Hello! My name is Tracy Hoang, Pacifica High School’s club secretary and one of D42W’s executive assistants. Even though I’ve only been in key club for one full term, I’m very devoted to the club and everything it stands for. When I’m not volunteering or procrastinating on homework, I play various sports for my school such as tennis and track. This year, I’m looking forward to meeting new people, volunteering as much as I can, and learning how to become a better leader to benefit my community.

2019

GO OUTDOORS

What's chillin Arctic Foxes? Summer is finally here! Which means its the time to go outside and get off your electronics for the day! :0) For the month of July, let's encourage key clubbers to go outside and be active around the community, whether that be a beach clean up or service event, let's strive to be proactive and live a healthier lifestyle!

Fundraising Ideas - summer picnic

Charge a small price, grill hot dogs or burgers, and plan fun and activities at your local park!

- local car wash

Find an open park, school, or parking lot where you can wash cars. Then gather all of the supplies such as sponges, car soap, rags, and water. A car wash is much more ecofriendly than a gas station war wash!

Previous Events: Strawberry Festival Upcoming Events: Best Day at The Beach (helping special needs children at the beach) Ventura Greek Festival

The month of May wasn’t a particularly busy one, in regards to service events. We had planned to help out at the Strawberry Gleam event, but were unable to do so due to people being busy (considering this month is AP and IB exam season). However, Spartans were able to help out at the Strawberry Festival! Students took one of two shifts, either May 18 or 19 (though there were some who volunteered during both days) and were placed in different booths. As for June, we’ll do our best to find and attend more community service events!

Previous Events: Strawberry Festival End of the Year banquet Senior Night Upcoming Events: Officer Training Conference The month of May for Channel Islands High School was truly momentous and productive as it finalized Key Club’s year of 2018-2019. On May 11th at Ventura ARC, our cabinet of the next year and other significant members attended the end of the year banquet, Enchanted Garden of Service, in order to commemorate and acknowledge the end of a memorable term. Not only that on May 18th and May 19th, but members in our club also volunteered at Oxnard’s 36th annual Strawberry Festival; on those specified dates, members, along with volunteers from other high schools, welcomed and handed out pamphlets to arriving guests throughout two shifts each day. Also at night on May 23rd, our Key Club’s President and Vice President honored our dedicated and graduating seniors at this year’s Senior Night by certifying their membership through certificate awards. Overall, this month of May was remarkable, to say the least, and our Key Club will continue to strive next month with more events and service activities to consider.

In the month of May, Oxnard has served a grand total of 108 hours. Members were kept busy with a new service project each week and with a variety of volunteer events. Oxnard Key Club has successfully reached out to the Kiwanis of Oxnard and the two clubs are now serving together. Key Club President Rafael Apodaca and Kiwanis President Tina Marie Martinez have been in communication and continue to plan joint events together. The most attended event was the Strawberry Festival where members worked the strawberry shortcake and souvenir booths. Members are getting more involved and the new cabinet has made the transition very smooth. We are very excited for the month of June because we have many more events and fundraisers planned.
