Banana Festival Key Club members of Division 42 West have volunteered in the 2016 Banana festival on September 24 at Port of Hueneme, here our members worked in a morning shift in which their jobs were to assist all shuttles to their destinations for their spots in the banana festivals and also help others to set up to better prepare themselves for the start of the event, as result of satisfied owners of shuttles and the staff members of the events our key club members were grateful to have helped in the wonderful Banana Festival. Article submitted by: Charles Abuan, Pacifica HS Editor Mandalay Beach Clean Up On Saturday October 8th, Oxnard High School's Key Club hosted their first volunteer project of the 2016-2017 school year. At a local beach, Mandalay, OHS' key clubbers met up to pick up trash from 9 am to 11 am. An estimate of twenty members showed up, a majority being newcomers. Overall, the service project went well as several bags of trash were filled up at the end. Article submitted by: Malia Vallender, Oxnard HS Editor SPHS’s First Meeting Santa Paula Key Club kicks off the new school year September 6th was a big day for Santa Paula High School Key Club. We kicked off the new school year with our first Key Club meeting. The new room, which is much larger than the room we used last year, was filled with new and returning members. Our new president, 8

Natasha Martinez, led the meeting and introduced the class officers and the two division officers, Chris Magana and Regina Hernandez. Key Club members were informed of how Key Club functions and we're even quizzed on their Division information. So far we’re off at a great start with over a hundred members present. Article submitted by: Mireille Vargas, Santa Paula HS Editor Santa Paula Continues With Many Meals Santa Paula Key Club is still going strong at Many Meals. Key Club members were present all summer long, but now that the school year has started our attendance is booming. Preparing cooked meals for the homeless is such an eye opening experience in which Santa Paula Key Club officers are happy to have more members exposed to it. Members see how two hours of their day can make a big difference in delivering hundreds of meals to the homeless and less fortunate in Santa Paula.
Article submitted by: Mireille Vargas, Santa Paula HS Editor Santa Paula Continues With Many Meals Santa Paula Key Club treasurer, Josh Lara, joined the rest of Division 42 W at September’s DCM. He represented Santa Paula at Channel Islands High School and participated in the pie contest. He enjoyed seeing what other Key Club groups are doing and getting to know them. It was great that we could go to the DCM! Article submitted by: Mireille Vargas, Santa Paula HS Editor 9

What’s Chillin’ Foxes!? 20
Can you believe that it’s November already? I surely can’t! This is a perfect time to look back on what you’ve done. A single service event or having a nice conversation with your fellow Key Clubber becomes a moment to remember. From the recent RTC to this upcoming Fall Rally, the memories keeps on piling up! I hope all of you are racking up those memories into a chest that you could bury and dig up in the future and recall all the amazing things you did the within the first half of our Key club journey in the term! While taking a quick look back, ask yourself, what have you done by joining this wonderful club and what have you done to impact your community? I may not be speaking for myself but what I have gained throughout this journey is the leadership skills and the wonderful feeling that I’ve helped someone in my community. These feelings transform into actions that are life changing. From helping a kid be safe while riding a bike to eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus from the earth. There are many things to thank and too look forward to in the future! I cannot emphasize how busy this month could be for some of you but if you do have free time, why not volunteer at the local library, store, or even just help a person. Do what ever you can and make the rest of the year great! As I always say, stay foxy! Chilling in Service, Noah Tyler Ratley 20 Division News Editor 20
