terra di sogni Il mare, con i suoi incredibili riflessi, così limpido da poter intravedere bianchi fondali di sabbia finissima. Le incredibili calette, le coste, le spiagge. Non sono le uniche attrattive presenti nella Sardegna Sud Est, ove è impossibile non farsi rapire dalla varietà e la bellezza dei paesaggi, così fedeli nelle coste alle splendide immagini da cartolina note oggi a tutto il mondo e così sorprendenti nell’entroterra. Qui appare la Sardegna meno conosciuta. Quella che non ti aspetti. Una Sardegna capace di “incantare” con i colori accesi di una vegetazione mediterranea e variegata. Montagne aspre, antiche vallate testimoni di una storia millenaria, un ambiente incontaminato e a tratti selvaggio. Immagini, profumi e suoni che si irradiano dal profondo dell’anima di una terra che ha tantissimo da raccontare. Una terra i cui frutti rappresentano la vera essenza di un autentico angolo di paradiso. Chi ha avuto il piacere di visitare la Sardegna e il sud-est in particolare, conosce bene questi sapori e questi aromi e difficilmente li dimentica. Basti pensare al pesce, immancabile nelle tavole sarde, soprattutto nelle zone costiere. Spigole, orate, triglie, grandi pesci di fondale come dentici, ricciole e cernie. Ma anche deliziosi crostacei come l’aragosta, i gamberi e molluschi
d’ogni sorta come polpi, calamari, seppie, arselle e cozze. Che dire poi dei prodotti più tipici come la “bottarga” (autentica delizia preparata con le uova di muggine)? Oppure i formaggi dai sapori decisi e appetitosi, il rinomato maialetto allo spiedo, sapientemente presentato su un letto di mirto profumato e molte altre delizie. La semplicità e la genuinità sono comuni denominatori nella cucina sarda e così come a tavola, questa stessa semplicità è rievocata nei gesti della quotidianità e nelle arti. Basti pensare alla musica e agli strumenti musicali più tipici, le launeddas, costruiti con canne palustri attraverso tecniche custodite gelosamente. La materia prima si lega sempre, immancabilmente alla terra, da tempo immemore. Le sonorità prodotte sono dunque ruvide e affascinanti allo stesso tempo.

Those who have had the pleasure of visiting Sardinia, and the south east in particular, know well and appreciate the flavours and aromas that are most typical of this land. Fish is never missing from the Sardinian table, especially in coastal areas. Sea bass, sea bream, mullet, white bream, the great fish of the sea floor such as red snapper, amberjack and
grouper, but also delicious crustaceans like lobster, prawns and molluscs of every type. ‘Bottarga’, an authentic delicacy prepared from the eggs of mullet roe, is one of the most famous products. Sardinian cheeses have marked and appetising flavours and often accompany the famous ‘maialetto allo spiedo’, suckling pig roasted on a spit, presented in the traditional way on a bed of perfumed myrtle. Simplicity and authenticity are common themes in Sardinian cuisine. The same simplicity is retained in everyday life and in the arts. The most typical musical instruments in Sardinia are the ‘Launeddas’, made from marsh reed following jealously guarded techniques.

Seebarsch, Goldbrasse, Meerbarbe, Brasse, große Fische der Wassertiefen wie Zahnbrasse, Seriola dumerili, Zackenbarsch aber auch köstliche Krustentiere wie Langusten, Garnelen und jede Art von Mollusken. Unter den berühmtesten
Produkten, der “Rogen”, authentische Köstlichkeit, zubereitet mit den Eiern der Meeräsche. Die sardischen Käse haben kräftige und appetitanregende Geschmäcke und oft begleiten sie das berühmte Schwein, am Spieß gebraten, zubereitet nach der Tradition auf einem Bett aus wohlriechender Myrte. Die Einfachheit und die Unverfälschtheit sind gemeinsame Nenner in der sardischen Küche. Dieselbe Einfachheit ist ins Gedächtnis zurückgerufen in den Gesten der Alltäglichkeit und in den Künsten. Die typischsten Musikinstrumente Sardiniens sind “die Launeddas”, angefertigt mit Schilfröhren durch Verfahren welche bedacht aufbewahrt werden. Das Rohmaterial ist immer schon seit alten Zeiten mit der Erde verbunden. Das Gebiet des Süd Osten Sardiniens ist charakterisiert durch die tausendjährige Geschichte und Kultur.

high tourist demand. Costa Rei is another very famous destination not far from Villasimius, with a pleasant town centre and town square which often hosts events and fairs of various kinds. Proceeding towards Muravera, Villaputzu, Porto Corallo, Marina di Tertenia and Marina di Gairo you will be following scenery which is wilder but certainly no less impressive. Here nature is luxuriantly evident in the vegetation. Sometimes it is necessary to pass through entire pine forests or large areas of undergrowth and Mediterranean maquis to reach the beaches.
Vom Strand der Hunderttausenden, “der Poetto” seit eh und je bevorzugtes Ziel für die Einwohner von Cagliari und für die vielen Sarden welche vom Hinterland kommen und für eine beträchtliche Vertretung von ausländischen Touristen, entwickelt sich eine wunderschöne Route. Eine einzigartige Strecke, welche von Cagliari ausgehend, einen beeindruckenden Blickfang auf die Teiche von Quartu S. Elena bietet, nur wenige Kilometer von der Hauptstadt entfernt und sehr berühmt wegen der großen Kolonien von rosaroten Flamingos welche sie auf beiden Seiten, direkt an der Strandpromenade besetzen. Starting with ‘Poetto’, the beach of the masses, which has always been dear to the Cagliaritans, many Sardinians from the inland area and the ever-present groups of foreign tourists, an impressive itinerary unfolds. A unique trail which, departing from Cagliari, offers an enchanting view of the lagoon of Quartu Sant’Elena on one side (a few kilometres from the main city and very famous for the large colonies of pink flamingoes that inhabit it) and on the other directly out onto the seafront. Proceeding in the direction of Villasimius, the landscape changes and the road begins to climb up into the mountains. A few turns separate the visitor’s unsuspecting eyes from a spectacular panorama. Once you pass the first mountains, the sea appears. The coastline of Geremeas,Torre delle Stelle and Solanas can be admired from above, provoking the desire just to jump into the cristalline water. Continuing on the route,Villasimius is an unmissable stop. A vibrant tourist centre that is invaded by thousands of tourists each year. Here you can find the Protected Marine Area of Capo Carbonara-Villasimius. A real paradise for diving enthusiasts because of the richness and beauty of the ocean floor, an unspoilt habitat which is home to aquatic species unique in the world. The plethora of accommodation, including hotels, campsites, restaurants and bars of every type, and well organized facilities, represent an efficient response to

Bresca Dorada, one of the best known mirto manufacturers, has one secret. It lies in honey, and it was the reason why Paolo Melis and Enrico Diana knew each other. A beekeeper proud of his art the former, a person who believed in Liquori the potentialities of the territory the latter. They joined their ideas to create something special. In their almost 7 hectares covered with Mediterranean scrub, Marmellate e confetture in a place 17 Kilometres away from Muravera, they produce a mirto that has a unique and balsamic fragrance. Paolo and Enrico’s adventure, indeed, Composte started producing good honey. The same honey they use today to sweeten their Miele liqueurs, made with natural ingredients and tasty as the homemade ones. Una valle incontaminata fra il mare e le montagne, due amici e un’ idea E’ il 1986 quando Paolo Melis e Enrico Diana identificano nelle campagne di Muravera il luogo ideale per impiantare un allevamento di api e fondare Bresca Dorada. Paolo e Enrico, insieme ai loro collaboratori, gestiscono oltre 600 alveari e praticando la transumanza (seguendo le fioriture), riescono ad ottenere una variegata quantità di pregiati mieli uniflorali. Nel 1990 nasce l’idea di produrre il liquore di mirto utilizzando i frutti di quelle piante che crescono abbondanti nel territorio. Il Mirto viene immesso nel mercato e ottiene un considerevole riconoscimento tanto da convincere i due soci di Bresca Dorada ad incrementare la produzione e proporlo in un mercato più vasto. La loro è una prova, una piccola scommessa che sa di sfida. Con l’utilizzo del miele nella sua preparazione, il Mirto Bresca Dorada si differenzia da tutti gli altri liquori presenti sul mercato. Le caratteristiche di questo liquore sono la qualità delle materie prime impiegate, la lavorazione che rispetta il procedimento tradizionale e l’accurata ricerca della confezione che si ispira sempre all’antica cultura sarda. La voglia di andare avanti con la sperimentazione spinge Bresca Dorada a valorizzare le bontà che vengono offerte da quella generosa terra che li ospita. Quella di Paolo e Enrico, dal 1986 ad oggi è una piccola scommessa che sa di sfida.
Bresca Dorada in the Sardinian language means golden honeycomb but also something small and very precious, such as honey was for Sardinian peasants. This name encloses within itself the history of an enterprise born out of the respect and love for nature, tradition and quality, which prompted its founding partners, Enrico Diana and Paolo Melis, to establish their activity at Monte Liuru, in the Muravera countryside, approximately 50 km from Cagliari, an almost inaccessible area at that time. A pristine valley, two friends and an idea. The idea was to become beekeepers and produce honey and other products from beehives. So it was that in 1986, Paolo Melis and Enrico Diana founded Bresca Dorada. Together with their team, they started with over 600 bee hives. Moving them from one pasture to another, they produced different kinds of delicious honey from the island’s flowers. In 1990 they expanded into agricultural tourism. The two friends had a hobby: making home-made myrtle liqueur. When they started serving it as an after dinner digestive drink their customers were enthusiastic. Their reactions convinced the two partners to increase production and add it to their product list. Turning a hobby into a business was a risk and a challenge.

t he city of art hist ory and culture Along the streets of the Sardinian capital, you can discover incredible historical and architectural beauties. Our tour starts from the historical Via Roma where we can find the imposing Town Hall which dates back to the early 20th century. Another important Cagliari monument is the Sanctuary of the Basilica of Bonaria, dating back to 1324. The statue of the Virgin of Bonaria, discovered in 1370 and since then housed inside the church, in 1908 became the patron saint of the island and is still today a symbol of good omen for sailors. Marking the beginning of the “highest” district of Cagliari is the striking Saint Remy Bastion, from where you can admire a wide view of the city and its charming coastline. The Bastion, like the Town Hall, was built in limestone between the late 19th
century and the early 20th century. “Viale Buoncammino” is one of the most suggestive parts of Cagliari, both for the incredible view of the Gulf of Cagliari it offers and for the presence of high trees whose leaves provide a refreshing cover on hot summer days.

La posizione strategica sul mare, con vista panoramica mozzafiato, non è la sola attrattiva della città di Cagliari. Tra le vie del capoluogo sardo si possono infatti scoprire incredibili bellezze storiche e architettoniche. Il nostro tour può dunque iniziare partendo dalla storica via Roma, raffinato ingresso cittadino ove fa capolino l’imponente Palazzo Civico. È questa una costruzione risalente ai primi del ‘900, nella quale si possono apprezzare elementi gotici e liberty. Le due torri a pianta ottagonale, caratterizzano la struttura austera del palazzo che si mostra slanciato e luminoso agli occhi del visitatore, soprattutto in virtù del bianco della pietra calcarea con la quale fu realizzato. Altro importante monumento cagliaritano è il Santuario della Basilica di Bonaria, risalente al 1324. Edificato per volere dell’infante Alfonso d’Aragona, il Santuario fu luogo prescelto per fornire assistenza spirituale ai militari impegnati nell’assedio della città. La Statua della Vergine di Bonaria, scoperta nel 1370 e ospitata fin d’allora all’interno della chiesa, divenne nel 1908 patrona dell’intera isola e rappresenta ancora oggi un simbolo di buon auspicio per i naviganti. Nella zona di “Castello”, sono molteplici le testimonianze di una storia antica. A delimitare il quartiere più “alto” di Cagliari vi è l’appariscente Bastione di Saint Remy. Un luogo particolarmente caro ai cagliaritani che, specialmente la sera, si recano nei graziosi locali ubicati sull’ampia terrazza all’aperto. La vista dal Bastione di Saint Remy è davvero straordinaria. Da qui si può infatti ammirare un ampio scorcio della città e della sua affascinante costa. Il Bastione, così come il palazzo del Municipio, fu costruito in pietra calcarea tra la fine dell’800 e i primi del ‘900. La grande scalinata marmorea che si affaccia sulla graziosa piazza Costituzione, è percorsa ogni giorno specialmente d’estate, da tanti turisti che sfidano i numerosi gradini per accedere alle terrazze sovrastanti. Proseguendo verso la parte più alta della città, è d’obbligo una passeggiata nel caratteristico “Viale Buoncammino”. È questo infatti uno degli angoli più suggestivi di Cagliari, sia per l’incredibile vista che si offre sul Golfo di Cagliari che per la presenza di piante ad alto fusto che con le loro fronde garantiscono un certo refrigerio nelle calde giornate estive.

Die Position über dem Meer ist nicht der einzige Reiz der Stadt Cagliari. Unsere Tour beginnt von der via Roma. Der Stadtpalast geht auf die ersten Jahre des 1900 zurück. Zwei Türme charakterisieren den leuchtenden Bau, aus Weißem Kalkstein. Sehenswert ist die Wallfahrtskirche der Basilika von Bonaria vom Jahr 1324. Es war ein Ort um den Soldaten geistlichen Beistand zu leisten. Die Statue der Jungfrau von Bonaria wurde ihm Jahr 1908 Schutzpatronin der Insel und ist ein Symbol des Schutzes für die Seefahrer. Die Bastei von Saint Remy grenzt das Stadtviertel Castello ab. Ein beliebter Ort der Einwohner von Cagliari, die sich am Abend in die Lokale auf der Terrasse im Freien begeben. Die Bastei wurde zwischen Ende des 19.und Beginndes 20. Jahrhunderts erbaut. DieFreitreppe,auf der Piazza Costituzione ist von vielen Touristen begangen, die sich mit ihren Stufen auseinandersetzen, um die oben liegenden Terrassen zu erreichen. Auch ein Spaziergang zum Viale Buoncammino ist unerläßlich, eine der schönsten Ecken von Cagliari, sei es wegen der Aussicht auf den Golf, als auch wegen der Anwesenheit hochstämmiger Bäume.

itinerario blu e verde Itinerario Blu (sp17) Partendo da Cagliari, si attraversa il Golfo degli Angeli, lungo la strada che separa la spiaggia del Poetto dalle saline del Parco di Molentargius, tra i colori intensi di questi specchi d’acqua e dei fenicotteri rosa. Raggiunto il Litorale del Margine Rosso si prosegue per Località Capitana dove la strada comincia a inerpicarsi lungo la scogliera. Da qui il nastro asfaltato, si spiega in un percorso tortuoso, tra baie adornate da acqua cristallina, dai colori più chiari della riva al blu intenso al largo e promontori dalle cui sommità, le torri silenziose, proteggevano le coste dalle invasioni dei pirati barbareschi. Dopo pochi km si incontra la spiaggia di “Mari Pintau” ovvero mare dipinto e subito dietro il rilievo, l’abitato di Geremeas con la sua lunga spiaggia. Tra cale e promontori si giunge a Torre delle Stelle il cui nome originario, Turre ‘e is Teulasa (torre delle tegole) fu erroneamente interpretato dai cartografi, nella realizzazione delle prime mappe nella prima metà del 1900. Curve e tornanti a picco sul mare ci conducono a Solanas, frazione del comune di Sinnai e da qui comincia una breve salita che conduce al promontorio di Capo Boi. Chi viaggia su due ruote può optare per una alternativa che allunga di soli 2 km il tragitto, riprendendo il tracciato originario della vecchia strada provinciale, che consente di fare il periplo del colle di Capo Boi, sulla cui cima è posta l’omonima Torre. Il fondo stradale, sterrato, non è in ottime condizioni, ma consente il passaggio di un’auto. Si consiglia comunque il transito alle sole moto e bici, avendo sempre la massima prudenza per la mancanza di protezioni.
Il paesaggio offre alla vista scenari davvero suggestivi che meritano una sosta per scattare qualche foto, tra le limpide acque di Solanas e i promontori tra Porto Sa Ruxi e Capo Carbonara. Rientrati nella strada principale ci si avvia lungo la discesa che in 8 km porta nella rinomata Villasimus. E’ d’obbligo una visita a Capo Carbonara, estremo Sud della Costa orientale per osservare, dalla torre di Porto Giunco, uno degli luoghi più incantevoli che la natura potesse donare a questa terra. Il viaggio prosegue ora verso nord, prendendo la SP 18 in località Simus e da lì verso P.ta Molentis. I giochi cromatici tra lo sfondo del mare e gli oleandri in fiore ci accompagnano tra le curve sinuose, scorgendo nel blu intenso del mare l’Isola di Serpentara. Il Paesaggio si fa ora più dolce con tratti pianeggianti e le bianche spiagge di Cala Pira, Cala Sinzias e Santa Giusta, precedono l’arrivo a Costarei. Da qui si attraversa il centro abitato a un passo dal lungo litorale sabbioso lungo quasi 8 km, fino al rilievo vulcanico di Capo Ferrato, scendendo dal quale, lungo la strada sterrata, si scorgono le isolate spiagge di Cala Sa Figu, P.to S’Ilixi, Feraxi e sullo sfondo gli stagni costieri di Colostrai e Feraxi. Si prosegue lungo la sterrata e all’incrocio si gira a destra seguendo la strada principale, superato il ponte sul Rio Picocca girare a sinistra, all’incrocio si svolta a destra e procedendo sino a S. Priamo per immettersi nella SS125 che porta fino a Muravera.

Itinerario verde (ss125) Sono poco più di 60 i km che separano Cagliari da Muravera, in questo percorso che attraversa una natura incontaminata, aspra e selvaggia. Usciti da Cagliari, si attraversa la SS554 in un breve tratto per poi immettersi sulla SS125. Si supera il piccolo bacino artificiale di Simbirizzi e dopo circa 20 chilometri si comincia a risalire la grande vallata su cui sorge il villaggio di San Gregorio, con le sontuose ville del secolo scorso. Per gli amanti delle due ruote, la strada si fa subito tortuosa nei 3 km che portano al valico Arcu e Tidu 430 m s.l.m. Qui si trova una fresca area di sosta immersa nel bosco, alle pendici dei Monti dei Sette Fratelli (1016) nei quali l’Ente Foreste della Sardegna, gestisce una vasta riserva naturale dove è possibile incontrare cervi, cinghiali e con un pizzico di fortuna anche l’aquila reale.Le forme del paesaggio si fanno sempre più aspre, osservando tra i rilievi, i tipici blocchi di granito erosi dagli agenti meteorici. Attraversiamo più volte il corso del fiume nei piccoli ponti,

alcuni realizzati in pietra locale e scampati alle grosse piene che in inverno imperversano la vallata. Nel letto del fiume fanno bella mostra di se gli enormi massi arrotondati dalla forza del corso d’acqua e le tipiche marmitte dei giganti nascoste tra la fitta vegetazione di oleandri. Sono tanti i punti nei quali fermarsi per fare una breve sosta, ma di sicuro giunti al 49,3 km non si può far a meno di notare “l’Arco dell’Angelo” e i rilievi granitici circostanti. Questo tratto di strada è posto nel punto più stretto e spettacolare della vallata ove non di rado si osservano le intrepide capre scalare le ripide pareti alla ricerca di freschi germogli tra le rocce. Il nome deriva dalle due rocce che sembrano trattenere la strada come fossero le ali di un angelo custode. Superato l’Arco dell’Angelo, la stretta gola si apre e dopo qualche curva si incontra una grande placca granitica nota come “placca del pastore” e frequentata dagli amanti dell’arrampicata in stile tradizionale. Giunti alla casa cantoniera dopo circa un km, il rio Cannas si immette sul Rio Picocca e dopo poco si giunge al ponte sull’omonimo corso d’acqua, realizzato interamente in pietra granitica su 7 campate. Terminate le curve si attraversa il lungo rettilineo nel quale balza all’occhio il Nuraghe Asoru del XVIII sec a.C.. Da qui ci dirigiamo verso San Priamo, un villaggio nel territorio di San Vito custodito dal santuario campestre del XIII secolo, scavato in parte nella roccia e posto nella collina che sovrasta il piccolo borgo, le cui linee architettoniche richiamano l’origine del periodo fascista. Ripresa la strada ci dirigiamo verso lo stagno di Torre Salinas per giungere dopo 7 km a Muravera.

La magia del mondo sommerso L’area marina protetta di Villasimius è stata istituita nel 1998. Si estende nell’estrema parte del sud-est della Sardegna, quasi a formare un ideale triangolo e comprende un territorio ed una varietà di specie marine d’inestimabile valore. Atta alla protezione dello spazio naturale che essa comprende, lo scopo che si prefigge è quello di coniugare uno sviluppo socioeconomico vantaggioso, il rispetto dell’ecosistema. L’area è stata suddivisa in tre zone a seconda
delle specie che vi abitano: riserva integrale, generale o parziale, dove sono vietate la caccia, la pesca e la discarica dei rifiuti, oltre a tutte le attività che possano compromettere il perfetto equilibrio della natura. Negli anni passati il mare di Villasimius servì da passaggio per i popoli che instauravano legami con le città portuali del continente e offriva altresì un ottimo riparo dai venti per le navi mercantili. Oggi ciò che veramente merita attenzione è il mondo sommerso che conserva
le testimonianze della lunga frequentazione dell’uomo in queste acque, come i relitti di alcune navi naufragate, che possono essere visitati grazie agli appositi “sentieri blu”. Inoltre, i fondali contano la presenza di numerose specie di fauna e flora marina, come la pinna nobilis e la posidonia oceanica. Tutto questo ha un valore e un’importanza fondamentale per far sì che tutti in futuro, possano godere di questo straordinario spettacolo sottomarino.
The magic of the underwater world The protected sea area of Villasimius was established in 1998. It spreads out in the extreme part of the south-east of Sardinia, almost forming an ideal triangle, and it comprehends a territory and a variety of sea species of priceless value. It aims to respect and protect the ecosystem, promoting a fruitful social-economic development. The area has been divided into three zones according to the species there living: integral, general or partial reserve, where all the activities that might compromise the perfect
balance of nature, such as hunting, fishing and dumping are prohibited. In the past the sea of Villasimius was a passage for the people who made deals with the maritime towns of the continent and was also an excellent shelter from the winds for the mercantile boats. What is really worth the attention today is the underwater world which keeps the testimonies of the man’s presence, such as the relicts of some wrecked ships which can be visited thanks to appropriate “blue itineraries”. Moreover, the depths count the presence of many species of sea flora
and fauna, such as “pinna nobilis” and “posidona oceanica”. It all has a fundamental value and importance in order to let everybody enjoy this extraordinary underwater show in the future. Das Wasserschutzgebiet von Villasimius wurde 1998 dazu ernannt. Es liegt im extremen SüdOsten Sardiniens, mit der Form eines fast perfekten Dreiecks, und umfasst ein Gebiet und eine Vielfalt von Meeresspezies mit unschätzbarem Wert. Die Gegend ist für den Schutz dieses natürlichen Ortes geeignet, das Ziel, dass man sich gesetzt hat ist es,
eine vorteilhafte sozial- ökonomische Entwicklung zu zeugen, mit dem vollen Respekt des Ökosystems. Die Gegend wurde in drei Zonen aufgeteilt, je nach dem welche Spezies dort leben: vollständiges, allgemeines oder partielles Reservat, wo die Jagt, das Fischen, das entladen von Abfall und alle Tätigkeiten, die das natürliche Gleichgewicht stören können verboten sind. Das Meer von Villasimius war in der Vergangenheit vor allem eine Meerweg für die Völker, die Beziehungen mit den Hafenstädten auf dem Festland errichteten, dieser bot sich für sieFrachtschiffe auch als hervorragender Schutz vor dem Wind an.Was heute wirklich große Aufmerksamkeit verdient, ist die Unterwasserwelt, die das Zeugnis dafür ist, dass diese Gewässer in der Vergangenheit vom Menschen lange Zeit frequentiert wurden, wie uns einige Schiffsrelikte zeigen können, es besteht die Möglichkeit, dank der sogenannten “Blauen Wege“, diese Wracks zu besichtigen. Außerdem zählt der Meeresgrund eine große Vielzahl an Spezies der Meerestierund Pflanzenwelt, wie z.B. die “Pinna Nobilis“ und die “Posidonia Oceanica“. Das ganze ist von großem Wert und von grundlegender Wichtigkeit dafür, dass in der Zukunft alle die ses wunderbare Wasserspektakel genießen können.

il museo archeologico Nel cuore di Villasimius, in Via Frau, traversa laterale della via principale, è ospitato il Museo Archeologico. Ricco di zone espositive e ricostruzioni storiche, la sala più bella è probabilmente quella del mare nella quale il visitatore può scoprire non solo come i carichi venivano stivati ma anche come alcuni siano stati ritrovati. Ci sono esempi d’epoca punica, d’epoca romana e medievale. Bella anche la Sala del Santuario, nella quale sono in mostra i reperti ritrovati nel tempio fenicio - punico e romano di Cuccureddus. Nella Sala del Territorio è invece possibile ammirare i reperti archeologici ritrovati nei pressi della odierna chiesetta campestre di Santa Maria, un tempo sede di un edificio termale romano. Si potranno inoltre ammirare i reperti rinvenuti nella necropoli di Cruccuris e di Accu is Traias. La Sala del Relitto è una delle più ricche, dedicata alla nave aragonese naufragata nei pressi dell’Isola dei Cavoli, con il suo carico di cannoni e azulejos.

Located in the central via Frau nearby the main street, Villasimius Archeology Museum hosts Medieval, Roman and Phoenician artefacts. Also it hosts exhibitions about shipwrecks concerning the way wrecks were found and how goods were loaded on the ships. The most interesting room is called the Room of the Sea. In the Room of the Shrine is possible to admire archeological finds from the Phoenician, Punic and Roman temple of Cuccureddus. Archeological finds discovered nearby Santa Maria country church - where the ancient Roman baths were located - can be admired in the Room of the Territory, which also hosts archeological finds from Cruccuris and Accu is Traias necropolis. The sumptuous Wreck Room is dedicated to the Aragonese ship sunk off Isola dei Cavoli with its load of guns and azulejos.

La meravigliosa storia di Costa Rei Come nelle favole, la storia turistica di Costa Rei comincia nel momento in cui un ragazzo di 22 anni, figlio del titolare di un’agenzia immobiliare belga, sente parlare per la prima volta di un certo Aga khan, che aveva appena comprato 2000 ettari di terreno sulla costa nord orientale della Sardegna con l’intenzione di insediare un centro turistico. Era nato il mito della Costa Smeralda”. In quel lontano 1962, la notizia fece sognare il giovane Guido Van Alphen, che decise di partire alla volta dell’isola dei suoi sogni: la Sardegna.
Guido Van Alphen Aveva già sentito parlare da alcuni connazionali di un lembo di costa sarda ancora inesplorato, non troppo distante dal capoluogo isolano ma ancora selvaggio. Arrivato a Cagliari e ottenuto il primo contatto con un intermediario del luogo, conosce il giovane Pietro Valerio, sposato con una ragazza di Villasimius e trasferitosi in Sardegna dalla penisola. Valerio conosceva bene le località più belle del sud est e le famiglie di pastori provenienti dalla Barbagia, che allora erano gli unici possidenti terrieri della costa sud orientale. Inizia così il viaggio di Guido van Alphen uno dei tanti pionieri che hanno fatto la storia

del turismo locale e che grazie al suo intuito imprenditoriale diede non solo i natali ma anche il nome ad una delle più importanti località turistiche della Sardegna. Nel 1962 il golfo che adesso si chiama Costa Rei era una zona ad esclusiva vocazione pastorale, con oltre 15 chilometri di spiagge vergini. Non esistevano strade, e raggiungere la località in auto era impresa ardua e faticosa. Dopo svariati chilometri di strada bianca, il premio di tanta fatica era comunque la visione di scenari mozzafiato, che si presentavano lungo la strada panoramica che partendo dal golfo di Cagliari collegava il Capoluogo alla costa orientale. Passando per Solanas e procedendo verso Villasimius, s’incominciavano comunque ad intravedere le prime, timide avvisaglie di quella che poi si sarebbe rivelata una vera e propria industria turistica. La prima struttura turistica ricettiva sorgeva a Torre delle Stelle, un villaggio di proprietà di uno svizzero, e pochi chilometri più avanti si intravedeva quello che poi diventerà il Grand Hotel Capo Boi, di proprietà di un belga , sito a poca distanza dal centro urbano dell’attuale Comune di Villasimius. Allora, appena 50 anni fa, Villasimius era un piccolissimo borgo di pescatori e carbonai che offriva ai visitatori soltanto un piccolo albergo ristorante, la “Stella d’Oro”, un solo bar ed un distributore di carburante. Procedendo verso Castiadas e Muravera si potevano trovare solo estese aree disabitate e selvagge, enormi spiagge di sabbia bianchissima contornata da una foltissima macchia mediterranea.
Dopo Villasimius, il primo centro abitato era costituito dalla colonia degli ex detenuti delle carceri di Castiadas, appena dismessa, e da Oliaspeciosa poi diventato Comune. Nel corso di un lungo viaggio lungo la costa orientale, fino a Tortolì , Dorgali e la Costa Smeralda Guido van Alphen valuta attentamente le varie proposte ed i siti di maggior interesse turistico, e decide comunque di optare per l’acquisto delle terre di proprietà dei pastori di Villagrande site nel Comune di Muravera. Nel frattempo in Belgio, grazie alla buona pubblicità del padre e della sua Agenzia Immobiliare, il giovane Guido non fa fatica a trovare i soci di capitale per costruire un albergo ed un villaggio turistico. Si trattava di una strategia utile per far salire sensibilmente i valori dei terreni che s’intendevano acquistare per poi rivendere ai suoi stessi connazionali. In breve nasce la prima società Costa Rei S.p.A. Subito dopo altri pionieri, sempre dal Belgio, intraprendono la realizzazione delle prime lottizzazioni. Con le imprese approdarono a Costa Rei anche le opere di un giovanissimo architetto il belga Eric Balliu, vincitore del prestigioso Premio Roma Architettura, che aveva deciso di mettere alla prova il proprio ingegno e la propria creatività proprio a Costa Rei. Fu Eric Balliu a concepire il disegno delle prime Ville, perfettamente integrate con l’ambiente circostante, realizzate con un tetto piano e ricoperto di terra per poterci coltivare un giardino. L’idea, peraltro oggi attualissima, era nata con l’intento di rendere invisibili le costruzioni all’interno della macchia mediterranea, in modo da non deturpare in nessun modo lo scenario selvaggio e suggestivo che si sarebbe prospettato ai primi ospiti di Costa Rei. Purtroppo non la videro in questo modo i costruttori che arrivarono successivamente. Per loro le costruzioni, soprattutto se belle, dovevano poter essere ammirate e non nascoste.

L’ origine del nome Costa Rei Negli anni 60 i terreni potevano essere individuati solamente grazie alle carte militari, acqu istabili solo a Cagliari c/o la libreria Dessì. In una di queste carte, si poté notare uno stagno che si chiamava Pisci na Rei ed una colli netta che si chiamava Sa Punta Rei. Costa Rei appar ve subito un nome azzeccato, un marchio turi stico, esotico. Si decise pertanto di chiamare anche il primo albergo nato sulla costa con il nome di Hotel Villa Rei. Subito dopo, con la prima pubbl icità stampata, si utili zza il nome Costa Rei per tutto il Golfo, da Cala Sinzias fino a Capo Ferrato. L’albergo Villa Rei apre la stagione turi stica di Costa Rei all’i nizio dell’estate 1965.

The wonderful story of Costa Rei As in a fairy tale, the tourist history of Costa Rei began when a 22 year old boy, son of the owner of a Belgian estate agency, heard for the first time about a certain Aga khan, who had just bought 2,000 hectares of land on the north east coast of Sardinia with the aim of establishing a tourist centre. And so the legendary Costa Smeralda was born. Back in 1962, the
news started the young Guido Van Alphen dreaming, and he decided to set off towards the island of his dreams: Sardinia. He had already heard from a few of his compatriots about a corner of the Sardinian coastline that was still unexplored, not too far from the island’s principal city but still wilderness. And so began the journey of Guido van Alphen, one of the many pioneers who created the history of localized tourism and
who, thanks to their entrepreneurial spirit, gave not only life but also a name to one of the most important tourist areas in Sardinia. In 1962 the gulf which is now called Costa Rei was an area dedicated solely to sheep farming, with over 15 kilometres of untouched beaches. Roads were non-existent, and reaching the area by car was a difficult and exhausting task. Proceeding towards Castiadas and Muravera one came across only vast areas of uninhabited wilderness, and enormous beaches of the whitest sand bordered by a dense Mediterranean maquis. After Villasimius, the first inhabited centre consisted of a recently discontinued penal colony of former prisoners from the Castiadas prisons, and Oliaspeciosa which later became a municipality. Over the course of a long journey along the east coast as far as Tortoli, Dorgali and the Costa Smeralda, Guido van Alphen carefully evaluated the various options and sites of great tourist interest, yet decided to opt for the purchase of the land belonging to the shepherds of Villagrande situated in the Municipality of Muravera. In short, the first Costa Rei S.p.A company was born. The origin of the name Costa Rei In the 1960s, areas of land could be located only thanks to military maps, which could only be bought in Cagliari. On one of these maps you could make out a lagoon called Piscina Rei and a small hill that was called Sa Punta Rei. Costa Rei
immediately jumped out as the perfect name, a tourist brand, exotic. It was therefore decided to also name the first hotel built on the coast Hotel Villa Rei. From then on the name Costa Rei was used to refer to the whole Gulf, from Cala Sinzias as far as Capo Ferrato. The hotel Villa Rei opened the Costa Rei tourist season at the beginning of summer 1965. Other pioneers arrived, also from Belgium, who embarked on the task of parcelling out the land. The first Villas, perfectly integrated into the surrounding area, were designed and constructed with a flat roof covered with earth where a garden could be cultivated. The original idea was to make the structures invisible in the middle of the Mediterranean maquis, so as not to deface in any way the wild and enchanting landscape that was to greet the first guests of Costa Rei.

Oggi il Comune di Castiadas è un territorio con grosse ambizioni e potenzialità turistiche per il futuro. Tra le proposte numerosi progetti di altissimo livello, per dare giusta collocazione e valorizzazione ad una zona ancora poco valorizzata, ma di straordinaria bellezza e varietà
forse uniche al mondo. Il territorio è ricco di spiagge, per certi aspetti simili a quelle dei Caraibi. Il territorio di Castiadas dispone di tredici chilometri di coste incantevoli dove spiccano come gioielli le spiagge di Cala Pira, Monte Turno, Sant’Elmo, Cala Sinzias, Cala Marina, Villa Rey e Santa Giusta. Il tutto unito ad un patrimonio ambientale ancora incontaminato: montagne sempre verdi e meravigliose foreste non mancheranno di stupirvi sia con l’affascinante flora spontanea, composta da alberi di alto fusto come lecci, querce, sugherete, pini marittimi, ginepri, corbezzoli, olivastri, lentischi, carrubi, mirti, sia con la ricca presenza di fauna locale e campagne
ancora oggi incontaminate. Ricca la presenza faunistica: dai falchi ai cinghiali, ai cervi, che vivono bradi nelle zone di Buddui e Sabadi. Sarà facile trascorrere una vacanza all’insegna del relax presso le tante strutture agrituristiche, distribuite nell’intero territorio o presso i vari hotel sul litorale. The mediterranean pearl Castiadas has a population of 1360 and a vast territory located NorthWest of 7 Fratelli mountains and South-West between Costa Rei and Villasimius. Castiadas represents today a territory with great ambitions and touristic potenial for the future. Several high-level projects have been conceived to bring to notice and give value to a territory which is not well known today, despite its extraordinary beaty and simplicity, probably unique in the world. The territory abounds of beaches, similar under many aspects to those of the Carribean, and uncontaminated countryside. It will be easy for our
guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday at the several agriturismos to be found in the interior, or at the numerous hotels on the coast. From June to September, Castiadas hosts many folk and musical exhibitions, popular traditions shows and various feasts, where visitors have the chance to taste the main local products. Le Vecchie Carceri Il Ristorante è situato nel centro storico di Castiadas, ricavato in un antico edificio di fine 800 facente parte della vecchia colonia penale. Ristorante Le Vecchie Carceri è a conduzione familiare ed offre una cucina tipica sarda, con piatti semplici e creativi. Utilizziamo prodotti regionali e di produzione locale come salumi e formaggi, pane artigianale, carni, pesce, verdure, l’olio extravergine d’oliva e miele. Tra i piatti proposti nel menu prevalgono le specialità a base di pesce, consigliamo: i ravioli di pesce con vongole e bottarga, i tagliolini al nero di seppia, la fregola allo scoglio o mari e monti, una vasta gamma di antipasti e secondi come le fritture miste e di paranza, le grigliate di pesce, i gamberoni agli agrumi, poi i nostri dolci, le sebadas al miele, i raviolini di ricotta ed inoltre la vasta varietà di dessert al cucchiaio. Le carceri di Castiadas furono costruite nel 1875 per volere del Ministero dell’Interno: insieme a sette guardie carcerarie sbarcarono nell’isola trenta detenuti, con il compito di bonificare e ridar vita ad una zona rimasta disabitata per più di 1500 anni a causa delle carestie e delle epidemie cui era soggetta. Con il loro impegno, fu eretta la colonia penale più grande d’Italia, che in seguito arrivò ad ospitare più di duemila persone fra carcerati, agenti di custodia ed impiegati con famiglia al seguito. Il duro lavoro dei detenuti non mancò di ottenere importanti risultati nel campo dell’agricoltura e della pastorizia. La colonia penale cessò di esistere nel 1952, quando l’ETFAS, Ente di Trasformazione Fondiaria Agraria della Sardegna, frutto della riforma approvata in quegli anni, prese in appalto la zona per la riforma agricola, e la suddivise in sette aziende. Oggi le vecchie carceri si presentano a noi come un imponente edificio quasi totalmente ristrutturato, suddiviso in più parti: un cortile interno da cui ammirare l’intera struttura, la villa del Direttore, le celle, gli uffici e la farmacia. Durante la stagione estiva, nell’area della colonia penale vengono organizzate interessanti mostre legate all’artigianato, alla pittura, al settore agro-alimentare, che permettono al turista di immergersi appieno nella storia di questo paese.
The story goes for older prisons The old prisons of Castiadas were built in 1875 as ordered by The Home Office: thirty convicts together with seven prison officers landed in Sardinia with the task of rebuilding and giving new life to an area which had been deserted for more than 1500 years because of the famine and epidemics this land was subject to. With their commitment the biggest penal colony in Italy was built. It then reached a population of more than 2000 people among inmates, prison warders, employees and their family. With the convicts’hard work, important results were achieved both in agriculture and pastoral farming. The penal colony ceased to exist in 1952, when the ETFAS (The Sardinian Agricultural Land Credit Board), following the reforms of that period, contracted the area for the agriculture reform and divided it in to seven companies. Today, the old prisons are an imposing and almost completely refurbished building with the Governor’s villa, the cells, the offices, the chemist’s and an inner garden where you can admire the entire structure from. In the Summer the area of the penal colony hosts many interesting handcrafts, painting or food exhibitions, giving the tourist the chance of a full immersion in the history of Castiadas.

Die alten Gefängnisse von Castiadas wurden auf Wunschdes Innenministeriums 1875 erbaut: gemeinsam mit sieben Gefängniswächtern strandeten auf der Insel Dreißig Gefangene, deren Aufgabe es war, eine Gegend zu entwässern und zum Leben zu erwecken, die über 1500 Jahre lang unbewohnt blieb,das wegen der Hungersnot und der Seuchen, denen diese Gegend ausgesetzt war. Mit deren Fleiß wurde die größte Strafkolonie Italiens aufgerichtet, die später von mehr als zweitausend Personen- die aus Sträflingen, Sträflingswachen und Angestellte mit deren Familien zusammengesetzt waren- bewohnt wurde. Wegen der harten Arbeit, welche die Sträflinge leisten mussten, hatten diese nicht so große Erfolge bei den landwirtschaftlichen Tätigkeiten und bei der Viehzucht. Die Strafkolonie hörte 1952 auf zu existieren, als der “ETFAS“,Verband für die Umgestaltung des landwirtschaftlichen Bodens in Sardinien, die Gegend wegen einer Landwirtschaftsreform, die in diesen Jahren entschieden wurde, übernahmen und diese in sieben Unternehmen aufteilte. Heute präsentieren sich uns die alten Gefängnisse wie ein großartiges Gebäude, fast komplett restauriert und in mehreren Teilen aufgeteilt: ein Innenhof, von dem man die

L’oasi naturale dei sette fratelli L’entroterra sardo vanta un patrimonio inestimabile, benchè non sia conosciuto al pari delle zone costiere. Nel sud-est dell’isola in particolare, si nascondono autentici tesori. In esso si possono scoprire testimonianze affascinanti di un antico passato e al contempo una natura rigogliosa e incontaminata. L’oasi dei Sette Fratelli è uno splendido spaccato di un territorio variegato dal punto di vista paesaggistico e naturalistico. L’intera area che occupa circa 6.190 ettari (62 kmq), si presenta particolarmente suggestiva, sovrastata dalla piccola ma rinomata catena montuosa (dalla quale prende il nome); il Massiccio granitico dei Sette Fratelli. Originariamente in questa zona esisteva un’antica foresta, oggi quasi del tutto scomparsa a causa dello sfruttamento del territorio da parte dell’uomo. Tuttavia, ciò che resta della vegetazione di un tempo si conserva con vigore sia per via del clima favorevole che per i vincoli ambientali che hanno posto fine all’abbattimento dissennato degli alberi e delle piante caratteristiche del luogo. Oggi si auspica un seppur lento recupero di questo importante patrimonio ambientale, con un ritorno alla situazione originaria. L’oasi dei Sette Fratelli è uno dei luoghi più amati dai sardi per escursioni, gite e lunghe passeggiate utili a ritemprare il corpo e la mente. Gli splendidi paesaggi e gli scorci suggestivi che si
offrono agli occhi del visitatore, sono l’ideale per sentirsi tutt’uno con la natura e le sue preziose meraviglie. Il bosco, lassù tra le valli dei Sette Fratelli, raccoglie in sé elementi tipici della flora isolana. Nella macchiaforesta emergono lecci, querce da sughero, piante di corbezzolo, mirto (dal quale si estrae un prezioso nettare con il quale si produce un liquore delizioso dal sapore intenso) e un sottobosco dai mille profumi e colori che caratterizza l’ambiente e lo rende particolarmente romantico. L’acqua è da queste parti un elemento fortemente caratterizzante del paesaggio, nonostante i monti sardi siano notoriamente piuttosto aridi. Nell’oasi dei Sette Fratelli ci si può imbattere sovente in vere e proprie piscine naturali, piccole cascate e rigagnoli d’acqua limpida e freschissima che con impeto vitale si fanno strada tra le rocce granitiche. In questa vasta area del sud-est sardo, si respira quell’aria tipica degli ambienti mediterranei. Un’aria familiare che i sardi conoscono bene e che amano particolarmente, specialmente nelle calde giornate estive, quando la ricerca del refrigerio dai caldissimi raggi solari diventa obiettivo primario per vivere una giornata all’insegna del relax più completo.
The nature reserve of “Sette fratelli” The Sardinian inland area, particularly in the south east of the island, boasts an inestimable heritage, despite not being as well known as the coastal areas. The Seven Brothers (Sette Fratelli) nature reserve is a splendid cross section of an area that is rich and varied in terms of scenery and nature. The entire area, which covers around 6,190 hectares (62 kmÇ) is dominated by the small but famous mountain chain from which it gets its name; the granite Seven Brothers Massif. The woodland, up among the valleys of the Seven Brothers, contains specimens that are typical of the island’s flora. Highlights of the maquis forest include holm oaks, cork oaks, strawberry plants and myrtle (the berries of which are used to produce a delicious liquor) and a lush undergrowth which characterizes the area. In the Seven Brothers nature reserve you can come across real natural swimming pools,small waterfalls and brooks of fresh crystal clear water making its path through the granite rocks with vital force.
Das sardische Innenland, vor allem im Süd-Osten der Insel, rühmt sich eines unschätzbaren Eigentums, auch wenn es nicht so bekannt ist wie die Küstenzonen. Die Oase der Sette Fratelli ist vom naturlandschaftlichen Gesichtspunkt aus ein wunderschöner Abschnitt eines reichen und verschiedenartigen Gebietes. Die gesamte Fläche besetzt zirka 6190 Hektar (62 Quadratkilometer), sie ist überragt von der berühmten Bergkette (von der sie den Namen bekommt, der Granitmassiv der Sette Fratelli). DerWald, zwischen den Täfern der Sette Fratelli, sammelt in sich die typischen Elemente der Inselflora. In der Wald- Macchia ragen Steineichen, Korkeichen, Erdbeerbäume, Myrte (ihre Beeren werden verwendet um einen köstlichen Likör herzustellen) und ein üppiges Unterholz hervor, welches die Umwelt charakterisiert. In der Oase der Sette Fratelli kann man auf echte Naturschwimmbäder, kleine Wasserfälle und Bächlein aus durchsichtigem und frischem Wasser stoßen, die sich eine Straße zwischen den Granitfelsen bahnen.

Discovering ancient flavours The tastes and aromas of typical Sardinian cuisine are easily recognisable and never concealed by sauces or mixes that can hide the original flavour of the primary material, often linked to produce obtained from the land. The abundance of the sea, however, is still a great resource and produce obtained from the sea is an excellent alternative. In Cagliari and the surrounding inland area, marine cuisine is fairly widely available. Lobster is the absolute queen of Sardinian tables in the coastal regions, but other seafood dishes are also delicious, such as burrida, unrivalled grilled white fish, spaghetti with clams, sea urchins and risotto with seafood. The gastronomic heritage of the inland area, however, remains the symbol of the island’s cuisine with famous dishes of unmistakeable taste.
Fedele al suo territorio, caratterizzato da una natura incontaminata e a tratti selvaggia, la cucina tipica sarda propone piatti semplici e genuini. Per questo oggi è molto apprezzata anche in ambiente nazionale ed estero. I sapori e gli aromi sono facilmente riconoscibili e mai occultati da salse o preparati che possano soffocare il gusto originario della materia prima. Le ricette più rinomate e conosciute nascono dall’incontro di materie prime essenzialmente legate alla terra. La ricchezza del mare resta tuttavia una grande risorsa nell’ambito di una diversificazione gastronomica che trova nei frutti di queste acque cristalline un’ottima alternativa. A Cagliari e nel vicino hinterland per esempio, è piuttosto diffusa la cucina marinara. Naturalmente non manca mai l’aragosta, assoluta regina delle tavole sarde nelle zone costiere, ma deliziose sono anche altre pietanze come la burrida, le incomparabili grigliate di pesce bianco freschissimo, i primi di mare come gli spaghetti alle arselle, ricci di mare e tante altre delizie. Il patrimonio gastronomico dell’entroterra, resta comunque della cucina piatti rinomati inconfondibile.

Launeddas Strumento dei sardi per eccellenza, le laundeddas, composte da tre canne di misure e spessore differenti, hanno fatto da sottofondo musicale a tutte le vicende isolane degne d’essere ricordate. A fiato, antichissimo e squisitamente made in Sardinia, l’origine del nome di questo strumento potrebbe essere latina secondo alcuni studiosi, derivante da ligulella (linguetta) o greco etrusca. Per quanto le launeddas siano note e suonate su tutto il territorio isolano, è la scuola del Sarrabus quella che da sempre ha vantato i mastri più capaci e raffinati; la scuola nei secoli è stata in grado di custodire e conservare gelosamente tecniche costruttive e suonate più antiche, disponendo oggi di un patrimonio culturale eccezionale. Erede di questa ricchezza culturale incalcolabile è Luigi Lai il maestro più accreditato, originario di San Vito, allievo dei grandi suonatori di launeddas di Villaputzu, primo fra tutti Antonio Lara ed Efisio Melis. Festeggia lo strumento e i suoi suonatori il Festival delle Launeddas che si tiene ogni anno a Villaputzu durante il mese di Agosto. L’evento è occasione di incontro per maestri di launeddas, alunni e gruppi folk isolani.

The laundeddas is the quintessential Sardinian musical instrument, consisting of three pipes of different lengths and thicknesses. Over the centuries, its plaintive melody has accompanied the milestones of the island’s history. According to some experts, the name of this ancient woodwind instrument unique to Sardinia could be of Latin origin, from ligulella (tongue), or else Greek-Etruscan. Although the launeddas are wellknown and played throughout the island, the Sarrabus district has always boasted the most talented and accomplished musicians; over the centuries, they have safeguarded and preserved carefully the art of making and playing the Sardinian triple pipe, building an impressive cultural heritage. One of the key figures of this outstanding tradition is Luigi Lai, hailing from San Vito, a pupil of the great launeddas players of Villaputzu, above all Antonio Lara and Efisio Melis. This instrument and its players are celebrated each year in the month of August at the Launeddas Festival at Villaputzu. A great event bringing together musicians, learners and folk dance groups from all over the island.

il fascino di una terra preziosa Situato nella costa sud orientale della Sardegna, il territorio di Muravera è considerato il centro del Sarrabus e dista circa 64 km. da Cagliari. Ha un clima mite con piogge concentrate in brevi periodi dell’anno, soprattutto in autunno e in inverno con temperature che variano dai 10° C nel periodo invernale ai 28°C in quello estivo. La morfologia del territorio è variegata, i monti, sviluppandosi verso est e digradando dolcemente verso la costa, delimitano pianure d’origine alluvionale, solcate da fiumi e numerosi torrenti tra cui il principale è il Flumendosa, un tempo chiamato Soeprus. I rilievi montuosi non superano quasi mai i 500 metri d’altitudine e offrono suggestivi panorami mozzafiato. Il territorio, per lungo tempo tagliato fuori dalle più importanti vie di comunicazione, può vantare oggi di un patrimonio boschivo di particolare fascino che racchiude in sé ambienti incontaminati dove vivono differenti specie di animali selvatici tra cui cinghiali, cervi e aquile reali e dove la flora nei vari periodi dell’anno riserva ai visitatori una moltitudine di colori e profumi. Di particolare interesse è la foresta di Baccu Arrodas, un fitto bosco di macchia mediterranea, attrezzato per il ristoro nelle lunghe passeggiate primaverili dove è possibile visitare l’omonima miniera nella quale si estraeva l’antimonio e l’argento.

t he charm of a precious land Located on the south-eastern coast of Sardinia, the territory of Muravera is considered the centre of the Sarrabus and is about 64 km from Cagliari. It has a mild climate with showers during brief periods of the year, usually in the fall and winter; with temperatures that vary from 10°C in the winter 28°C in the summer. The territory’s morphology is varied with mountains all along the eastern side that slope gently towards the coast, marking off the flood plains where streams and numerous rivers run through them. The main river is the Flumendosa, once known as Soeprus. The mountains are usually not higher than 500 meters and some of the best views can be seen from their peaks. For a very long time, this territory was completely cut off from important means of communication. Today it boasts a fascinating woodland heritage enclosing an uncontaminated environment where different wild species such as boars, deer and golden eagles live and where the plant life, during various periods of the year, lets visitors enjoy a multitude of colours and scents. Of particular interest is the area of Baccu Arrodas, a thick wood filled with Mediterranean bush. This area has tables and benches so that visitors may stop and eat during their spring outings. There’s also the mine with the same name where antimony
and silver were once extracted. The Swamps are very precious natural heritages. These humid areas have a plant and animal wildlife of great interest, especially for the presence of birds. Filled with bright and vivacious colours that bring to mind the Mediterranean vegetation, these areas are located all along the territory of Muravera and are the main destination of a wide variety of birds such as pink flamingos, egrets, white and grey herons, Black-winged stilts, cormorans, purple swamphens and hawks. The main ones are: Stagno di San Giovanni, Stagno delle Saline, Stagno di Colostrai and Feraxi, Stagno di Piscina Rei.

Aber an der typischen sardischen Tafel sind auch die geschmorten oder mit einer Suppe zubereitete Speisen allgemein verbreitet. Das geschmorte Wildschwein oder das köstliche Lammfleisch in der Suppe gekocht mit Gemüse und Kartoffel sind bedeutende Beispiele. In der Gastronomie der Insel fehlen natürlich die Hülsenfrüchte und das Gemüse nicht. Feldbohnen, Erbsen, Tomaten, Zucchini und Auberginen werden verwendet um appetitanregende Zuspeisen zu kochen aber auch um schmackhafte Soßen für erste und zweite Gänge zu bereichern. Im Herzen des Sarrabus Gerrei bietet die üppige Anwesenheit von Schafställen die Möglichkeit direkt am Ort Käsesorten und typische Produkte zu kosten, während man sich in eine charakteristische und eindruckvolle Atmosphäre eintaucht. Ausgezeichneter Schafkäse, gesalzene Topfensorten, zubereitet mit Frischkäse und köstlichem Honig und viele weitere Spezialitäten.

La sagra delle arance a tal proposito è un evento imperdibile e un’occasione speciale per gustare i migliori frutti della nostra terra.
Meats are particularly tender and prized for their free range rearing. Naturally, vegetables are not lacking in the island’s gastronomy. Beans, peas, tomatoes, courgettes and aubergines are used to create appetising side dishes, but also to enrich delicious condiments for first and second courses. In the heart of Sarrabus Gerrei the abundance of sheep farms allows the possibility of tasting cheeses and typical products right ‘on site’, immersed in a characteristic and picturesque environment. Excellent pecorino cheese, savoury ricotta, products based on fresh cheese and delicious honey and many other specialities.

Villaputzu, situato all’estremo nord del Sarrabus, è un centro che si è sviluppato intorno al X secolo: a questo periodo risalgono, infatti, le prime incursioni arabe contro le coste, che provocarono la migrazione della popolazione locale verso l’interno. A pochi chilometri dal paese si può raggiungere la località Porto Corallo, area costiera costituita da un lungo arenile interrotto in un tratto dalla foce del Flumendosa, il secondo fiume dell’Isola, che separa Villaputzu da Muravera. Porto Corallo è così chiamato poiché nelle insenature tra gli scogli è possibile estrarre frammenti di splendido corallo. Da alcuni anni è in funzione il porto, capace di 500 posti barca. Antistante il porto, sorge la Torre edificata dagli spagnoli nel XVI secolo per contrastare le aggressioni dei pirati barbareschi. Patrimonio culturale di Villaputzu sono anche il castello di Quirra e la torre di Murtas: il primo, situato vicino la chiesa di San Nicola, poco distante dal paese, fu per diversi decenni residenza dei conti Carroz, dotato di torri, di un cortile interno e di alcuni ambienti tipici delle costruzioni del periodo, come l’abitazione del castellano, la cappella e l’armeria. La seconda invece fu costruita circa un secolo dopo il castello per fermare gli attacchi costieri e, insieme alla torre di San Lorenzo e a Torre Motta, fa parte del sistema difensivo predisposto nei secoli. Il paese organizza nel periodo estivo, così come nell’arco dell’intero anno, manifestazioni e festività: una delle più emozionanti, durante l’estate, è la festa in onore della Madonna del Mare, che si tiene in agosto a Porto Corallo.

jewel of sout h east coast On the extreme North of Sarrabus, Villaputzu developed around the 10th Century when the Arabs started raiding the coasts, thus forcing the local popolation into migrating inwards. Only a few kilometres away is Porto Corallo, a long sandyshore interrupted at a point by the mouth of the Flumendosa, the longest river of the island, which separates Villaputzu from Muravera. Porto Corallo owes its name to the coral which can be extracted from its creeks. A port capable of welcoming 500 boats has being operating for some years. Torre di Porto Corallo (The Tower of Porto Corallo) stands opposite the port. This tower was built by the Spanish in the 16th Century in order to contrast the pirates’aggressions. Castello di Quirra (The Castle of Quirra) and (La Torre di Murtas) are also part of the cultural inheritance of Villaputzu. The Castle is close to Chiesa di San Nicola ( The Church of San Nicola), not far from the small town. With its towers, an inner garden and some typical rooms of the period, such as the accomodation of the lord of the manor, the chapel and the armoury, this Castle was the residence of the Earls of Carroz for several decades. The Tower of Murtas was built about a century later, in order to stop attacks from the coast. Other examples of this defensive system are Torre di San Lorenzo ( The Tower of San Lorenzo ) and Torre Motta ( The Tower of Motta ). Villaputzu organizes shows and feasts all year long. One of the most moving Summer feasts is the Feast in honour of Madonna del Mare (Madonna of the Sea), held in August in Porto Corallo.

Villaputzu liegt im extremen Norden des Sarrabus und ist ein Zentrum, das sich um das 10. Jahrhundert entwickelt hat: in diese Zeit sind auch die ersten Einfälle der Arabier an den Küsten zurückzuführen, welche die Wanderung der lokalen Bevölkerung in das Landesinnere provozierten. Wenige Kilometer vom Ort entfernt befindet sich die Lokalität von Porto Corallo, Küstenstück, aus einem sandigen Küstenstreifen bestehend, der in einem Stück von den Mündung des Flumendosas-der längste Fluss Sardiniens, der Villaputzu von Muravera trennt- unterbrochen wird. Porto Corallo wird so genannt, weil von den Einbuchtungen zwischen seinen Klippen Bruchstücke von wundervollen Korallen zu gewinnen sind. Seit einigen Jahren ist der Hafen in Betrieb, mit 500 Bootsplätzen. Dem Hafen gegenüber liegt der Turm von Porto Corallo-im16. Jahrhundert von den Spaniern gebaut, um den Überfällen der barbarischen Piraten entgegenzuwirken. Kulturelles Erbgut von Villaputzu sind auch das Schloss von Quirra und der Turm von Murtas. Das erstgenannte liegt nahe der Kirche von San Nicola, nicht weit von der Ortschaft entfernt, das Schloss war jahrzehntelang die Residenz der Grafen von Carroz, es besteht aus Türmen, einem Innenhof und einigen Bereichen, die für Konstruktionen dieser Zeit typisch sind, wie das Haus des Schlossherrn, die Kapelle und die Waffenkammer. Der Zweitgenannte wurde ca.ein Jahrhundert nach dem Schloss gebaut, um den Angriffen an den Küsten entgegenzuwirken, gemeinsam mit den Türmen von San Lorenzo und Motta ist er Teil eines über Jahrhunderte vorbereiteten Verteidigungssystem. Die Gemeinde organisiert im Sommer und auch das ganze Jahr über Veranstaltungen und Feste. Eines der emotionsreichsten Feste wird während des Sommers veranstaltet, es ist das Fest zu Ehren der Madonna des Meeres, welches im August am Hafen von Porto Corallo stattfindet.

il cuore del Sarrabus Nella zona più interna della suggestiva ed affascinante regione geografica del Sarrabus, si staglia San Vito: paese incantevole e di antiche origini può vantare un patrimonio ambientale incontaminato e di straordinaria bellezza, in grado di integrare il turismo costiero, offrendo le condizioni ideali per scoprire attraverso escursioni, itinerari e percorsi eno-gastronomici, il sapore vero della Sardegna. A poca distanza da San Vito si trovano le “Domus de Janas”, tombe rupestri risalenti a circa 4000 anni fa ed il “Monte Lora”, dall’enigmatico profilo di donna dormiente. Nella parte alta del paese merita invece di essere visitata la chiesa medioevale di San Lussorio, risalente al XIV sec., mentre a San Priamo, frazione di San Vito, è possibile ammirare l’omonimo santuario, una chiesetta del XIII sec. che sorge arroccata su una montagna, caratterizzata dalla presenza, al suo interno, di una Domus de Janas dalla quale sgorga una sorgente dalle acque anticamente ritenute miracolose. Nelle vicinanze si scorge imponente la figura del nuraghe “Asoro”, complesso nuragico edificato con tecnica megalitica del tipo pseudo-nuraghe. San Vito non è solo ambiente, ma è anche ricco di artigianato e tradizioni, tra cui è d’obbligo la citazione dell’antico e originale strumento musicale a fiato “Le Launeddas” o “Sonus de Canna”, di cui San Vito vanta i principali maestri. La cucina locale, semplice e genuina, è arricchita da mille sapori, tra i quali in particolare quelli della “Prazzira”,

focaccia tipica sanvitese formata da ingredienti poveri, ma sapientemente mescolati tra loro. Altra caratteristica sono gli arrosti di porchetto e di capra e le grigliate di pesce, come testimoniano le feste e le sagre paesane appositamente organizzate. Per ultimi, ma non per questo meno importanti e rinomati, i formaggi, i vini e i dolci tipici del territorio ottenuti da una sapiente lavorazione del formaggio e delle mandorle.

t he heart of Sarrabus The historical testimonies and nature of this small town located in the innermost part of Sarrabus are truly worth a visit. San Vito is in the innermost zone of Sarrabus and the Flumendosa and Flumini pass through it. It can be inferred that it was founded in the Middle Ages. It owes its name to its patron saint the recently restored paris church is dedicated to. Inside the small town the alleys have mantained their ancient charme, while via Nazionale has different art nouveau buildings. If you head towards Monte Narba, in Santa Rosa, you can visit the necropolis. It dates back to 4000 years ago and it is a “Domus de Janas” complex, a burial ground dug into the granite. Not far from Santa Rosa is the mining village, whose minerals were famous in Italy and all over Europe for their limpidity. The village has two zones, one for the
buildings used for the administration (warehouses, hospital, offices) and one for the buildings where the minerals were taken care of. The rural village of San Priamo located on the main road is also part of San Vito. It counts about one thousand people who live almost completely on agriculture and rural farming. It was born after World War I with some houses, one school and a church, the latter consisting of two parts, one dating back to the 11th Century and one back to the Spanish Rule. Legend has it that miraculous water flowed out of from the spring in the oldest part of the church. On the main road that takes to Cagliari you can also admire the Basoru Nuraghes.

Es hat seinen Namen seinem Schutzpatron zu verdanken, dem die heute restaurierte Gemeindekirche gewidmet ist. Im Inneren der Ortschaft haben die Gassen ihren antiken Charme behalten, während in der „via Nazionale“ einige Häuser im liberalem Stil zu sehen sind. Wendet man sich Richtung Monte Narba, in der Lokalität von Santa Rosa, ist es möglich eine Nekropolis zu sehen, welche auf 4000 Jahren zurückzuführen ist: es ist ein Komplex der Domus de Janas, unterirdische Gräber, die aus dem Granitfelsen gehauen wurden. Nicht weit weg von Santa Rosa befindet
San Vito sich das Dorf für die Gewinnung von Mineralien, welche wegen ihrer Klarheit und Reinheit in ganz Italien und in ganz Europa berühmt waren. Das Dorf ist in zwei Zonen geteilt: in der Ersten befindet sich die Verwaltung (Lagerräume, Krankenhaus, Büros), in der Zweiten das Gebäude, in dem die Mineralien behandelt wurden. Folgt man die Straße weiter, ist es möglich die Villa des Direktors, die auch “Villa Madama“ genannt wird, zu besuchen. Zu San Vito gehört auch das Landdorf von San Pietro, das auf der Staatsstraße liegt. Es wird von ungefähr tausend Personen bewohnt, die fast komplett von der Agrarwirtschaft und von der Hirtenarbeit leben. Es entstand nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg mit dem Bau einiger Häuser, einer Schule und einer Kirche, die aus zwei Teilen besteht, der Erste stammt aus dem 11. Jahrhundert und der Zweite aus der Zeit der spanischen Herrschaft: eine Legende besagt, dass aus der Quelle, die sich im antikeren Teil der Kirche befindet, ein Wunder vollbringendes Wasser sprudelt. Auf der Staatsstraße, die nach Cagliari führt, ist es möglich die, “Nuraghe Basoru“ zu bewundern.

Se ne sentiva davvero il bisogno: sarà per questo che la Cooperativa Pescatori di Feraxi quest’anno ha deciso di dar vita al primo Ittiturismo della costa Sud Est, dove a farla da padrone è il buon pesce e la tipicità. La struttura è immersa in una location a mezza strada fra il sogno e la realtà, l’Ittiturismo si affaccia sulla romantica laguna Feraxi, a pochi metri dalla solitaria peschiera, e propone piatti a base di pesce, i cui ingredienti, semplici, gustosi e a chilometro zero parlano di una Sardegna schietta, sincera e che profuma di mare.
L’Ittiturismo accoglie il visitatore con un menù fisso, che cambia ogni settimana in base a quel che la laguna regala: a tavola viene servita una buona selezione di antipasti, due primi, due secondi, caffè e frutta. Il costo del menù è di 30 euro. Si tratta di un ottimo modo per valorizzare i prodotti tipici del territorio e la laguna, accolta in uno scenario suggestivo e che non si dimentica facilmente.

Artigianato della costa tra storia e cultura Nel sud-est Sardegna le produzioni artigianali sono numerose e vantano profonde ed antiche tradizioni. Tramandate di padre in figlio, con esse si trasmette la somma arte di donare agli oggetti creati non solo mirabile fattura, ma anche una connotazione unica, “d’antico”. L’artigianato sardo non è solo “mera produzione di oggetti di pregio”, ma anche e soprattutto “cultura”. Un modo di lavorare che nasce da un microcosmo di idee, sentimenti ed emozioni. Una dimensione dove ceramiche, tappeti, coltelli, cestini, gioielli e oggetti d’ogni genere diventano pezzi di pregiato valore storico e culturale, al di là del loro utilizzo nel quotidiano. Bisogna chiedere sempre le informazioni sul sentiero da percorrere e il genere d’itinerario che si vuole intraprendere per le escursioni, con un po’ d’ anticipo. Uno degli ingredienti per garantirsi una bell’escursione, è avere l’attrezzatura adeguata. Ma è altresì importante il rispetto dell’ambiente circostante e la cautela, qualora ci si imbatta in animali o specie vegetali sconosciute. Anche in Sardegna infatti esistono veri e propri pericoli in questo senso.

There are a few plant species such as the foxglove (which grows in the wild only in Sardinia and Corsica), multicoloured and pleasing to the eye but extremely poisonous in all of its parts because of the presence of digitaline and other glycosides. Even among mushrooms it is possible to come across some particularly dangerous varieties. You need only think of Amanita Phalloides, relatively common in Sardinia and sometimes mistaken by children for the common field mushroom. It is an extremely poisonous mushroom which can cause death if eaten.We can add other varieties of poisonous mushroom like Amanita Muscaria, easily recognisable for its characteristic red top with white spots. You should never trust the classical folk traditions assuring you that a red mushroom is an edible mushroom. The poison of the mushroom may not be toxic for animals but it is for humans. Das sardische Meer weist ein reiches und vielfältiges Habitat, in dem wunderbare Kreaturen neben echten Gefahren für den Menschen vorzufinden sind, auf. Auch bezüglich der Pilze trifft man leicht auf die ein oder andere sehr giftige Sorte. Die Amanita Phalloides, der “Grüne Knollenblätterpilz“ (auf Sardinien weit verbreitet), wird hin und wieder im Jungstadium mit dem geläufigen Prataiolo (Wiesenchampignon) verwechselt. Es handelt sich hierbei aber um einen extrem giften Pilz, der nach Verzehr sogar zum Tode führen kann. Es gibt aber noch weitere giftige Pilzarten, wie die Amanita Muscaria (Fliegenpilz), die jedoch aufgrund der roten Kappe mit den weißen Punkten leicht erkannt werden kann. Man sollte sich jedoch nie auf den dortigen Brauch verlassen, der besagt, dass ein angenagter Pilz ein essbarer ist. Das Gift eines Pilzes kann zwar für Tiere ungiftig sein, für den Menschen jedoch eine große Gefahr darstellen.
