Division 4 East, in the past month, has had a lot of opportunities to prepare for upcoming events. This month is definitely an anticipation month for events to come, like Fall Rally, RTC, Rose Floats, and much more. Some big things are coming your way at the next DCM, like stamp cards, t-shirts, and even more still. As for new events coming soon, September DCM is September 21, from 11 AM - 2 PM at La Purisima Church . We also have a September Fundraiser coming up soon at Lamppost Pizza , be sure to be there! As far as October events go, look forward to something Smash Brothers related coming soon! What could that be?? Anyways, this has been a very good month for prepping for big events and preparing for events coming up soon! I hope to see you all at these events , and I hope you're all enjoying your time in Key Club .

SUMMER OLYMPICS GILLIAN PASCUAL (VILLA PARK) On Sunday, August 25 , the three divisions, Division 4 East (D04E), Division 30 North (D30N), and Division 4 Central (D04C), gathered together for the Summer Olympics ! The goldfish, rhinos, and frogs started the DCM by making dog toys from old t-shirts. The divisions had the opportunity to sit down and talk to their division, as well as other divisions. Then, a raffle was held, and the winners received the lovely prize of free merchandise! What soon followed were the games. One game that the divisions played was “Poncho.” Vy Vu, a publicist for Villa Park Key Club as well as the Division News Editor for D04E, said, “Poncho was SUCH a fun game! Everyone was screaming and dancing, and it really helped us become closer. My favorite moment was when Caden, our D04E Lt. Governor, screamed at everyone if they cheated or messed up.” Another game that was played was a water balloon toss, which later developed into a game full of laughs as everyone started to throw water balloons at each other! August’s DCM was full of unforgettable memories and was definitely one for the books.

VY LE (CANYON) "We even had a guest appearance from our very own Lieutenant Governor’s puppy, Dimple! This event provided Division 4 East, Division 4 South, and Division 4 Central members with the amazing opportunity to spend time with others outside of their own division , make new friends and friendships , and create new bonds and memories ."

YORBA LINDA CLUB RECHARTER RYAN BUI a success story! As the new school year rolls around, every club at Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) must submit a club recharter . In the club recharter, a club must have a minimum of seven members and one advisor sign the recharter to be approved by the Associated Student Body (ASB) office. However, Key Club at YLHS ran into a slight dilemma ; long-time club advisor, Mrs. Tiffany Ward, was unable to come back and be the club advisor this year due to complications with scheduling. In a rush to search for a new advisor, Mrs.Theresa Maeder agreed to become YLHS Key Club’s new club advisor. As YLHS Key Club awaits its approval from the ASB office, the board members are preparing for the annual YLHS Club Rush, where all clubs approved by ASB organize stands to induce students to join their clubs. This year’s YLHS Club Rush will be held on September 19th to 20th. YLHS Key Club hopes to procure a plethora of new members from this year’s Club Rush.

BOLSA CHICA WETLANDS CLEANUP SKY DO (FOOTHILL) On Sunday, September 1st, 2019 , Foothill Key Club volunteered at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Huntington Beach . The volunteers hiked through the wetlands, watered native plants and built protective dirt walls called berms around the plants. Every year, there are several events that take place here depending on the season. Volunteers tend the plants differently for each season. Food, such as bagels with cream cheese, watermelon, and berries, were provided for the volunteers. Overall, Foothill Key Club enjoyed volunteering at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, keeping the native plants hydrated and healthy!

PACIFIC COAST'S FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL RACHEL SWINGLER Welcome back from summer! After a few beautiful months of summer , Pacific Coast (PCHS) students finally came back from their vacations to tackle the school year once more. On the first days of school, PCHS Key Club (PCKC) was there to welcome old or incoming students! We were set up at a table assorted with flyers , signup sheets , and more to welcome the students . At least three board members were always present every couple of hours promoting our Key Club. In one visual, three board members are pictured hard at work. At the table, board members not only advertised the club but also sold new PCHS merchandise to raise money for the year! New stickers, hoodies, and t-shirts were all for sale. You can see the PCHS hoodie in the other visual. Overall, so many new people signed up for the club , and we can’t wait for this year !

BECKMAN BOARD MEETING NATALIE HO On August 16th , Beckman Key Club had its first board meeting of the year! This meeting was to regroup, discuss our plans for the upcoming semester, go over our jobs, and make any suggestions. This was an exciting event, as it was our first board meeting in three months! One of our presidents, Ashley, started off the meeting by reintroducing herself as well as her two other presidents. She discussed the importance of her role and what her promises were to make our Key Club better . Then, the two vice-presidents followed suit and went over their promises and responsibilities. Most of the meeting was spent throwing out new ideas to get our school more involved with Key Club and to plan for Club Rush . Some ideas included bringing food for the first few meetings as an incentive to come and learn about our club as well as to hold each other accountable for our responsibilities. The meeting was adjourned on a high note and left our board feeling excited and confident about what’s to come this year.

MONTHLY RECOGNITION! HIGH SCHOOL...
Canyon! "I would say that Canyon was definitely the most proficient club last month. Looking at the turn out and participation at the August DCM, it was clear that the board and general members that attended from Canyon were very informed about everything that was happening. They also highlighted model service by showing the most participation, and contributing the most to the dog toy making. This is not meant to understate the other clubs’ performances however, as every club that attended put their best foot forward and did the best they could!" -Caden Hise (LTG)
OFFICER...
Grace Davenport(Pacific Coast) "Grace has shown that she has been a very hard-working vice-president for Pacific Coast Key Club. She has tried her best, and she demonstrates a good Key Club model by sharing her great ideas to improve the club and trying to gain more Key Club members! Grace is a great Key Clubber, who I hope will improve even more (: " -Vy Vu (DNE)
MEMBER...
Jocelyn Flores(Villa Park) "Jocelyn Flores has been very active in Key Club for the past months. She continuously works hard and does her best to help anyone and everyone if it’s ever needed. She redid VPKC’s website with a positive attitude and excitement for what was to come without any complaints and only compliments and uplifting messages! Jocelyn is definitely one of the hardest workers I know and we’re very lucky to have her on board with us." -Isabelle Tran (president of Villa Park)
