P22 Club 8 - Volunteer Club

In the Volunteering Club, students from our school participated in various and very interesting activities, which were cleaning and beautifying the school space, collecting waste and taking care of a park in our neighborhood and a solidarity campaign to help children in need, and of course and we continued with the waste recycling campaign in our school.

All activities in Club 8 aimed to awaken in our students different values - solidarity, team participation, cooperation, responsibility, respect, etc.

Providing First Aid

In one of the activities of the Volunteering Club, the 6th grade students at our school participated in a course on giving first aid during disasters and earthquakes, organized by the Bulgarian Red Cross/BRC/. The students had theoretical classes and a variety of practical activities at the National Training Center at the BRC.

The children learned how to treat wounds, immobilize broken limbs and help injured people by performing CPR. They received new and important knowledge about the human body, and also skills for giving help to injured people, which they will be able to further develop in the future. They understood how much responsibility and knowledge is needed to help.

The students had theoretical classes and, of course, practical activities at the National Training Center at the BRC. Earthquakes were simulated with injured people needing help.

Cleaning and improvement of the school space.

The next activity from the Volunteer Club involved cleaning and collecting trash from the spaces around the school's volleyball court. The children of 4th b grade with their teacher Mrs. Katerina Pumpalova, collected trash for recycling and made the favorite playground of all the children of the school and the neighborhood cleaner and more pleasant for everyone.

And the students from the upper grades, under the guidance of their teacher, took care of the flower beds and created flower corners from the previous year in our school, showed responsibility and self-initiative.

The beds and plants that had been planted in the first project year were now cleaned and shaped, the children looked after them and so the work continued.

Cleaning of public outdoor spaces

The first graders also joined the cleaning activities, choosing to clean the Nightingale Oaks park together with their teacher. The children went to the park prepared with the necessary tools and cleaned the main path and stairs of the park with great desire and enthusiasm.

The first graders wanted to make our beloved park cleaner and more welcoming for all the people and children of the “Lozenets” neighborhood. So, they learned to be responsible and protect nature.

The children learned to work with the cleaning tools and collected a lot of rubbish separately for the recycling bins. Finally, everyone went home a little tired, but satisfied after a job well done.

A solidarity campaign - charity action

The last activity of the "Volunteer" club was a charity action to collect games, toys and books for disadvantaged children. The children from 1b and 1d grades with great love and desire collected toys, games and books, which they donated to the "Rainbow" Day Center for Autism in Sofia for the children in the center, and we sent another part to the "Plusheno Meche" Foundation in Plovdiv for the socially weak children. Everyone was very excited and grateful, and our children learned that there are children who need their help and felt empathetic and happy to help them.

From the Day Center for Autistic Children, our students received a Certificate of Donation, lots of smiles and thanks! We are proud of our pupils!
