reativity flourishes wildly in the Golden Isles. We have so many talented artists in various media right in our midst. Anderson Fine Art Gallery is well known for quality artwork, outstanding artists, and painting workshops. Anderson’s Studio/Annex located behind the Frederica Road gallery at 100 Sylvan Road, Suite #170 offers year-round workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and studio space for visiting or local artists who need a place to paint. At the Annex, you can escape from the solitude and work in a supportive atmosphere with other artists for a day of painting, mentoring and sharing. Sign up for a workshop and you’ll learn from professional artists who teach throughout the country and abroad and whose work is collected both nationally and internationally. These instructors are carefully chosen to work with small groups of students, at all skill levels, and to assist them in improving their painting skills.

Year-round classes are available with Sherry Egger and Louise Eaton. Sherry teaches Fundamental Art Skills, open to all mediums and levels, Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in Open Studio. Fee is $40 per session. Register by contacting Sherry at 912.506.2982 or by email at gossamerpromise@hotmail.com. Louise Eaton instructs Pastel 70

Remaining workshops for 2016 are Tom Neilsen’s “From Sidewalk Puddles to Oceans – Paint Convincing Water” on November 10-12. This is a three-day intensive studio study of all aspects of getting water to look right in your painting. All mediums accepted, however demonstrations will be in oil. This will be a course for artists already experienced in their medium and have a desire to learn the how and why’s of painting water. Fee is $495. Visit tomnielsenfineart.com to see Tom’s art and learn more. December 8-10, join Katie D. Cundiff, well known impressionist artist and instructor at the Ringling School for three full days of painting in the Golden Isles. Discover the value of the “Apuntes”, creating small studies and taking notes with brush & paint. During this three day workshop, students will produce 8-10 small plein air sketches. Discover the importance of painting correctly while applying basic principles of better values, design, colors, composition and edges. Daily demonstrations, one-onone and group critiques. Students will go home with several finished oil and gouache sketches they can

then use to create larger pieces. Fee is $495. See Katie’s work at dobsonart.com. The 2017 workshop schedule includes many exciting classes too: January 26-28, Chris Groves, a classically trained painter who studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy, the Colorado Academy of Art, the Loveland Art Academy, the Cottonwood Art Academy and the Denver Arts Student League, teaches “Between Realism & Abstraction.” Students will bring their own reference material to paint from, whether it is a photograph or a small color sketch. Larry Moore will present “Abstraction/Intention 2017” on February 22-25. March will bring Kathy Anderson and “The Garden” and Laurel Daniel’s “Strong Starts – En Plein Air.” Gary Bodner will instruct on “Expressive and Loose” in the studio in April. Qiang Huang will teach still life in June. Other workshops will be added as the year progresses. For more information or to register for any of these workshops, visit andersonfineartgallery.com or stop by the gallery on Frederica Road. If you have artist friends, consider booking them a spot in one of the workshops as a holiday gift. Inspiring creativity is priceless!
