ECLIPSE PAIN AND RECOVERY:
A Comprehensive Approach to Pain Management
In the heart of Waxahachie, Eclipse Pain and Recovery, founded by Dr. Dustin Leek in 2021, is redefining the standards of pain management.
As a double board-certified pain management physician, Dr. Leek leads a dedicated team committed to improving function and reducing pain through innovative and personalized care. Since 2014, Dr. Leek has lived in and around Waxahachie, watched the community grow, and thrives on the connections he has built here. He now enjoys life in the country with his wife, Amanda, and three children. “I understand how pain can interfere with your life, your ability to work, to be a parent, or enjoy the things that matter most. Life is too short. That is why I love what I do, it is such a privilege to be a part of a team that helps people recover that purpose.” Says, Dr. Leek.
Eclipse Pain and Recovery’s mission is clear: to provide a whole-person-care approach that not only addresses the physical aspects of pain but also considers the emotional and psychological well-being of each patient. The clinic’s vision enriches the traditional experience of pain management by focusing on healthy living and integrating cutting-edge technology when necessary.
As part of this vision, the clinic is also developing Eclipse Brand, LLC, a line of products that includes CBD and natural supplements aimed at supporting patients in their recovery journey. “One problem is that many over-the-counter CBD products have THC in them and so by taking that a person might test positive for THC and ‘fail’ a urine drug screen,” Dr. Leek states. “We have CBD products with no THC and so folks can try them and rest assured that by doing so they won’t compromise their treatment plan…”
Located at 1006 Legacy Ranch Road, Suite 104, the clinic is well-equipped to offer a turn-key experience for its patients. With in-house diagnostics, including comprehensive lab services, electromyography, autonomic nervous system testing, and diagnostic X-ray services – in partnership with Eclipse Diagnostics
– patients can expect thorough assessments that lead to effective treatment regimens. Dr. Leek firmly believes, echoing the words of William Osler, that “It is more important to know what kind of patient has the disease than what kind of disease the patient has.” This philosophy underscores the clinic’s commitment to personalized care.
Eclipse Pain and Recovery features a state-of-the-art, 1,200 square foot outpatient physical therapy gym, designed to facilitate rehabilitation in a comfortable and supportive environment. Here, patients benefit from an interdisciplinary approach that fosters collaboration between therapists and physicians, optimizing the quality of care and enhancing treatment outcomes.
When it comes to treatment options, the clinic offers a variety of minimally invasive, same-day outpatient procedures that promise little associated downtime. These interventions include muscle and joint injections, platelet-rich plasma therapy, MLS laser therapy, epidural steroid injections, rhizotomy, spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and sacroiliac joint fusion (stabilization), among others. For patients requiring this type of direct medical intervention, these treatments are designed to quickly reduce pain while maintaining activity, allowing individuals to return to their daily lives without prolonged disruptions.
The clinic’s slogan, “to help our patients live more with less pain,” resonates with their staff and reflects their commitment to patient-centered care.
Whether it’s through innovative therapies or traditional methods, Eclipse Pain and Recovery strives to empower patients on their journey toward a more fulfilling life. The clinic’s dedication to patient care has not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by their high reviews on Google, where satisfied patients praise the compassionate staff and effective treatments.
For those seeking relief from chronic pain and improved quality of life, Eclipse Pain and Recovery stands ready to help. Interested individuals can reach the clinic at 469.290.7246 or visit their website at eclipseclinic.com for more information.

Spirit IN THE
WHEN I THINK ABOUT SPIRIT, I THINK OF THE PART OF ME THAT NO ONE SEES...it is the space where only God and I have access. Just like with our mind and body, it is important for us to focus on our spiritual health as well. For me, it’s the most important of all the areas we have and will discuss.
THE IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR YOUR SPIRIT In our fast-paced, crazy world, the idea of nurturing one’s spirit is becoming more of a topic people are searching for and want to better understand. In the earlier editions, we discussed caring for our bodies and minds, and now it’s time to focus on caring for our spirits, which plays a major role in achieving the balance we are on the journey to find.
YOUR SPIRIT Your spirit can be described as your “inner self,” or the core of your being, and includes your values, purpose, and inner strength. The spirit is our deeper self beyond the mind and body, influencing our reactions, decisions, and sense of peace. Unlike physical health, which can be measured by various tests, the state of our spirit is more abstract, but as important — and in my opinion, even more important!
WHY IS CARING FOR YOUR SPIRIT IMPORTANT? A well-nurtured spirit contributes significantly to emotional health, which allows us to be more prepared to manage stress, adversity, and life’s ups and downs. Some of the ways I nurture my spirit include prayer and meditation, mindfulness (fully being wherever I am), being myself, and having meaningful connections: The practice of spiritual care often includes prayer, mindfulness and self- awareness, which helps quiet the mind, reduces anxiety, and promotes a state of inner peace. Nurturing your spirit includes being authentic. When you understand and embrace who God created you to be (before the world told you who you were), you can give yourself permission to be authentically you. When you embrace who you are (quirks and all), and let your light shine, it gives others permission to do the same and opens the door to deeper, more genuine relationships.
Caring for the spirit is an important part of our overall wellbeing. It complements physical health and mental wellness, creating that balance we are journeying toward this year. (Is journeying even a word?!)
OF WEDDING SEASON
BY JULIE SIDES FARRAR
FOUR PRACTICAL WAYS TO CARE FOR YOUR SPIRIT...
1.Prayer, Gratitude & Mindfulness: Regular practices like writing in a gratitude journal, prayer, and spending time in nature, disconnected from devices, can help your spirit feel peaceful and centered (and allows space to hear from God).
2.Pursuing Passions: Engage in activities that resonate with your values and interests. Whether it’s art, music, volunteering, or any other passion, investing time in what you love nurtures your spirit.
3.Building Connections: Forming deep, meaningful relationships can enrich your spirit. I personally love my “Iron Sharpens Iron” friendships.
4.Self-Compassion: Practice kindness towards yourself. This goes back to being authentic. We are all uniquely made masterpieces. Appreciate (and celebrate) your strengths, acknowledge when you fall short, and most importantly, be good to yourself. I know I tend to judge myself in ways I would never judge another person, and I am trying to do better in this area.
INVEST IN YOU Caring for your spirit is top priority for a fulfilling and balanced life. By prioritizing your spiritual well-being, you are promoting resilience, purpose, and inner peace, which will improve your overall quality of life. When I don’t give my spirit the proper amount of attention, I am less patient and kind, and not my best self (big understatement.) Life can be a lot sometimes, so investing in the care of our spirit ensures that we stay true to the person God created us to be and live in alignment with the values He put in each of us. We are more than halfway through our time together this year, and I don’t know how it’s going for you, but it has been invaluable for me to spend time focusing on each of these pillars that are foundational for us in CORE Women. So far, we have covered Mind, Body, and Spirit. In the next issue, we will discuss the importance of Community. As always, I look forward to continuing the journey with you and our quest of seeking balance in our lives.
Until next time… -Julie

Bet-Mar Bookkeeping was founded by Beth Duran in 2011 as the brainchild of her and her mother, Martha Palmer, hence the name. Beth grew up in a household where her mother was the bookkeeper and treasurer for every extracurricular activity Beth could sign up for. Beth remembers countless hours sitting at the kitchen table with her, tallying up totals after multiple fundraisers. It only made sense that Beth would pursue accounting as well.
While working for a big-box tax preparer, Beth saw a need for accounting for small businesses within the Waxahachie community, and Bet-Mar Bookkeeping was born. What started in a spare room in her home is now a full-time office in downtown Waxahachie with five employees and two subcontractors ready to assist you with your accounting, tax preparation, and bookkeeping needs.
We understand that our clients are the lifeblood of our business. One of the biggest frustrations we hear from potential clients is the lack of communication from their previous bookkeepers. Therefore, we work to ensure that our level of service is exceptional. At Bet-Mar Bookkeeping, you can rest assured that your business's financial health and goals are our top priority.

Without aging myself, gone are the days of your boys meeting up at a pool hall to grab a drink and toast to your last night of being single. The saying “everything is bigger in Texas” definitely applies to bachelor and bachelorette parties in the Lone Star State.
These parties are now lasting days instead of hours, hence the term stag weekend: a weekend spent away as a celebration for a man who is about to get married. If I were to go back and have a do-over, I would do one or all of these bachelor worthy activities (but still marry the same wife, of course!)
Billy Bob’s Texas
I know, I know; it’s been done before, but nowhere else will you find a huge country music honky tonk with a live bullriding arena AND dozens of bars under one roof. It’s an OG famed classic that has hosted everyone from Miranda Lambert to Willie Nelson and even Johnny Cash. Recently I had the opportunity to smoke beef rib tacos, elotes and homemade smoked salsa for the headliner band, Silverada, previously known as Mike and the Moonpies. Nothing beats the energy of the Fort Worth Stockyards at night and LIVE music. If you find you and the boys craving some BBQ, check out nearby Panther City before the show.
Dove Hunting with El Dorado Outfitters
Talk about a weekend o’ fun. Grab the fellas for a trip across the border to the Hacienda San Vicente, the premier lodge on Lake Guerrero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. A private lodge, personal chef, hunting guides, and bird boys included. There is nothing like a field cook after a long day of hunting, we threw down on fresh dove shish kabobs and langostinos. After a long morning of hunting, you’ll be greeted by margaritas at the door before you hit the pool to cool off. Definitely a weekend you and the boys will never forget!
No matter what you decide to do, enjoy that last night (or weekend) of freedom and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Firestone & Robertson Distillery, the largest distillery west of the Mississippi, is located on the historic former grounds of the Glen Garden Country Club just southeast of downtown Fort Worth. Book a private distillery tour with tasting, hit up the ranch store for a personalized bottle of brown water, followed by cocktails in the TX Tavern. Depending on the day you may find Meat Therapy slinging BBQ, a new release experimental series bottle drop, live music, or classic movies out on the lawn. Oh, and don’t worry— no kids allowed!
MEGAN & GRANT
Forever Begins in Leonard, Texas...
BY
It's been a minute since I've attended a wedding, so it was very timely to kick off the annual wedding issue with a very special one on September 14th! I had never heard of Leonard, Texas, but I "wandered" out into the beautiful countryside about 35 miles northeast of McKinney to The Grand Ivory. Family and friends gathered for a faith-filled ceremony to celebrate the union of my beautiful niece, Megan, and her longtime sweetheart, Grant. Their weather-perfect big day was kissed farewell by a fiery sunset then we dined and danced the night away!
THE COUPLE
Grant and I met working at Sky Ranch Christian Camp in Van, TX! We both worked as lifeguards and spent many summers working out at Sky Ranch together. We started dating a year after meeting and have done long distance ever since. I attended Texas A&M and Grant went to Texas State— we would make trips to visit each other as often as we could. Grant never missed my sorority’s date parties! After 5 years of dating, he finally proposed on November 4, 2023 on a little retro boat on Lady bird Lake in Austin, TX. Our first order of business in planning a wedding was picking the venue— we chose The Grand Ivory! We both loved the little white chapel, looking out to a pond and could picture our family and friends gathering on our wedding day! The open cocktail hour space and the string lights over the gathering area also stood out to us, too. Our venue was everything we hoped for, but at the end of the day, all that mattered was that the Gospel was on display during our ceremony and that God was glorified in the midst of it all. We are eager and expectant of all that God will do in and through our marriage and feel so thankful knowing that our wedding day is only a glimpse into the way Christ loves the church!
Here's to Forever!

NICOLE & KYLE
THE COUPLE
We met during our senior year at Texas A&M! One Tuesday night, after a couple of glasses of wine, my best friend convinced me to download Tinder (not normally my thing, she even made my profile) for a fun girls night! I had no intention of meeting anybody, but then Kyle and I matched! He was the first (of very few men) that I swiped right on, but I couldn’t help but want to get to know him! He was in the Aggie band and Cavalry, and I was the biggest fan of the band. He probably marched past me hundreds of times before we met! We were immediately inseparable and spent nearly every day of our last three months of college together. I graduated and we spent 6 months dating long distance until he graduated, then we moved in together in Irving. Not long after, he brought me back to College Station under the guise of dinner with my best friend, the same one that led me to meet him, and proposed on a roof overlooking our favorite spot on campus!
FUN FACTS
We have a 3-legged cat that I adopted the day before I met Kyle! Willow Creek was the first and only venue we toured, we immediately fell in love with it, just like we did with Waxahachie.
KENNEDIE & GRAHAM
HOW WE MET
We met at Texas A&M University when my sister introduced me to Graham. We hit it off immediately and dated throughout college. On New Year's Eve, Graham proposed under an old oak tree on the family ranch.
THE WEDDING
In October, we were married at the family ranch under the canopy of an old oak tree surrounded by friends and family. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed appetizers, dinner, and a dessert bar of mini-cheesecakes and cupcakes made by Tiverton Bakeshop. I chose a naked cake design of white chocolate raspberry. The beautiful boho bridal bouquets were custom made by local florist Jennifer Misemer. The evening was capped off dancing under the Texas stars!
AMI & DANIEL
THE COUPLE
Daniel and I love Ellis County! He was raised in Waxahachie and we currently live here. Sharing some highlights of our special day!
FUN FACTS
We met online during Covid, had our first date at Top Golf, then our second date the day after that, and then we already knew we would be together forever! We got engaged in Palestine, Texas, on a ranch. He had a beautiful picnic waiting for me! We got married a year and a half later...last November in Mansfield, Texas.
PHOTOGRAPHER
THE COUPLE
I grew up in Midlothian and Nathan is from the Northeast. We met online in 2019 and got engaged in Dallas in February 2023. We both loved the Graily for its mix of vintage and modern styles. It was the most perfect venue to celebrate our love with our friends and family.
FUN FACTS
We’ll be welcoming our first child in December as we celebrate our one year anniversary. We’re so excited to be moving back to Ellis county to be closer to family and raise him here!
73 YEARS
of Love & Blessings!
The Prettiest Girl He Had Ever Seen...
Kenneth and Royann McCaig Farmer met as teenagers in the summer of 1950 at a party in Ennis where they had mutual friends. He then saw her again in September at the First Baptist Church in Ennis playing the piano, and he says that it was love at first sight! He was actually dating another girl that also attended First Baptist, but when he saw Royann again, he knew that she was the one for him. He will tell you that she was the prettiest girl that he had ever seen and the two began dating.
Married in Waxahachie...
The two dated for awhile and then decided to elope after Royann’s father was going to make them break up because Kenneth wanted to give Royann a promise ring. Kenneth decided that they could just go ahead and get married instead! They were married on July 26, 1951 by R.L. Raney, the minister at Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.
Even though Royann was only 15 years old at the time and felt that Mr. Raney was aware of her age, he did ask if her parents knew...but they actually did not know that she was getting married! CELEBRATING ONE OF ELLIS COUNTY'S
Life as a Couple...
After getting married in Waxahachie, they honeymooned in East Texas for a few days at Kenneth’s Aunt’s home in Grapeland. That decision began a life for the two of them that they could have never imagined. They lived in Bardwell for twelve years while Kenneth worked at Ennis Business Forms in Ennis, but he also farmed the Poff farm with his father right outside of Bardwell early in 1953. His dream was to farm full time, and he got the opportunity in 1963.
They worshiped at the Bardwell church of Christ and when fellow members Mr. and Mrs. Sutton wanted to sell their farm and move to town, Kenneth and Mr. Sutton made a business deal which entailed the Suttons moving to Bardwell into Kenneth and Royann’s newly built brick home, and Kenneth and Royann moving to the farm just west of Bardwell on highway 34. He began farming that land and many surrounding properties for the next thirty-four years until his retirement from farming in 1987. In 1978, they also purchased and operated a cotton gin that was in operation for several years.
Raising a Family...
Royann was a homemaker and was raising their four children throughout the years that Kenneth was farming. She worked a short time at the Bardwell Post Office as a clerk. Her 25-year career with Ennis ISD began when their youngest daughter was in junior high. She also worked as a special education aid at Travis Elementary, set up the library and was librarian at Bowie Elementary, and was the attendance clerk at Ennis High School for twenty one years.
Retirement & Enjoying Life!
Now married 73 years, they both enjoy retirement and spending time with their beautiful family that includes four children, 13 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. They still worship at the Bardwell Church of Christ, and have dedicated their lives to the congregation and being servants to the Lord. They will both tell you that they are some of the most blessed people on this earth.
"It is because of the Lord's blessings that we found other&each-have been able to share a beautiful life together!"

Our Wedding Reflections &Reception Trends
After 30 years in the catering business, I feel like I have lived through every trend imaginable when it comes to wedding receptions. When I first started in the business big lavish buffets were primarily what Texas brides wanted while most of the country opted for sit down dinners with smaller guest lists. My own Texas wedding in 1992 included 800 guests with a wedding cake that was almost six feet tall and buffet stations featuring Spanish paella and tossed to order Caesar salad. Today, trends are shifting away from following traditions and beginning to change towards more low-key events that are less over-the-top and more intimate. Couples are now wanting every part of their big day to be meaningful and to reflect their personalities. Even reception traditions such as cake cutting, bouquet and garter tosses, wedding favors and champagne toasts are being reinvented or skipped entirely. However, weddings should always be about whatever makes you happy!
TRENDS WE ARE SEEING...
Emphasis on the Guests
Forget planning the wedding for the photos. More and more the trend is towards making things easy and fun for wedding guests. Couples have become less focused on themselves as the center of attention and want guests to have a special experience. That means involving guests in the entire wedding weekend and bringing them into the fold rather than letting them stand by as a spectator. Audio guest books are taking on popularity as well as personalized favors for each guest.
Retro Revival
Couples seem to be leaning into the nostalgic and ethereal feel with antique china plates and floral tablecloths. Old school photo booths and polaroid cameras are a fun new twist. Vintage cakes piped with lots of heavy icing and delicate ruffles of buttercream are also popping up and ice sculptures are circling back around with a modern abstract look for displaying a raw bar or carving the couple's wedding logo. Champagne towers are another big retro trend— everything old is new again.
Interactive Culinary Stations
Chef assisted food stations have been popular for a while, but new ideas like a street corn station, Frito pies, fresh rolled sushi, southern biscuit bar and wood fired pizzas are some of the newer ideas we are getting requests for. Couples are also wanting dessert stations with a variety of mini pies, tarts, cookies, donuts, crepes, and ice cream sundaes.
Brunch Alternative
A wedding brunch is a great alternative and can be less expensive than serving a dinner. A beautiful display of fresh fruits, pastries, applewood bacon, maple blueberry sausages, mini quiches and Belgian waffle stations are becoming popular choices.
Mocktails
Specialized zero-proof beverage offerings are becoming popular as generational preferences shift. You can order a fancy mocktail or a non-alcoholic espresso martini at most bars these days, so why should you be stuck with just soda water and lime at a wedding?
Late Night Bites
As the evening winds down, surprise your guests with a latenight treat! They might not remember every bite of the main meal, but they will remember how they felt when those fun late-night bites appear. Chic food trucks with mini gourmet burgers, Raman noodles or exotic tacos are all popular options that are trending as guests soak up the night’s festivities. Root beer floats, snow cones, milk and cookies or a donut bar can also be a fun option to make sure to end things on a high note.
As you embark on one of the most enchanting journeys of your life, remember that you can curate a celebration that shows off your unique style without compromising on the luxury and elegance that define the most important day of your married life. So, indulge in the trends that speak to your heart, create unforgettable memories, and prepare for a prosperous and fulfilling life together!
