GOODBYE FROM YOUR LTG What’s up Penguins! Well, I honestly can’t believe it. We’re at the end of the Key Club year. It still feels like yesterday that I was attending Winter Board, in complete disbelief at the journey I was embarking on; in another instant, I was going to DCON and watching it all happen. It all went so fast that looking back on it is quite a rollercoaster. We’ve had ups and downs, struggles, and misfortune, but through all of that, our dedication to service always led us in the right direction. You all have made a difference this year; not only through service projects, but also simply through being a catalyst; being someone who his willing to step up and help those around you. And by doing this, you have created a positive impact. For that, you deserve endless commendation. This year has been nothing but an incredible opportunity to serve you all, and watching you all grow has been truly rewarding. I guess at this point I have nothing left to say but thanks. Thank you for your endless patience in the struggles we’ve encountered this year. Thank you for travelling long hours to attend divisional events and service projects. Thank you for your consistent and overwhelming dedication to serving those around you. And most of all, thank you for letting me serve you this year, Division 56. It has truly been an honor. In love and service, DMITRI SABERI LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF DIVISION 56 LTG56@PNWKEYCLUB.ORG (509) 715-7475

HELLO FROM YOUR LTG-ELECT Wow. This year has gone by so fast. It's been pretty crazy hasn't it? We are nearing the beginning of an end, but also another beginning. This is a transition period for the entirety of the division. All clubs are currently transitioning between officers, and although it may be a little rough right now, I assure you that it's okay. We're all in this together. After DCON, things will naturally start to fall more into place as the incoming officers of each club officially start their term, and I, mine, and we start to get in the roll of things for the new service year. I already have some ideas for this year in mind, and will come around and make club visits as soon as possible after the start of my term in order to officially meet everyone! I'm looking forward to this journey, and seeing what great things we will accomplish together this year! You are all such amazing individuals, and I'm so excited to work with you all. I'll see you soon! ~Jane

Meet Aasiya! Here is Aasiya’s description of her experience in our Division this year. As us officers are nearing the ends of our terms, I find myself reflecting upon this past year and what I’ve been able to gain from it, what it has meant to me. While we do have a considerable voice within our clubs, I’ve never quite found an outlet to truly convey my feelings regarding this experience, which is why I wanted to take a moment to do so now. I’m looking back at some of the greatest memories throughout my term, and I can honestly say that it’s been a blast being able to serve as I did. Not only was I able to further myself in an organization I love and have come to care for so much, I’ve also gotten so much out of the entire experience, and realize I’m a better person as one of the many results. For instance, I can safely say I’ve learned a great deal about serving on this office board and expanding my leadership qualities, developing them in the best ways possible. I’ve learned how to deal with many of the negative setbacks commonly experienced in a progressive environment, and how to use them to your advantage and grow infinitely. I’ve learned how to establish a strong work ethic that is now one of my biggest assets, one that can be applied virtually anywhere. While these are some of the more immediate things I think about in terms of gains, they’ve really served a big purpose in my heart; learning and growth have defined my experience as an officer and bettered me as an individual consequently. For that, I’m so incredibly grateful. 5

In addition, our division has truly experienced momentous achievements this past year, and I couldn’t be more proud of where we are now. The expanse and growth of our members is truly remarkable, and one we can look back on in the future and hopefully designate as the start of a new era. One of the main reasons why I fell in love with Key Club to begin with is because of all the connections experienced within and between our different branches, and they further excite me in meeting new people and creating new friendships. These connections are my continual source of inspiration to work harder and further myself, because they have brought so much meaning and depth to this wonderful journey. Through the endless struggles and stress experienced, they are whom I look forward to being with, creating memories to be cherished upon in the future. To me, they make Key Club worth it. I honestly cannot wait to see what this division has in store for all of us in the near future, and I guarantee it will be ground-breaking. Together, we’ve redefined the meaning, influence, and success of service organizations, and I’m so proud call you Key Clubbers my family.

They say all good things must come to an end, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be sad about them. Key Club has left me with such a fulfilling and heart-warming experience that I can always look back on for greater times, and I’ve had the journey of a lifetime serving this past year. I hope everyone can equally enjoy their Key Club journeys, because they really are the greatest and one can make so much out of them. I will always be anticipating new prospects and adventures, and absolutely cannot wait to see what this upcoming year has to offer. Until then, I look forward to seeing everyone at DCON (in just a few weeks!!) :) In love and service, Aasiya Islam 6

GREETINGS FROM YOUR INCOMING PRESIDENTS! Keelan Chen, President-Elect of Orofino Hello everybody, my name is Keelan Chen and I am The President-elect of Orofino Key Club for the 2017 -18 year. I am currently a junior this year at Orofino Junior Senior High School, and I am excited to be working with everybody to ensure a smooth and proper transition for next year. Dmitri Saberi is a 28er and everyone should watch out for the big exposĂŠ. For the upcoming Key Club year, I plan to improve inter-club relations between Orofino and other clubs in Division 56, for both members and officers alike. I also plan to increase the number of underclassmen in our now aging member count to ensure there will still be a Key Club in the future. I am excited to be a part of this amazing club and I hope for a smooth and successful year!

Zoe Wilcox, President-Elect of Kamiah My name is Zoe Wilcox. I am a sophomore at Kamiah high school. I am involved in three sports and two clubs, including Key Club. This year I plan on helping our struggling community as much as possible. The year before last, Kamiah and the surrounding area had A devastating fire that left people homeless and our community broken. I plan on getting our local Key Club group involved as much as possible. We have many upcoming projects like renewing our riverfront park, volunteering at local food banks, and also helping our elderly as much as possible. We plan on making our community stronger and helping to rebuild the place we call home, Kamiah.

GREETINGS FROM YOUR INCOMING PRESIDENTS! Andy He, President-Elect of Pullman Hi, I’m Andy. I am the next incoming president at Pullman High School. I am currently a Sophomore, and besides Key Club I am involved in Science Bowl, piano, and the school’s tennis team-among other things. I am extremely grateful to be apart of such a great organization with the most amazing people. To me, Key Club is about service, cultivating your passions, and branching out and challenging yourself to be a better person. For me, being an officer doesn’t mean running your club, but making sure your club has the right trajectory and is moving in a forward direction. Our officer team will always be searching for new ways to improve the club and ensuring that all events can be as smooth as possible. What I hope for our club this year is to continue making strong connections across the entire K Family, retaining the dedicated members that are so essential to our foundation, and having fun doing all the service projects we love. Being on the officer team as club treasurer last year, I have already seen these progressions beginning to take place. This year I will continue to work with new and previous officers to make our meeting styles more varied, get feedback once in awhile from our own members, and incorporate all different kinds of students and teachers to be involved in this great organization. Key Club is already the biggest club at our school, and I am confident that this year we will take huge strides in making it the best and most outstanding club ever.

Grant Clary, President-Elect of Moscow I'm grant clary, and I’m the incoming president of the moscow high school key club. My goal for this next year is to get more students involved with the club and put on more school events for our Club.

PRECON DCM RECAP Our PreCon DCM was hugely successful, as we had 34 people attend (the most yet) and accomplished a lot in terms of planning for DCON and recapping the year. Everyone got a chance to look over the Yearly Plan and ask any questions they may have had on it; edits are still accepted, as it will be published right before DCON. This plan will detail the future of Division 56 and help future Lieutenant Governors take our Division to even greater heights. Additionally, we went over an overview of the DCON schedule, including arrival and departure times, our transportation, etc. The biggest part of the DCM was dedicated to the creation of Spirit Gear. Everyone worked hard to make Tutus, penguin hats, hug me signs, and more. While we accomplished a lot, we did not finish all of the spirit gear, so Pullman Key Club will work this Sunday to finish off the rest of it. It was by far the most fun, successful, and productive DCM we have had, and I am very proud of all of the work we put in. I am looking forward to bigger and better DCMs in the future!

PCM MINUTES Presidential Council Meetings are some of the most important aspects of Divisional growth. These monthly phone calls allow Presidents to communicate with their LTG, share ideas, and stay connected on upcoming events and District updates. This year, we’ve built our communication up from the ground, and PCMs have been the foundation for that growth. Meetings provide an element of ”face to face” contact that group chats, social media, and email lack. Topics discussed during the meetings are usually brief club updates, District updates, upcoming events, Divisional developments, etc. I’ve compiled the minutes that I’ve taken at every PCM this year, and put them all in a single Google Drive. You can check them out if you’re interested in what’s going on “behind the scenes” in our Division, or are just curious what your Presidents are like late at night. PULLMAN RECAP Well, what a year of service it has been! With only one more month to go before the PNW District Convention, the PHS Key Club hopes to finish the service year strong. The club will be housing a citywide donut fundraiser for KCCP over the next three weeks, and will also be holding final preparation meetings for DCON. Coupled with the club's ongoing "Pennies for Patients" fundraiser, these events will help cement this year as one of the most lucrative periods of service known to Division 56. Apart from fundraising, the club has also planned a movie and awards night to honor distinguished club members and outgoing officers this April 15th, with the Lincoln Middle School Builders Club also being invited to the event. As a precursor to the final event involving outgoing officers, the Key Club will be also participating in the University of Idaho relay for life on April 8th. This has become a perennial service project, as it showcases the true spirit of Key Clubbers in their fight to spread cancer awareness (by walking around a track in frigid temperatures for 12 hours).

Altogether, the Key Club raised nearly 3000 dollars for charitable causes over the last year, and this number is still growing! This could not have been possible without the over 400 service hours done by PHS Key Club members, exemplifying the tireless desire to serve within each and every one of these young men and women. On a more personal note, I am humbled to have received the opportunity to represent this wonderful group as president. Key Club opened a space within my heart dedicated to helping those in need, and I am sure that this incoming PHS Key Club officer board will open many more of these hearts in the near future! Thanks to the Key Clubbers of Division 56, and keep on serving! -Shyam V

MOSCOW RECAP This was a great year for Moscow's key club! We got a lot accomplished! We got involved with the surrounding district key clubs, we are sending 4 people to DCON, and we have began the process of chartering a Builders Club at Moscow Middle School! I am excited to have been a part of the transformation of this key club and am excited to see what Grant (our incoming president) will do for the club! -Katie Landreth, Outgoing President of Moscow

OROFINO RECAP Orofino Key Club students have had a pretty hectic winter, between busy class schedules, other events, and bad weather stopping us from doing things. In February we had a Valentine's Day candy gram fundraiser that brought in a bit of money. We elected officers for the 2017-18 school year and attempted to have a movie night fundraiser that got canceled due to bad weather and school cancellation, however it will be rescheduled for after Spring Break. Orofino Key Club will also hopefully be assisting the OHS National Honors Society in doing some renovations to the local dog pound, in April. We are all looking forward to our projects! -Cynthia Guitron, Outgoing President of Orofino 16
