VINCENT’S LETTER A monthly message from your Lieutenant Governor What’s splashing, D04E? It’s been an amazing few months serving such passionate students, but we’ve just elected a new Lieutenant Governor! Ashley Park from OCSA Key Club will be serving you all for the 2020-2021 term, and I have full confidence that she will do an amazing job in taking our division to even greater heights. Recently, I’ve been working on finalizing the transition paperwork and also enjoying the downtime I have before college decisions in March. In terms of Key Club, please look out for the February DCM that will be happening on February 20th. It’ll be a joint DCM alongside D04S and D04N, so come out and support the last few DCMs I have left. Come congratulate the new LTG Elect Ashley too! We’ll be playing games and having fun, so I can’t wait to see you there. Swimming with service, Vincent Vu

AMBER’S LETTER A monthly message from your Division News Editor
Hello, Goldfish! I hope all of you have been safe and healthy throughout the past month! And for all the seniors right now, I hope all of you feel less stressed with college applications being finished! Lastly, I know that some of you have barely started the second semester of your school year, so for a few words of encouragement, I’d like to say you guys got this! Do your best! With introductions aside, this Valentine’s day themed newsletter has more fun and new content regarding what our division has been doing for the past month. We recently held our conclave where our new Lieutenant governor was chosen, and our joint December DCM with Division 11 was a blast! Our home clubs have had a lot in store as well, with Canyon Key Club racking up their service hours with a canned food drive and with Pacific Coast Key Club enjoying a relaxing time watching Frozen 2 while making blankets! I just want to congratulate all the schools that have been working hard in creating a better community. Good job, guys! With that said, take a look at the next pages to see what else our clubs have been up to and what we have in store for this coming month! One more thing, be sure to check out the District Newsletter on the CNH website! It contains important District information and you can see what our District has been doing for the past month! Wishing you all the best, Amber Dang

DECEMBER DCM
Jolyn Le | Villa Park
D04E’s last DCM of 2020 occurred on December 19th! We ended the year with one last meeting over Google Meets. The next page displays the adorable welcoming slide. The outcome was incredible, exceeding expectations and the limit for attending members! Each of these visuals include a few faces of members on the right side of the screen as well! We began with two separate meetings: one for D04E and one for D11. We discussed the basic monthly information such as roll call, club dues, discussing our newsletter, and more. We went over the ongoing service projects: Charity Miles, Free Rice, and Color A Smile. Though our separate meetings were brief, there was more fun afterwards! Once both D04E and D11 joined back together, members played a game called Soulmate. Rules were reviewed on the left. Several rounds were played before another activity began. Next up in the meeting were opening the lovebox notes that were sent in through attendees! You could also view the link and QR Code to fill out the form. This part of the DCM was fun and sweet! Many members were able to exchange cute messages either directly to another person or anonymously. This DCM was an awesome way to end the year with so many smiles and laughs throughout the night.

By far my favorite was the soulmate game! It was so fun seeing people find their “soulmate” through a series of this or that questions. It was a fun interactive game to get to know other Key Club members! —Kate Lee | Yorba Linda The December DCM was a fun event. The collaboration with the other division was fun, especially seeing the difference between the DCM structures. —Diego Sahagun | Foothill

CLUB RECAPS Movie Night and Blanket Making Keana Redfearn | Pacific Coast This week, our members joined on Zoom to watch Frozen II while making no-sew-blankets. Key Clubbers crafted their fleece blankets for donation to homeless shelters and hospitals. Through this service project, we hope to brighten people’s holidays through acts of kindness. Below are images of our members watching the movie and discussing the methods of creating blankets. A special thanks our Vice President Alycia Paradise for teaching us how to tie blankets!

Foothill Tustin Beckman Social Diego Sahagun| Foothill We organized a social between the Tustin Unified School District High Schools to have a holiday themed event to give our members some fun. We sent out a form to decide which movie our members wanted, and they decided How the Grinch Stole Christmas 2001 movie. We set it up to be on the Friday that we would get into Winter Break. The event received low amounts of members unfortunately and the whole zoom movie set up was difficult as well. We did set up a volunteer opportunity that could be done with the movie from our Project Honor event. We enjoyed the movie nonetheless and overall it was a decent social.

FreeRice Paulina Escalera| Orange The month of December for Orange High Key Club was about enjoying winter break and getting in those hours of community service! Many of our members have enjoyed working on the app FreeRice. It has been an ongoing division service event that many love! Our members have constantly been trying to get in as many hours as they can. It still can be quite difficult to arrange hands on volunteering that would require us to be in person. But we are trying to do what is safe for our members during these times! Our club is looking forward to new volunteer opportunities this upcoming new year! In the mean time division service events have been very fun to do. We hope to have a lot more opportunities very soon!

Canned Food Drive Jonathan Tran | Canyon With the current pandemic disrupting everyday life, it has been challenging to find ways for us to make substantive contributions to our community. Thus, Canyon Key Club has been organizing monthly drive service events as a way to support those in need during these trying times. In December, we held our first canned food drive. Some board members waited at Peralta Canyon Park to receive donations from members. The drive was a success - in total, we received much more than we had initially anticipated. We hope to find similar success in future drives and continue giving back to our community.
