Pacifica Key Club members of Division 42 West have volunteered at a Strawberry Festival on May 21 and 22. This event was very exciting to volunteer in, especially for our members that enjoyed every little bit of it. It was here where we helped establish fun activities for the kids and adults, then seeing many smiles on the faces of the children who picked our members to have a face full of pie during the activities. ~Charles Abuan, Pacifica HS Key Club Editor

Pacifica High School Key Club then continued to volunteer at the Mandalay Beach on May 28. Despite the chilly weather our members continued to proceed and collect all signs of harmful trash on the beach, with the help of the Oxnard High School Key Club members. We all eventually pushed through in the end with bags full of trash that day.

Santa Paula Key Club is continuing their service and doing Many Meals throughout the month of May. Every Wednesday, Santa Paula Key Club members dedicate two hours to serving food to the homeless. Officers like our secretary Larry Renteria serve parts of the dish onto the container to later hand off to homeless people. Key Club has become such an essential crew to Many Meals that the main coordinator requested help throughout the summer. So Santa Paula Key Club officers created signup sheets for every Wednesday up until the middle of September for Key Club members to sign up. All Santa Paula Key Club members agree that serving meals to the homeless is a gratifying feeling. Keep on rocking Santa Paula Key Club!

May 6th brought Santa Paula a day full of rain, but the gloomy weather did not stop Santa Paula Key Club members from working hard at their bike trail. We had already done a cleanup for Earth Day, but Key Club members loved the event so much that we coordinated a second day to continue cleaning up. We contacted our city’s recreation activities director, Ed Mount, and set up a day to clean up our city. This time, we cleaned up the area owned by our Kiwanis group, a section that was more than two blocks! Key Club members picked up trash, raked leaves, and removed branches that could potentially harm pedestrians and it was all done in the rain! ~Jessenia Montiel, Santa Paula HS Key Club Editor

The month of May brings a close end to Santa Paula Key Club’s school year. So in celebration of ending another successful year, Santa Paula Key Club officers held a banquet on May 24. The entire lunch period was full of laughter as Santa Paula Key Club members ate the food they brought to the potluck. After all members had time to get their food, our advisor, Mr. Rico, along with our Key Club officers, handed out certificates to all Key Club members that completed their hours. Each certificate featured the member’s name and the amount of hours they completed for the 2015-2016 school year. A special recognition was given to the members with the most community service hours. Lastly, Mr. Rico handed out Key Club medals to our graduating officer which was our Key Club president for the 2015-2016 school year, Mia Bustillos. The banquet was a great way to show all members in Key Club of their successes this year.

Hello Arctic Foxes! 16

Wow summer came quick! With the school year over, we can really have an official break! Aren’t you excited to start summer with exciting events?! I sure am!

Many of us may be going out of city, state, or country but nonetheless, remember to serve your community by, for example, picking up trash, recycling, helping someone! I know many of you will just relax and enjoy the summer sun like me so let’s go to the beach and get a tan, just remember to have fun! Now, just to let you know that OTC is around the corner so be sure to look forward to that! Anyways, back to summer. I hope you all have a very exciting and eventful summer! School is starting in less than 3 months! I know, I know, school... Ugh, but at least we got a break! Now go out there and have some fun! Be safe and enjoy!
