3 Arena Central

- My involvement on this project was from RIBA stage 2 until its current stage 5-6. This building will be leased by HMRC for 25 years. The developer is ACDL. This is a Revit BIM level 2 project.

- 3AC is part of the wider Arena Central masterplan designed by Make. The masterplan consists of five buildings, three of which have already been granted planning permission and two are on site. 3AC, received planning permission in December 2017 and is currently on site, due for completion in 2020.

- I was able to deliver a successful planning application in a small team of 2 people and to be present at the contract negotiation meetings. Leading the legal drawings set gave me opportunity to understand the legal side of the project. In a bigger team I lead the core design. I had a close relationship with the client, the contractor and all consultants and sub-contractor and was present on all design team meetings.

1 Leadenhall Street

- I was working on the feasibility and massing studies of this project and later I was involved in the RIBA stage 3 issue working on the core and internal areas including the basement cycle facilities.

- 1 Leadenhall is a skyscraper that we worked on together with Brookfield. During the early days of the design I was able to learn the demands of the client and how this high-end projects differ from the other ones. I had a close relationship with the client and attended all design team meetings.

- Developing more than 300 massing studies I also had to make sure that the building has the required office area. I worked on the design of the public terrace on level 2 and later during stage 3 I was leading the internal areas and coordinating the design with the sub-consultants. I was working on the interior of this areas which was a steep learning curve of how to design a high-end interior spaces.

40 Leadenhall Street

- 40 Leadenhall Street (Vanquish) is a 34 storey skyscraper for TIA Henderson. I was working during RIBA stage D design as part of the core team. I was leading the washrooms and cycle facilities package and helping with other parts of the core as well.

- Planning was granted in 2014 but works on site haven’t started yet. When built, it will have one of the largest total office area in the city.

- While working on this project in a large team I was able to understand how important coordination of the team was and how important the role of the project leader is. We had regular internal and external meetings and more often meetings between the sub-team everyone was part of. I became more confident with my work, learning how to prioritise things and answer on time to the client needs and how to present and defend the designs at a design team meetings and client presentations.

Hisa

- Hisa was a small project that I worked individually for several months in 2016. I worked on this house up to RIBA Stage 3 after which local architects took over.

- This project showed me the difference between office buildings and private residential houses. It showed how the design is more personal, the comments by the client are personal and the whole design becomes and expression of the current thoughts. There are no areas and current market trends that need to be followed.

- This project allowed me to be able to plan my time and manage my workload to be able to finish everything on time and to satisfy the needs of the client.

Fenix

- I was working on this project from its very beginning until Stage 2 in a small team of 2 people.

- This is an office building on an island site in Bratislava for HB Reavis, one of the biggest Slovakian developer that is expanding in the rest of Europe as well.

- Being able to develop the brief together with the client and working in a small team I was able to closely understand what are the needs for this project and what does the client want to achieve. I was developing many massing models and conceptual sketches that we would discuss with the client during the meetings. Working on a project outside London with a client that has more experience in that area it was very useful to see the differences of how the project evolves compared to a UK project. Being able to go to a site visit furthermore helped me understand the area and the potential for this project.

Aranya

- This project was not done according to the RIBA stages but the stage I was working on was equivalent to stage D drawings.

- This is a residential project for Piramal, a developer in India. It is on a large site just next to the zoo in Mumbai. The project consists of podium which is mainly for parking and 2 residential towers with high-end apartments. There are only 4 apartments on each floor.

- I was responsible for the 8 levels of podium. The podium consists of parking, MEP spaces and landscape and clubhouse on the roof of the podium. This project was interesting experience to learn how to collaborate with consultants that are not located in the city. We regularly had client and consultants video meetings where we presented our progress. The client meetings were much more different than the ones I have had with UK clients.

Mitre Yard

- I worked on this project during RIBA stage 2, before submitting the planning application.

- This is a mixed-use - residential building with apartments intended to be rented. It is located in West London, next to Willesden Junction on a brownfield site as part of the wider redevelopment of the area. The building is intended to attract young professionals and to have co-work facilities.

- During my time on the project I was helping with the planning application. Most of the time I spent on developing the roop top terraces and the ground floor including the landscape area around the building.

80 Charlotte Street

- This was the first project I worked on at Make. I was working on RIBA Stage C. - 80 Charlotte Street is a high-end office and residential building in central London. I was responsible for the core, atria and roof design of the office part. The project started as a refurbishment of the existing building and addition of new facade while in the end a decision was made for the existing building to be demolished and new to be built, exactly the same like the previous design.

- It was a unique process to develop this project. The client was very demanding and we ended up drawing several stage C-s. This project has been many years at Make and although generally the design has stayed the same, there were constant small changes and updates. It was also the first Revit project in the studio.

Selfridges

- All of my time during my internship at Gensler I worked on the Selfridges redevelopment in partnership with Renzo Piano Building Workshop. It was one of the leading projects at Gensler at the time lead by the company’s managing director.

- Working from the feasibility through to the schematic design I was able to attend client meetings and design workshops which helped me a lot to gain knowledge about the high-end retail architecture and how a project of this scale is delivered through analysing the areas, circulation planning, MEP design and uses of the spaces. The new proposed scheme was changing the interior of the listed building, adding a roof top garden (forest) and adding hotel and leisure areas. As part of this project we completed a small project for the shoe terrace in Selfridges.

AlCentralMaryah

- Al Maryah (former Sowwah) Central shopping mall is one of the largest shopping malls in the Middle East, being completed currently.

- In a large team of about 15 people I was working on the facade design, slab edges interfaces and the lease plans for the schematic design, equivalent to stage C submission.

- I had the chance to understand the principles of design for big shopping centres and retail units and the complexity of work when a large project is developed by a large team. Coordination was a key priority.

Level 39

- For a short period of time I was given the task to sketch the space planning layout for Level 39 Media Tech Hub at 1 Canada Square (Canary Wharf).

- This project helped me understand how to develop the client’s brief into a drawing. The client and my project architect were very satisfied with the space planning and quickly the design was signed off and we continued developing the interior for the space

Compact city

My Masters project was studying the principles of what makes a sustainable city. I took an existing site in the centre of Skopje that currently is used as a parking to develop a small masterplan that will present my theories about a compact city. The cite connects one big shopping centre and the main city square and the railway station and the national bank on the other site, thus it serves as a transit area mainly. My design justifies the importance and the value of the site with making it a small business and residential centre while providing a pedestrian connection route to the two points with three small squares on the way. This way it has high density of people on the site while still having more than half of open public areas.

Architecture centre

My graduation project is an Architectural centre for Skopje which will be a house for archiving, presenting and debating about the architecture and urbanism. It will also have a co-working spaces for small architecture companies as well and spaces fro conferences and lectures and a guest house. My inspiration for this centre was the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) which I visited during my studies and I also met its former director Ole Bouman. The site for the centre is on the border of the main city park. The free and open ground floor will serve as a main entrance to the park continuing its already existing paths and will connect the park to the city.. The elevation towards the park is designed to feel more like a gate while the opposite elevation towards the city takes inspiration from a city silhouette.

Football stadium

A football stadium for 6000 spectators in the residential neighbourhood Karposh in Skopje. Surrounded by residential building the main aim was to make a small sports centre that will be used by residents on daily basis. The idea was to make a ‘line’ that goes around the football field where all facilities and activities will be housed. Among the facilities are a small hotel, cafe bar and restaurant, fitness and spa centre and other spaces fro small sport activities. The spectators entrance to the stadium is from a ramp or stairs that leads them to the higher platform while the VIP entrance is from the ground floor. The design of the building also makes a small square for public use. The parking is located in a separate two storeys building.

Cinema centre

A cinema centre as a part of the never completed cultural centre for Skopje. The design for this cultural centre dated from after the earthquake in 1963. This cultural centre is design by a Slovenian architecture practice and was designed to have an opera house, cinema, theatre, music school and a bank building. The Cinema and the opera house were never built. The project brief was to design a cinema centre that will take the original site location but will answer today’s needs. The cinema building for 1200 visitors was designed to have a visual connection with the existing theatre building just next to it but also to have an identity on its own. The building has folded design that creates an Culture

Hotel Off

The project brief was to design a 4 star boutique hotel with 70 rooms on a narrow street very close to the main city square in Skopje. The facade design has a zig-zag form that creates visually appears as two façades when looked from each side of the street. The hotel has different type of rooms and a sports centre in the internal courtyard between the existing buildings. The main entrance including the milti-functional hall are located on the first floor and approached by car from a ramp.
