,500mg -10,000 mg, represents the minimum toxic dose that poses significant risk of severe hepatotoxicity for adults. This possibly toxic dose is just double the dose taken by the 2 patients above, and so it may not be too difficult for a patient seeking more pain relief to unwittingly take enough paracetamol to lead to acute liver damage. You may be asking ‘is paracetamol safe’? The answer is yes, if the drug is used at correct dose. But risks exist even with safe medicines as shown by a 2001 study on acetaminophen use. At medium to high, or excessively high dose; or if acetaminophen is taken at such a dose for extended periods, risk of adverse events increases. We’ll look at some of these and why they occur next article.

PAWS A WHILE

Article Written + Submitted by: Camille Brandt from Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital A: 377 Wentworth Rd, Orchard Hills P: 4736 2027

We are Relocating to Bigger Premises We will be relocating to bigger premises in the next few months. We will be located on the same road as we are currently on, Wentworth Road, but just further down the road. The new premises have been renovated to accommodate a veterinary hospital. The premises are huge! There are double brick walls, 3m high ceilings and a green bull nosed verandah around the front of the building. We will even have a concrete driveway and carpark! There will still be an off leash park in the front yard for you and your dogs to enjoy. We can’t wait!!!!! Camille purchased the veterinary hospital business nearly 9 years ago and there has been steady and continual growth of the business in this time. We started off with 4 staff and have grown to 16 staff members. We have definitely outgrown the current premises! We are unsure of the date of the relocation at this time, as there is still some work to be completed. We will let you know as soon as we know. We are so excited, we cannot wait for you to visit our large country practice! We will keep you up to date on Facebook with any news of the relocation date.

New Veterinarian Maya joined the Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital team in

January 2019. Maya recently graduated from the University of Sydney with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Growing up in both New York and Israel, Maya knew she wanted to be a vet from age 4, according to her parents. While still new to her career, Maya has a keen interest in internal medicine, wildlife and exotics, and has previously completed a research Masters on the reproductive physiology of the Tammar wallaby. Maya lives with two dogs, four cats, two cockatiels and her husband. Maya enjoys hiking, camping and putt putt golf on her days off.

Maternity Leave for 2 Staff Rachel, one of our veterinary nurses, is due February 2019 with her first child. Theresa, one of our veterinarians, is due March 2019 with her second child. We wish them best of luck through this special journey. We are all very excited for the new arrivals! Check out our Facebook page for baby updates. We look forward to meeting you and your pets at Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital, and please feel free to pop in anytime and meet the team.
