Many Meals Many Meals is still going on throughout the summer. Students who have been attending will receive hours for this upcoming year. As the summer comes by and we reach our 390th week, Many Meals stands strong as we have our lovely president, Natasha Martinez, always attending and monitoring it. We hope to continue having this event go on until the school year starts again. ~Joshua Lara, Santa Paula HS Key Club Treasurer Power Plant Rally This public hearing was held on June 28 at Santa Paula's Boys and Girls Club. Key Club members attended this to protest against the plans of building a power plant here in town. A rally was held outside the building and the hearing started indoors at 6:30 PM. Attendees gathered to hear multiple workers from the community speak out against this plan. ~Joshua Lara, Santa Paula HS Key Club Treasurer 8

OTC Overview Attending this event was a great experience for all the members. Allowing each individual to focus on their roles and what skills they needed to work on. Each attendee had a great time as we interacted with a variety of people. With more knowledge about our own positions, we hope we are able to use those new skills to exceed our potential and help fundraise, help our community, and help our world. ~Joshua Lara, Santa Paula HS Key Club Treasurer

“This year's OTC was so much fun! Presenting and watching others present definitely taught me a lot about being a better club president, public speaker, and overall leader in my community. I also met so many friendly Arctic Foxes, Narwhals and Turtles. All in all, I really enjoyed the entire conference as it left me so much more excited for the term ahead of me! I look forward to next year's OTC!” Roselyn Romero, Channel Islands HS, Class of 2018

“This was my first OCT and I was really eager to experience all of the officer training. I learned the roles and tasks of a president and now I'm even more excited about this years term! “ Honey Hania, Rio Mesa HS, Class of 2017

My first OTC was a blast and it definitely helped prepare me for e upcoming term! I had tons of fun and met awesome new people.” Grace Nguyen, Oxnard HS, Class of 2019

Hello16Arctic Foxes! Summer is heating up! How are all of you handling the summer heat? I hope you all are trying to stay cool like me! Breaks come and go and by the month’s end, many of us may be in school! Though some may still be in summer, be prepared for the new year! However, those who are in school, be at your best! I know school is boring at the beginning and some may be taking naps in class or watching YouTube videos and whatnot but things go by fast! Trust me. You could be listening to lessons a week after school starts or even be taking quizzes or tests. I know it may seen harsh for some especially coming out of summer but it’s a call to wake up and accept that we’re resuming on our trip on the road to success! For those who attended this year’s OTC, we thank you for attending and hope you had the best time going to various workshops, learning new things, and even meeting new people! We have more things to look forward to this summer like this upcoming DCM! For those who is in school, best of luck for the upcoming year, and for those who are still in summer, be ready because summer goes by fast! Don’t trust me? Watch as you get into your classrooms listening to your teacher talk about the theory of evolution or equations you’ve never even heard of before. The point is, always be prepared for what’s coming but never forget to care, lead, and build character along the way! Chilling In Service, Noah Tyler T. Ratley Division News Editor, 2016-17 16
