Welcome to the Regional Performance Centre for this afternoon’s Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League Two clash with Hamilton Academical. Today’s game will be the third game in a week for the girls and one we are really looking forward too. Hamilton will provide an extremely tough test as always, the players are are well aware of the threat they possess and are looking forward to the challenge. We enter the game on the back of a win against St Johnstone & a draw in midweek against Glasgow. The game on Tuesday was arguably our best performance of the season, after going two goals down the girls should great resilience to get back into the game before half time. Unfortunately their dominant second half display didn’t produce more goals to win the game however there’s still a great deal of positives to take from it as we aim to improve our performance levels each week. It’s taking a bit of time for us to get going so far but there are signs that the confidence and consistency levels are starting to return to the group. Another positive note this week was the return of Danni McGinley & Keira Johnstone to light training, both have been out since the opening game of the season but have made great progress and will return soon.
Thanks Gavin
Good afternoon and welcome to the Regional Performance Centre for our second home fixture of the week in the Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League Two as we host Hamilton Academical I hope all of our supporters are all well. Today we are at home, for the visit of Hamilton. The girls will be going for all three points today with the opportunity to leapfrog this afternoon’s opponents in the table. We are however very aware of the quality Hamilton possess and are looking forward to a tough competitive encounter. We go into the game on the back of a good away win against St Johnstone and a midweek home draw against Glasgow. There is no doubt that playing three games in a week is a demanding schedule but the squad are well prepared and I think I speak for everyone at the club by saying we feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to safely play in competitive football at this time. Although it is still early in the season I think the girls are beginning to find a good rhythm and we are getting both mentally stronger and physically fitter with every game. From a personal point of view, it has been amazing to be back involved and playing games again after a long lay off last season with injury. It has also been a privilege to captain the side in the absence of Keira and I hope to see her back fit and on the pitch again soon. As do we hope to see our supporters back at the games as soon as possible. Your support in person is missed by all the girls. Until then we hope you are enjoying keeping informed from our social media updates. Thanks
Megan

AN INTERVIEW WITH…
NEVE GUTHRIE You netted the winner last week against St Johnstone, how did it feel to get all three points with your goal? I was very happy to a get a goal on its own, but to score the winner to help get three points was an even better feeling. The fact this was my first goal of the season made it even more special to me.
did you feel about being a sub in the opening games? It was really frustrating not getting a lot of minutes or starting as football obviously means a lot to me and I was really down at times, but this only just brought out the determination in me to prove people wrong and show why I should be in the starting line up by working hard in Does taking the lead with an early goal training and giving it my all in the openhelp the squad settle a bit easier in ing games where I got on as a sub. games like that? After a youth career at Forfar Farmington and then moving to Dryburgh Athletic, you made your senior debut at Dryburgh, do you remember much about the game? I remember it a lot due to the fact it was on my 15th birthday vs Hearts Development. I remember coming on in the second half to play the no.10 position. The major difference experiencing that level for the first time was the physicality, they were much stronger than playing against u17s teams because they were much older but this was a challenge I was up for. In the two years at United you have excelled with a number of goals & assists, have you enjoyed your time at the club? I have really enjoyed my time at the club, I have achieved so much here and this has brought out the best in me as a player and as a person. The players and coaches who have been here throughout the years during my time at United have made me feel welcome, always are there for me with me and helped me learn so much with me being so young and them being very experienced. What has been your favourite game and goal in a United shirt? My favourite game has definitely got to be against Hearts at Tynecastle. Scoring the winner to win the game 1-0 was unbelievable. I remember the buzz feeling as soon as I took it past the keeper and when it hit the back of the net, to this day that game is definitely a standout as it was such a big game. My favourite goal was also against Hearts actually, but this time we were at home, it was our first game against them last season. This goal was another 1-0 win against them too. I was outside the box & the ball came to me it took a bounce and I went for it, a left footed volley and it dipped over the keeper in the top corner. To this day I am still gutted that the game
was never videoed but was recorded the weekend before, just my luck haha. You were named the SBSSWPL Player of the Month for May 2019, was it a surprise to win this? I was surprised at the nomination as many other talented players were up for the award but I was really proud that my achievements and performances were being noticed by other coaches & teams. At the end of 2019 you were also nominated for the second tier’s Player of the Year, although you didn’t win, was it still a good feeling to be nominated? Being nominated alone is achievement itself I am very proud of as I was the youngest out of the 4 players. This helped boost my confidence as coaches and other members of the league have noticed my performances through last season & saw me as one of the talented players in the league. I would love to get the nomination again for this season so I will continue to work hard & do my best. You have also been involved with the Scotland Youth squads, most recently in the U17’s. Is the aim to make it to the U19’s and potentially the senior squad? Being involved with the Scotland National Youth Teams is an unbelievable experience. Meeting new players who also play at such a high standard and traveling away to other countries to represent your country is an unbelievable feeling, a feeling I want to experience many more times as this is what I aspire to achieve in the WU19’s and also the A Squad. This is a dream to continue to represent my country as it is always been something I’ve wanted to do, watching the Women’s World Cup made me realise how much I want this, watching all the inspirational players playing for their country who I look up to. Playing in a World Cup would
