inalmente siamo ripartiti. È vero, ancora non abbiamo la libertà di un tempo ma è comunque tornata l'energia di qualche mese fa, prima che il mondo si fermasse. Siamo tornati operativi, il mondo è tornato operativo e questa è una bella notizia ma soprattutto una bella sensazione. Il mondo del design sta cavalcando l’onda della ripartenza, quella ripartenza che noi italiani siamo sempre stati abituati ad affrontare dopo i momenti difficili. HOME Italia non si è fermata: abbiamo lavorato a lungo per progettare il nuovo sito che presenterà più chiaramente quello che realmente siamo, ovvero una società di Project Contract & Communication (il nuovo pay off di HOME Italia). Il sito sarà online verso la metà di ottobre. La strada che stiamo percorrendo è quella giusta e ci sta dando molti risultati. Fare parlare i nostri clienti internazionali (costruttori, clienti privati e architetti) con un interlocutore unico, come avevamo pronosticato, è un grande valore aggiunto per loro: una ottimizzazione del loro tempo e una garanzia per la riuscita del progetto che ci affidano, dall'ideazione fino alla scelta dell’arredo. Per poi avere una visibilità internazionale attraverso i nostri canali, web e social, e sulle nostre riviste. Solo nell’ ultimo mese ci siamo aggiudicati 7 progetti: in Egitto, in India, a Doha, a Londra, in Sardegna, in Albania e in Cina. Tutti progetti che arrederemo insieme alle nostre aziende, in base agli stili richiesti dai nostri clienti. Si prospetta, nonostante il post Covid, un fine anno in crescita: quella crescita che ci aspettavano dopo tanti anni di duro lavoro e sacrifici. Come ho sempre detto e pensato, bisogna credere nei propri sogni per riuscire a realizzarli. E noi ci stiamo riuscendo. Luca Valle

e’re finally back. It is true, we still don't have the freedom of the past, but the energy of a few months ago, before the world stopped, has come back. We are back in the game, the world is running again and this is good news but above all a good feeling. The world of design is riding the wave of a restart, the one we Italians are used to face after difficult times. HOME Italia hasn't stopped, in fact we have been working for a long time to design the new site that will present more clearly what we really are: a Project Contract & Communication company (the new pay-off of HOME Italia). The site will be online in mid-October. The road we are taking is the right one and it is giving us many results. Making our international clients (builders, private clients and architects) talk to a single interlocutor, as we had predicted, is a great added value for them: an optimization of their time and a guarantee of the success of the project they entrust us with, from the conception of it to the choice of the furniture. To then have international visibility through our web and social channels and in our magazines. We won 7 projects in the last month alone: in Egypt, India, Doha, London, Sardinia, Albania and China. All projects that we will furnish together with our companies, according to the styles requested by our clients. In spite of the post Covid, we expect a growing end of the year: the growth awaiting us after so many years of hard work and sacrifices. As I have always said and thought, you have to believe in your dreams to realize them. And we’re succeeding in it. Luca Valle

Una casa ricca di colori che si armonizzano tra di loro diventa un rifugio e un luogo dove ritrovare sé stessi e entrare in sintonia con la natura che sta all’esterno, cercando in tutti i modi di farla entrare, non solo attraverso grandi vetrate e piante, ma anche cercando d i r icrea re

quelle atmosfere che ci hanno generato delle emozioni. Il colore diventa EMOZIONE. Colori profondi, accesi e luminosi che rievocano tempi lontani, ricordi di un viaggio, del mare, riescono a suscitare sensazioni diverse in ognuno di noi attraverso le loro infinite sfumature. Le tinte delle pareti, l’arredamento e l’illuminazione devono trovare un equilibrio per stimolare i sensi e suscitare benessere. Per questo il design oltre a creare le forme ha anche il compito di dare un tocco di colore alle nostre vite, alle nostre case. fter spending years building skyscrapers made of concrete and glass and increasingly minimal and aseptic environments, nature is insistently returning to our lives like a flooding river. The tendency to search for greenery, the earth, the outdoors is increasingly present and man is trying to bring it back into his life and even inside his homes. The white, empty and clean houses leave room for color as a sense of well-being. A house full of colors that harmonize with each other becomes a refuge and a place where you can find yourself and get in tune with nature outside, trying in every way to let it in, not only through large windows

and plants, but also trying to recreate those atmospheres that have generated emotions. Color becomes EMOTION. Deep, bright and bright colors that evoke distant times, memories of a journey, of the sea, can arouse different feelings in each of us through their infinite nuances. The colors of the walls, furniture and lighting must find a balance to stimulate the senses and arouse well-being. For this reason, design not only creates shapes but also has the task of giving a touch of color to our lives, to our homes. Una manifestazione che ha espresso il coraggio delle aziende scandinave pronte a rimettersi in gioco dopo la pausa del lockdown. Protagonista, oltre alla maestria della lavorazione del legno, il colore per rivitalizzare le case e dare energia allo spazio abitativo. Tra tutti, il progetto di Fritz Hansen, "A sense of Colour”: una nuova serie di colori, studiati insieme a Carla Sozzani, che rivestirà le loro icone. File Under Pop ha proposto invece, attraverso le parole di Josephine , una suggestione: piastrelle di ceramica dipinte a mano che richiamano i colori del Ghana, terra d’origine di Josephine Akvama

L'azienda Montana ne è un altro esempio: da sempre propone le sue sfumature di colore per creare mobili di carattere, dando la possibilità di mescolare le parti che li compongono in diversi colori a seconda dei propri gusti. O ancora la mostra di Kvadrat, "Knits": una serie di lavori di 28 designer internazionali che esplorano il potenziale dei tessuti Kvadrat Febrik. Tra le ambientazioni più suggestive, la casa realizzata da Getama con la collaborazione di Pierre Frey e dell’artista provocatore Marco Evaristi: un’esplosione di colore che trasmette energia e rivoluziona la percezione dello spazio.

An event that expressed the courage of Scandinavian companies ready to get back in the game after the lockdown break. The protagonist, in addition to the mastery of woodworking, was color to revitalize homes and give energy to the living space. Among others, Fritz Hansen's project, "A sense of Colour”: a new series of colors, studied together with Carla Sozzani, which will cover their icons. Fulcro del progetto è la Wine Library, luogo dal fascino quasi mistico che custodisce tutte le annate di “Luce”. Concepita come una biblioteca medievale in noce Canaletto, dal pavimento intarsiato al soffitto a cassettoni, è il luogo ideale per degustare questa interpretazione originale di Montalcino. n the heart of the Val d'Orcia, far from the frenzy of urban centres, there remains an intact and wild panorama: Montalcino. It is in this extraordinary land that this year Tenuta Luce celebrates the twenty-fifth harvest of "Luce", a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot with a unique personality. The new wine cellar, underground and in perfect harmony with the territory, perfectly embodies Lamberto Frescobaldi's dream. The fulcrum of the project is the Wine Library, a place with an almost mystical charm that guards all the vintages of "Luce". Conceived as a medieval library in Canaletto walnut, from the inlaid floor to the coffered ceiling, it is the ideal place to taste this original interpretation of Montalcino. And visit the new winery to discover its origin.

ex chiesa di Santa Rita di Amsterdam riapre al pubblico e diventa il secondo Bunk Hotel in Olanda. Progettato dall’architetto Alexander Kropholler e costruito negli anni ’20 del Novecento, l’edificio monumentale ospita oggi 107 camere e 52 pod privati. Le Bunk Room possono ospitare da 1 a 5 persone, mentre i pod -singoli o doppi- sono l’opzione più economica , senza però rinunciare alla privacy: una soluzione perfetta per chi viaggia con piccoli budget. Il progetto che ha riconvertito la chiesa -firmato dall'architetto Rob Salemans (Raumkultur) con il proprietario Robin Hagedoorn e una squadra di creativi olandesi- rispetta profondamente l'architettura originale: l’esterno è rimasto intatto così come gli archi in mattoni e la capriata in legno. Le camere del BUNK Hotel Amsterdam sono ricavate all’interno di blocchi bianchi che sembrano “galleggiare” nella struttura: un'isola di blocchi prefabbricati con pareti in HPL che è il cuore della struttura ricettiva. Per rendere onore alla storia della chiesa (bombardata nel 1943) è stato posto un monumento commemorativo a cielo aperto, e una biblioteca che accolga viaggiatori e gente

del posto. Tra le altre sezioni ricavate all’interno della navata, una scala segreta che conduce a una collezione di vinili e uno studio di registrazione/ stazione radio (Untold Radio). Una terrazza si affaccia sul quartiere Nord della capitale olandese. he former St. Rita's Church in Amsterdam reopens to the public and becomes the second Bunk Hotel in the Netherlands. Designed by architect Alexander Kropholler and built in the 1920s, the monumental building now houses 107 rooms and 52 private pods. The Bunk Rooms can accommodate from 1 to 5 people, while the pods - single or double - are the most economical option without sacrificing the privacy: a perfect solution for travelers on a small budget. The project that converted the church -signed by architect Rob Salemans (Raumkultur) with owner Robin Hagedoorn and a team of Dutch creatives- deeply respects the original architecture: the exte-

rior has remained intact as well as the brick arches and the wooden trusses. The rooms of the Bunk Hotel Amsterdam are carved out of white blocks that seem to "float" in the structure: an island of prefabricated blocks with HPL walls that is the heart of the accommodation. To honor the history of the church (bombed in 1943) an open-air memorial has been placed, and a library will welcome travelers and locals. Other sections inside the nave include a secret staircase leading to a vinyl collection and a recording studio/radio station (Untold Radio). A terrace overlooks the northern district of the Dutch capital. Bunk Hotel Amsterdam stands out

for its fun and functional spaces, with sustainability and technology as distinctive signatures: in the rooms there are top quality mattresses and ambient lighting system; in the bathroom high pressure showers to save water, organic shampoo and fair trade cotton towels; the check-in is done with an automated system, the Wi-Fi is free and fast for everyone, charging sockets and usb are located in every corner. architetto Maurizio Lai disegna con cura sartoriale un luogo in cui luci, colori e geometrie astratte delineano un linguaggio compositivo creativo e inatteso. Nel progetto del ristorante MOYA installazioni luminose e tagli geometrici ricorrono all’interno di un contenitore essenziale, costruendo un’identità inedita, lontano dall’immaginario collettivo di una ristorazione asiatica standardizzata. Maurizio Lai progetta il carattere e le funzioni di un luogo che in oltre 1000 metri quadrati trova occasione di sorprendere e rassicurare l’ospite, ridefinendo i classici canoni della ristorazione e accogliendo in spazi che rievocano il mondo dell’hospitality. L’uso sapiente della luce, segni artistici e effetti scenici ci racconta un’idea di futuro plausibile e accogliente. Il progetto di interior si sviluppa in un racconto materico, sensoriale e cromatico, che si articola nei diversi ambienti per coinvolgere ed amplificare la percezione visiva. La riconfigurazione architettonica dell’edificio preesistente si evidenzia con il progetto di facciata, in un processo di sottolineature e accenti svolto da elementi luminosi lineari, mentre ampie vetrate rendono permeabile lo spazio interno. L’ingresso La sinergia tra architettura, design e gesto artistico, che caratterizza il lavoro di Maurizio Lai, trova emblematica rappresentazione in una installazione luminosa all’ingresso del ristorante. Firma tridimensionale, stringa di energia fluida e rampicante che attraversa lo spazio, domina la hall sviluppandosi in altezza fino al piano superiore e introduce un tema di dinamismo e verticalità. A fare da quinta, una parete in vetro color verde smeraldo con una scansione verticale di punti luminosi. Superfici scure in specchio bronzato rivestono le pareti del vano scale riflettendo l’installazione all’infinito, dilatando lo spazio e la sua visione. Le installazioni luminose La grande sala centrale si caratterizza per una scansione regolare di stampe digitali, su lastre di policarbonato retroilluminato, che definisce un paesaggio essenzialmente acquatico. A contrasto con il calore dei rivestimenti lignei della sala, l’installazione a soffitto richiama le tonalità delle installazioni a parete, dove le luci disegnano su vetri policromi il senso di una perpetua aurora boreale. Complementi luminosi in vetro retroverniciato, caratterizzati da geometrie circolari, si trovano diffusi negli spazi di raccordo, accompagnando lo sguardo degli ospiti con la propria presenza. Gli spazi interni Moya è uno spazio inedito: illustra una nuova idea di contemporaneo tramite un’evocazione dei sensi e richiami al retrofuturismo filtrati dalla poetica visiva di Maurizio Lai. Gli spazi di degustazione, sviluppati su due piani, sono caratterizzati da un racconto cromatico che ai toni scuri dei rivestimenti contrappone elementi in vetro e tratti luminosi. La luce emerge come segno progettuale distintivo e i numerosi elementi progettati su misura amplificano l’esperienza visiva, combinando retroilluminazione, proiezione e illuminazione a incasso al rivestimento materico, ligneo e vellutato, oppure ceramico e vitreo. Il prospetto frontale della reception, in vetro accop-

piato arancione retroilluminato, intercalato da listelli in legno impiallacciato Alpi, anticipa una scansione metrica e materica che ricorre nelle boiserie, i separè, i banchi bar e sushi. I soffitti propongono il motivo della scansione geometrica su disegno, a effetto parametrico, declinata nei differenti ambienti con materiali diversi, scadenzati da effetti di luce soffusa. I pavimenti sono in gres effetto pietra, di Florim, panche e sedute hanno struttura in ferro verniciata a polvere, con rivestimenti in tessuto Elitìs. Nella sala al piano terra - che affaccia sul giardino privato attraverso un’ampia vetrata - le suggestioni naturali vengono amplificate dall’utilizzo del vetro, che Maurizio Lai sceglie per creare una sequenza di elementi separatori illuminati in costa. Le scansioni verticali sono usate per dividere lo spazio con un effetto prospettico diffuso, richiamando i toni acquei delle installazioni luminose a parete.

The Italian architect, scenographer and designer, Maurizio Lai designs with sartorial care a place where lights, colors and abstract geometries express an intensely creative compositional language. For Moya, a fusion cuisine restaurant, bright installations and geometric cuts recur within an essential container, building an unexpected identity model, far from the collective imagination of a standardized Asian eatery. Maurizio Lai devises the character and the functions of a place of over 1000 square meters, providing an opportunity to surprise and reassure the guest. The masterly use of light, evidently artistic signs and scenic effects describes a plausible and welcoming idea of the future.

The interior design is developed in a material, sensorial and chromatic narrative, divided into diverse environments to involve and amplify the visual perception. The architectural reconfiguration of the former building is highlighted by the facade design. A process of underlining and giving different accents is carried out by linear luminous elements, while oversized windows make the interior space permeable. The entrance The synergy between architecture, design and the artistic gesture, which characterizes Maurizio Lai’s work, expresses itself in a joyful light installation. A fluid and climbing light string that connects the space, a three-dimensional signature, introduces a theme of dynamism and verticality and dominates the hall, developing in height up to the second floor. The backdrop is an emerald green glass wall with a vertical scan of vivid spots. Dark-toned surfaces of bronzed mirrors cover the walls of the stairwell reflecting the installation indefinitely, expanding the space and its vision. The light installations The spacious principal dining room is embellished with a second installation. A regular scan of digital prints on backlit polycarbonate plates paints an essentially aquatic landscape, with shades that recall the color modulations on the walls, being at once in contrast with the warmth of the wooden paneling of the room. The horizontal sculpture interestingly communicates with the design project along the sidewalls, where a series of custom created lamps draws on polychrome glass the feeling of a perpetual Aurora borealis. Other luminous accessories in back-painted glass, spinning-off from this first sign, are widespread in the connected rooms, naturally accompanying with their presence the gaze of the guests.

The internal spaces Moya uniquely defines a modern space: it illustrates a novel idea of contemporary aesthetics, through the conjury of the senses and futurist references, filtered by Maurizio Lai’s visual poetics. The elegant dining rooms, developed on two floors, are carefully distinguished by a chromatic tale, that contrasts the deep tones of the coverings with crystal elements and luminous features. Softly diffused light emerges as a distinctive sign, shining through several custom-made fittings, to amplify the visual experience. Backlit surfaces, diffused projection and recessed lighting mix with the wooden and velvety coatings, as well as with the ceramic and glass coverings, for a fluid sensation. The front desk, in coupled orange backlit glass, interspersed with Alpi veneered wood strips, visually anticipates a metric and detailed scan that recurs in the wall claddings, the dividers, the bar and the sushi counters. The decorated ceilings propose the familiar motif of the geometric scanning, with a parametric flair, declined in the diverse environments with varied materials, punctuated by soft lighting effects. The seamless floors are in ceramic, with a stoneware effect, by Florim, benches and seats have a powder-coated iron structure, with Elitìs fabric coverings. In the secondary dining room on the ground floor — which overlooks the private garden through a generous window — the natural suggestions are amplified by the effective use of floating glass, which Lai chooses to generate a precise sequence of vertical dividers, illuminated on the coast. Thin vertical glass strips are conveniently used to whimsically divide the ample space with a diffuse perspective effect, voluntarily recalling the aqueous tones of the luminous installations on the side walls.

rogettate dallo studio messicano Francisco Pardo Arquitecto, le Ville Escondida si trovano a 50 metri dall’Oceano Pacifico, su una scogliera che domina la baia di Puerto Escondido (“Porto Nascosto”), in Messico. Rinomata per le sue spiagge selvagge e infinite, la zona è una delle attrazioni turistiche più venerate della costa di Oaxacan, che accoglie surfisti da tutto il mondo e attira una clientela sobria ed eclettica. Immerso nella vegetazione, il progetto rispetta l’ambiente rispecchiando la pendenza del sito con un’inclinazione tra i 20° e i 40°, attraverso una sequenza di gradini, rotazioni e patii intermedi. Viene stabilito un modello standard replicabile, che consente una vista a 180° e un’abbondante illuminazione naturale e ventilazione in ogni unità, grazie a un layout complesso e alternato che offre ai residenti un’esperienza unica. “Questa disposizione degli alloggi si adatta naturalmente alla topografia esistente. Le ville cercano di generare una simbiosi armonica tra l’architettura, l’Oceano Pacifico e gli abitanti, arricchita da straordinarie viste panoramiche sui dintorni”, afferma Francisco Pardo, fondatore dello studio. Il complesso è composto da 16 residenze di 150 mq, oltre alla terrazza, di 70 mq al livello inferiore. Nonostante l’alta densità abitativa, le residenze, incastonati in vari modi nella collina, sembrano più delle ville che degli appartamenti. Ogni unità è composta da due o tre camere da letto, un soggiorno e una sala da pranzo a pianta aperta e una terrazza privata - che incornicia l’idilliaco scenario e l’orizzonte-mare, garantendo la massima privacy attraverso gli estesi impianti strategicamente posizionati intorno ai suoi perimetri. Ogni appartamento dispone di una piccola piscina privata, e sui tetti più alti si trovano tre tipologie di aree comuni: a est (la più alta), un bar e un’area di riposo; al centro, la piscina principale con solarium; a ovest, una piscina più piccola per i bambini. La brezza dell’oceano, in sinergia con l’ombra fornita dai tetti a sbalzo e la ventilazione trasversale generata dalla terrazza e dalle pareti laterali, funge da sistema di raffreddamento passivo. All’interno, le abitazioni offrono uno spazio confortevole per rilassarsi e rifugiarsi dal sole. Il legno dai toni naturali avvolge gli interni squisitamente realizzati su misura, aggiungendo calore visivo e rafforzando il legame con il contesto naturale. Le Ville Escondida sono interamente costruite con una semplice struttura in cemento armato, pareti in blocchi, cemento, sabbia e lastre nervate. Questo sistema ha permesso la realizzazione di una costruzione flessibile e una struttura solida, resistente ai caratteristici terremoti che colpiscono la zona. I principali dettagli di finitura delle facciate esterne e degli interni sono realizzati con Chukun, appiattiti con cemento a sabbia fine e il suggestivo legno locale “Macuil”. Più che dominare il paesaggio, questo originale progetto, che degrada verso la spiaggia per catturare la brezza dell’oceano, vuole integrarsi nel sito ricoperto di vegetazione, sottolineando il legame dell’architettura con il suo ambiente naturale.

esigned by Mexican firm Francisco Pardo Arquitecto the Villas Escondida are located 50 meters from the Pacific Ocean, on a clifftop overlooking the bay of Puerto Escondido (“Hidden Port”), in Mexico. Renowned for its wild and endless beaches, the area is one of the most revered tourist attractions on the Oaxacan Coast, welcoming surfers from all over the world, and attracting a more low-key and eclectic clientele. Nestled in the vegetation, the project respects the environment by mirroring the slope of the site with its 20° to 40° incline, through a sequence of stepping, rotation and intermediate patios. A standard replicable pattern is established, enabling 180° views and plenty of natural light and ventilation in each unit, thanks to a complex and alternating layout that offers residents a unique experience. “This housing arrangement naturally adapts to the existing topography. The villas seek to generate a harmonic symbiosis between architecture, the Pacific Ocean and the inhabitants, enhanced by extraordinary panoramic views of the surroundings”, asserts Francisco Pardo, founder of the studio. plus the terrace, measuring 70 sqm on the lower level. Despite the high-density on site, the apartments, embedded into the hillside in various ways, feel more like villas than apartments. Each unit consists of two or three bedrooms, an open-plan living and dining room, and a private terrace – which frames the idyllic scenery and the sea-horizon, while guaranteeing maximum privacy through the extensive plants strategically placed around its perimeters. Each apartment has a small private swimming pool, and three types of common areas feature on the uppermost rooftops: to the East (the highest), a bar and rest area; in the center, the main swimming pool with a sundeck; and to the West, a smaller pool for children. The apartments are accessed through a system of natural pathways and two gardens that replicate the natural slope of the terrain and stretch down to the sea. The ocean breeze, in synergy with the shade provided by cantilevered roofs and the cross ventilation generated by the terrace and the lateral walls, provides passive cooling options. Inside, the units offer a comfortable place to relax and take refuge from the sun. Natural-toned wood wraps the exquisitely tailor-made interiors, adding visual warmth and reinforcing the connection to the natural context. Villas Escondida are entirely built with a simple structure of reinforced concrete, block walls, cement, sand and ribbed slabs. This system has permitted flexible construction and a solid structure, resistant to the characteristic earthquakes that affect the area. The main finishing details of the external facades and the interiors are made with Chukun, flattened with fine sand cement and the suggestive local “Macuil” wood. Rather than trespassing on the landscape, this original project that slopes down toward the beach to catch the ocean’s breeze, is intended to integrate into the site blanketed with vegetation, emphasizing the architecture’s connection to its natural setting.

a posizione ha avuto un’influenza significativa sul progetto di questa casa: un luogo con un’intensa storia geologica, situato alla base di un vulcano antico di ben tre milioni di anni. Il terreno su cui si trova la residenza è dunque composto da sedimenti vulcanici provenienti da antiche colate ed è disseminato di massi fino a 15 piedi di diametro. Non solo, il sito si trova anche in una foresta popolata da piniJeffrey Pine e abeti bianchi che, con le loro silhouette slanciate, rendono l’area immediatamente riconoscibile. Lo studio Faulkner Architects, che si è occupato della progettazione, ha studiato a fondo la storia del territorio per riuscire a inserire la casa nel modo migliore, senza disturbare la naturnatura che la circonda, con lo scopo di creare un paesaggio artificiale che si potesse integrare e mimetizzare all’interno del pendio su cui sorge. Per questo la forma della residenza segue il terreno rivelando inedite soluzioni strutturali e i materiali utilizzati riprendono, sia nell’estetica sia nella provenienza, l’origine del sito. Un esempio sono i vetri rosso-arancio, al suo interno, ispirati al colore del magma raffreddato e i cui riflessi si proiettano negli ambienti, donando loro calore. La residenza si sviluppa su più piani con una scala che connette visivamente i diversi piani e delinea il

All’ingresso il living con i suoi affacci spettacolari sul paesaggio, grazie alle grandi vetrate scorrevoli che permettono alla natura di estendersi all’interno della casa. “Abbiamo scelto di arredarlo con tonalità neutre e delicate così che la natura possa restare la vera protagonista”, spiegano gli architetti. Tra le particolarità, la suite padronale, posizionata nel punto più alto della casa, con una spettacolare vista panoramica sulla Valle del Martis. Richiami alle origini dell’area si ritrovano anche nei pavimenti in basalto vulcanico e nel legno di noce, proveniente dai vecchi frutteti della vicina Sierra pedemontana. Un’attenzione particolare è stata poi dedicata, in fase di progettazione, al risparmio energetico. Così le pareti in cemento armato, i pavimenti in pietra radiante, il tetto coibentato R80, i vetri ottimizzati e i sistemi di illuminazione ad alta efficienza, riducono al minimo l’utilizzo e la dispersione energetica. Anche la manutenzione dell’esterno, è minimizzata: la struttura è infatti progettata in cemento e acciaio, materiali ad alta resistenza che garantiscono, tra l’altro, un’elevata resistenza al fuoco.

he building site have had a significant influence on the house’s design: a place with an intense geological history, located at the base of a volcano three million years old. The ground on which the residence is located is therefore composed of volcanic sediments from ancient flows and is dotted with boulders up to 15 feet in diameter. Not only that: the site is also located in a forest populated by Jeffrey Pine and white firs that, with their slender silhouettes, characterize the area. The Faulkner Architects studio, which was involved in the design, studied the history of the area in depth in order to succeed in inserting the house in the best way possible, without disturbing the surrounding nature. , to create a built landscape well integrated and camouflaged within the slope on which it stands. It is for this reason that the shape of the building follows that of the ground revealing new structural solutions and the materials used take up, both in aesthetics and source, the origin of the site. An example of it is the red-orange glass on the inside, inspired by the color of cooled magma and whose reflections are projected into the environment, giving it warmth. ular views of the landscape, provided by the large sliding windows that allow the nature to penetrate inside the house. “We have chosen to furnish it with neutral and delicate color tones so that nature can remain the true protagonist of the house,” explain the architect. Among the special features is the master suite, located at the highest point of the house, with a spectacular panoramic view of the Martis Valley. References to the origins of the site can also be found in the volcanic basalt floors and walnut wood from the old orchards of the nearby Sierra foothills. Particular attention was then paid, during the design phase, to energy saving. Thus the reinforced concrete walls, the radiant stone floors, the R80 insulated roof, the optimized glazing and the highly efficient lighting systems reduce thus the energy use and dispersion to the minimum. In addition, the maintenance of the exterior is minimized: the structure is in fact designed in concrete and steel, high resistance materials, that ensure, among other things, high fire resistance.

o studio lsacco Brioschi Architects ha identificato la linea, archetipo comune tra arte e architettura, come chiave di lettura per la progettazione di questo spazio, dove vive un collezionista d’arte. Attraverso questo simbolo grafico, gli ambienti vengono così organizzati e riordinati, a creare l’effetto di una grande cornice pronta ad accogliere le opere d’arte dil proprietario di casa. Cuore della casa, la grande zona giorno al primo livello: un triplo salone in cui le diverse funzioni convivono grazie a un sistema di porte scorrevoli da aprire e chiudere all’occorrenza, un gioco progettuale che rende gli ambienti dinamici e in cui l’arte diventa l’assoluta protagonista. Queste grandi porte scorrevoli a scomparsa, rivestite con una carta da parati in lino e percorse da geometrici profili in metallo che richiamano gli stessi profili presenti alle pareti, sono anche caratterizzate, al centro, da un’apertura rettangolare che, oltre a fare da maniglia, consente di intravedere un particolare dell’altra stanza, anche quando la porta viene chiusa.

Dalla scala a chiocciola in metallo, con gradini in pasta di cemento, posta accanto all’ingresso e realizzata su disegno dell’architetto, si accede a un living destinato all’intimità della vita famigliare, caratterizzato anch’esso dalla presenza di opere d’arte: qui un grande terrazzo regala luce e profondità agli ambienti, senza soluzione di continuità tra esterno e interno. Sullo stesso piano, la camera da letto caratterizzata dai controsoffitti con le fasce perimetrali interne dipinte in quattro colori che donano effetti cromatici e prospettici differenti a seconda della posizione di chi li osserva. Un escamotage visivo che rende dinamico e inaspettato lo spazio.

he studio lsacco Brioschi Architects has identified the line, a common archetype of art and architecture, as the key to the design of this space, where an art collector lives. Through this graphic symbol, the rooms are thus organized and rearranged, to create the effect of a large frame ready to accommodate the works of art of the home owner. Heart of the house, the large living area on the first floor: a triple living room where the different functions coexist thanks to a system of sliding doors to be opened and closed when necessary, a design game that makes the rooms dynamic and where art becomes the absolute protagonist. These large retractable sliding doors, covered with linen wallpaper and covered with geometric metal profi les t hat recal l t he ones on t he walls, are also characterized, in the center, by a rectangular opening that, in addition to acting as a handle, allows a glimpse a detail of the other room, even when the door is closed. The spiral staircase in metal, with concrete paste steps, placed next to the entrance and designed by the architect, gives access to a living room destined to the intimacy of family life, also characterized by the presence of works of art: here a large terrace gives light and depth to the rooms, seamlessly between exterior and interior. On the same floor, the bedroom is characterized by false

ceilings with internal perimeter bands painted in four colors that give different cromatic and perspective effects depending on the position of the observer. A visual conceit - that makes the space dynamic and unexpected.

appartamento è di proprietà di un grande appassionato di arte contemporanea pertanto la ristrutturazione curata da Andrea Castrignano è stata pensata per valorizzare la collezione di opere attraverso soluzioni studiate ad hoc, una riorganizzazione razionale degli spazi e l’inserimento di tecnologie di ultima generazione funzionali e in sintonia con lo stile di vita e i gusti del proprietario. La cucina a vista e aperta sul soggiorno è stata ampliata così da conferire un maggior respiro alla zona living. Al posto della camera da letto è stato realizzato un grande bagno padronale: una soluzione che ha permesso di creare una cabina armadio passante e una stanza da letto importante, sacrificando una seconda camera più piccola e inutilizzata. Nel nuovo bagno padronale l’ampio box doccia, con doppio soffione e piatto doccia realizzato su misura, è stato reso speciale da un gioco di luci led RGB. Completa la disposizione degli spazi un piccolo bagno di cortesia con colonna per lavatrice e asciugatrice. L’illuminazione è l’elemento fondamentale che ha trasformato l’appartamento in una sorta di galleria privata per valorizzare la collezione d’arte contemporanea. Per il living sono stati scelti dei binari a incasso con faretti a led calamitati – facili da spostare all’occorrenza – e una sospensione decorativa a nuvola, mentre per la cabina armadio si è optato per dei tagli di strip led a soffitto che proseguono anche a parete: una soluzione semplice e lineare, ma anche ad alto impatto scenografico. A livello cromatico è stato scelto un bianco per le pareti così da creare un ambiente neutro che possa dare grande risalto ai cromatismi delle opere d’arte esposte in tutta la casa. Laccature bianche anche per i mobili su misura e per la porta blindata con finitura pantografata, e bianco color cotone per i sanitari dei bagni, caratterizzati da un taglio minimal e squadrato. Segue lo stesso mood anche la nuova cucina dalle linee pulite ed essenziali esaltate da luci a led che sottolineano il profilo inferiore degli arredi. Infine, nel bagno padronale alcuni dettagli in essenza dialogano perfettamente con il parquet. Il sistema domotico integrato comprende: la motorizzazione delle tapparelle, l’accessione-spegnimento e la regolazione dell’intensità dell’illuminazione (utile anche per programmare vari scenari di luce che possano valorizzare la collezione d’arte), l’antifurto, il controllo dei carichi di consumo energetico della casa e il videocitofono: tutto è controllabile da remoto anche tramite smartphone.

he apartment is owned by a contemporary art lover, so the Andrea Castrignano restructuring project was designed to enhance his artwork collections through ad hoc solutions, a rational rearrangement of the spaces and the inclusion of latest functional technologies that fits the owner’s lifestyle and taste. The open kitchen has been enlarged in order to make the living area appear wider. In place of bedroom, a large master bathroom was created: a solution that has made it possible to create a walk-through closet and a larger bedroom, in place of a second smaller and unused one. In the new master bathroom, the large shower box with double rain shower and custom-made shower tray, has been made special by a play of LED RGB lights. The layout of the spaces is completed by a small courtesy bathroom with a column for washing machine and dryer. Lighting is the key element that has transformed the apartment into a sort of private gallery enhancing the contemporary art collection. For the living room, recessed tracks with magnetized LED spotlights - easy to move when needed - and a decorative cloud shaped suspension were chosen, while for the walk-through closet the choice fell on a led strip lights on the ceiling that also continues along the wall: a simple and linear solution, but with a high visual impact. At a chromatic level, the pure white color chosen for the walls creates a neutral environment that gives great emphasis to the hues of the works of art exhibited throughout the house. White lacquering was chosen also for the custom-made furniture and for the armored door with pantographed finishing; cotton white color for the sanitary ware, differentiated by a clean-cut minimal design. The same mood is maintained for the new kitchen with clean and

essential lines enhanced by LED lights that emphasize the lower profile of the furnishings. Finally, in the master bathroom some wood details dialogue perfectly with the parquet. The integrated home automation system includes: shutters motorization, switch on-off and adaptation of light intensity (also useful to create customized lighting scenarios that can highlight the art collection), the home alarm, the energy consumptions monitoring and the video door entry unit: everything can be controlled remotely even via smartphone.

ream Lake 355N Villa rappresenta l’interpretazione contemporanea della grandezza della dinastia Song. Ispirandosi all’architettura classica imperiale, la forma e i colori rappresentano un perfetto connubio tra l’eredità del passato e il minimalismo moderno: un omaggio alla tradizione che si trasforma in una residenza di lusso. La preziosità dell’architettura viene esaltata dalla scelta raffinata dei materiali: eleganti pietre si abbinano a diversi tipi di piastrelle a formare un armonico contrasto che caratterizza la casa. Tanti gli interventi che caratterizzano gli ambienti, come i coloratissimi fiori smaltati, le grandi lacche artistiche e le ceramiche della dinastia Song, oltre al “Jing Chun Tu” (Pittura della Splendida Primavera)” di Giuseppe Castiglione, e la replica di “Crane Crane” (Pittura delle Gru di buon auspicio). L’intento del designer è stato infatti quello di fondere scene del passato con la realtà presente, cercando di trasmettere la maestosità dell’Impero attraverso un design moderno che non dimentica le proprie radici. Così alcuni dettagli, come il soffitto a lamine d’oro o le texture preziose dei tessuti si abbinano a mobili dalle tonalità beige e a piccoli motivi geometrici che trasmettono l’eleganza del nuovo design che arriva dalla Cina. Oltre alle scale c’è l’affascinante lampadario di 10 metri, con dischi fluttuanti rivestiti di lamine d’oro, una moderna interpretazione della lanterna. La combinazione di colori del boudoir è invece corallo e turchese chiaro e accompagnata dalle opere d’arte di Jia Xiaoou, La sala da tè al piano ammezzato si riempie di serenità e semplicità: il tavolo lungo 3 metri è accompagnato da squisiti servizi da tè, incensieri e composizioni floreali. rilassarsi ritrovando le energie. La sala per la famiglia non presenta divisori per distinguere le diverse aree funzionali, per condividere l’ambiente senza costrizioni. Un’operazione complessa che si è ispirata alle parole che Fan Tiwen, della dinastia Song, ha scritto nella prefazione di “Virtualità”: “Non prendete il vuoto come un vuoto, ma prendete la realtà come un terreno immaginario. Esplorate ogni pennellata del quadro scenico all’interno dei vostri sentimenti, dall’inizio alla fine. I cambiamenti della natura non si fermano mai, come il flusso delle nuvole. Questa è la parte più difficile da comprendere”.

ream Lake 355N Villa represents the contemporary interpretation of the greatness of the Song Dynasty. Inspired by classical imperial architecture, the shape and colours represent a perfect combination between the legacy of the past and modern minimalism: a tribute to tradition that turns into a luxury residence. screens and Dongyang leather and wood carvings that recall the tradition. Chinese culture is also expressed in the colours, the Forbidden City Red and the Imperial Yellow, which give warmth to the rooms and, at the same time, convey the magnificence of imperial history. There are many interventions that characterize the rooms, such as the colourful enamelled flowers, the great artistic lacquers and ceramics of the Song Dynasty, as well as the “Jing Chun Tu” (Painting of the Splendid Spring) by Giuseppe Castiglione, and the replica of “Crane Crane” (Painting of the Auspicious Cranes). The purpose of the designer was in fact to blend scenes from the past with the present reality, trying to convey the majesty of the Empire through a modern design that does not forget its roots. And thus some details, such as the gold leaf ceiling and the precious textures of the fabrics are combined with beige coloured furniture and small geometric patterns that convey the elegance of the new design coming from China. In addition to the stairs there is the fascinating 10-metre chandelier, with floating discs covered in gold foils, a modern interpretation of the lantern. The boudoir’s colour scheme is coral and light turquoise and accompanied by works of art by Jia Xiaoou. The tea room on the mezzanine floor is filled with serenity and simplicity: the 3 meter long table is accompanied by exquisite tea sets, incense burners and flower arrangements. A perfect place to get together and relax while regaining energy. The family room has no dividers to separate the different functional areas, so that it results in a shared environment without constraints. The Dream Lake 355N Villa is the result of a a complex operation inspired by the words that Fan Tiwen, from the Song Dynasty, wrote in the preface to “Virtuality”: “Don’t take void as emptiness, but take reality as imaginary grounds. Explore every brush of the scenic painting with your feelings, from beginning to end. Nature changes never stop, like the flow of clouds. This is the most difficult part to comprehend”.

L’

appartamento (a Tel Aviv) è stato progettato per una coppia e i loro tre figli. La porta d’ingresso blu acceso si apre svelando un terrazzo e un cortile interno che collegano i due blocchi della casa, i cui ambienti si intravedono attraverso grandi vetrate. La sensazione offerta dallo spazio domestico è di ariosità e leggerezza, ottenute da pareti in vetro che contrastano con la parete a nord, sulla quale si ergono due alti e scuri mobili da cucina, e la parete a sud del soggiorno rivestita da sottili piastrelle scure in cui è ricavato un camino. Al centro è situato un ampio angolo per la zona pranzo. La cucina Modulnova è definita da alti pensili in grafite nera con frigorifero e forno nascosti dalle colonne. Parallelamente è disposta un’importante isola di 4 metri, con piano cottura e lavabo integrato in pietra, circondata da sedute. L’angolo pranzo, parallelo alla cucina, è delimitato da un grande tavolo in legno chiaro che crea un’atmosfera di accogliente convivialità.

Per la zona living sono stati scelti divani color crema e poltrone nella tonalità caramello a cui fa da pendant un morbido tappeto dai toni chiari. Tre sistemi di illuminazione accompagnano le tre aree della zona giorno e predominano sul soffitto in legno bianco e sulle pareti in vetro: un delicato fascio di illuminazione sospeso sopra l’isola della cucina, tre lampade a sospensione in ottone di Flos illuminano l’angolo pranzo e un lampadario in ottone di Moooi è appeso al centro del soggiorno. La parte più privata della casa si sviluppa su tre piani collegati da una scala in legno di quercia affumicato e da un ascensore. A piano terra si trova l’ala riservata ai genitori, composta da una spaziosa suite con un grande letto, un piccolo salotto e un angolo cottura. Lo spazio guardaroba conduce al bagno rivestito da sottili piastrelle di scisto nero. La pavimentazione del bagno è in Corten a enfatizzare il contrasto con la vasca free-standing

Le camerette dei bimbi sono al primo piano: ogni bambino ha una suite a due piani costituita da una zona notte con ampio letto e scrivania, mentre al piano inferiore il bagno e un’area gioco da condividere con gli amici. Scale in legno collegano i due piani di ogni suite. Il cortile è in travertino chiaro che enfatizza la piscina e la vasca idromassaggio rivestite in pietra rosa del Guatemala le cui sfumature verdi mutano durante il giorno in base ai raggi solari.

he flat (in Tel Aviv) was designed for a couple and their three children. The bright blue front door opens unveiling a terrace and an inner courtyard that connect the two blocks of the house, visible through enormous glass windows. Inner spaces are light and airy thanks to the glass walls that contrast with the north wall, on which two tall and dark kitchen cabinets are placed, and the south wall of the living room covered with thin dark tiles with a fireplace inside. In the central area, there is a large corner reserved for dining. The Modulnova kitchen is defined by high black graphite hanging panels with a refrigerator and an oven hidden by the columns. In front of that, there is an important 4-meter island-kitchen, with an integrated stone hob and sink, surrounded by seats. The dining corner, in

front of the kitchen, is delimited by a large light wood table that creates an atmosphere of welcoming conviviality. For the living area Nurit Geffen chose cream-colored sofas and caramel shades armchairs, paired with a soft and light-tones carpet. For these three living-areas, there are three predominant lighting systems on the white wooden ceiling and on the glass walls: a delicate band of lighting fixtures hangs above the kitchen island, three hanging brass lights, by Flos, illuminate the dining corner and a brass chandelier, designed by Moooi, hangs in the center of the living room. The most private part of the house is made up of three floors connected by a smoked oak staircase and an elevator. On the entrance floor is the parental wing, consisting of a spacious suite with a king size bed, a small living room and a kitchenette. The wardrobe area leads to the bathroom covered in thin black schist tiles. The bathroom floor is made in Corten steel to emphasize the contrast with the modern look of the free-standing bathtub. in this wing there are also a study room and an elegant guest bathroom. In the basement there are a cinema room, an air-raid shelter and other service rooms. The children’s bedrooms are on the first floor: each child has a two-story suite consisting of a sleeping area with a large bed and a desk, while on the lower floor there are the bathroom and a play area to share with friends. Wooden stairs connect the two floors of each suite. The yard of the house is in light-colored travertine which emphasizes the swimming pool and the jacuzzi faced with pink Guatemalan stone which alters its green shades according to the changing sun rays.

RESPECTING TRADITION XIE TIAN

Il lago occidentale di Hangzhou è un lago naturale di grande importanza culturale in Cina. Dragato per più di mille anni per ricavare il materiale per costruire le strade rialzate, i templi, i palazzi, i padiglioni e le torri che sorgono nell’area circostante, è diventato un luogo importante sia per la presenza di siti storici che per il bellissimo paesaggio. Questo luogo è infatticonosciuto come il “paradiso terrestre”: qui sono nate leggende e poesie famose, diffuse in tutta la Cina. In questo contesto misterioso e pieno di storia, all’interno della Mingyue Tower, sorge la casa ideata dal designer Xie Tian. Lo stile che la caratterizza può essere definito tibetano: nelle tonalità del bianco, la purezza e la semplicità si respira in ogni ambiente. Il designer Xie Tian che si è occupato del progetto degli interni, ha deciso di arredarla seguendo i principi di questo stile in accordo con i desideri dei proprietari. Così gli ambienti si snodano gli uni dentro gli altri accompagnati da pannelli traforati che ospitano simboli e oggetti dal fascino orientale. Un involucro che avvolge gli ambienti donando serenità ed eleganza alla casa. L’intervento del progettista, Xie Tian, è stato quello di rafforzare la parte strutturale dell’edificio collocando tutti gli impianti necessari e studiando una forma che potesse nasconderli senza alterare la struttura originale. Gli schermi reticolari, le scale, le ringhiere, i parapetti, i muri in cemento presenti nella struttura sono stati restaurati e decorati con vernice grigia. I colori dai toni grigi alle calde sfumature della terra, si accendono al piano superiore dedicato alla famiglia con blu e rossi brillanti ad animare gli ambienti più privati.

he western lake of Hangzhou is a natural lake of great cultural importance in China. For more than a thousand years it has been dredged to build the causeways, the temples, the palaces, the pavilions and the towers that rise in the area: it has become a well-known place both for the presence of historical sites and for the beautiful landscape. This place is in fact called “the heaven on Earth”: here famous myths and poems were born, then spread all over China. In this mysterious context teeming with history, inside the Mingyue Tower, stands the house designed by designer Xie Tian. The style that characterizes it can be defined Tibetan: white toned, the purity and simplicity can be breathed in every room. The designer Xie Tian, who was in charge of the interior design, decided to furnish it following the principles of this style in accordance with the wishes of the owners. The rooms unfold one inside another along with perforated panels housing symbols and objects with oriental charm. An envelope that wraps the rooms giving serenity and elegance to the house. The intervention of the designer, Xie Tian, was to strengthen the structural part of the building by placing all the necessary systems and studying a shape that could hide them without altering the original structure. The reticular screens, staircases, railings, parapets and the concrete walls in the space were restored and decorated with grey paint. The colours, from the grey tones to the warm earth tones, light up on the upper floor dedicated to the family with bright blues and reds to animate the more private rooms.

L’

attico occupa il quarto e il quinto piano di un palazzo ristrutturato nel 2008. I lavori, realizzati dall’impresa e agenzia immobiliare The Great Living Estate, guidata dal giovane imprenditore Manuel Tenca, sono terminati 4 anni fa. Inizialmente l’appartamento era suddiviso in numerose stanze, ma il proprietario ha deciso di abbattere tutti i muri realizzando un immenso bilocale di 550 mq, pronto per essere trasformato in uno splendido attico open-space. Si è optato per l’utilizzo di un legno estremamente naturale (un rovere del 1300), ferro, vetro e pelle nabuk. I colori utilizzati sono soltanto tre: bianco, marrone e il grigio scuro del ferro. L’obiettivo era quello di realizzare un tetto con vetrate in modo tale che i materiali dell’interno si sposassero con la natura e il paesaggio circostante. La casa è un perfetto esempio di stile moderno alpino ed è estremante flessibile: grazie alle pareti mobili è possibile suddividere l’open space, creando tre camere in più con i loro bagni indipendenti. La camera padronale misura 140 mq ed include un piccolo salotto, doppi bagni, due cabine armadio e un living studio: il tutto coronato da una vista mozzafiato sull’esclusiva St. Moritz. Perfetta per i momenti di convivialità, la cucina è attrezzata con un ampio bancone che, una volta aperto, rivela la zona lavoro. A disposizione degli ospiti due chef stellati, per delle vere e proprie esperienze culinarie. L’attico offre inoltre due spaziose terrazze: quella principale, di 220 mq, include una Jacuzzi da sei persone fronte lago, la seconda, di 80 mq, si affaccia sulle montagne del Corvatsch. The Great Living Estate ha progettato questa meravigliosa struttura di lusso e disegnato tutti gli arredi interni, realizzati su misura da artigiani locali.

he penthouse occupies the fourth and fifth floors of a building renovated in 2008. The work, carried out by the real estate company and agency The Great Living Estate, led by young entrepreneur Manuel Tenca, was completed 4 years ago. Initially, the flat was divided into several rooms, but the owner decided to knock down all the walls creating a huge two-room apartment of 550 sqm, ready to be transformed into a beautiful open-space penthouse. Regarding materials, an extremely natural wood (an oak from 1300), iron, glass and nubuck leather were opted for. Only three colors are used: white, brown and the dark grey of the iron. The aim was to create a roof with glass windows so that the materials of the interior would blend in with nature and the surrounding landscape. The house is a perfect example of modern alpine style and is extremely flexible: thanks to the mobile walls, the open space can be divided so that it results in three more rooms equipped each with a private bathroom. The master bedroom measures 140 sqm and includes a small living room, two bathrooms, two walk-in wardrobes and a living studio, while sorrounded by a breathtaking view of the exclusive town of St. Moritz. Perfect for moments of conviviality, the kitchen is equipped with a large counter which, once opened, reveals the work area. At guests’ disposal, two starred chefs, for extraordinary culinary experiences. In addition, the penthouse offers two marvellous terraces: the main one, measuring 220 sqm, includes a six-person Jacuzzi facing the lake, the second one, measuring 80 sqm, overlooks the Corvatsch mountains. It is a project carried out by The Great Living Estate that also designed the interior furnishings, custom made by local craftsmen.

“A

ndiamo a Tremezzo, quel luogo felice e pieno di sole” diceva Greta Garbo in una scena di Grand Hotel, uno dei suoi film più famosi. Nel 1932, quando il film fu girato, il Gran Hotel Tremezzo era già diventato una meta di moda, esclusiva ed elegante. Costruito nel 1910 sulla sponda occidentale del Lago di Como, in posizione panoramica di fronte ai monti della Grigna, incantò non solo ‘la divina’ (la sua stanza preferita porta ancora il suo nome) ma anche scrittori e artisti, oltre a molte famiglie blasonate italiane e straniere. Oggi, nonostante siano trascorsi 110 anni dalla sua apertura, è ancora un luogo speciale, annoverato fra i 100 alberghi più belli del mondo. “L’idea vincente è stata quella di non tradire mai quell’atmosfera Belle Epoque che ne ha decretato la fortuna”, ci spiegano allo studio Venelli Kramer, che da anni segue con passione il restyling dell’Hotel. “ Un principio che ha guidato una serie di recenti interventi intesi a rendere ancora più ricca l’offerta di ospitalità e di servizi. Per esempio, il rinnovo della ‘T Beach’, la spiaggia che si affaccia sul lago e si collega alla piscina flottante. Il progetto si è ispirato alle forme morbide e arrotondate dell’architettura Liberty e ha riproposto lo storico orange dell’hotel nel decoro degli ombrelloni. “Naturalmente, a livello costruttivo, sono state utilizzate tecnologie d’avanguardia per garantire la sostenibilità e la salvaguardia del paesaggio,” chiariscono gli architetti. “La spiaggia è stata completamente ‘montata a secco’ su una struttura a palafitta già esistente, ma rinforzata e ampliata. In particolare, la lounge-bar con ristorante e le due maxi cabine rotonde che ospitano i bagni, sono state realizzate con leggeri moduli prefabbricati e, portate in loco completamente accessoriate, sono facilmente removibili in caso di necessità”.

Soluzioni light sono state adottate anche nella progettazione, sempre a firma dello studio Venelli Kramer, in collaborazione con l’architetto Donata De Santis, delle nuove suite ricavate in un sopralzo dell’edificio, che regalano agli ospiti una vista mozzafiato. In altre aree dell’hotel, gli interventi hanno giocato sul contrasto tra ambienti storici e spazi di taglio contemporaneo, con effetti di forte impatto. Così nella settecentesca Villa Emilia, adiacente all’hotel, si trova ora un’ampia Spa (oltre mille metri quadrati) dove affreschi e mosaici sono stati restituiti all’antico splendore, mentre una nuova piscina termale dal design minimale si affaccia sul paesaggio lacustre con vetrate apri-e-chiudi. E nel nuovo Escale Trattoria & Wine Bar una lunga finestra a nastro ritaglia lago e montagne: una sorta di quadro vivente che muta con il passare delle ore e delle stagioni. Stessa soluzione per la cucina dell’Hotel, dove gli chef preparano i famosi piatti del ‘maître’ Gualtiero Marchesi (è l’unico ristorante al mondo che propone il menu stellato del cuoco milan-

By 1932, when the film was shot, the Grand Hotel Tremezzo had already become a fashionable and exclusive destination. Built in 1910 on the western shore of Lake Como, in a unique position facing the Grigna mountains, it enchanted not only the ‘divina’ (her favorite room still bears her name), but also writers and artists, not to mention many of the most famous Italian and foreign families. hotel for years. And this principle has guided a series of very recent interventions aimed at making the offer of hospitality and services even richer. For example, the renewal of the ‘T Beach’, the beach overlooking the lake and connected with the floating swimming pool. The project has been inspired by the soft and rounded forms of Liberty architecture and has revived the historic orange of the hotel in the decor of the umbrellas. “Of course, on a constructive level, the intervention used cutting-edge technologies to ensure sustainability and safeguard the landscape “, the architects explain. “The beach, in fact, has been completely ‘dry mounted’ on an already existing pile-dwelling structure, which we reinforced. The enlargements, like a new bar-restaurant and the two maxi round cabins which house the bathrooms, were made with lightweight prefabricated modules and brought on site fully equipped. They can be easily removed in case of need.” Light solutions have also been adopted by the Venelli Kramer studio, in collaboration with architect Donata De Santis, in the design of new rooftop suites, created in an elevation of the building, which offer guests a breathtaking view. In other areas of the hotel, the interventions played on the contrast between historic environments and contemporary spaces, with impressive effects. Thus, the eighteenth-century Villa Emilia, close to the hotel, now hosts a large Spa (over a thousand square meters) where frescoes and mosaics were restored to their former glory. A new minimal design thermal pool overlooks the lake thanks to sliding windows. In the new Escale Trattoria & Wine Bar a long ribbon window frames the lake and the mountains: a sort of living picture that changes with the passing of the hours and the seasons. The same solution for the kitchen of the Hotel, where the chefs prepare the famous dishes of the ‘maitre’ Gualtiero Marchesi (it is the only restaurant in the world that offers the starred menu of the Milanese chef), being inspired by the beautiful landscape of Manzoni’s memory.

l rinnovamento del primo piano di Villa de Castelletta, villa ottocentesca locata nelle campagne fermane, è stato fatto nel rispetto del patrimonio esistente, per creare continuità tra il passato e il futuro. La richiesta della committenza era di ricavare due appartamenti in chiave ‘relais’. Abbiamo voluto rendere visibile la distinzione degli appartamenti utilizzando il colore, mantenendo una visione univoca generale. Proprio per non dimenticare la storicità della residenza, abbiamo creato un concept che tenesse in considerazione gli elementi del contesto ambientale che circondano il luogo; dalle colline tipiche di questa zona delle Marche, passando ai colori del cielo e delle essenze caratteristiche del luogo. Ne è venuto fuori un progetto che alterna degli elementi univoci e riconoscibili a delle variazioni dei singoli “ingredienti” che determinano la visione generale e particolare degli ambienti. Mantenendo intatte le murature portanti storiche, abbiamo sviluppato una serie di nuovi ambienti moderni e minimali, caratterizzati da una linea continua e materica che insieme con il pavimento in legno a spina italiana, conferiscono unità ed unicità al progetto. Invece, tramite le variazioni cromatiche si crea la identità dei due appartamenti: i colori scelti come protagonisti delle abitazioni provengono dai colori della natura, ‘l’azzurro’ è il tono che rimanda all’acqua e al cielo mentre il ‘terra’ ricorda il colore della tradizione delle nostre campagne. bi i casi favorisce la percezione della continuità degli spazi, e denota degli scorci particolari che mettono a contrasto le murature esistenti e quindi il ricordo del passato, ai colori moderni che fanno da cornice alla vita quotidiana del futuro. Il colore gioca un ruolo fondamentale anche nella percezione tra l’ambiente esterno e quello interno.Il grande giardino che circonda la villa così come l’azzurro della piscina sono incorniciati dalle numerose finestre che si aprono sulle vecchie murature e riescono a diventare parte integrante del progetto. he renovation of the first floor of Villa de Castelletta, a nineteenth-century villa located in the Fermo countryside, was done in respect of the existing heritage, to create continuity between the past and the future. The client’s request was to obtain two apartments in a ‘relais’ key. We wanted to make the distinction of the apartments visible by using color, while maintaining a general univocal vision. Precisely in order not to forget the historicity of the residence, we have created a concept that takes into consideration the elements of the environmental context that surround the place; from the hills typi-

cal of this area of the Marche, passing to the colors of the sky and the characteristic essences of the place. The result is a project that alternates univocal and recognizable elements with variations of the individual “ingredients” that determine the general and particular vision of the spaces. Keeping the historical load-bearing walls intact, we have developed a series of new modern and minimal environments, characterized by a continuous and material line that together with the Italian herringbone wooden floor, give unity and uniqueness to the project. Instead, through the chromatic variations the identity of the two apartments is created: the colors chosen as the protagonists of the houses come from the colors of nature, ‘the blue’ is the tone that refers to the water and the sky while the ‘earth’ recalls the color of the tradition of our countryside. The colored band, in both cases, favors the perception of the continuity of the spaces, and denotes particular views that contrast the existing walls and therefore the memory of the past, to the modern colors that frame the daily life of the future. Color also plays a fundamental role in the perception between the external and internal environment. The large garden surrounding the villa as well as the blue of the swimming pool are framed by the many windows that open onto the old walls and manage to become an integral part of the project. &A design è stata invitata da Turri, marchio di lusso del design italiano, a creare la serie da sala da pranzo di Melting Light, che combina la secolare tecnologia di produzione di mobili Turri con il design orientale, creando un precedente nel campo dell’arredamento di lusso del “Chinese design made in Italy”. L’intera gamma di prodotti esposti nella serie Melting Light comprende quattro elementi: tavo-lo da pranzo, sedia da pranzo, mobile bar e credenza. Utilizzando le moderne tecniche di de-sign e l’abilità nella lavorazione dei materiali, questi elementi propongono una moderna interpretazione dello stile Ming dal segno curvilineo: così la struttura in metallo sostituisce l’antica versione in legno, mettendo in risalto la silhouette. Il metallo così trattato sembra fondersi nel mobile donando un prezioso effetto di brillantezza. Questa serie rappresenta anche la perfetta fusione tra la cultura cinese e quella occidentale. &A design was invited by Turri, a luxury brand of Italian design, to create the Melting Light dining room series, which combines the centuries-old Turri furniture production technology with oriental design, creating a precedent in the field of “Chinese design made in Italy” luxury furniture. The entire range of products displayed in the Melting Light series includes four elements: dining table, dining chair, bar cabinet and sideboard. Using modern design techniques and skill in working with materials, these elements offer a modern interpretation of the Ming style with a curvilinear sign: the metal structure replaces the old wooden version, highlighting the sil-houette. The metal thus treated seems to melt into the furniture giving a precious effect of brilliance. This

n rifugio per le vacanze che a sorpresa si sdoppia in due diversi edifici, uno accanto all'altro. La forma è la stessa ma cambiano le dimensioni: l’unità più grande, di 63 metri quadri, accoglie le principali funzioni domestiche (cucina, living, camere da letto e bagno), mentre quella più piccola, di 11 metri quadri, è destinata a dependance per il relax e il riposo. “L'obiettivo”, spiegano gli architetti norvegesi, “è preservare il più possibile il paesaggio circostante con due volumi meno impattanti sul territorio. Ma anche creare spazi altamente flessibili per accogliere ospiti o familiari in ambienti distinti e ben separati". I due edifici, entrambi in legno e con tetto spiovente, si adattano al terreno scosceso grazie a un'alternanza di piani fra di loro interconnessi, che catturano la bellezza del paesaggio sia verso la foresta che verso la collina.

A vacation retreat that surprisingly splits into two different small cabins, side by side. With a similar shape, but differently sized: a larger 63 square meters unit contains the main living spaces (the living, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) while a smaller 11 square meters annex alongside is intended as a dependence for the night. "The goal is to preserve the surrounding landscape as much as possible with two less impactful volumes," the architects explain, “but also to provide higher flexibility and the opportunity to accommodate hosts or family members in separate spaces”. The buildings, both made out of wood and with pitched roofs, adapt to the steep terrain thanks to articulated sections resulting in interconnected floors that capture the beauty of the landscape, both towards the forest and the hill..
