Happy March! The luckiest month of the year! Now if you don’t like astrology, my letter is going to be a little boring. But if you love astrology, perfect! March is going to be a month of new beginnings because none of the planets are in retrograde (which is great for us, seniors who are awaiting college acceptances). A little life update: I got into my dream school! (Go Trojans, go Trojans). I was ecstatic when I opened my USC portal. Still, there are a lot more blessings to come! I wish all the seniors great luck in their college journey.

Remember, no matter what school you end up, you are going to find happiness. It’s scary thinking that in just a few months, Rafa and I will be graduating. It seems just like yesterday when we were working on some middle school project together. As always, thank you to everyone that helped with the newsletter. Great job editors and presidents for sending in the club recaps. Thank you to Kenya for the lovely graphics. Stay safe out there!

Happy March Butterflies! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe as always. Can you believe this month marks ONE WHOLE YEAR since this pandemic started. I would have hoped for a change by now, but it has been an honor serving you all as your 2020-2021 Lieutenant Governor. There is still one more Newsletter publication, but you will have a new LTG starting April 12, 2021.

CHANNEL ISLANDS Our school has been keeping it simple ,yet active, by participating in the Division Service Week especially with love letters and paper hugs! Our members also enjoyed meeting our division's new LTG during the Division's virtual baby shower, as well as attending the February DCM to write letters to elderly & essential workers. Additionally, several of our officers & members ended up applying for CNH District Awards for the deadline on 02/16 and we are extremely proud of how far they've come. Channel Islands looks forward to ending the month with elections for a new officer cabinet on 02/26.

OXNARD During the month of January, Buena has continued to be involved in division service events and club meetings. Our school will plan to attend Conclave and participate in our Ventura Kiwanis donation drive next week.

PACIFICA Throughout this past month, our members have been consistent with their hours and year long service activities, such as Charity Miles and Free Rice. We've accumulated a total of 3,400+ miles! In regards with other clubs, we collaborated with Oxnard Key Club to make dog toys for local animal shelters! We had a great time listening to music and talking. We plan on collaborating more with other clubs and to continue serving our community!

RIO MESA For the past month some of our active members participated in the division's service week this past week! Also, we are continuing to serve as many hours as we can by doing Charity Miles, The Pause For app, and technically the division's service events that are still happening. Our club is also helping with VC Lulac to help give out items for families that are in need in the Ventura County area on Thursday and Friday of this week. We are planning on doing fundraising events as well as other activities for our club and club elections. Our club is currently pretty inactive due to personal issues but we are trying our best to be back!

SANTA CLARA For the month of February, our club recap was that we continued our service project from January to making Love Letters to the Ventura County Agency of Aging to send support to older adults who feels alone in this pandemic. We also participated in the division service projects and events! Lastly, we did our first ever club meeting as Santa Clara where we introduced what the true meaning of key club is!

SANTA PAULA For the month of February, SPHS Key Club held a meeting on the 14th. Some important topics discussed in the meeting were elections for the next term. We plan on having officer elections next month and have informed members of the roles of each position and requirements. We also were very happy to inform our division that the next term LTG elect is Daniella Viorato. We are excited and very hopeful for the future under her leadership for the next term. Members also were notified about the February service week and we encouraged all to participate. Our members have also done a great job on Charity Miles and they have remained most active through the app.

VENTURA During the month of February, our club met on zoom to make Valentine’s Day cards for Ventura High School’s staff members. ASB makes valentines every year for the teachers, so we decided to express our thanks to the rest of the faculty, who do not get as much recognition. We also sent 25 Kiwanis dolls to a children’s hospital in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, we have continued using Charity Miles and have raised our club miles to a total of over 3,100 miles. Looking to the future, we are preparing to have our elections in March. At our next meeting (2/24) each of the current officers will give a presentation on his or her respective position and responsibilities. After learning about the different positions, we will allow members to decide which positions they would like to run for. On March 10th we will listen to candidates’ speeches and vote for next year’s board. In March we will also make gift baskets for Turning Point—a local homeless shelter.

Oxnard Kiwanis holds general meetings every first Thursday of the month to discuss upcoming service projects. Camarillo Kiwanis holds general meetings every Tuesday. DCM’s are every second Thursday! All members, especially officers are invited to attend a Kiwanis DCM. We encourage that your club’s cabinet attend Kiwanis DCM’s and keep in close contact with Kiwanis advisors so that they are able to sponsor any of your service events, such as when they helped fund our swag bags at this year’s Region Training Conference!

Favorite movie? Back to the Future 2 What are your academic goals for this quarter? To maintain straight A’s and increase my studying for AP Tests How do you feel about schools reopening on March 15th? I think it’s a good thing that schools will be reopening, especially since it will be a student-parent choice. Overall, it’s exciting and I’m looking forward to it.

Favorite movie? Howl’s Moving Castle What are your academic goals for this quarter? To get ahead in all my classes How do you feel about schools reopening on March 15th? I feel like it’s still too soon to open up. There are hundreds of new cases each week and most students do not have access to the vaccine, so it’s unsafe and irresponsible to open back up.

Favorite movie? The Princess Switch What are your academic goals for this quarter? To pass all of my tests How do you feel about schools reopening on March 15th? I don’t plan on going back to school because it’s not worth risking getting covid when I can get the same education while safe at home.

Favorite movie? The Matrix What are your academic goals for this quarter? To get less distracted while doing homework How do you feel about schools reopening on March 15th? I’m uncertain whether schools should reopen when so few of the students are vaccinated. Conditions are improving quickly, so I trust the district has our best interests at heart.

Tarot is the storybook of our life, the mirror to our soul, and the key to our inner wisdom. We can use tarot cards to connect to a spiritual lesson that can teach us more about ourselves. Since March is the month of luck, here are a few cards that symbolize good fortune.

The Ace of Pentacles stands for material abundance, wealth, money, and opportunity. While a great opportunity has or soon will present itself, it's up to you to strike while the iron is hot and cash in on it. If the Ace of Pentacles appears in the past position, it may indicate a financial opportunity that it's time to take seriously and go for. In the present or future positions, it means that the time is right to advance in your life and career and cash in on the opportunities that present themselves.

The Ace of Cups is an invitation and a great one! The five streams that pour over the sides of the chalice represent an overflowing of emotion, intuition, and love as well as the five senses. The cup itself represents you as a vassal, currently overflowing with love, light, and blessings that you have the ability to give out to those around you. By opening yourself up to the blessings of the universe, you, in turn, become a blessing to others. Whether it be new relationships, creativity, or love, allow yourself to stay open to the possibilities and prepare to watch them materialize.

In the Three of Cups, happiness flows through the essence of the scene as they enjoy a little wine, each other's company, and the food in their hands. It may be no surprise that seeing this card come up in a reading signifies a time of happiness and joy. Specifically, it may relate to the connection you enjoy with your closest friends and the way you all work together to lift each other up. The harvest aspect of the card can also indicate hard work coming to fruition and the power of working together to achieve a common objective.
