Troop Signup for Care Packages We appreciate the service of the members of our country’s military as they deploy to serve missions in difficult and dangerous environments. Our care packages show the care and support of a grateful nation. They contain snacks, toiletries, and recreation items. Troops are welcome to ask for specific items that they may be missing or needing. Special requests often are items like coffee, certain snacks, socks, favorite magazines and books. We send packages that are large enough for several members of a troop to share. Chaplains are a good point of contact for our organization so they can distribute items in chapel, recreation items, or along their visits to outlying areas. Troops who wish to receive packages are asked to email us at ncp4p@yahoo.com or private message us on the facebook page.
Photos right: Look at these cute stockings filled by friends and customers of Colt’s Guns, and Lindsay! Adorable! We appreciate the support over the years!

Carolina Beaches Things happen for a reason...I’m often clueless as to what that the reason is, but often I just go with it and enjoy the experience of seeing where they lead. And so my trip to Franklin, Virginia from Savannah began the week after Thanksgiving. I’d been asked to visit an old high school buddy’s farm and new house all year, but with my son’s return from Korea and many book-related activities, I just had not found the time. With some prodding from Terry and Buzz at our HS reunion in Rocky Mount, I resolved to remedy the situation before year’s end.
Riding through the Myrtle Beach area, I noted the lack of tourists and the abundance of great deals on rooms at motels and resorts. When was the last time you saw beachfront rooms ranging from $32-42 at nice places? Sounds like a great and economical getaway weekend to me. The next morning I stopped and toured a favorite; the USS North Carolina, moored in Wilmington. I’ve never paid much attention to the tides when riding my scooter, but when leaving the parking lot, I had to ride through the rising tide to exit the parking lot. I’m glad I left when I did... bikes don’t do well with salt baths. Taking the backroads through the coastal plains of NC, the stomping grounds of my youth, I rode on US 17, then turned off on NC 172, taking the backroads to Sneeds Ferry where I turned onto 58 towards Atlantic Beach/ Morehead City. That brought back some old memories for sure. From there I headed north through New Bern to resume my trip to Virginia on 17. It was amazed at the damage and happy to see the progress being made after the disastrous flooding they experienced this year.
Those that know me well know I don’t enjoy travel in cages. Most riders I know don’t mind a little cold weather, after all, that’s one reason we’ve got all that great riding gear. Just keep your snow, ice, and freezing temps up north where a day above freezing is considered a great day to ride this time of year. We’re lucky to live in the temperate south where we might be all geared up one day, and wearing short sleeves the next.
Going through Williamston, NC I stopped at a great little park on the Roanoke River. Stretching my legs, I strolled along a riverfront walk with areas to sit and fish and then checked out one of many cabins along the river for those exploring by canoe or kayak. Afterwards it was back on the road to the farm in Virginia.
As most know, the coast of the Carolinas was hammered by hurricanes this year with extensive flooding around Wilmington and the eastern area of the Carolinas. My GPS would take me through the affected areas after setting it to avoid the interstates. As expected, the colors I saw the most had nothing to do with Christmas, but rather the yellows and browns left from the storm debris along with the blue of tarps on roofs. The roads were clear and passable, but with the piles of debris lining the roads in rural residential areas, it was easy to see this would not be a great Christmas for many. I was thankful for all the efforts of the many relief groups and especially for the numerous toy runs that would help bring joy to the kids that would have had bleak outlooks for gifts from Santa on Christmas morning.

in December “Well, life on the (Johnson) farm is kinda laid back, ain’t much an old country boy like me cant hack” (thanks for the lyrics, John). Walking with the dogs around Beaverdam Swamp was fun and energizing, catching fish was excellent, but it got even better when the soybean fields surrounding the farmhouse were cut the second day I was there. ...continued on page 16

...continued from page 15 The wildlife came out, dozens of deer at a time all night. Add adult beverages and some football games “when the work’s all done and the sun’s settlin’ low”, and you have the perfect setting for life on the farm. And of course the local food helped...if you ever get a chance, try a bacon cupcake with candied bacon! And then there’s my new favorite toddy...Apple Crown Royal, fresh apple cider, and a splash of Sprite. After a few days of cold weather, the forecast told me snow was on the way. Two wheels and frozen water do not mix, so I headed back, determined to see more of the NC coast along the way back before the rain or snow set in. For me, it is easy to add a few hundred miles to a 478 mile trip. Although determined to get an oceanfront room in Myrtle Beach on the way back, the rain caught me in Little River, SC where I stopped at a Days Inn advertising great rates. The deciding factor on that Sunday night was a band next door at the tavern and another bar right across the US 17.
As I was eating my bartender-recommended ‘fries with gravy’, I was mesmerized by the harmonious singing of t wo young women on stage at this little tavern. Closing my eyes, I had visions of days long gone when Stevie Nicks was on stage. These two girls that had met 2 days previously, were belting out songs that had the patrons crowding the stage begging for more. Thank you Bobbie and Katie, along with the band at ‘The Star Tavern’ in Little River, where there is live music every night. You made this old road dog smile while remembering his younger days. The area was perfect...there’s a honky tonk bar across the street with pool and music, several restaurants for food, a gift shop, and a breakfast stop, all within a block of a motel where I could park my bike right outside my room. I could see the beach in the morning. One thing I am pleasantly reminded of when riding in the winter months...the lack of foliage allows me to see things that I would not normally see in the other three seasons. It does include deer and other wildlife, and with the shorter daylight hours, I am frequently still riding at dusk. So beware of the critters that can cross your path in the waning light. Bundle up and enjoy your winter rides. As for me, I’ll be back for a cozy winter weekend in Myrtle Beach...some of those places have hot tubs to go with the uncrowded beaches. Enjoy your rides off the beaten path...they may lead you to a uniquely exciting experience. The moonlight swing Band
Nashville, NC The Moonlight Swing Band performed at Nash Arts (Nashville, NC) on 14 Dec 2018. They are a swing era big band that takes you back to the 1940’s and the legendary sounds of Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Harry James, and Glenn Miller, especially when the band plays its signature song, Glenn Miller’s iconic Moonlight Serenade (loved this one!). They also played many Christmas tunes, including “Baby It’s Cold Outside”...loved their rendition of this one!
MSB was formed in 2014, the band is composed of very talented musicians, all volunteers, who just enjoy playing the music of the 1940’s and beyond. The band is receiving excellent reviews having played for the Junior League of Raleigh’s annual fund raising gala, the NC Community College System’s annual conference, “Eyes on Main Street”, an international photography exhibit in Wilson NC, benefit performances for Habitat for Humanity and Imagination Station Science Museum, the Nashville (NC) Arts Center, and for private parties.

The 32nd Annual Rolling Thunder Ride to DC will be the Last December 12, 2018 It has come to our attention that the upcoming 32nd Annual Rolling Thunder Ride to DC (Run to the Wall), which has been held every Memorial Day weekend since 1987, will be the last. This morning I spoke with Pete Zaleski, Vice President of Rolling Thunder, Inc., who confirmed that what we had heard was true. We are told that the difficult decision to end the annual event was due to a number of reasons. One was the expense of putting on the event. Another we are being told was pressure from the Pentagon Police Department. The Pentagon parking lot is the staging area for the ride. We have been told that Rolling Thunder, Inc. will continue to be active, and will continue its work on behalf of POW/MIAs, veterans, and active duty military. However, if you have always wanted to take part in the Annual Ride to DC, you may want to book your rooms now. 2019 will be your last chance. Matt Danielson McGrath, Danielson, Sorrell & Fuller The Motorcycle Law Group 1-800-321-8968 Motorcyclelawgroup.com *Side note: Each year, the Rolling Thunder brings thousands of bikers to the National Mall in DC. Officials state that starting in 2020, individual Rolling Thunder chapters will plan to have demonstrations on Memorial Sunday in their individual states.

U.S. Senate passes motorcyclist anti-profiling resolution by unanimous consent. Survey: Half of motorcyclists say they have been profiled by law enforcement. PICKERINGTON, OHIO -The American Motorcyclist Association expresses its deep appreciation to the U.S. Senate, which adopted a resolution Tuesday promoting awareness of motorcyclist profiling and encouraging collaboration and communication with the motorcycling community and law enforcement officials to prevent instances of profiling. Senate Res. 154 also urges state law enforcement officials to condemn motorcyclist profiling in their policies and training materials. Senate resolutions do not have the force of law. “In 2015, Congress wisely acted to ban federal highway funding for motorcycle-only checkpoints, recognizing that federal funds are better spent on promoting highway safety for all vehicles and d rivers,” said AMA Vice President of Government Relations Wayne Allard. “Now, the Senate has taken a big step further to help end the discriminatory and ineffective practice of profiling motorcyclists.”
As adopted, the resolution recognizes the significant increase in motorcycle registrations during the past 20 years, and points out that half of motorcyclists surveyed believe they have been profiled by law enforcement at least once. The resolution also acknowledges that motorcyclist profiling occurs across the nation. Profiling means the illegal use of the fact that a person rides a motorcycle or wears motorcycle-related apparel as a factor when law enforcement officers decide to stop and question, take enforcement action, arrest or search a person or vehicle with or without a legal basis. In January 2017, the AMA Board of Directors adopted a formal position statement on motorcyclist profiling, see www. americanmotorcyclist.com/About-The-AMA/motorcyclistprofiling. The AMA continues to recommend law enforcement and highway officials focus their efforts on encouraging highway safety in ways that make America’s roads safer for everyone.
The bipartisan resolution, sponsored by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), was cosponsored by Sens. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Michael D. Crapo (R-Idaho), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Angus King (I-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska).
About the American Motorcyclist Association Founded in 1924, the AMA is a not-for-profit member-based association whose mission is to promote the motorcycle lifestyle and protect the future of motorcycling. As the world's largest motorcycling rights and event sanctioning organization, the AMA advocates for riders' interests at all levels of government and sanctions thousands of competition and recreational events every year. The AMA also provides money-saving discounts on products and services for its members. Through the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio, the AMA honors the heroes and heritage of motorcycling. For more information, visit www.americanmotorcyclist.com.

For those of you who like to hunt, kill, and prepare your own food, we have compiled some of our favorite recipes. We will showcase them for you here. If you do not bag your own game and would rather buy it, there are many fine butcher shops and specialty meat markets that offer rabbit, hare, turkey, venison, duck, goose, quail, pheasant, and other big and small game. So, no excuses! As any Southerner knows, both raccoon and opposum make excellent eating! But neither of these are found in specialty butcher shops or the like. These animals are truly wild. Since a feast of game for most people is not an everyday affair...sad but true...you may substitute other commonly used meats for the ones listed here. We don’t recomment this, though. You ride, don’t you? Let your taste buds go wild, too!
North Carolina Wild Boars/Feral Swine In the early 1900’s, wild boar were introduced from Europe to a private game reserve in Graham County, North Carolina. Some animals escaped and thrived, spreading to other mountain counties and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The wild boar persisted in western North Carolina and some interbreeding with domestic swine occurred due to free-range farm practices, releases, or escaped domestic stock. In1979 the wild boar was given the status of game animal by the N.C.Legislature. Wild swine have appeared in other areas of the state due to free-range farm practices and intentional stocking by private individuals. Populations of free-ranging feral swine continue to grow and spread in North Carolina. Feral swine can significantly impact plant communities and wildlife habitat because they root through the ground’s surface in search of food. Feral swine destroy agricultural crops and other property and pose a substantial disease risk for both domestic swine and wildlife. Due to these factors and the invasive nature of feral swine, they are considered to be an undesirable species on North Carolina’s landscape.
26
“Wild boar”, “feral hogs”, feral swine, and domestic swine are all the same species (Sus scrofa). In 2011 the status of all free ranging swine (including “wild boar” in the historic counties) was changed from a game animal to a nongame animal with no closed hunting season. Thus the recognition of wild boar as a big game animal ended. NCWRC biologists no longer tract the harvest of these animals thorough the big game harvest reporting system. The harvest of feral swine is monitored through our annual hunter harvest survey that provides biologists with an annual estimate of harvest. In counties of North Carolina where “wild boar” historically existed, many people still hunt the feral swine using traditional methods like hunting with hounds. However, across NC people hunt using various methods and at all times of the year. As the range and destructive nature of feral swine has expanded, management efforts have changed from managing a game species to attempting to contain and control the spread of a destructive species across the landscape.
BehindBarz.com
All persons hunting feral swine at any time must have a valid hunting license or must be exempt from having a license pursuant to GS 113-276. Feral swine may be hunted year round. There is no closed season and there is no bag limit. Hunters may hunt feral swine at night with lights. Hunters may use electronic calls for hunting feral swine. 7. mind of big ed Sorry, but I dont get it. You’ve got a person standing there to train me how to do their job. Why not just cut me a damn pay check, too, on my way out. Havin’ it my way. Shoot. If I was having it may way they would take my order and I wouldn’t waste 15 minutes learning to touch a touch screen that every persons snot nosed kids have played with before I got there. Makes you think of all those nasty little germs on peoples hands and now you got to touch the same screen they did and some probably didn’t give their hands a proper washing after using the facilities. Hmmm... enjoy your french fries. Now you’er seeing things that pop up in my mind. Scary huh? I can’t help it. I need time on the bike folks. I need it! I can feel the world crawling up my pants leg like a dog in heat and I want to kick him in the nuts.
Big Ed aka 2Timer
Happy New year Brothers and sisters A new year is always exciting. I may see it differently than most. I see a new year as a way to let go of old habits and the stresses of life and start over again new. I was recently diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. So, my old habits were eating tons of junk food and drinking sweet tea, and man, do I love sweet tea! I’ve never been much on beer. I know that’s strange being a biker and such, and don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my fair share of the horse piss and headaches that come with it. I just choose to enjoy sweet tea. To me, there’s nothing better than watching the sun going down in the distant horizon and drink a glass of sweet tea as you are sitting on the porch swing watching the sky turn from blue to orange to dark, but I had to make some changes. Now it’s Just water. WATER WATER WATER! But water is a great thing. I can tell the changes I’ve made so far, are working. I was a tubby tubby and now I’m just a tubby. Hopefully, in a few more months, I can look down and see more then just the tips of my toes. Also with the changes I’ve made recently, I am going to be able to have more riding time. It seemed last year was all work , work, work . I know we all got to do it, but man a few days to feel the wind would be sweet, too. I have missed my ape hangers and the sound of my bike y’all! Priorities have gotten in the way of some down time to relieve some built up stress. Stress is not good y’all. Yelling at the self check out register at the Walmart ‘cause the guy who’s working it doesn’t know what in the hell he is doing, is causing a scene. Not to mention, McDonald with their touch screen ordering machine does seem to piss me off.
32
Riding and stress relief are a bundle in the same basket. There’s no yoga class that can make me feel the things I feel when riding two wheels. The lines on the road shooting past me as I twist the throttle back and dig into the asphalt. I see my bros riding with me and listening to the rumble as we pass little small towns and communities. I feel good inside when I happen to see a kid or two playing outside and watch them stop what they are doing and stand there watching us roll by. You see the look in their eyes and they make the expressions on their face like, OOOOH MAN!!! THAT’S COOL, MAN!!! While I’m riding my stress feels like a brick rolling off my shoulders. Work life crack upon the road, then day in and out drama crack upon the road. The washing machine needs fixing, the kitchen floor needs repair. The insurance payments are coming soon. All this turns into bricks and one by one they all hit the asphalt behind my wheels. You got to leave it behind you, at least for a moment, as you ride. Doctors need to stop handing out pills and hand out prescriptions for the wind man. So, with the new year, take a step back and let the stress fall with the sound of the tail pipes . Let the past go and move forward. There’s nothing to gain from yesterday ‘cause it’s already gone. Take a long hard breath and exhale. Twist the throttle and let it go. That’s going to be my new habit! Big Ed (2Timer)

My story...
Daddy bought a 2005 Honda Shadow at the end of 2004. He pulled out in front of a car a few months later (his health/vision was bad) nothing happened, thankfully, but he decided to park his bike. He sold it to his sister for her new husband's wedding gift in 2006. My uncle rode it up his driveway and fell over. He parked it in his garage and never got on it again. My daddy died in 2008. My uncle died in 2011. I visited my aunt (daddy's sister) just before hurricane Florence hit this year in Sept. She asked me if I wanted a motorcycle and told me it was my daddy's. I NEVER thought I'd see it again! Through tears, I said, "YES!" She GAVE me his motorcycle! My husband had it tuned up (removed rust in the gas tank, rebuilt carburetor, etc). I took the MSF class, passed and went to DMV to get my M endorsement. I have been BLESSED to receive my daddy's last pleasure purchase! Going through the paperwork, I found my daddy's signature! My husband surprised me by having a friend make a vinyl of it. We placed it on the front fender. I now have my own bike! I am still nervous riding, learning to trust it and trust the lean while riding, but I am ONE HAPPY daddy's girl! It had less than 1100 miles when I received it...all of those miles he put on it. I am a new rider/driver. (I LOVE being on the back of my husband's). Please pray for me, my safety and my continued desire to continue riding independently! Here's to being me!

Dakota Thunder Run cruises to Sturgis rally ELLSWORTH AIR FORCE BASE, S.D.
Ellsworth AFB leadership also took to the stage to address service members and veterans in the crowd.
Members from the Green Knights Military Motorcycle Club and 28th Bomb Wing leadership hosted the 18th annual Dakota Thunder Run at Ellsworth Air Force Base on Aug. 7, where over 150 participants rode their motorcycles to Sturgis.
“Whether you are currently serving in the military or have been part of the world’s greatest military, we applaud you,” said Col. Eric Hresko the 28th Bomb Wing vice commander.
The riders started the Dakota Thunder Run at the flight line and, with a police escort, rode approximately 53 miles to the 78th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally to kick off a Military Appreciation Day ceremony.
The colonel gave thanks to all who attended the ceremony, and he gave his appreciation to the many Ellsworth AFB men and women serving around the world to deter adversaries and support U.S. allies.
Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Cook, a 28th Munitions Squadron line delivery crew chief, had the honor of leading the riders into the rally.
“I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to remind all of you that, as I speak, there are more than 550 Airmen from Ellsworth deployed to areas around the globe,” Hresko added. “Luckily, we have strong support from our nation that allows us to focus on the mission at hand. We simply could not do our jobs without your support for us and our families.”
“I was humbled by the ceremony and the veterans we honored,” Cook said. “We want to carry on the tradition of the Dakota Thunder Run and support those who have [served] and continue to serve our nation.” Additional Military Appreciation Day events included a community flag folding ceremony and a skydiving demonstration by retired U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Dana Bowman, a former member the Golden Knights parachute team. Bowman is a disabled veteran who lost both his legs while serving his country. He continues to skydive as a way to honor veterans and those who continue to serve.
44
Giving further credence to the ceremony, a B-1 flew over the rally at 3 p.m. “I really like that they do the flyover here – it’s one of my favorite parts of the week,” said Carter, a motorcycle enthusiast and regular attendee of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. “The sound of freedom is definitely loud,” he added with a laugh. "My ears are still ringing.”

the good news! Redeemed House Biker church Jesus Riders Redeem 1. To regain possession of by paying a price. The word “of” in that definition, is defined as someone specifically named. To regain possession takes an action of making a claim in word to the specifically named, the words spoken are a means of self-revelation; taking hidden thoughts and expressing them in a way so a connection is being made, those thoughts can not be known unless they are shared. The word price for the one doing the redeeming is the value; worth, required for obtainment. When all of the requirements are met, only then does the “of” become the redeemers possession, right ? The rightful claim has been made, the right price has been paid, What if the owner of the “of” was the One who created the specifically named someone to be regained ? If the motorcycle you owned was stolen from you, would you have to pay a price to regain back? You would if the thief abused it and wrecked your prized possession, your crown of creation. Say, the police found your bike and returned it to you ,and with the help of insurance money fixed all that was broken on it. Maybe insurance had to replace your bike, either way your bike will never be the same to you! Only with a new bike could you start over, and the past of your old one fades away. Have you been redeemed by the faith of God in Jesus the free gift, God’s word, Romans 3:24-26 say’s “ Being justified freely by His grace through

the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation ( PERFECT SACRIFICE OF MERCY) through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteouesness : that he might be just, and the justifier of Him which believeth in Jesus. God’s mercy seat, Jesus, the free gift of eternal life saving us by grace through this faith. God acted in Christ to restore our relationship ,which satan stole .NOW! God has restored His image in us, for us to reflect Jesus’ life in us to others. Have you been redeemed by Jesus? If so, you have been born again, a n ew creation, so don’t keep acting like your old self , the father of lies who says its all about self, be like Jesus it is about sacrifice of self. He paid the price for you to be His, now let’s ride for Christ and die to self just like Jesus.
