Update

Aloha Arctic Foxes! It’s September arctic foxes! School has already started, sadly, and the sleepless nights have started! Not because of binge watching marathons, or late night talks, or even partying up, but because of homework and studying. Just remember to do your best and eat a healthy breakfast! Even a small granola bar if you’re in a rush! You’ll need it, trust me! With school beginning, club rush and first meetings will come by quick! Club officers, I hope that you all are already planning out your first meeting, but also be sure to publicize Key Club and Kiwanis during those times and be sure to get some new freshman to join the club as well! All are welcome, new and present! On another note, Region Training Conference and Fall Rally South is just around the corner! Be sure to start fundraising and getting members signed up! RTC and FRS will be here in moments!

ssue 5

I hope all of you either had or will have a great first day of school! Don’t forget to study hard and serve with all your heart! See you soon! Stay foxy!

Serving with pride,

Noah Tyler Ratley News Editor, 2014-18 3

In the Relay for Life event, we helped out at the silent auction where multiple teams submit various items like handmade pens and blankets to people whom currently have cancer. We made sure everything was organized and motivated them to never stop battling cancer. On the day of the Salsa Festival, we volunteered in one of the tents with people who were different ages and also went to different schools. We organized our own section cut tickets. We also sold chips with the tickets where everyone can try different types of salsa made from the community for the salsa contest. It was pretty amazing event where the community was brought together to celebrate culture, dance, and food! Submitted by: Austin Yen Oxnard High Club Editor

This month of July has been very productive for us, Pacifica High School’s Key Club, as we volunteered at events such as a beach cleanup, a festival, relay for life, and even helping out at a birthday party for a 93 year old woman with VC Caregivers. All of these opportunities are constantly reminded to us club members through text by our awesome president, Tiffany Nguyen. Every one of us always try to make it out to every event and testimonials for this month are Erika Fajilago and Nate Tagulao. As always, PHS Key Club is still thriving for the best!

During the month of July we had three volunteer events which were given to us via Remind from our breathtaking president, Delilah Juarez. She always reminds us about upcoming events, fundraisers and such. Some notable Spartans for the month of July were Israel Rivera and Brian Perez for giving it their all and putting in the effort at events. Even if summer break is coming to an end, RMHS Key Club is going strong! Submitted by: Jason Phan Rio Mesa High Club Editor

For the month of July, our club has participated in three different service opportunities. All of the information regarding these events have been distributed through Instagram, Twitter and Remind to ensure that our club members receive these important opportunities. Our members try their best to attend all of the service opportunities offered and a couple testimonials this month are Carla Reyes and Kelvin Santacruz. Although summer is coming to an end, our club president, Shiela Valerio continues to present us with various volunteer opportunities.

On July 22nd , several of the Santa Paula Key Club officers and members attended the July DCM. By far, this was one of the most entertaining DCM’s we have gone to. The games were very interesting and very fun to watch. Josh Barba, Adrian Cancino, and I participated in the Tug of War game, receiving the second place medal sadly. Shortly after we participated in a balloon toss, which was very suspenseful for the people who made it until the end. For the last game, Josh and Adrian took part in the obstacle course/race, which created lots of laughter from the spectators. Throughout July, Santa Paula Key Club is continuing to volunteer at our local Many Meals every Wednesday from 4-6pm. It is always very great to give back to those less fortunate and take part in helping our community. On July 26 th , when the picture was taken, the meal included taco salad without meat. Not only did the people receive meals, but they were also given sweets that were donated from the community. It is such a heartwarming feeling to volunteer at Many Meals every Wednesday. On July 30th , all of the Santa Paula Key Club officers and four members attended the Oxnard Salsa Festival from 3-7. The staff at the Oxnard Salsa Festival took us in with open arms and quickly put us to work! Some of the jobs that the volunteer service entailed were handing out brochures, giving out salsa, making kits that consisted of 10 tickets that enabled them to try salsas and tortilla chips, and cleaning tables. The Oxnard Salsa Festival had such a positive vibe to it, since there was live music playing, families having a great time, and great salsa! We are for sure open to serving at the Oxnard Salsa Festival next year!
