Autumn 2014

We are very pleased to welcome Wendy Marinos as the new Cluster Manager for ECLP. Wendy, who introduces herself below, will be responsible for leading and supporting the team and providing strategic direction for the ECLP Programme.

Before I joined the ECLP Team, I worked for Warm Wales as a project manager, developing energy efficiency improvement programmes for Welsh households - a job I thoroughly enjoyed. Previously I had worked for EAGA, delivering the Home Energy Efficiency Scheme in Wales and for Energywatch, the gas and electricity consumer watchdog. I also spent some time at the Stroke Association, delivering community based services to stroke survivors and their families. Having previously worked in the private sector, I felt it was time to use my skills to support the community and make a real difference to people’s lives.

The Cluster Manager job has given me the opportunity to add real value and deliver the community based services the residents of ECLP want and which help them improve all aspects of their lives. On a personal note, I love to travel, often trying to replicate the dishes I sampled abroad back at home. But as I have never really been an avid

cook, my dishes end up more as disasters than meals! In addition to my love for travel, I enjoy spending time with the family and watching movies as well as pottering in the garden. I believe that ECLP Communities First can make a real and lasting impact in the communities we serve. Using the skills of our staff, the support of our partners and by building on the involvement of key community members we can ensure everyone who needs our support gets it. In the meantime we will continue our work through developing and promoting educational and activity based learning opportunities, as well as through social events.

I am delighted to have joined the ECLP Communities First Team on 18th August 2014. I am the new Cluster Manager, which means I am responsible for delivering the Welsh Government’s Communities First programme in St Mellons, Trowbridge, Llanrumney, Rumney, Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn.

But I am keen to hear your views on our project and I very much look forward to getting out and about as much as possible and meeting you to hear first-hand how we can work together to make the communities as prosperous and healthy as they can be. If you would like to talk to me about the ECLP Communities First project, I can be contacted by email eclp@c3sc.org.uk or by phone on 02920 792004.
