Like so many women, she has a history of being very judgemental of herself and self-conscious about her body which has affected her mental health.Shehated going to gym and wasted a lot of money and time getting there and back again and felt uninspired to continue.
“The hardest part is getting out of bed, but I feel so much better about myself and my body now,” said Kate. “As the workouts are all online, I can choose a time and workout that suits my lifestyle. I feel like I can handle everyday stresses with ease and grace and since ditching my scales and taking onboard all the advice from Kate and her team, I now have body confidence and feel lighter and carefree”.

During the COVID lockdown, her mental health deteriorated as her exercise options were limited to walking the dog which didn’t satisfy her desire to lift her mood by getting active. She wasn’t happy with herself and knew she had to rejig her mojo so she could be present and supportive of her family and keep up to speed with her busy job as a Project Officer for a government agency.
Since discovering Kate Ivey Fitness and DediKate a year ago, she has turned her life around and now gets up early five days a week to exercise while her family are still asleep.
Kate and her husband Sebastien have three children aged 12, 9 and 6 and they are also benefitting from her new lease of life as she has started to incorporate healthier eating choices into the family meals with less processed foods and more fresh fruit and vegetables.
“I would encourage anyone who needs help with their motivation to enrol in a DediKate program - it’s made a huge difference to me,” she said.

The opening of the new primary school in Gregory Hills has been brought forward, with the school now scheduled to be ready for Day 1 Term 1 2023.
The NSW Government is investing $8.6 billion in school infrastructure over the next four years, continuing its program to deliver 160 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This builds on the more than $9.1 billion invested in projects delivered since 2017, a program of $17.7 billion in public education infrastructure.

The NSW Government is delivering a new primary school for the Gregory Hills community to support the growing area and meet local enrolment demand. Temporary facilities will be established to accommodate students and staff, as work to deliver the multi-million dollar school continues.
Talk to your child about safety, where they feel safe, with whom they feel safe and what it feels like to be safe. Discuss ‘early warning signs’ (how their body feels) and encourage them to trust their feelings and instincts.
The first thing to know is that open communication is more about how you are with your child than the words you use. It’s important that you remain calm during even the most difficult conversations. Big adult emotions can overwhelm children and cause them to ‘shut down’.
“I would like to thank the community for their continued interest, commitment and strong advocacy”.
“The school’s name, uniform and logo will be developed in consultation with the Gregory Hills community”.

Talking to Children About Safety
In addition to staying calm, approach your child with curiosity and non-judgment. You may feel temptation to lecture but check this urge at the door. During a hard time, would you confide in someone who only points out your faults? Probably not! If children feel judged, they are less likely to come to you with their struggles again. Choose the time and place carefully. A neutral space such as the living room can be ideal. Pick a time when you are not too busy to listen. For some children, they feel more comfortable talking about their emotions during parallel activities like a taking a drive in the car or going for a walk.
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said that the Department of Education would share more information about the new school and how to enrol in the coming weeks.

The Department of Education will use a provisional intake area for the new school which will allow parents to enrol their children for the start of Term 1 2023.
The temporary school will be built within the site of the new primary school in Gregory Hills on Gregory Hills Drive (surrounded by Wallarah Circuit and Long Reef Circuit), subject to planning approval.
Early works, including site investigations on the permanent school facilities, is expected to start late this year, pending planning approval.
Children are safest when they are listened to, respected, and believed by the adults around them. There are ways you can create a safe space for your child to share their concerns and worries with you.
Focus on listening, rather than responding. Being listened to helps children explore their feelings, put ideas into words, brainstorm solutions to their own problems and develop selfconfidence. Your full focus makes them feel respected and helps them know that their thoughts and feelings matter. Be open to talking about all feelings – joy, sadness, fear, anger, worry. Separate behaviour from emotion. Remember: “all feelings are OK, but not all behaviours are OK”. Children build their emotion vocabulary from the adults around them.
Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said he was pleased that the new school will open its doors sooner than initially anticipated.“I’mexcited that we will have a new, operational school for the community of Gregory Hills from the start of 2023. It is great news for local families,” Mr Sidgreaves said.
National Child Protection Week (4-10 September) is all about the ways that we can all work together to build communities that support children and families. Visit www. napcan.org.au to find out more.
National Child Protection Week:
“Parents will shortly be invited to start enrolling their children for 2023, from Kindergarten to Year 6.
“We have appointed an acting Principal to begin preparations for the new school while recruitment for a Principal and staff progresses later in Term 3,” Ms Mitchell said.

It has been more than 20 years since the previous Commencement Service, and marks the first formal service at St John’s to be led by Right Rev. Peter Lin, Bishop of Sydney’s South Western Region. More than 130 people attended the service, including Rev. Stedman’s parents and parishioners from his previous church in Drummoyne. Welcoming addresses were delivered by Heads of Oran Park and Macarthur Anglican Schools, ministers from other local churches and Councillor, Eva Campbell.

Matt Stedman and wife, Emily are parents of four who integrate their faith into family and community life. Rev. Matt began his ministry by preaching four sermons on the book of Jonah at the three services each Sunday. The commencement service and podcasts of Matt’s sermons can be accessed on the St John’s website.
Drawing on Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (Ch. 4:1-16), the Bishop reminded the congregation that their new rector is ‘a gift’ whose primary role is to equip his people for works of service through teaching and guiding their understanding of the Bible. To symbolise this, he attached a bright red ribbon bauble to the new rector’s white surplice.

If you’ve got small children, the day can seem a bit like a marathon. From early morning waking or from multiple interruptions through the night, each new day seems to start full of demands and plans. I’m personally a long way from that season of parenting, but I was struck at the time by a saying that seems to do the rounds, “the days are long, but the years are short”. When my first was born, I was wrapped in how small she was and followed every stage of development closely. Of course, as new parents we carefully sterilised the bottle tops, the dummy, the toys the… well pretty much everything that touched the ground! There was a mixture of awe and fear at how vulnerable this precious new one felt. Then in God’s goodness, we were blessed with a second and suddenly, I realised how quickly that first phase had passed. Each day *was* long but they had passed in a flash. Now she was walking and here was another tiny new member of our household. Where had the time gone? Parenting small kids can be tough. There can be depression, isolation, distance from relatives who may be overseas and that’s before we fold in the terrible costs of the pandemic. At NewLife, we see that it’s carers as much as kids who can benefit from getting out of the house. That’s why we run PlayTime. Sure, PlayTime is great for kids from 0-5 years old; the pre-school years. But it’s also great for mums, dads, and grandparent carers to get out and have a chat as the kids do craft, listen to a story, or play under the parachute.
The monthly meetings of Oran Park Probus Club are held on the first Tuesday of every month, except November. This date was changed to avoid any conflict with members’ arrangements for Melbourne Cup Day. There is no meeting in January.
Part of the Management Committee’s role is to attract new members to join the Club. Last month, Oran Park Probus Club held a Membership Drive Stall at Oran Park Podium. Our members handed out Probus leaflets and spoke to many of the ‘senior’ shoppers. We hope that some of these people will think seriously about the benefits of joining our Club.

“In their annual Social Justice Statement, Respect: Confronting Violence and Abuse, the Australian Catholic Bishops have spoken with a united voice of courage and conviction, as they highlight the extent of abuse throughout contemporary Australian society. They have placed this complex social reality at the heart of our community for intelligent consideration, prayerful reflection, and proactive discernment. With an appeal to the virtues of justice and solidarity, we are urged to take collective responsibility for shaping a culture of respect here, within our community, and beyond. The Social Justice Statement is challenging reading. We are called to listen to the vulnerable voices of victims and survivors of family and domestic violence, investigate up-to-date social research and consider the plethora of drivers and enablers of abuse across different sectors of society and our Church. We are also given a glimpse of the life-enhancing programmes available whose goals are to address systemic violence and abuse in its many guises”.
You can access the Statement at https://bit.ly/SJS22-23 If the content of the Statement raises issues or concerns for you, please refer to the ‘Getting Help’ page in the Statement for a list of support channels, or speak to a trusted friend, your GP, your parish priest, pastor, or another pastoral worker. This month Monica highlights the importance of child-safety in ‘Parents Corner’ given September plays host to National Child Safety week. While Pastor Stuart Starr focuses on an equally important theme 'Caring for the Carers'.Fathers Day is the first Sunday in September, a timely reminder to spend time with or reach out to the Fathers and Fatherly figures in our lives, and remember those taken too soon. Find a minute to reflect on the great moments.

As I compile the final touches of the September edition, I look out my window to notice it is a typical Winter’s day, cold, wet and blustery. Nothing at all like the weather we experienced only a week before. I can only hope, like everyone else, that better weather is around the corner as we turn the leaf into Spring.Ialways enjoy Spring, not only for the promise of wonderful weather, but the downward descent to Christmas. What’s not to love about gorgeous Spring days, socialising and the festive lead up to Christmas?
