SCHOLARSHIPS TO STUDY IN SOUTH AFRICA
MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The MasterCard foundation has partnered with University of Cape town to oversee the implementation of financial, academic, social and post graduation support and award candidtates with the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cape town. The vision of this program is to transition young people from beneficiaries to benefactors while preparing them with the necessary values, knowledge, skills and leadership to fuel economic and social progress across Africa.
ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to academically talented and economically disadvantaged residents of a Sub Saharan African country. Applicants can apply as an undergraduate or postgraduate. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded comprehensive scholarships, academic support, peer mentorship, career guidance, internship opportunities, transition-to-work support and access to a global alumni network. MARGARET MCNAMARA EDUCATION GRANTS: AFRICA PROGRAM
This scholarship is in memory of Margaret Craig McNamara who wanted to invest in women’s education as a means of reducing poverty and stimulating economic growth.

MANDELA RHODES SCHOLARSHIP
The Mandela Rhodes Foundation was set up with the purpose to build strong leadership capacity in Africa. Set up in 2005, this scholarship provides excellent educational and training opportunities to individual Africans to create a network of well-rounded leaders across African society.
ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to citizens of all African countries for postgraduate study at South African universities or tertiary university. AWARD: Recipients will be awarded tuition and registration fees as set by the institution; study materials allowance as set by the MRF; accommodation and meal allowances as set by the MRF; medical aid allowance as set by the MRF; economy-class travel allowance for international scholars only from the scholar’s home to their institution at the beginning and back home at the end of their degree program; and a personal allowance.
