Lei Making Socials Making leis to help fundraise!

On May 15 - 18, we held a lei making social each day after school for 1-2 hours. Many of us did not know how to make ribbon leis at first, but with the help of our wonderful president, Ala Rahman, all of us could make ribbon leis efficiently! CSF and Leadership also volunteered to help us out! Thanks to all of our hard-working participants, Key Clubbers earned 53 total service hours. Everyone made 106 leis in total! Even if it meant staying at school for an extra hour or two, we enjoyed our time together. Everyone was having fun while making their ribbon leis, and we got to know more about each other!

DRMS Presentation Getting upcoming freshmen interested in Key Club!

A few of our Key Clubbers visited Dallas Ranch Middle School on Friday, May 19. Our president and VP, Ala and Kareelyn, made a powerpoint with the help of past officer Darienne, and presented it to DRMS's eighth grade classes alongside member Kayla. There was a significant divide between the students who wanted to pay attention and those who didn't; however, many classes were very interested in the concept of the Spirit Stick during FRNs! Many others even wanted to sign up for Key Club on the spot! All in all, teaching the 8th graders about Key Club was a fun and interesting experience.

Kiss a Friend Goodbye Send a gram to anyone before the school year ends!

We held our first Kiss a Friend Goodbye fundraiser. Here, you could purchase a ribbon lei, Hershey's Kisses, and a message gram for someone, as a way to end off the school year on a positive note (even though quite a few people sent one to themself). We handmade the ribbon leis during our lei-making socials after school, and sold them, along with the kisses and message grams, from May 22 - 25 and 30 - 31. In total, we raised $115 for PTP and The Eliminate Project! Thank you to all who purchased a gram, and we can't wait to bring back this fundraiser next year!

Division 26 Banquet and DCM A joint banquet to celebrate our past and present LTGs!

On June 12, division 26's past and present LTGs held a joint division banquet and (separate) DCM at Walnut Creek. Congratulations to Orianna Todd for getting Officer of the Month for May '16, Kisakye Naiga for getting Officer of the Month for June '16, Diamond Agee for getting Officer of the Month for February '17, and Darienne Viloria for getting Member of the Month for June '16. Our club received the Club of the Month award for February and June of '17! Also, we got certificates of recognition from Congressmen Jerry McNerney and Jim Frazier. LEFT: The long food line everyone had to wait in. RIGHT: Deer Valley Key Club at the banquet with the delicious food!

Our past LTG, Wencie Hoang, gave a very meaningful and emotional speech about what Key Club has taught her. Handwritten awards for the whole term were passed out. Then our new LTG, Lily Yau, introduced the new DLT and had the spirit coordinators, including our very own Joren Hitosis, lead us in an icebreaker. Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated the new term with us! LEFT: We played Telephone (handshake style) at the DCM. RIGHT: We had so much fun at the June DCM!
