Iconic Warragamba Dam Wall to Re-Open For Public Access from March

ď ˛ď€ Source: sca.nsw.gov.au/pubs-and-galleries/galleries/photos/warragamba-dam

Member for Wollondilly Jai Rowell MP and Minister for Natural Resources, Lands and Water Kevin Humphries last month announced parts of the Warragamba Dam wall are set to reopen to the public on weekends and public holidays, after being off-limits for over 17 years. “Warragamba Dam was closed to the public in 1998 when construction began on a series of major upgrades and since that time there has been considerable public interest in accessing the dam wall. “Works are now underway to allow visitors to walk along a section of the Warragamba Dam wall on weekends and public holidays (except Good Friday and Christmas Day) with access to be allowed from mid-March. “I am very pleased to announce that from mid-March, people will once again be given the chance to walk along a section of Warragamba Dam wall and enjoy the sweeping views of beautiful Lake Burragorang. Mr. Rowell said. “Warragamba Dam has long been a popular tourist destination and access to the dam wall will further enhance the visitor experience. FROM THE EDITOR Yes, it’s already March! Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns have been finding their way onto the shelves since January. The kids have settled in nicely to their 'New Year' school routine, Mums and Dads are back at work, sporting calendars are full and we’re all back to our normal daily schedules. This month we have a wonderful publication full of interesting news, stories and events that are local to you! Our cover story detailing the reopening of the Dam Wall for public access has certainly been the talk of town; as has the widening of Mulgoa Rd on page 7. As always, Narelle has some interesting information in Parents Corner, this month she discusses Family Violence on page 8, while Camille highlights the danger of chocolate and our four-legged friends on page 16. We received an overwhelming response to our Luddenham Raceway Giveaway in last month’s publication. A huge amount of entries were received, making it very difficult for the District Gazette team to choose a winner! Find out who the lucky winner was, and what they had to say about their District Gazette on page 7. Thank you to all that entered. Here at the District Gazette 'We Love Local'. If you have a local good news story to share we would love to hear from you! Now, it's time to put your feet up, make a cuppa and enjoy 'Your Community News' "Don't let a bad day, make you feel like you have a bad life"

Luddenham Show Success

Taking place over the weekend of the 21st & 22nd of February, the 111th Annual Luddenham Show carried on traditions both good and bad. Sadly, another damp year carried on the form of the past few events. Whilst this disappointed the hard working committee & public, everyone on the grounds were determined not to let the occasional down pour wash away their good spirits. As usual the program kicked off with 8 rings of horse classes on the main arena and good numbers of cattle making for close competition. After many ribbons had been awarded to some very high quality livestock, all eyes turned to centre ring for the official opening and unveiling of a very special plaque. This paid homage to the local men and women who answered the buglers call-in and commemorated the role these very grounds played in the Great War. On hand to open the show were Ross Fowler A.O.M Mayor of Penrith and Local Federal M.P Fiona Scott. A hush fell over the crowd as the official party were led on to the ground by the 18th Battalion re-creation group. They formed a Guard of Honour with a pair of mounted troops in full Australian Light Horse and New Zealand mounted rifles uniforms. To add to the poignant feel, the ceremony took place in front of an actual WW1 Horse Drawn Wagon. Both Ross and Fiona unveiled the plaque containing both a Roll of Honour and a photograph from 1914 of the Luddenham Light Horse Squadron,

whilst they were camped on the showgrounds which they used as their base ,standing beside buildings still in use. Amongst the faces in the moving are forebears of both Fiona and Ross as well as many of the modern day committee. The crowd stood in silence with heads bowed as a bugler sounded The Last Post and it was said by some in the crowd “it was a real goose bump moment.” The monument will now be a permanent reminder of the debt we owe these local men and women. The afternoon and evening entertainment ranged from Dog High Jumps with the winners jumping well over 7ft to Showmow Lawn Mower Racing to the Buss Ride. Rank bucking bulls with names such as Novocaine and Operator made life very tough for the cowboys trying to make the 8 second bell. The feature act was a little Daihatsu hatchback with a jet engine fitted to the back. This strange looking machine had spectators around the fence line amazed at the power felt as the arena filled with smoke and a flaming tail leapt from the roaring jet engine. Over on the stage the Tuckitinya Band kept people up dancing well into the night. The Sunday morning got underway with more Horse Judging, with mostly ridden categories and the Poets Breakfast. In a paddock adjoining the showgrounds, men with their faithful and brainy working dogs tried to move 3 sheep around the trial course with same very good scores amassed. One of the attributes that Luddenham has become famous for is the quality and variety of the stage entertainment. This year of course was no exception, with acts such as Sheep Shearing, Penrith Performance Academy, Kosi & Pinky Fun Show and Walkabout Reptile Shows. The spectators had fun trying their skills in events such as Whip-Cracking, Ice Cream eating competitions and Dog Fancy Dress. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all our 2015 Sponsors for their very valued support. Without their continued efforts it would be impossible to keep bringing the “THE COUNTRY SHOW” to the outskirts of Sydney every year. Also a huge thanks must go to the many, many volunteers who put their hands up to help their local community. With plans already underway for the 112th Show the Society is always looking for new members with fresh ideas. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 8pm in the Pavilion or visit our Facebook page Luddenham AH & I Society.

FAITH – ANGLICAN PARISH of MULGOA Minister Matt Olliffe P: 4774 0422 M: 0401 958 161 Sunday Service times: 8:30am St Thomas’ Mulgoa. 10:30am St Paul’s Warragamba. 7pm Glenmore Park Anglican Church.

He who Lives by The Sword Dies by The Sword We have sadly witnessed more terrorism, notably the murder of 21 Coptic Christians in Libya by Islamic State. Though an obsolete weapon, the sword is being used by these wicked terrorists for its macabre theatre and shock value. It is now the governments of Muslim-majority countries, like those of Jordan and Egypt, who are also fighting Islamic State. Back at home, our police continue to foil terrorist plots, frequently because of tip-offs from Muslim Australians opposed to extremism. The brother of two of the Coptic Christians beheaded by Islamic State in Libya, Beshir Kamel, recently prayed this prayer for the men who murdered his brothers: “Dear God, please open their eyes to be saved and to quit their ignorance and the wrong teachings they were taught.” He also said: “Since the Roman era, Christians have been martyred and have learned to handle everything that comes our way. This only makes us stronger in our faith because the Bible told us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us.” (http://www. christiantoday.com/article/brother.of.slain.coptic.christians. thanks.isis.for.including.their.words.of.faith.in.murder. video/48412.htm) Christians are called not to be overcome by the evil they face but to overcome evil with good, doing good to those who hate them, and to pray. They are to pray for government, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives (1 Timothy 2:1-2). They are to pray for their enemy, that they might repent (Luke 6:2728). They are to pray for the coming of Christ and his Kingdom (Matthew 6:10). On the night before Jesus died, he told his disciples to sell their cloak to buy a sword (Luke 22:36-38). However, Jesus was speaking metaphorically and hyperbolically about the violence he was about to face. Jesus did not want his followers to use their two swords to fight and protect him. When Jesus was arrested, Peter drew his sword and cut off the ear of the high priest’s servant. But Jesus healed the wounded man, and told Peter to put his sword away (Matthew 26:51-4; Mark Luke 22:4951; John 18:10-11). Jesus also uttered the famous saying, ‘He who lives by the sword dies by the sword’ (Matthew 26:52). This saying has its own double edge. First, it tells Peter that the path of a Christian Apostle and fisher-of-men is not that of a soldier. Peter is not called to use force of arms, but to use only the metaphorical sword of ‘the word of God’. Second, it reminds us that the violent will be punished by the sword. Other parts of the New Testament tell us that the sword to punish the wrongdoer is wielded by government (Romans 13:1-7; 1 Peter 2:13-16). Government has the solemn duty of protecting its citizens and punishing wickedness. With the advent of modern weaponry, the sword is now a metaphor for deadly force. As citizens, we are called not to take revenge but leave room of God’s wrath (Romans 12:19). In the present, God’s wrath is exercised by government and its various arms: the police, courts, prisons, and military. In the future, when Christ returns, God himself will mete out any justice required. Christ Jesus has the sword of his mouth (Revelation 1:16, 2:16, 19:15, 21). Jesus Christ has real power, the power of destroying your enemies just by speaking. It is appropriate and right that Christian people serve in the police and the military. Jesus and the Apostles served many

soldiers with their ministry and miracles (eg Luke 7:1-10; Acts 10). And when soldiers came to John the Baptist, they were not directed to resign. Instead, they had to be fair and just as soldiers and to be content with their pay (Luke 3:14). In a fallen and sinful world, just war, and the use of deadly force by government, are at times a regrettable but solemn necessity. Those who exercise such a dreadful ministry on our behalf need our support and prayers.

You Gotta Ring Them Bells Now to change tack. In response to my last article about ringing the bell at St Thomas’ Mulgoa, Mrs Margaret Jenkins, a longtime resident of Silverdale, informed me of the recent history of the use of the church bell at All Saints, Silverdale. ‘In Silverdale, Bill Gibson had the task of ringing the bell for church services at All Saints on Sunday. When he arrived he would take out his watch and hold it where he would see it, until it was the exact time to ring the bell. This happened twice, 15 minutes before the service, and again on the hour of 3pm. In the mid 1990s, the bell rang on the fourth Sunday of the month (when All Saints had a service) by Len Clarke at 3pm. It would be lovely if all the churches once again rang their bells.’ Well, Mrs Jenkins is too far away to hear it, but listen out at around 8:20am on Sunday Morning if you live near St Thomas’ Mulgoa. Matt Olliffe, Minister, Anglican Parish of Mulgoa (Article submitted and written by)

On the passing of my wife Rose, I would like to thank the wonderful and caring people of Warragamba and Silverdale for all the help and kind words they have offered me. Pastors Corner I recently read a story about a young woman named Janett who grew up in the United Kingdom. At the age of 25 years, her boyfriend at the time, who had been a paratrooper, encouraged her to parachute out of a plane. So after some training and instruction, she finds herself in this small plane at 3,000 feet. The door is opened and fear grips her, she can’t breathe properly, like someone is standing on her chest. The instructor tells her to move to the door, her knees were shaking but she edged closer to that door and looked down at the tiny villages and fields below. “Not everyone can do this, said the instructor. Janett felt that could not breathe at all, “Jump, said the instructor, “Go ahead, Jump!. So with a quick prayer she stepped out of the plane. As she fell she counted, one, two, three and pulled the cord on her chute, with a jerk the parachute opened slowing her fall. “Thank God, Thank you, she shouted. She pulled on her cords, moving to where she was meant to land and landed with a thud, rolling and then pulling her chute to her. Janett was not injured, no scratches, no bruises, no broken bones. Janett says about this time, she learnt that: “Without fear, there is no courage. Courage is about being very afraid of something and facing it. All of us are fearful, what is it that creates fear in your life? Some of the most common include, death, a fear of heights, fear of the unknown, fear of confined spaces, fear of the dark, fear of lightning and thunder, fear of snakes and spiders, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of loneliness, fear of pain, fear of losing your freedom. I am quite sure you could add to this list; but how do you find the courage to go on with your plans, to overcome those fears? God’s Word speaks about fear in Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; so do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand. Our God understands that we face those moments when you find it hard to “breathe properly, like someone is standing on our chest? Through faith in Jesus, we can find the courage to overcome our fears. Every Sunday morning our church family gathers at 9.30am in order to understand how we can live our lives, free from fear, knowing that God loves and protects us. Why not come and join us, you are most welcome. God bless, Lyndon Rumsey (Article submitted and written by)

Mulgoa Road Upgrade Minister for Roads Duncan Gay and Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres recently announced a re-elected Baird Government would commit $5 million to get the widening of Mulgoa Road ‘shovel ready.’ Mr Gay and Mr Ayres were joined on site by Member for Mulgoa Tanya Davies and Liberal Candidate for Londonderry Bernard Bratusa. “We have delivered record roads funding to Western and South Western Sydney and the message is, there is much more to come,” Mr Gay said. “Mulgoa Road runs right through the centre of Penrith, it’s a critical corridor for the Penrith community and right now it’s under pressure. “Penrith CBD is thriving and we are building infrastructure to make sure it has a successful future.” “This $5 million commitment is a huge win for Penrith and means we can get the widening of Mulgoa Road shovel ready,” Mr Ayres said. “The road would be widened from Andrews Road to Glenmore Park and delivered in four stages in consultation with the community. “Right now, Mulgoa Road is a major frustration for road users with congestion occurring on the partly two lane road between Penrith CBD, the M4 motorway and new developments including Glenmore Park. “This is one road project our community has been desperately waiting for and I’m so pleased the Baird Government is committed to delivering it,” Mr Ayres said. “The funding would enable the Baird Government to plan the upgrade to complement the Jane Street and High Street intersection and railway underpass which is currently being developed,” Ms Davies said.

“The package of work would include road widening, improving intersections and improving turn lanes to key roads along the Mulgoa Road corridor. “A construction plan will be provided to the community for feedback by the end of this year. “The upgrade of Mulgoa Road will be a major relief for residents who live south of the M4 and need to access the Penrith CBD and surrounds.” “This is another example of the Baird Government’s commitment to Western Sydney and builds on the upgrade of the Northern Road and commitment to deliver Werrington Arterial,” Mr Bratusa said. “Only a Baird Government is committed to and has the funding capacity to deliver the upgrade of Mulgoa Road,” Mr Ayres said.

PARENTS CORNER Article by: Narelle Smith (Family Worker) NepeanStudent-Wellbeing Worker – Mulgoa Public School Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services Ph: 0409 986 121 Centre: 4721 8520 Blog: http://handsheartsminds.wordpress.com

Do you know a child living in a home where there is a lot of yelling and swearing, throwing things, pushing or hitting? This is called family violence. However, family violence is much more than physical abuse. It also includes: Emotional abuse (such as manipulation, isolation, put-downs, mind games); Financial abuse (withholding money to buy groceries, and other essential items); Sexual abuse; Threats of violence and revenge; Property damage, smashing belongings; Harming pets. Witnessing family violence can be very upsetting and frightening for children. These children live in a “climate of fear”. Family violence is an abuse of the intimate, trusting and safe relationship that a family should provide. 1 in 4 families in Australia experiences family violence. Apart from the emotional impact on individuals, families, and communities, family violence costs the Australian economy $13 billion per year. Many children who witness family violence have been found to have higher levels of behavioural and emotional problems than children who live in a safe and nurturing home. While most children escape without physical injury they may bear emotional scars which in many cases can last a lifetime. They may have poor physical and mental health as adults and their early experience of living with violence may influence the relationships and lifestyles they choose as adults. Violence at home can make a child feel really sad, angry, helpless and confused. Often children think they have done something to cause the violence in their family. Children living with family violence spend a lot of time and energy worrying and feeling anxious about things that they shouldn’t need to. Children should be free to spend their time and energy on growing, playing, learning, feeling safe and loved, and exploring relationships. Children need: • Protection from physical, emotional, sexual, and verbal abuse • To know that bullying, abuse, and violence is not OK • To know that other children have had similar experiences • Encouragement to talk about their feelings and worries • Reassurance that it is not their fault • Support from a trusted adult • Good role models for managing anger and solving problems • Support with schooling • Professional help for behavioural and emotional problems • To know where they can get help in an emergency. Support for the abused parent can improve the parent’s capacity to protect his/her children. Family violence is just plain wrong. There are no possible reasons that can justify one partner being abusive towards another partner or a parent being abusive to a child. Often, we don’t know what to do to help children and families in our neighbourhoods and communities. If you hear family violence going on in a home near to you, the first thing you can do is call the Police. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you can ring the Domestic Violence Line for help on 1800 656 463. The Domestic Violence Line is a statewide free-call number and is available 24 hours, seven days a week. It is time for both men and women to say “enough” – violence is never OK.

Our Fundraising Gurus have been at it again - this time Jody put in an application for an equipment grant to Glencore who help Community Clubs out with funding for specific equipment needs. Just before Christmas we received the great news that we had been successful in receiving a $7,500 grant to purchase a new Line Marker, Ride On Mower and a large Marquee to accommodate athletes and families at Carnivals such as Zone, Region, etc. Barry has been in his element on the mower and the track is looking great. Our new Marquee had it’s first work out at our Christmas Party and we are expecting delivery of the Line Marker soon. Warradale Little A’s would like to say a HUGE thank you to Glencore for their kind support, as a small Club it is very difficult to try and come up with funding for projects such as these. It’s just fantastic to be able to purchase this much needed equipment which will certainly be put to good use by both athletes and our groundsmen, making upkeep of our grounds so much easier!!

The Grief of Miscarriage The inconsiderate things people say after a Miscarriage. Miscarriage is a difficult grief to deal with. Many clients have told me the inconsiderate comments said to them following a miscarriage, such as, “At least you know you can fall pregnant and “It’s great that you didn’t get too far into your pregnancy. What you can do after a miscarriage: Share your story As 1 in 4 pregnancies result in miscarriage, there are a lot more women out there to share your story with and they with you. Healing Talking about your grief helps you to heal and deal with it. Understanding your own grief and what you need to do will help you cope with your “New Normal. Create support Share your story, be vulnerable and connect with others who have suffered a miscarriage. This will help create a positive, supportive community. Normalising grief You can help the general community to understand what grief after miscarriage is like. People often believe that you shouldn’t be grieving because it wasn’t a baby yet. Be sure to share your story with others Cait’s passion is to help people who have suffered loss. As a specialist in her field she has helped people to move through their unresolved grief, to feel less isolated and alone. Using her training Cait seeks to empower her clients to breakthrough and rediscover the joys of a full and rewarding life. To help them come to terms with their “New Life without their loved one. Cait offers grief, loss and bereavement counselling for adults, adolescents, children and families in the Penrith CBD. Pop over to Cait’s website www. indigotherapies.com.au or phone Cait on 0434 865 429.

How Can You Beat Today’s Biggest Health Problems? An unhealthy lifestyle is the common contributor to today’s biggest health problems. Today, chronic conditions such as stroke, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and obesity are our biggest killers. Here are 3 top recommendations to keep your heart, mind and body in optimal health! 1. Healthy Diet – Well that’s no surprise! But you really do need to quit the junk and fast food. Your heart, brain and overall health are harmed by such foods high in sugars, trans fats, additives and salt. There's no getting around it. Replace them with real foods like fruits, vegetables, fish, nuts, olive oil eg the Mediterranean diet. 2. Daily Exercise – You brush your teeth every day and exercise is equally as important. Turn off the TV and computer and take a 30 minute walk, jog, swim, exercise or yoga class. You don’t have to go overboard - even 10 minutes here and there during the day counts. Just get moving! 3. Weight Loss – Studies show that too much body weight puts your health at greater risk. When you take in more calories than you burn, you put on weight. When your body is deprived of important vitamins and minerals, you become deficient in the nutrients essential for effective weight loss. It’s that simple! Getting back to your ideal body weight through healthy eating and exercise will help you avoid serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, obesity and stroke.

Weight? Are you always tired & bloated? Lose the weight & feel alive! Women of the Nepean are changing the way WE GUARENTEE that... they think about their health & enjoying life again! Get the support of a passionate & experienced local practitioner & join forces with other ladies in your quest to feel great again! “This program is different - it’s taught me how to take control of my own health. I didn’t know if I could do it but I have now lost 9.6kgs! Linda Sartori, Silverdale

The Rotary Club of Wallacia The Rotary Club of Wallacia – Mulgoa Valley recently added two new members into their club. Gavin Douglas and Geoffrey Halliburton. Gavin grew up in the area attending Mulgoa Public School and St Paul’s Grammar School. Gavin’s journey began with Rotary as an exchange student in 2003. He was sponsored by this very club and lived in France for 12 months. Upon returning to Australia he spent 2 years with Springwood Rotaract Club before moving to Burwood Rotaract when he moved to Sydney to live. In 2009 Gavin became a charter member of the Rotary Club of Revesby Wirrimbirra. To focus on his full time studies, Gavin took a break from Rotary for the past 2 years. Having completed his studies he would like to spend time giving back to the community where he grew up. He is a third generation Rotarian and respects the contribution the organisation puts into their local community and worthwhile causes. Geoff has always been community minded having attended Cubs and Scouts as a young man. He has been a member of the FIAT Car Club since 1996 after growing up in a family passionate about ‘their Fiat’s’. Geoff has served on the board of the Car Club as Assistant Treasurer, Events Coordinator and Assistant Competitions Coordinator. Geoff has enjoyed meeting the members of Wallacia and expressed an interest in joining the Club to support the community through fundraising activities. In their thirties Gavin & Geoff have bought a younger feel to the club and it is hoped they will encourage other young who want to give back to their community to do the same. If you wish to attend one of our meetings and meet our members, please call Jan on 0428289919.

PAWS A WHILE With Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital 377 Wentworth Rd, Orchard Hills Ph: 4736 2027

Chocolate Dangers at Easter Time We all know Easter is a fun time spent with family and chocolate...lots and lots of delicious chocolate! Easter is a great time for the human members of the family, but the infamous Easter egg hunt can end in tragedy for our four legged friends. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which when ingested by a dog or cat, causes vomiting, diarrhoea, hyperactivity, increased heart rate, restlessness, muscle twitching, increased urination, excessive panting and if left untreated can be rapidly fatal. If your dog does accidentally eat some chocolate it is vitally important that they are seen within 30 minutes to an hour by your local veterinarian. The veterinarian will give an injection to make your pet vomit, which removes most of the toxins from the body. Sometimes, your pet will be hospitalised, where intravenous fluids may be used, an enema or stomach pump may be required, and we may also need to use muscles relaxants and activated charcoal. There are a few simple precautions you can take to ensure that your pet has a safe Easter: • Hide your Easter eggs in areas which cannot be accessed by your pet. • Ensure small children do not give your pet any chocolate. • Ensure all chocolate is kept out of reach from your pets. Dogs have a good sense of smell and will find chocolate in kid’s schoolbags! • Distract your pet with their favourite treats while chocolate is around.

entries will be displayed on the walls of the veterinary hospital. You can download the entry form from our website www. orchardhillsvet.com.au, Facebook page or pop into the veterinary hospital and pick up a copy. Post your entries to Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital, 377 Wentworth Road, Orchard Hills, NSW 2748, or drop them in at the veterinary hospital. All entries must be received by 7pm on Wednesday 1st April 2015. Please ensure your full contact details (name, address, phone number, email) are on the back of the entry form or envelope. Winners will be drawn and notified at 10am on Thursday 2nd April 2015. Check out our website for more information. www. orchardhillsvet.com.au or join us on Facebook. We look forward to meeting you and your pets at Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital, and please feel free to pop in anytime and meet the team.

MONEY MATTERS PARENTS CORNER With David & Leonie Jackson - Great Aussie Dream P: 4733 8592 E: admin@gad.com.au

Rate Cut Fever – But will you Benefit? The Reserve Bank has reduced the cash rate to its lowest level in over 60 years and the banks rapidly passed on the cut in full, with one of the majors actually reducing their rate by more than the cut. And it wasn’t only the variable rates the fell, fixed rates also tumbled indicating that the banks think that we are in for a prolonged period of low rates. On top of this, the competition between the banks is such that never seen before discounts and “under the table” rates are being offered to attract new clients. There has never been a better time to review your loan to see what’s on offer. Reducing the rate on a $350,000 loan by just 0.50% will save you over $100 per month, or reduce the term of your loan by nearly three and a half years. At Great Aussie Dream we will review your current loan free of charge and with no obligation. If you decide to refinance we will take care of all of the paperwork making the process simple and stress free. Great Aussie Dream is your local Mortgage Broker and is the most awarded in Australia, so why trust anyone else? Call us today on 4733 8592.

We Love Hearing from our Readers!

Letter to the Editor Firstly thank you for the Mulgoa Valley Gazette which I always enjoy reading. In February 2015 issue, p7, I read with interest ‘Warragamba Anzac Day Centenary Commemoration’. I would like to bring to your attention the third paragraph ‘The two townships did not exist at that time’. This is incorrect. Silverdale All Saints Church was built in 1906 and dedicated by the then Archbishop of Sydney, Dr Saumarez Smith on 11th September, 1906. The Rector at the time was Reverend E.M. Wilton B.A. There are many many stories of how Silverdale got it’s name. I believe in 1891 Lloyd Williams petitions the Government to have the name changed from Mulgoa Forest to Silverdale, and this was officially agreed to. I have not researched Warragamba, only All Saints Silverdale over the years. Kind Regards, Mrs Margaret Jenkins

Continued from pg. 1.

Iconic Warragamba Dam Wall to Re-Open For Public Access from March Mr Humphries said that when the dam wall reopens, visitors will also be able to access a terraced area below the dam to see a close view of the downstream face of the dam wall. “The views from the terraced area adjacent to the dam offer the chance for visitors to gain a better understanding of the scale of this magnificent piece of infrastructure” he said. “Warragamba is an easy drive from Sydney and is an ideal location for a family picnic and for sightseeing. “About 100,000 people visit Warragamba Dam each year – taking advantage of the fantastic picnic facilities and breathtaking views from around the Warragamba Dam Visitor Centre. “Providing greater public access to the Warragamba Dam wall will give people yet another reason to spend the day in this fantastic part of western Sydney.” Visitors to the dam during the week are still able to enjoy spectacular views of the dam from viewing platforms on the site, as well as the interactive Water for Life exhibition at the Warragamba Dam Visitor Centre.
