Hiya D42W! Can you feel the cozy season nearing? It’s time to start layering and getting used to that cold breeze in the air. I don’t know about you, but for me this is the best time of the year. School has picked up, but the holidays makeup for any stress. This school year’s first quarter is coming to an end soon… I wish everyone good luck on finishing off strong, I know I need it :’). Remember to start studying for finals early on and take breaks! Grades don’t dictate your worth, make sure to prioritize your health over any classes. Make sure to check out our last few pages for some suggestions to help you get your spooky on >:). Happy Halloween everybody <3
Hey Division 42 West! It’s spooky season time! AHHHHHHHHH \0o0/ It’s the almost the end of 2021, can you believe that? This year went by so fast. Did you make any goals for this year, and how far along are you on those goals? This time of the year has always been my favorite part of the year because of all of the holidays and break from school. Speaking of school, how is it going so far. The transition from online classes to in person classes has not been smooth for me. If it is the same for y’all make sure to always take a break! Sometimes it’s healthy to take a break and take time for yourself. Don’t forget to stay safe! Happy Holidays Butterflies!

Buena’s Key Club just recently had their club day in which they received several new members sign ups which is a goal that has been this year. The members of our club has increased by a significant amount. We have advertised our club previously in the schools morning announcements which most likely boosted the amount of members. Other plans to increase the amount of members would include hanging colorful posters around campus to appeal to a variety of students who work to help the community. Tomorrow, we’ll have our first official club meeting including the officers and new members in which we’ll provide delicious goods such as pizza to welcome our new members and guests. This event will take place in a different room on campus since a new advisor volunteered to sponsor Buena’s Key Club.
After a long time of no in person school and online meetings Channel Islands Key Club finally has had its first meeting in person meeting! With a great outcome for our first meeting our members were informed of all of what’s happening and what Key Club is about. During the meeting new and old information was presented to our members. This year Channel Islands Key Club hopes to continue the Channel Islands legacy and participate and create more service projects for our members. We hope this year to recruit more people for the club for an even stronger and great club.
For September, Oxnard Key Club held a school supplies drive. We held a supplies drive to provide the help and support our peers may need. Our school also held a club fair to introduce all of the clubs on our campus. We had many students come to our table and we very interested in Key Club. We also had the chance for a club fundraiser during that same week and was able to fundraise more than $100 selling corn in a cup! We also continued our ongoing projects: Charity Miles and Pause For. Shout out to the members that have continuously contributed to Charity Miles -we've reached over 19,000 miles!
Pacifica is starting to plan in-person meetings that are coming up towards the end of September! With a week-long club rush and the school news show giving PHS Key Club the opportunity to publicize the club and obtain new members, we have started to prepare for ideas no longer through a screen. With school and other volunteering events opening up, we are able to host meetings, fundraisers and service events IN PERSON! Although that is all fun for the school, not only members can see the club as an individual high school, but they can also become exposed to the divisions, districts and regions that the vast club proudly offers. Can’t wait!
This month the Rio Mesa High School Key Club finally got going with over 150 sign ups at club rush! Members of the club participated in multiple community service events such as making dog toys out of old shirts for the Camarillo Animal Shelter, and partnering with Letters for Rose to make notes for the elderly. In the upcoming months, the members of our club plan to volunteer at a Halloween Festival, Christmas Parade, Beach-clean ups and more!

On September 25th we had our annual Region Training Conference with Division 42 East and Division 24/29. This year’s theme was arts & craft theme! Due to safety measures we had the conference on Zoom this year, but it was still full of fun! After, we also had our DCM with Division 42E.
Oxnard Key Club has been doing a little bit of everything, participating on the on-going service projects like Charity Miles, and Pause For. We have also been doing individual service projects, like school supply drives, beach clean-ups, and dog toys. Some milestones I would like to talk about are hours, We have over 1,000 hours as a club, which I am very proud about. Some goals for the rest of the term are to get our DCM attendees up and our service up even more. Oxnard Key Club has an amazing future ahead of themselves!
During the conference, our members learn more about Key Club, managing stress, and college applications for those planning to go to college. Many of our members and officers attend Thank you to those that attended!
