VINCENTS’S LETTER A monthly message from your Lieutenant Governor

What’s poppin, D04E? I hope you’re doing well during this month, especially with school starting up again. I’ve been definitely looking at all of my college applications and school work while trying to also manage my Key Club duties and to be frank, it’s been tough! As tiring as it is to go to school, make sure that you continue to find new ways to support key Club! Stay updated on Key Club News by looking at the CNH Instagram. I’m so excited to see new Key Club members attending events. Make sure to throw Key Club’s name around at your school, whether it’s through Zoom chat, or maybe you use a virtual background that promotes Key Club. Everything counts! Don’t forget to buy a 2020-2021 Key Club Shirt, and look out for sticker designs that you can purchase to put on your Hydroflask or your laptop! With that, I hope you enjoy your month. Although the summer has ended, look out for Spring Rally, which will happen right after DCON! There are so many events and activities that you can participate in regardless of our current pandemic. Don’t lose hope in Key Club, because we will continue to be there for you. Swimming into Service, Vincent Vu

AMBER’S LETTER A monthly message from your Division News Editor

Hey, everyone! Here’s another newsletter for the month of September! I believe most of you all should be back in school by now, and even though we still have to experience online schooling, I hope that everyone is doing okay and adapting to the new changes. You guys got this! I also wanted to remind all of you that we still have a couple service events that are still going on, and through them, you can easily rack up hours and help the division reach our goal of 5,500 hours! To name a few, we still have Color A Smile and FreeRice. Thank you to all the clubs who have been doing their best despite the ongoing pandemic; I applaud all of you! Keep up the great work everyone, and check out what we’ve got going on in the rest of the newsletter. See you guys next month! Make sure to go check out the CNH September newsletter as well! It can found on the CNH website, under the News tab! Stay safe and healthy, Amber Dang

Jolyn Le | Villa Park Ever since the June DCM, members had been waiting for the July DCM to be able to play Kahoot! The previous Division Club Meeting had ended abruptly, which led to rescheduling the Kahoot game with the July DCM. In this meeting, we discussed the Club of the Month and Officer of the Month! Villa Park was able to receive the Club of the Month and I (Jolyn Le) received Officer of the Month. Another part of the DCM was when baby pictures were displayed on the screen for everyone to guess which DLT member was who! The most exciting part of the DCM was the Kahoot game! There were so many interesting questions and facts about the Division and Key Club International. Questions such as, “Where was Key Club founded?” and “What are the Key Club colors?” were included in the game. Below, the leaderboard was shown and the 1st place winner was, Kelly Pham, VPKC’s Vice President! This July DCM was one to remember and was great for new members to learn more about Key Club!

CLUB MEETING Jolyn Le | Villa Park After many months of quarantine and not being able to have physical club meetings at school, Villa Park Key Club was able to hold a meeting! The meeting was held on July 2, 2020 at 12:30 pm. This meeting was especially important to discuss volunteer opportunities and service events occurring this summer. The meeting allowed Key Club members to join in and talk with the board members about their questions and concerns. The number of people in the meeting were 19 members and it was fun to see everyone’s faces despite our busy, conflicting schedules. Some of the service events that were announced were Charity Miles, Free Rice, Color-a-Smile, and Bedtime Stories! As seen below, there is a welcome slide that everyone is greeted with as they enter the Zoom call. Also below represents a slide that shows two of the service events that were discussed in the meeting. It also has a picture to show where members can locate the form to fill out your hours! With this quick meeting with other Key Club members, board members also stayed after the official club meeting to discuss ideas!

FOCUS ON: OUR BOARD MEMBERS Jarod Smith | OSCA Stop Swimming, It’s the OCSA Goldfishies here to give you all an update as to what we have been up to. As Summer draws to an end, and sunsets come earlier, we wanted to recognize what our swim-tastic members have done over this break. Our Board Members have attended meetings to find new ways to virtually reach out to our community. Our Event Coordinator, Justine Switzer has continuously found new events to partake in to donate volunteer hours, whether it be folding origami cranes, writing letters to elders, or making cards for Frontline Workers. Our President and Vice President, Ashley Park and Katelyn Kim, respectively, have put their utmost effort into engaging members through virtual gatherings and meetings. Our Treasurer, Svara Shah, has leapt high above the water and is always updating service hours and any documentation that needs to be done. And then it’s, me Jarod Smith, just hoping to make our division swim a little better one article at a time. Enjoy your summer as a it draws to an end. Keep Swimming, Goldfishies, Keep Swimming!

COLOR A SMILE Keana Redfearn | Pacific Coast On July 22, 2020, Pacific Coast High School Key Club members met on Zoom to color and draw on papers for children and the elderly. The project’s goal was to bring smiles to the faces of letter recipients and bond as a club. Our event lasted a total of 30 minutes, beginning from 7:30 pm ending at 8:00 pm. However, volunteers were encouraged to finish their drawings at any time. Below is a letter created by PCHS’ Editor, Keana Redfearn. Below is another drawing created by our Club President, Grace Davenport.

07

GAME NIGHT Diego Sahagun | Foothill Game Night is an event created to focus on creating an event in where the club could interact with each other and the board through Twitch. Members talked to each other and to the board through either chatting in the Twitch chat or through joining the games. The games played during the stream were from the president’s computer and consisted of multiplayer games like Minecraft which was the major game of the event. The event also focused on getting donations to challenge the president to do in the game to raise funds for PTP.

D A R E B I N G O

Beginning on July 21st and lasting for over a week, the Division Leadership Team and the Presidents from each of our home clubs participated in a Division Dare Bingo! Below you can see an example of a Bingo Card made by our Lieutenant Governor, Vincent Vu, with some of his dares being doing the splits, cracking an egg on his head, and changing his profile picture on Instagram! Each dare costs a certain amount of money, ranging from $1 to $5, and once someone venmo’s that money to Vincent with the name of the person and the dare, then the DLT member or president would have to complete the dare and show a picture or video as proof! The total money that we raised with this fundraiser was $238, with all proceeds going to the Pediatric Trauma Program! Great job, Goldfish! Take a look a the next page to see a few of the dares that our Division Leadership Members and Presidents had done!

Vincent’s Dare Bingo!

Amber Dang, the DNE, was dared to take a shot of fish sauce for $5!

Tyler Vu, one of our Spirit Coordinators, was dared to make an incredibly cute mini sticker pack for a friend for $5!

Grace Davenport, the president of Pacific Coast Key Club, was dared to go into a pool with clothes on!

GOLDFISH OF THE MONTH School:

VILLA PARK

Without a doubt, Villa Park continues to dominate when it comes to excelling in every category. It is no secret that they are constantly coming up with new ideas for events and making attendance one of their priorities when it comes to DCMs and Division wide events. I don’t have much to say except that I am always proud to help them whenever it comes to making their club even stronger in the coming years. —Lieutenant Governor, Vincent Vu

Officer:

ROSSANGEL QUINTERO From Tustin

Rossangel Quintero has been an amazing officer to work with. Due to personal problems, the Tustin president is currently unavailable. Rossangel, as the Vice President of her home club has done an exceptional job at making sure that the duties of a President are met. Her dedication and willingness to learn is truly an inspiration and I know that her club will be okay, even without a current president. —Lieutenant Governor, Vincent Vu

11

Member:

ARPITA PATEL From Beckman

Arpita Patel has recently been accepted onto the 2020-2021 Division Leadership Team. I have noticed that she has a really large presence at her school and can offer a lot of ideas and growth to her own home club and the Division. As a member, I want to continue seeing her attend events and growing both in service and spirit for this club! She has the potential to really make a difference, and I can’t wait to see what she does as a Spirit Team Member this year. —Lieutenant Governor, Vincent Vu

DLT Members:

NINA KATELYN & LE KIM

This month, I decided it would be a good idea to recognize some DLT members for their hard work. I wanted to start off with recognizing Nina and Katelyn, my EA’s! Whether I’m busy with homework or I’m completely stressed out, they always are able to help me with certain boring tasks like creating forms or developing charts that will help me in the future. I can always count on them because I know that they’re still learning, but they have the passions and energy to keep doing an amazing job even when under pressure. They have a lot of time left in Key Club, and I know that they’ll make a big difference even after I’m gone! —Lieutenant Governor, Vincent Vu

Congratulations everyone! Thank you for your service!
